The best restaurants serving British food in South Wales

No longer serve food but the welcome from the bar staff is always warm. Use this as my local and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Used to be excellent- no longer the case. Food was ok, the service was on a par with Basil Fawlty crossed with Julie Walters in the ‘2 Soups’ comedy sketch. We had booked a table for 4 on Saturday evening. We were taken to our table to find a different waitress had just taken 2 other people to it. They were told to move somewhere else by the guy showing us to the table. Everything was done properly with space between tables although the place was quite empty anyway. We placed our order with the waitress, who didn’t seem very competent. I questioned whether they had taken every order on the table. We checked and they said yes but then 15 minutes later came over to say they only had orders for 3 main courses. It took 3 attempts to get a wine list and 5 attempts to get some water. The waitress brought out the starters and said ‘I’m not sure what they are, but here you go’. A little training might be worthwhile. At some point a waitress brought us out 2 main courses of pork chops. We hadn’t ordered those so sent them away. The main course didn’t arrive for about an hour by which point they had apologised that they had forgotten us and offered free deserts on the house. After waiting ages for the plates to be cleared from the table and asking for the desert menu we gave up and went to the desk to pay as we thought it would take ages for them to bring it to the table. That in turn was eventful, they tried to give us the wrong bill for 2 different tables. In the end we just agreed to a bill that resembled some of the food we had eaten, paid and left. Total incompetence from start to finish, but well worth it if you want free table side entertainment.

La comida estaba a la altura y salió a tiempo, sin embargo, un miembro del personal llamado Deelia dio muy mal servicio. Su actitud era suficiente para hacer que una clienta sintiera que no los quería allí. Muy abrupto y poca o ninguna paciencia.

Ideally located in Old Llantrisant, we visited this cafe after a beautiful local walk. The sandwiches are the best on the planet, handmade by friendly staff. Highly recommended.

The staff were very friendly and the food was exceptional. Great proper pub. Super ham sandwich and the chips were to die for. Apparently the host is renowned for their quality.

This little place has long been on my bucket list to visit and I was not disappointed. The homemade soup and toast was divine and the lady owner was kindness itself. Nothing was too much trouble and the place had a warm, homely feel.

A first class experience. We had booked an early lunch and we were served promptly Wayne and Gill looked after our party very well and with great rapport. The meals never fail to please each time we visit and this was no exception. I ordered the large gammon which was cooked perfectly and served with potatoes, peas and salad. Others had fish and chips, salmon and sausage and mash. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the atmosphere. Wayne and Gill run a great public house and I would have no problem recommending them.

We went here for lunch the seating area is small but very nice. Nice and spacious not sat on top of each other. It was full for a lunch time which is good. The service was amazing, very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much for them. The food was very good, although I had the ribeye which was £30 and it really wasn’t the best. I should have said something but they were so busy didn’t want to make a fuss. I love a fatty ribeye but this was grizzly. I asked for it well done but in the middle it was pink. I had to leave that part it’s not for me. I would go back the rest of the parties food was very good I just wouldn’t have a steak.

Best boba ever!! The service was amazing, and the boba tea was delicious! I can't wait to go back. We're very lucky to have a shop like this in Neath.

Spotted this pub on way home, thought I'd pop in, bloody nuts fair play, lovely fire, bingo, girl behind the bar is awesome when you get her off her phone, best place ever

A place which is possibly unfairly thought as expensive, but I'd argue it's well priced and a perfect set for our day ahead.

Local beers and good food, plus the accomodation was clean and spacious. Perfect location to explore the coastline of the Gower.

I’m quite shocked to see that the miskin arms does not have a 5*. We visit frequently if we ever fancy some nice food and it has NEVER disappointed. I’m also shocked to see that people are writing that the portion sizes are small. I’ve always left the feeling of my stomach about to burst as I struggle to eat it all but can’t bare to leave anything as the food is so good! I often recommend this place to family and friends for any occasions or date nights, it really is our go to (coming from someone who loves good food!) the manager / owner (older gentleman) always makes the effort to come and chat and ask about the food. The service is next to none, could not recommend anymore. With all that being said, for context, we often travel close to an hour to come here, so it goes without saying how well worth it, it is for me!

Quiet on a bank holiday Monday evening but good service all the same. Recommended.
