Sandwiches bulked out with lettuce, tomato and cucumber, then info on the table telling customers, you have an hour at the table unless their not busy,,,more info on the table telling customers if they want the coffee and cake special , which is only on for an hour in the morning you actually only have 45 minutes so they can clear for lunch 😂. So while our sandwiches were ok at £8.50 each,we won't be returning it's not worth the journey to be watching the clock and having the threat of being asked to leave because your time's up at the table

After recommendation from a friend I was taken here as a birthday treat - staff quite unaccommodating - arrived 10 minutes early, several empty tables but were told our table was still occupied so asked to have a look around shop! Once served we were asked to pay straight away and noted our stay was restricted to 1 hour slot, basic menu - sandwiches which were very nice and arrived promptly. We were both looking forward to trying one of the delicious looking cakes afterwards. We tried for 15 minutes to attract the attention of staff as our plates weren’t cleared to ask for cake menu while another table behind us arrived after us, eaten sandwiches, tables cleared and ordered tea and cake managed to attract attention at the same time as me a d I was told to wait as they needed to pay - eventually we we’re shown the menu followed by “we need the table in ten minutes!!!!!” - I stopped myself from responding with we’ve waited 15 to be given service!!!! As the lady on the next table then told us the cake was very dry we declined to order anything else and left - sadly we won’t be back!

Ok, we’d been shopping upstairs, we come down into the cafe, decide a cup of tea would be good, three empty tables, we sit down, fill in the track and trace form, the waitress then tells us that there’s no food because they close at 3pm, we said we just wanted a pot of tea, she said “ you’ll have to order it over there “ pointing to the counter, this surprised me as due to Covid restrictions, I thought you had to have your order taken and then your ordered items served to you. So, I walked towards the counter and the person behind this counter shouted at me “ don’t come here, get back”, I replied that I was told to order there, she shouted something a second time, I put my hand up, said “forget it” and we left.I have shopped here for many years. There are ways to talk to customers , I won’t shop here again.

Don't be deceived by the name: the Butchers Arms was once a pub but it's been serving coffee, cakes and delicious cold lunches for many years. Set on the ground floor of an old Georgian inn right in the heart of a historic old town, the Butchers Arms Coffee Shop offers a range of coffees, teas and what I'd call "decent" cold drinks, and a wide range of delicious locally-made cakes and scones. There's always a warm Valleys welcome from the staff. Cold lunches are served in generous portions, with a variety of sandwiches, crisps, salad and a piece of fruit on the side. There's also the attraction of the Gallery shop on the first floor. It's been a magnet for residents of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as Rhondda Cynon Taf for years, selling a vast array of home accessories, china, paintings, jewellery and gifts, with specially enticing array of stock at Christmas and Easter. A new-ish addition, entered separately off the same flower-filled courtyard, is Art & Home, under the guidance of local artist Rhoswen Wilkinson, which sells stylish oak furniture and kitchen wares. Covid-19 restrictions are well adhered to here, too!

We live in Llantrisant and can never walk by without popping in. This little shop and cafe is a real find if you are looking for something away from the dull and predictable chain stores. Good little Café in the heart of old Llantrisant, I visited here today with my mother, sister and 7 year old son. Great selection of food on offer and even caters for children. Food was yummy and portion size on point. Pricing average for the area. Missing the extra star due to the parking located a short 5 minute walk up a very narrow pathway and the temperature was on the cool side in the café. The cafe has moved from upstairs to downstairs, not really sure why. It can get busy but you don't usually have to wait long for your food. Prices in my opi ion are quite high. I personally don't like the cramped feel of the place, there is no room to move once you sit, some tables you can't sit at all the chairs and if you want to leave you often have to ask people to get up a move. Makes it a bit uncomfortable for my liking.

We don’t get back to Llantrisant often now but whenever we do make it, we’ve tried to come and have afternoon tea here. On our last two visits we’ve been very disappointed. Last time we were told by the man inside that it was wet, no-one was there so he was shutting up shop and so he wouldn’t serve us. Today we arrived at 3.35 while several tables were still occupied, only to be told very bluntly that the cafe closes at 3.30 and if we wanted a sandwich we really needed to be there by 3 o’clock. We won’t be back, not even to browse the gallery, where we often spend quite a bit!!

Our first visit was on monday when only the coffee shop and gift area were open ,hence our return on thursday to view the art gallery and farm house kitchen shop. All of it is fab and i would recommend a visit . There is a subtle quality to everything and things to suit all budgets. If you need a gift you will find one here for male female young or old. I bought stone flower pots and great effort and care was taken by the lady to search for extras and alternatives as i needed 6. Beautiful artwork ,if you are looking for a peice by a local artist then look here . So to the food ... when i read the menu i was initially disappointed as it is sandwiches but wasnt i proved wrong when they came ! I ordered cream cheese and spricot on brown bread and my friend ordered tuna mayo both were delicious and came with salad and crisps,we then had coconut macaroons which were perfect ! Have been going to butchers arms gallery for many years , usually go with friend Christmas shopping and lunch . The use of downstairs as coffee shop in one way allows for more seating than when upstairs , but totally lacked atmosphere. My friend had a sandwich which was disappointing, we had tea and to say it was weak was an understatement , I asked for extra tea bag , but found tea to be tasteless, £1.95 should surely purchase a decent teabag. This has always been a favourite for treats at Christmas because of the adjoining gift shop but it is always busy whenever you go. To solve this they have moved downstairs and redecorated and moved the gifts upstairs and even put some more seating outside. The sandwiches and cakes have always been very good here and always looked homemade. This visit they seem to be maybe shop bought and the bread was different today. Still good service and value with fruit and crisps served with the sandwiches - two sandwiches, one cake, one tea and one latte was £17. Always look forward to a visit here and a look around the other shops - most of which belong to the café owner! Miss the mints you always got with the hot drinks though!

However I found some of the items slightly overpriced. £1.40for a bottle of water. £2.50 for a small slice of fruit cake and £5 for a sandwich. Great coffee shop with delicious homemade cakes which we have visited regularly for many years and always enjoyed. Recently my husband and I went there with our 2 year old granddaughter and ordered a high tea .As the sandwiches were cucumber and coronation chicken, neither of which our two year old liked I asked if they could do a plain cheese sandwich for her. When given the bill we had been charged £3.60 for the sandwich(2 tiny triangles) and £1.40 for a small carton of Ribena.I checked the menu and pointed out to the assistant that an adult cheese sandwich which was 2 rounds of bread with salad, crisps and fruit was only £4.80.I was told that the adult sandwich was accompanied by half a packet of crisps whilst the children's sandwich was with a whole packet of crisps!!!!It's half term next week which means we might well have our four grandchildren to look after(all under six).We often take them out for lunch but will definitely not be returning as this would cost us £20 just for cheese sandwiches and drinks for them.We are not mean and realise these places have to make a living but as a matter of principle but that is pure daylight robbery.Owners please take note as your good reputation is at risk here.

I'm pleased that the business appears to be doing so well, but the owners need to consider the way in which they place their tables. Upstairs in the coffee shop, there is barely space to move and the tables are frequently all taken. After myself and a friend managed to jump onto spare table of two, we found ourselves barged and pushed for the duration of the stay due to the positioning of the table. In terms of the food, both of us ordered a sandwich and a slice of cake. The sandwich was tasty with chunky bread and the slice of fruit was a nice touch. The cake was average - although it was a healthy portion the cake itself was dry. The lady serving us was rather grumpy throughout and we left the coffee shop feel rather 'meh' about our visit. On the way out, we had a browse around the gift shop. It was a rainy day and there was barely room to breathe here. Every table and display was piled high with goods and we both feared that we would break something. Although the items were lovely, I was too worried about damaging them to spend too much time browsing. Has potential, but left feeling disappointed.

The BUTCHERS ARMS is a coffee shop / tea room located above one of several gift shops located in the heart of old town Llantrisant. It's a good place to go for some food and refreshment after visiting the gift shops and art shops in this little town. Their speciality is a very wide range of sandwiches, which are generously filled in a selection of bread types, they come served with a small salad, crisps, and a piece of fruit - often a tangerine. They also have a lovely range of home made cakes, all in all a very enjoyable treat.A word of caution if you have limited mobility - access is up a steep flight of stairs. Also, the nearest car parking is a little walk away down hill, which means a climb back up alongside a narrow and busy road .All in all it's a nice place to spend an houir or so with family and friends. It gets very busy at various times of the week, it is possible to reserve a table during weekdays but not on weekends, also it is NOT open every day - check ahead of your visit. My family and I love the occasional visit even though it's less than a mile fom my home!!

All sandwiches are generously filled & include an abundance of fresh lettuce, cucumber & tomato & are served with a generous helping of ready salted crisps & a piece of seasonal fresh fruit on the side. Then there's the cakes.... Looking for a little treat for the kids and granny? Then this is the place to take them. A selection of around eight to ten homemade cakes on display to choose from at this tiny but very quaint tearoom, gallery and gift shop. My son choose the millionaire shortbread which he told me on several occasion was delicious. My daughter had the triple chocolate cake which included white and milk chocolate layers of butter icing. Granny had the coffee cake which did exactly what it said on the tin! I went for the carrot and walnut and would have had seconds but thought that wasn't the best example to show the children. I had breakfast tea as Iwas advised by the waitress to go for that rather than afternoon blend as I prefer strong tea. Granny had coffee which came in a cafeteria which is always a good sign while children had a hot chocolate each. Bill came to just over £18. Lovely gift and kitchen shop downstairs where you can purchase amongst things what seems like the whole brochure from Emma Bridgewater. Will definitely return and can't wait!!

We go here quite often and the food is always fresh, plentiful and value for money. The staff that serve you are very friendly, welcoming, hard working and efficient and make up for the usually quite aloof, snooty people they have serving downstairs in the gift shop. (May be the owners?) Would highly recommend, but get there early if you want a table!

Booked here for one night when travelling down to Cornwall. Was surprised at the lovely setting this place is at. Although we asked for a ground floor room due to my disability, we were given a first-floor room. Luckily, I managed up the stairs. It was a spacious room, with tea/coffee facilities and an ensuite bathroom. Staff were attentive, and the food was also a good standard. With a good size garden and even a dog walking field, this place was ideal for what we wanted. Breakfast the following morning was a decent size, served inside the inn. With eating outside the night before, I didn't see inside. It was a lovely old style pub inside, with the same great staff as the night before. If it wasn't for the room mix up I would have gave 5 stars.
