Excellent evening in Pontyclun, really refreshing to see a landlord putting in the effort to turn the pub around. Lovely welcoming atmosphere with a great mix of colourful characters, awesome music that had everyone up dancing towards the end of the night!

The Brunel Arms is a really great pub. Super friendly vibe, great for a dance on Saturday night. The food is cracking and the staff are not only lovely but fantastic at keeping it real! All ages welcome with 9pm curfew for the littleons. DOG FRIENDLY TOO 😊

Had an amazing evening at the Brunel. Fantastic staff and service. Would definitely recommend hidden treasure in Pontyclun.

Right opposite the train station, we sat outside in the sun with some great drinks. We didn’t eat as we’d booked elsewhere but the menu looked good. Good vibe with music being played, the owner is a really nice chap. This will be a regular place for us to visit. Well done!

Amazingly friendly pub! Popped in from the train station (right outside it) on an adventure - and wasn’t disappointed! Good selection of wines and beer and the food was tasty Scott the landlord was so accommodating and friendly he made the experience even better! Will defo be back!

Walked in here after a disappointing pint in previous pub, great banter, service, lovely pint and classic tunes playing, now my go to in Pontyclun.

Really love what the new landlord has done to the place! The pub is really warm and welcoming now. Food was awesome. A lovely little surprise

The pub looks dark and desolate, 1 beer available at £5.95 a pint that is £1 cheaper everywhere else. Not good!!!

Thought we'd give the Brunel a visit after hearing it's been taken over by Scott and also had heard of the reputation of the chef, Sam. We weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, particularly the spicy cauliflower for starters and the flatbread for mains. Scampi and chips were tasty as well, in fact, the chips were what you would call lush! Lovely staff, friendly and helpful. One of our guests was in a wheelchair and staff were very helpful with making his visit as comfortable as possible. Highly recommended.

Brilliant pub now that it's under new management. Great selection of drinks, good quality food and above all, a great atmosphere.

Stopped in for a quick pint mid dog walk (dog friendly). Lovely pint of guiness. The kitchen has recently been reopened so decided to have a bit of lunch. Really good smashed burger and fries, arrived quickly and good value. Definitely worth giving a go!

We had a fantastic visit to The Brunel Arms, such a cute little spot overlooking the railway. The garden at the front is tidy and recently developed, I expect it will look better and better as the planting gets more established. I had a chat with the new landlord Scott about his plans for carrying on his redevelopment of the place, he's a publican with vision and I expect this to become a thriving little hotspot for Pontyclun. Inside he's made it feel very cosy with a nice atmosphere, and a good use of the space means the seating feels enclosed, but you can still see your mates on the other side of the room.

Recently been taken over. Has been redecorated and has a new selection of drinks. The owner is very friendly.

I stopped in for a piss, ended up getting utterly trashed and grew very fond of the landlady and locals after a nice unplanned sesh. Mel, I love you. You're my favourite landlady by a mile and I will definitely be back for more. A tidy pint, reasonably priced and great company. What more could you want? Thanks very much :)

The Brunel arms bar staff provided a great service and we’re very friendly, we had a great evening and would highly recommend bringing your friends and family for a evening out.

My visit to the burnel arms was very enjoyable and the music nights are very good everyone joins in. The staff friendly and very helpful, and the cocktails jockey called jack his great he good and will try to make anyone you want he doesn't know the landlady is brilliant she makes you well and nothing out of her way to help. I enjoyed my visit there and looking forward to my next there.

When me and the lads arrived at Pontyclun we didn't know what to expect. We embarked on a pilgrimage, of a meed worthy enough to quench our very dry thirsts. When all seemed lost we came across a diamond in the rough, the Palace of Pontyclun, The Brunel Arms. We spent little coin on a nice, refreshing pint of Strongbow dark fruits. We spent little time chugging the meed down our mighty throats. When the pint was finished I immediately raced to the bar for another. The lads and I had a lovely time, sharing stories with the locals, enjoying in a nice, simple, cigarette and partaking in a game of snooker. My heart broke when we had to depart, however i know one day that i will return to the Brunel Arms. I want to my ashes to be with the Brunel Arms so i am forever chilling in the glory that is.....The Brunel Arms

Ran out of glasses, we were offered a half pint glass for wine then ran out of whiskey, not very clean no hot water or towels in the toilets, couldn't wait to leave.

Another lovely visit to the Brunel. They ran out of white wine but the lad behind the bar was quick to nip to the shop to get some more.

I often walk past this pub as i use Pontyclun train station. But i feel that the standards have gone downhill, the photos that are shown are very old and when the pub had a different owner. I feel that the new owner has really let the pub be run down both inside and out, Pontyclun is a small village and on entering the village via the train, this is the first thing you see which i feel does not say a lot for this nice little village.

Left before locals started a fight. Price was good, reasonable selection, but got a serious eyeballing, otherwise ok.

A great location, adjascent to the rail station with easy access to cardiff. The atmosphere has a homely feel. Its a local pub where everyone knows everyone. Mark is a dedicated owner and a friendly face, made us feel welcome. Havent been down for food yet but have heard its great. Will give it a go.

The landlord, Mark, made me the BEST CHIPS EVER!!!! Great atmosphere, and the landladies dedication in offering quality and diverse entertainment is commendable!

este lugar me gustó tanto que escribió a Tripadvisor para ellos lo puso en su sitio. Yo y mi familia (mujer y 3 años hija) visitó en 2013 Julio, y el barman declararon que habían comenzado recientemente que sirve comida. (potencialmente por qué esto no fue enumerados antes de ahora.)De todos modos, el camarero fue muy amable, y bien informado acerca de la "nueva" menú. No fue escala comida superior de corteza de restaurante, pero para un pub de barrio, visitado por los turistas a viajar a través de la zona, fue bastante bueno! La cerveza estaba bien.También tienen muchos eventos sociales, ya que fueron escenario para una noche de póquer mientras estábamos allí. (me habría quedado, pero como los turistas, sólo tuvimos un coche para volver al hotel.)No esperes nada espectacular, pero era un gran "paso" comida! Me gustaría volver.
