Absolutely lovely food! Had the birria tacos which were stunning and arrived very quickly!

After the way they have treated a customer with a dog who has been going there for years. I will avoid at all costs. They were rude towards the customer. The customer was clearly upset as they didn't even finish their food as they lost their appetite after being spoken to like rubbish. Shame on you

The lounge is an amazing restaurant and has become my Partner and I's go to date destination for a nice meal out. The food is very delicious, with a large variety of interesting choices and served quickly by friendly staff. We usually follow it up with a nice walk in the park literally a stone's throw away.

Went Sunday for food busy when we got there but had a table quickly got drinks at the bar Witch was very busy so was given a code to do online app service went through quickly and had our seconds drinks fairly quickly then it went down hill the staff are a little clueless don’t know if they were new but they couldn’t find any of the rite table and just wondered around with peoples food searching for the rite table… people were coming and going and to be fair food did look amazing quiet expensive tho… but ours never turned up after 30 min of asking 4 different members of staff where our food was still nothing asked for our money back in the end very poor service

Had food. Chicken didn't seem cooked properly. No one came to clear table. Happy hour cocktails miraculously ran out of mojito just as it started.

My review is mixed. On my first visit I found the staff helpful & friendly, I returned a week later with a group of friends. On this occasion, one of the servers was abrupt, slamming things onto the table. Had that been my first visit, I would not have returned. We left after our main meal to get coffee and dessert elsewhere. Perhaps she was having a bad day. However, the food was good and the other staff we met were polite and efficient.

My partner and I visited last night after work and the service was absolutely impeccable. Dan C and Rachel were an absolute delight to talk to and made sure my allergens were taken seriously! I’d 100% recommend ( great food options for coeliacs too! :) )

Food is over priced for what it is, the drinks take a while to arrive and they are also over priced. Staff are not friendly and it was cold by the door. I have tacos and 3 drinks spent £50. Not worth it at all.

Always a nice experience at any of the lounges, come in here regularly for a drink after a walk in the park.

Lovely meal and very pleasant service

Great atmosphere and lovely food when it finally arrived, but it took so long...to make a panini. 15 minute wait for Glass of coke and 45 minutes for food. Only had an hour for lunch - such a shame. If the Gatto lounge is presenting itself as a lunch destination for people working in Pontypridd, it needs to become much quicker. It's a really lovely venue, Ponty is lucky to have it, but it does need some organisational help.

Lovely place, food is always great and the staff are very friendly and keen to accommodate. When using the QR code the orders were brought over very quickly and the app is so easy to navigate. The only thing I find is that the place is very very loud, I understand that this isn't at the fault of the restaurant or it's staff just pointing this out for someone who may not like a busy or crowded eating space. But yes, very lovely and food amazing!

Lovely cafe bar, perfect on a sunny day, sit outside in the sunshine next to the river. The food was good, and the service was quick, and the venue was filled with quirky lights, tables, and chairs. Lovely experience

Perfect place for a casual meal or drinks with friends. Their menu has a good variety of options, especially the brunch menu and an impressive cocktail selection.

We love visiting this chain, always good service, good range of food/Drinks & such interesting decor. I noticed a table or 2 were waiting for their order to be taken which isn’t really a thing in most places now so maybe slightly better signs to guide those People but I personally love being able to order quickly from our phone especially when it’s as busy as it is & run so efficiently

Lovely decor, lush food, good choices, nice location. Had to mark it down though as they allow dogs....one dog was sat on the owners lap at the table, very unhygienic 🤮

Visited for the first time for lunch yesterday after a walk in the park, quite busy but managed to find a table, reminded me of one of those deli-diners in New York , food and service were very good, the bit I found odd that I hadn't come across in the U.k. before was being invited to tip on ordering meals which is obviously before being served or eating food, how could I know beforehand if a tip was warranted or not, it was by the way, but I had already paid the bill.

Relaxing place over looking the Park.

We visited here today after multiple enjoyable meals, however today I was informed there were no gluten free buns available and so I had to have my burger in bread which wasn't the best option available. When I asked if the sauces were gluten free I was told they should be which isn't an acceptable answer because if they aren't then my reaction will be bad. Unfortunately this type of service in 2025 simply isn't acceptable.

Lovely atmosphere great service can order at table or bar. Plenty of seating and accessible for wheelchairs and prams.

I love this chain of bistro bars! I can see the charm of the place. Good drink and food, in a classy atmosphere. I loved the level of friendliness of the staff. They were polite and enjoyed a chat when engaged at the bar. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and there was time to chat in a pleasant environment with friends. Several groups were enjoying a Christmas night out with colleagues when we were there, but the atmosphere was still excellent. The space is large enough to accommodate a large group of people, without feeling crowded. It is definitely a place to eat and drink if you are visiting Pontypridd!

Only had drinks. Nice cocktail although expensive. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Not much atmosphere. Went around 8:30 on friday evening and was really quiet. Thought be busy with christmas coming up.

Love this place, been a couple of times when visiting our son at uni in Treforest, lots of choice food wise, interior it atmospheric outside the river flows. Dog friendly too

Popped in for a cocktail after an evening walk. love the atmosphere here and staff always friendly. Plus bonus.. it's dog friendly.👍 Service can be slow on times and if you ask for take away expect to get drinks way before your food...a tad annoying.

Stopped here on my last trip to ponty. Service was great, always love how friendly ponty people are. Real interesting selection of beers, Menabrea which I’ve never seen on draft before and a quality German pilsner among others. Menu is a mix of pub classics, snacks, and Asian meals. Went for the Nori goreng and bang bang chicken and they were delicious. Well Worth a visit! Building is really cool too.

Venue is very nice. Good burger and free desert (Monday offer). No faults. Service was ok. Clean environment. I would rate as better than ‘average’ but not ‘very good’.

First time I was dissatisfied from time which I spend in Gatto. The staff was noisy,the flor by bar was very dirty with full of rubbish bag on the floor. The music was too noisy I have to shouted to my husband who sit opposite me by table. When I ask to turn down music,the servant promised but not doing. I was 09th October at 15.00 and I never was not happy like this time. Noisy music-- less customers ,so less things to do by staff. Shouldn't be like that.

We ordered pancakes. They were awful. Came out of a packet. Bacon was fatty with no bacon. And hardly any syrup. And this cost us £30. A complete rip off in my opinion.

I always enjoy gluten free food here and staff great lovely and clean place . only issue was went there Friday and had a chicken burger but couldn't eat as the inside of chicken was very pink and cold but in all fareness they were busy i would go back because easy enough mistake to make .

The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, the children's meals came without certain elements. We were not advised of this until the meals arrived. When queried, we were told they'd run out. No refund for the missing food offered. One adult came missing an egg and any feta cheese, the egg was served later upon request. Another adult meal was luke warm. The third adult meal, Lounge Breakfast, was delicious and very enjoyable.

We drove down to Pontypridd on Bank Holiday to show my American brother and his wife, Cindy, the lovely Ynysangharad Park and what had been the gigantic and fantastic Eisteddfod site – we’re musicians, and we played at the Eisteddfod. We dropped into the Gatto Lounge for something to eat; I hadn’t been in there, but I’m sure we will want to go again pretty soon! The young staff were very friendly and courteous, and the whole area was really carefree and relaxed, with a lovely view of the park and River Taf. My partner enjoyed an extremely ample all day breakfast, with a gorgeous sauvignon blanc; my brother and Cindy ordered the Bang Bang Chicken, which was mouth-wateringly scrumptious. I opted for a bowl of Nasi Goreng, Malaysian-style fried rice with chicken and king prawns, searingly-hot red chilli peppers, spring onion, sesame seeds and chilli sauce with a fried egg on top – it was out of this world, and zingily delicious. So delicious, in fact, that I absentmindedly bit into the chilli peppers, which were breaking through the Scoville scale! I left the two remaining slices of pepper, which had magnificently done their job of flavouring the dish – and I had an iced Americano coffee to top it all. All in all, the Gatto Lounge had a hearty thumbs-up for us – well done!

It's a lovely place with a menu different from the normal run of the mill menu you have to wait sometimes for a table as it is a very popular place and it's dog friendly.

A stylish, cosy and welcoming cafe, right by the river. Coffee was delicious! Very accommodating, the staff were friendly, polite and pleasant. There is an easy access lift to the ground floor toilets. Free colouring provided to keep children occupied, sofas and coffee tables or dining style seating. I was very impressed and will definitely be going back.

Been past this place loads of times but never came in as it's always busy but today it wasn't so I popped in for a drink and I am happy to visit again in the future.

It was a decent enough meal when the order arrived. A few errors such as i had the wrong order which was quickly changed, there was no cutlery supplied but bar staff quickly provided. Bar staff were very nice bunch, very helpful. 2 main meals with a lager & a large coke came to £25. Ample amount of food too. Comfortable at most tables here. Toilets downstairs but can be accessed via a lift.

Nice place for either alfresco dining or eating inside, if I have to make one criticism it's that all food and drink had to be ordered from one service point at the end of the bar, doesn't work too well when it gets busy.

Hi came here today for some food and drinks after a visit to the Eisteffodd, we are local to the area. It was really busy inside and outside and staff were pushed but coped really well with the surge of people. We found seats pretty immediately and even at it’s fullest there were spare tables downstairs. Good selection of lagers on tap. We had a burger each. Chicken and Bacon, Chicken Bacon and avocado. My Boy isn’t one for salads and anything green to be fair. He had the Kiev burger and we removed all the toppings from the order. And that was what came, no need for us to be scraping off unordered toppings and that was good. Anyone with kids who are fussy eaters will get this. All burgers were really tasty. what I’d note here is that there are comments on other reviews saying it’s quite expensive. I’d argue that the price is pretty competitive or at least similar in todays market to a Harvester as an example. The difference here is the quality of ingredients in my opinion. I had the CBA which came in a fresh Brioche bun. The Chicken was cooked really well, moist and a good quality breast seasoned well. Maple bacon was really flavoursome, a bit salty for my palate but that’s maple cured as a rule, still it worked well. The avocado was perfectly ripe and as anyone knows with avocado..unripe, unripe, unripe, unripe, ripe, dead. Fries were skin on and cooked and seasoned well with crunch. I’d prefer a larger portion as a rule, but the burger was pretty filling and I am pretty greedy, so that’s not a criticism. But again, really good quality ingredients and all very clean and fresh tasting. Not pre-cooked, not left on the pass. Plates were cleared, deserts ordered. I don’t do desert unless its cheese or baklava, that would be the only criticism and only a personal gripe.I like cheese. Deserts were eaten and went down well, probably two cookie dough or fudge sundaes. Both really good I’m told, but not as good as cheese. In regards to service. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, that was about correct and thank you for telling us. Food was served, asked us about condiments. Brought them swiftly. Checked in on us that all was ok within a few minutes, thank you. Also checked in again after the meals, again, thank you. Plates cleared promptly, glasses cleared promptly. I’d note that all the staff had a positive air about them and were polite and friendly even when a rogue pigeon entered the establishment with an attitude. Good food, cooked really well in a really cosy boutique setting. Thank you all so much. Kindest regards.

Really nice place to eat and drink with large outside seating area which is lovely on a sunny day. There is a downstairs area as well so there is usually plenty of opportunity to get somewhere to sit down. Good selection of beers and the food was really good. Would recommend..

Great escape.in Pontypridd. Sunshine along the river. Great food and drink.

So first thing first the food was delicious, well above what I expected. I had the beef chilli and it was really tasty. My family were equally positive about their meals. And it was good value. But the service was really slow. The waitress was running around but it still took nearly an hour for our food to arrive. We were near another family and it was clear they had waited ages for their puddings. We really couldn't explain why it took so long. So we didn't stay for dessert.

Came here for the first time last Wednesday for lunch with my parents who were visiting from Northern Ireland. My dad is a coeliac and I'd seen the gluten free menu online and thought we'd give it a go. The gf menu was extensive and my dad was delighted to be able to have a huge selection to choose from. The girl at the counter taking the order asked us if it was 'a gluten intolerance or coeliac disease' which was brilliant as so rarely do restaurants differentiate the two. Food took a while to arrive but it was busy and when it came, it was piping hot and fresh. Not the cheapest of lunches but worth it for the variety that is offered and the delicious food served. Will come again!

Nice vibe and venue. Food was decent. Would say it's overpriced for location. Paying Cardiff prices for centre of pontypridd. Ok as a one off but not enough to visit regularly.

As usual the food was AMAZING!!!! The staff were friendly and attentive also. I've been here many times, & not once have I ever been disappointed with the quality of the food .... highly, highly recommended

Lovely environment. Seating nicely spaced.. very clean. Staff very polite & helpful. Showing my 5year old grandson where the games toys were. Kids pancake portion generous. I had an egg bacon sandwich would have liked my egg not quite as cooked. Nice outdoor seating area overlooking the River and park. Worth a visit

I visited Gatto Lounge in June with my daughters and grandson. It was a lovely warm day and we sat on the terrace, which was lovely. The food was okay, albeit a bit pricey for what you get.

Really ideal location next to cheap or free parking, on the riverside. A bit on the noisy side — sound absorbing materials would be a benefit. Love that dogs are welcome & looked after.

Good selection of meals this was my 2nd visit, toilets downstairs but easy to access via convenient lift. Nicely located alongside the River Taff an Pontypridd town centre.

A lovely lounge bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Good selection of delicious food available. Staff were lovely, if a little slow and disorganised. It wasn't busy, but with 5 people behind the bar, it still took a while to get served. That aside, they were helpful and courteous and I had a great working lunch there with my colleague. The view over the river to the park was lovely and the decor is quirky and fun. I'd definitely go back.

Cracking place to visit for some fantastic food

Ate here for a late lunch. Interesting menu. Chose from the Tapas menu - great range and something for all people in the group. Used order and pay via app which was easy to use. Service was great. Toilets were downstairs and lighting very more subdued here compared to bright light from windows and lights in the restaurant. Great to have free parking after 10am in the nearby car park - this was on a Saturday.

Not bad food didn't like the pepper they put on the eggs/tomato spoilt it tbh bit expensive too for what we had probably been half the price in most cafes .

Delicious supper. Returned for equally good breakfast the following day. Great staff, great place, wonderful.
