Gatto Lounge in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Have been here a number of times great menu a good selection of small plates and larger meals . They also do specials nights fabulous staff lovely views over the river and the park there is seating outside ready for warmer weather.

Excellent breakfast food choices, traditional breakfast, sandwiches, light bites or just coffee and cake. Also visited for lunch and food selection lovely and varied from other venues. Evening drinks with friends wew Excellent, great bar selection, beers, cocktails and spirits

Interesting choice of dishes. Just about enough to eat with the Tapas, not really enough to share sadly. Smiling service.

Food is always amazing. Menu is changed regularly so always something different to try.

Was a bit late in trying the gatto lounge. But to give credit where it's due i could see what all the fuss is about. The food was delicious, the service was great, staff couldn't do enough for us and were brilliant with our children.

Had the orange czrrot coriandrr soup.awful.worse soup ever tates of thick mamalade Should have complainec but met with friends had'nt seen for yeats so did,'nt maje a fuss not impressed.

I'm sure it must be me, but I often find when I get to the Gatto Lounge that i dont really want to order any food! Everything seems so liquidy! I want to like the place and often visit but often don't order anything to eat.

Fantastic service from start to finish Dan was amazing great interaction with our entire party especially my daughter. Food was fantastic and the snack pot for kids is just a genius idea whilst waiting for food. Great place clean with a great atmosphere we will be back. Sorry I forgot the rest of the team names.

Great location and food. This place has become a regular eating venue for the family. Love the food and my 8 year is a big fan of the fish fingers. Personally I go for the beef brisket chill. Yum yum

As the rest of the Lounge chain - generally good food and good service. I live in the SE of England where the prices of the Lounges are acceptable, but I find the price range quite high for the South Wales Valleys. I think a bottle of not-quite-mid-range Prosecco was £29 which doesn't reflect the quality of the bottle.

The vintage vibe and great food is so different from any place i’ve been before. Me and my mam went for Tapas and was not disappointed. We had 6 dishes and they were each unique and tasty, However, I would recommend getting a garlic ciabatta each because scraping the dishes is necessary at the end as every dish is so full of flavour. The staff were super friendly and chatty and their casual looks add to the chill vibe of the restaurant. We also tried 2 cocktails and they were very well presented and tasted great. We went at the end of March and they had asked about a new banoffee cheesecake they had just added to the menu. It is unlike any cheesecake i’ve had before and tasted beyond description in the best way, To the chef, please keep that gorgeous cheesecake on the menu, it really is beautiful. Would 100% recommend going on a Tuesday after 5pm for the 3 tapas dishes and a free glass of wine and for the 2 for £12 cocktails!

Myself and colleagues visit the Gatto Lounge more or les every Friday for a drink after work. The staff are always pleasant and the venue has a nice atmosphere. A special shoutout to Dan who always reserves a table for us and is never too busy to stop for a quick chat.

We were put downstairs and it was so cold I had to put my coat back on ,when they brought cutlery there was only one fork , so we had to get our own, I ordered the goat curry, it was 88% rice, 2%sauce, 5%veg, and 5% meat, and as a meat eater , that spoiled it for me

Didn't have food just a few drinks to enjoy the view and see how amazing this new addition is to pontypridd. Great connecting bridge into the park so you don't have to walk on the road especially if you have children or dogs 👍

Tried to book a table for a party of 20 was told by the manager that its too stressful and walk ins won't be happy to wait! Won't be using this place again we have been many times with family and through work nights out, the manager was very rude and just refused the booking. Will not recommend to anyone

Had 2 pieces of toast and a 1 coffee. Toast was cold when it arrived at the table. Only 2 pats if butter and no offer of jam etc. Bit expensive at over £6.

Absolutely amazing staff and general atmosphere. Me and my partner are yet to have a bad experience. The drink we ordered was out of stock and they quickly came over and offered us other options, the food was amazing as always- never too much or too little as the portions and balance of the meal is really all you can ask for. And the price is surreal. It’s affordable yet feels so chic and fancy. It feels like fine dining on a budget and is the perfect place for students or large groups of families who want to go out for a special occasion without breaking the bank. My favourite place in ponty by far. You will definitely be seeing us again!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Very nice indeed. Have been to a few Lounges and they have all been pretty good, but this one does stand out. Nice atmosphere, very sparkley staff. Food was great.

My cheeseburger was ok, fries weren't hot enough and the portion was abit small for the price (£16). My partner had steak (£20) with rocket salad and fries. £20 is far from cheap so the steak should have melted in the mouth. However, the steak was tasteless, chewy and stringy, fries again weren't hot enough, and the salad was inedible (too much vinegar - too sour, and couldn't taste the rocket at all). Three dogs were in the restaurant - barking at times too. Ruined the ambience. I have never seen dogs allowed in an upscale cafe/bar/restaurant before, so it was a surprise. A bit disappointed to be honest.

Love it in here, wish they would change their menu a bit more, but the tapas are great, staff are really helpful and friendly. I know this is a chain but it's a real plus for Pontypridd.

Very nice place if you’re happy with the menu. Happy to return in a group if they wished too visit, as the “lounge breakfast” is ok...though why put pepper on the eggs?. The “chocolate salted caramel sundae” is excellent though. Returned for the granddaughter’s 8th Birthday.

Really good good butter fried chicken. One of our group is GF, plenty of options for them. Warm chocolate brownie dessert was good, but could have done with a 2nd scoop of ice cream. ;o]

You can't go wrong really, great with food allergies - in particular Dan C on the till was really helpful and actually pointed out an offer I wasn't aware of which saves me money! Result

First time at Gatto lounge on Saturday morning and absolutely loved it. Horrible & wet outside but we walked into a great buzzing atmosphere with all ages and walks of life. Staff friendly and helpful and the food genuinely impressive. Normally we’re quite wary of ‘cafe-bar’ style places that offer a glitzy looking menu but often disappoint with style over substance, but not in this case! The coffee was fantastic (nice to see Clifton coffee over here) and the Miami Brunch and lounge breakfasts were delicious. Will definitely be back!

Delicious food and atmosphere 😋

Well for the second year running our stations decided to meet for our Christmas celebrations at Gatto Lounge. It is the most unwelcoming venue I have ever had the pleasure of attending. The staff are abrupt, rude and unhelpful. We are a group of professional people who work with the public on a daily basis, for the second time last night we were asked to leave, no reason given. We were quite a large, well behaved, respectable crowd who were allowed to spend a significant amount of money on both occasions and then asked to leave. The venue does not deserve to succeed.

What a fabulous cafe/restaurant. We went here for breakfast after finding their menu online. The gluten free breakfast was huge and absolutely delicious. The staff were so friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for

We booked here for a 70th birthday celebration for 12 family members. Food was excellent the service and atmosphere great. Excellent valued for money.

I recently had a celebratory breakfast (on my birthday) at this establishment. They quickly found us a free table and accepted our order. The food was very aesthetic and tasty, prepared quickly. The atmosphere of the institution is a separate story. Spacious, but cozy, wonderful Christmas decor, many different trinkets in the interior. It is nice that the establishment is pet-friendly, there were dogs sitting under almost every table, which added to the atmosphere of home. Unfortunately, the toilet is downstairs, so people in wheelchairs may have problems with it. But we liked it. I recommend it with pleasure and would visit this place again myself. Thank you.

A excellent choice of amazing food that catered for all tastes. A vibrate selection of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Would highly recommend for an excellent night out.

Nice looking space, we had tea and tea cakes. Price for the area was way off I get it, it's in a newly developed building. But, for the offer it just wasn't for me. If you like a Cardiff feel and happy with paying for it then pop on. Also dogs can go in which is great 👍

Visited for breakfast on the 19th of October 2023 . It was pretty quiet and we were shown to a table straight away. We ordered through the app by using the QR code. Food was well presented and tasted nice but it was far too cold. I would visit again and hope that it was just a one off.

Been here a handful of times after living near Pontypridd and food is brilliant... But unfortunatly our last visit wasn't so great. It was busy so we were told we could wait on a table outside until a table was free inside which we agreed too. But we ended up waiting over 30 minutes, watching people who turned up after us get seated before us. I tried to get the attention of a waiter who looked at us and blanked us. Normally I wouldn't mind waiting as I can understand its busy. But with me being heavily pregnant out in the cold it was frustrating, so we left and went to a different cafe in Pontypridd. Quite disappointed in the service, don't know if we were forgotten about or what but it could've been handled better.

Came here with my partner about 7pm, Beautiful food, lovely staff, very clean, when we came it was very busy but despite this we were seated very quickly by a very sweet guy with glasses, despite being very busy and full our food came within about 10 minutes of ordering and both meals came out together, cant recommend enough! Thankyou guys!

Great place to eat and have drinks with friends. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Bit noisy upstairs, but there's seating in the basement that seemed much quieter. food was nice and well priced, and service was pretty fast.

We visited for brunch as a group of friends, having booked a table beforehand. Our table was a bit of a squeeze, despite one member of our group being unable to make it on the day. We ordered a range of dishes that were enjoyed by all, however we were encouraged to order separately on the app which meant that some members of the party, despite ordering at the same time, were waiting for food when others had finished. We also had to send a couple of glasses/mugs back that had lipstick on. On the whole, it was a pleasant atmosphere, with good food, and I am sure we will visit again at some point.

Called in here last week. The food is very good and the lunchtime soup and half panini offer good value. The place seemed to lack atmosphere, maybe some background music wouldn't have gone a miss. I also felt although the food was good value, drinks especially draught beers seemed very overpriced.

"Overpriced and underwhelming" Visited 3 times over the last few weeks and won't be going back any time soon. Our meals were not up to the quality I would expect for the prices they are charging. For example, one of the breakfasts consisted of 2 very dry slices of overcooked toast with no butter (after explicitly ordering them with butter), a side of avocado (which was less than half of a small one), and a tiny poached egg. My 6-year-old's fried eggs were covered in black pepper and had to be sent back to be replaced (which to be fair they did without complaint). And my cappuccino was covered in chocolate after expressly asking for it without. The place does have a nice atmosphere and the staff are pleasant and helpful, but it's not enough to justify the higher price tag.

Had a lovely brunch & carrot cake here. Really nice atmosphere and staff friendly and accommodating. Also nice veggie/vegan options and ample parking in pay & display carpark. On my second visit I ordered the blueberry pancakes which were delicious! Highly recommended 👌

Poor service had to wait ages for our drinks after ordering at the bar reason being they where serving the app orders first not impressed at all.

Would have given top marks but the music is way too loud had difficulty hearing the staff, will be back if you turn it down, as every thing else is great.

Always super friendly staff, one of my favourite places to sit and work for a few hours.

Background music too loud, I suffer with hearing problems and was unable to hear the staff due to the excess surrounding noises from the music. The staff had to shout as I was trying to give my order. When someone shouts at me I get more anxious.

Usually love the lounges but this time we went for my birthday. The orders were mixed up with another table. My sisters dish with chicken and prawns didn’t have any. The waitress openly said she was ignoring the phone ringing. I don’t think I’ll be going back! Sorry for such a bad review but it’s the truth

I write this with somewhat of a heavy heart as we have loved the Gatto Lounge since its opening whether it be for a Saturday brunch or sitting outside overlooking the river for a beer in the evening but in all likelihood won't be returning or if so, very infrequently. The place itself is lovely, the staff fantastic & the food & drink generally really good but it seems like every time we visit there are more & more dogs to the point where it's no longer for us. Our last visit was a midweek dinner & whilst not the staff's fault, the restaurant looked like a warzone with the floor under several tables littered with spilt water from dog bowls & scraps of food. Even though it wasn't particularly nice evening we took our drinks outside & decided to skip food on the basis the restaurant was simply not in good shape however on leaving, the staff had done a great job in cleaning the tables so we decided to grab a table & order food. Aside from the fact that it was quiet, almost every table had a diner with a dog in tow & soon after ordering our food, a couple came in & sat on the table next to us with a dog who wasn't particularly badly behaved but enough to be a constant distraction with it's owner continually pulling on it's lead telling it to sit still. Whilst none of the pets were barking constantly or loudly, during our time eating dinner the evening was punctuated by constant yelps & owners reprimanding their pets. I've had conversations with several friends who have shared a similar experience when visiting this & other lounges & one told me that they were informed that the downstairs area in the Gatto Lounge is "pet-free". Whilst I generally really like this venue, the downstairs area is not a particularly pleasant environment so it's a real shame they aren't able to swap things around & make this their pet-friendly zone because we don't plan on visiting the restaurant or even terrace anytime soon. The unfortunate part of this is that I empathise with Management as businesses need support post-COVID & if becoming more accessible to pet-owners increases foot-fall then it's understandable but the flip-side is losing revenue from folk that don't want to feel like they are in Crufts Cafe - I sincerely hope something gives or changes as I really like the Lounge concept & miss frequently visiting the ones in our vicinity, including our favourite the Gatto Lounge.

We ordered a plate of cheesy chips which cost £3.55p, and the portion size had a lot to be desired!! Very poor in quantity for the price we paid, it was no bigger than a saucer of chips.

I have celebrated my birthday there today and even though it was a busy day staff did their best to make sure everyone was happy with the service! They offer high range of food, including gluten free and vegan options, also atmosphere is so relaxed and dog friendly. I’ll definitely come back here again!

Great place for breakfast and brunch. The only bad thing is that if you come by car, you have to walk a while to get to the restaurant due to not a lot of availability in parking.
