Gatto Lounge in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Had an iced coffee the young woman taking orders was run off her feet .but working hard deserved a pay increase Had a lovely lunch it was fabulous recently ate there again lovely food nice place to sit and have a drink

We ordered pancakes. They were awful. Came out of a packet. Bacon was fatty with no bacon. And hardly any syrup. And this cost us £30. A complete rip off in my opinion.

I always enjoy gluten free food here and staff great lovely and clean place . only issue was went there Friday and had a chicken burger but couldn't eat as the inside of chicken was very pink and cold but in all fareness they were busy i would go back because easy enough mistake to make .

The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, the children's meals came without certain elements. We were not advised of this until the meals arrived. When queried, we were told they'd run out. No refund for the missing food offered. One adult came missing an egg and any feta cheese, the egg was served later upon request. Another adult meal was luke warm. The third adult meal, Lounge Breakfast, was delicious and very enjoyable.

Great quality food, good choice of seating. Welcoming atmosphere. Lots of variety offered for vegan and gluten free diets.

Loverly atmosphere in a great location. Staff are friendly, service is fast. Food is always as you'd expect. If I was being picky, I'd like just a little more on my plate. 👌

We drove down to Pontypridd on Bank Holiday to show my American brother and his wife, Cindy, the lovely Ynysangharad Park and what had been the gigantic and fantastic Eisteddfod site – we’re musicians, and we played at the Eisteddfod. We dropped into the Gatto Lounge for something to eat; I hadn’t been in there, but I’m sure we will want to go again pretty soon! The young staff were very friendly and courteous, and the whole area was really carefree and relaxed, with a lovely view of the park and River Taf. My partner enjoyed an extremely ample all day breakfast, with a gorgeous sauvignon blanc; my brother and Cindy ordered the Bang Bang Chicken, which was mouth-wateringly scrumptious. I opted for a bowl of Nasi Goreng, Malaysian-style fried rice with chicken and king prawns, searingly-hot red chilli peppers, spring onion, sesame seeds and chilli sauce with a fried egg on top – it was out of this world, and zingily delicious. So delicious, in fact, that I absentmindedly bit into the chilli peppers, which were breaking through the Scoville scale! I left the two remaining slices of pepper, which had magnificently done their job of flavouring the dish – and I had an iced Americano coffee to top it all. All in all, the Gatto Lounge had a hearty thumbs-up for us – well done!

It's a lovely place with a menu different from the normal run of the mill menu you have to wait sometimes for a table as it is a very popular place and it's dog friendly.

Staff are all amazing! Shout out to Dan! The cocktails are fabulous and good is great too, great job guys!

A stylish, cosy and welcoming cafe, right by the river. Coffee was delicious! Very accommodating, the staff were friendly, polite and pleasant. There is an easy access lift to the ground floor toilets. Free colouring provided to keep children occupied, sofas and coffee tables or dining style seating. I was very impressed and will definitely be going back.

Been past this place loads of times but never came in as it's always busy but today it wasn't so I popped in for a drink and I am happy to visit again in the future.

It was a decent enough meal when the order arrived. A few errors such as i had the wrong order which was quickly changed, there was no cutlery supplied but bar staff quickly provided. Bar staff were very nice bunch, very helpful. 2 main meals with a lager & a large coke came to £25. Ample amount of food too. Comfortable at most tables here. Toilets downstairs but can be accessed via a lift.

Nice place for either alfresco dining or eating inside, if I have to make one criticism it's that all food and drink had to be ordered from one service point at the end of the bar, doesn't work too well when it gets busy.

Hi came here today for some food and drinks after a visit to the Eisteffodd, we are local to the area. It was really busy inside and outside and staff were pushed but coped really well with the surge of people. We found seats pretty immediately and even at it’s fullest there were spare tables downstairs. Good selection of lagers on tap. We had a burger each. Chicken and Bacon, Chicken Bacon and avocado. My Boy isn’t one for salads and anything green to be fair. He had the Kiev burger and we removed all the toppings from the order. And that was what came, no need for us to be scraping off unordered toppings and that was good. Anyone with kids who are fussy eaters will get this. All burgers were really tasty. what I’d note here is that there are comments on other reviews saying it’s quite expensive. I’d argue that the price is pretty competitive or at least similar in todays market to a Harvester as an example. The difference here is the quality of ingredients in my opinion. I had the CBA which came in a fresh Brioche bun. The Chicken was cooked really well, moist and a good quality breast seasoned well. Maple bacon was really flavoursome, a bit salty for my palate but that’s maple cured as a rule, still it worked well. The avocado was perfectly ripe and as anyone knows with avocado..unripe, unripe, unripe, unripe, ripe, dead. Fries were skin on and cooked and seasoned well with crunch. I’d prefer a larger portion as a rule, but the burger was pretty filling and I am pretty greedy, so that’s not a criticism. But again, really good quality ingredients and all very clean and fresh tasting. Not pre-cooked, not left on the pass. Plates were cleared, deserts ordered. I don’t do desert unless its cheese or baklava, that would be the only criticism and only a personal gripe.I like cheese. Deserts were eaten and went down well, probably two cookie dough or fudge sundaes. Both really good I’m told, but not as good as cheese. In regards to service. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, that was about correct and thank you for telling us. Food was served, asked us about condiments. Brought them swiftly. Checked in on us that all was ok within a few minutes, thank you. Also checked in again after the meals, again, thank you. Plates cleared promptly, glasses cleared promptly. I’d note that all the staff had a positive air about them and were polite and friendly even when a rogue pigeon entered the establishment with an attitude. Good food, cooked really well in a really cosy boutique setting. Thank you all so much. Kindest regards.

Really nice place to eat and drink with large outside seating area which is lovely on a sunny day. There is a downstairs area as well so there is usually plenty of opportunity to get somewhere to sit down. Good selection of beers and the food was really good. Would recommend..

Great escape.in Pontypridd. Sunshine along the river. Great food and drink.

So first thing first the food was delicious, well above what I expected. I had the beef chilli and it was really tasty. My family were equally positive about their meals. And it was good value. But the service was really slow. The waitress was running around but it still took nearly an hour for our food to arrive. We were near another family and it was clear they had waited ages for their puddings. We really couldn't explain why it took so long. So we didn't stay for dessert.

Nice enough but drinks are very expensive.

Came here for the first time last Wednesday for lunch with my parents who were visiting from Northern Ireland. My dad is a coeliac and I'd seen the gluten free menu online and thought we'd give it a go. The gf menu was extensive and my dad was delighted to be able to have a huge selection to choose from. The girl at the counter taking the order asked us if it was 'a gluten intolerance or coeliac disease' which was brilliant as so rarely do restaurants differentiate the two. Food took a while to arrive but it was busy and when it came, it was piping hot and fresh. Not the cheapest of lunches but worth it for the variety that is offered and the delicious food served. Will come again!

Nice vibe and venue. Food was decent. Would say it's overpriced for location. Paying Cardiff prices for centre of pontypridd. Ok as a one off but not enough to visit regularly.

Visited yesterday only to find the lattes are now served in knew smaller cups like the cappuccinos wernt amused

As usual the food was AMAZING!!!! The staff were friendly and attentive also. I've been here many times, & not once have I ever been disappointed with the quality of the food .... highly, highly recommended

Lovely environment. Seating nicely spaced.. very clean. Staff very polite & helpful. Showing my 5year old grandson where the games toys were. Kids pancake portion generous. I had an egg bacon sandwich would have liked my egg not quite as cooked. Nice outdoor seating area overlooking the River and park. Worth a visit

I visited Gatto Lounge in June with my daughters and grandson. It was a lovely warm day and we sat on the terrace, which was lovely. The food was okay, albeit a bit pricey for what you get.

People smoking just outside entrance door with smoke blowing into inside bar area was not acceptable

Really ideal location next to cheap or free parking, on the riverside. A bit on the noisy side — sound absorbing materials would be a benefit. Love that dogs are welcome & looked after.

A lovely lounge bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Good selection of delicious food available. Staff were lovely, if a little slow and disorganised. It wasn't busy, but with 5 people behind the bar, it still took a while to get served. That aside, they were helpful and courteous and I had a great working lunch there with my colleague. The view over the river to the park was lovely and the decor is quirky and fun. I'd definitely go back.

Good selection of meals this was my 2nd visit, toilets downstairs but easy to access via convenient lift. Nicely located alongside the River Taff an Pontypridd town centre.

Ate here for a late lunch. Interesting menu. Chose from the Tapas menu - great range and something for all people in the group. Used order and pay via app which was easy to use. Service was great. Toilets were downstairs and lighting very more subdued here compared to bright light from windows and lights in the restaurant. Great to have free parking after 10am in the nearby car park - this was on a Saturday.

Cracking place to visit for some fantastic food

Not bad food didn't like the pepper they put on the eggs/tomato spoilt it tbh bit expensive too for what we had probably been half the price in most cafes .

Delicious supper. Returned for equally good breakfast the following day. Great staff, great place, wonderful.

Not every item on the menu is created equal but their Brisket Chilli is to die for. There are lots of really good options and an extensive drinks menu with some great cocktails! Definitely a newer style service with the "order to table via OR code" but it works pretty well! Having been on several occasions the food is generally quite good and consistent no matter what you order.

Godd for an afternoon snack or a date night

We stopped in for breakfast while visiting the area. The food was good and ready quickly, the staff were friendly, and the location right on the river was a nice bonus.

Wide ranging menu that caters for all tastes. Location by the river is very pleasant on a sunny day. Prices of the meals and drinks are competitive.

The staff are lovely. Lovely spacious area with a lot of tables crammed in. Was very loud in there. Menu is massive! Lots of choice. I think we ordered wrong tho cos my food wasn't the best, bang bang cauliflower. All tasted like burnt broccoli. Every mouthful tasted the same so became tiresome to eat. It's always very busy. You can wait a while just to order drinks. Maybe it would be useful to have drinks only till so people who just want a coffee don't have to join a long queue of people ordering a few meals. Great service, though, and staff cope well.

Went for brunch with family, I got eggs royale which were lovely, however my grandmother got carrot and pepper soup which just had a ridiculous amount of black pepper in it, like I absolutely adore my spice and even I couldn't handle more than a few spoonfuls before my throat felt weird. The staff refunded us for the bowl of soup but I really think they should mention the amount of black peppercorn in the soup as the menu makes it seem like it's bell peppers. Also it was ridiculously loud, kids were just allowed to run around screaming, I don't blame the staff at all as it was busy, but there's a certain point when parents need to be taken aside and told that it's a restaurant, not a playground.

Have been here a number of times great menu a good selection of small plates and larger meals . They also do specials nights fabulous staff lovely views over the river and the park there is seating outside ready for warmer weather.

I had never been to the Gato lounge, but visited 3 times in a week. Different staff each time but all helpfully and friendly. 10 out of 10 for whoever recruits the staff. The food was of a good standard and reasonably priced on 2 of the days. 1st. visit was for coffees. Atmosphere was good with a choice of tables and chairs or settees. Outside seating overlooking the river and large glass widows give you nice views of the park. Toilets nice and clean. When driving on the A470 I would stop here

Lovely place to eat drink didn't eat on this occasion but what we seen looked lovely and plenty of people seemed to be very happy in and outside it's tad on the more expensive side which can work in your favour so you don't get boards of boys/girls out to party but always pretty full dog friendly pub aswel plus lovely to sit outside when weather nice

Good dog friendly spot in the middle of Ponty, nicely situated by the park. Table service would make this place. 💯 pc better.

Nice place to have a drink and some thing to eat

The food here is so good with excellent vegetarian options. I had the Carribbean curry bowl, so tasty. Tried some cake too which was biscoff and banana, it was also really good. Nice atmosphere and the staff have been great whenever I've been. Only complaint would be that the toilets aren't always the cleanest or the loo roll have run out but I'm aware I've mostly been at the end of the night on weekends so understandable.

Went here on Bank Holiday Monday. Had reserved a table to celebrate a family members birthday. Disappointing experience unfortunately. Was told at the till "about a 30min wait for food" which turned out to be closer to 50 mins. Definitely would have gone elsewhere if we knew it would be that long. Food was average for the price, but the venue and location is lovely.

We waited for a long time for food. One of our dishes was dropped on the floor, and we waited a long time for a replacement. We eventually had to ask for it. It was very expensive for what it was £4.99 for 5 small shrimps is extortionate. Mediocre is the best you could say. It was very busy so I don't suppose one bad review will affect them

Very nice establishment with friendly staff and very welcoming place for dogs. Food is of a good standard but is pricey for the area. Definitely recommend the tapas range.

First time here, on arrival I went up to the counter as there was no one at the “wait here to be seated” sign and asked for a Latte. Found a table to sit while waiting. First thing to notice was the table as it wasn’t very clean and quite a lot of food debris on the floor,I used the QR code to order my brunch, didn’t have to wait too long for my food to arrive it when it did it was at a warm-ish temperature so a bit disappointing. Overall good value and good atmosphere.

Was a bit late in trying the gatto lounge. But to give credit where it's due i could see what all the fuss is about. The food was delicious, the service was great, staff couldn't do enough for us and were brilliant with our children.

Had the orange czrrot coriandrr soup.awful.worse soup ever tates of thick mamalade Should have complainec but met with friends had'nt seen for yeats so did,'nt maje a fuss not impressed.

I'm sure it must be me, but I often find when I get to the Gatto Lounge that i dont really want to order any food! Everything seems so liquidy! I want to like the place and often visit but often don't order anything to eat.

Fantastic service from start to finish Dan was amazing great interaction with our entire party especially my daughter. Food was fantastic and the snack pot for kids is just a genius idea whilst waiting for food. Great place clean with a great atmosphere we will be back. Sorry I forgot the rest of the team names.

Great location and food. This place has become a regular eating venue for the family. Love the food and my 8 year is a big fan of the fish fingers. Personally I go for the beef brisket chill. Yum yum

The vintage vibe and great food is so different from any place i’ve been before. Me and my mam went for Tapas and was not disappointed. We had 6 dishes and they were each unique and tasty, However, I would recommend getting a garlic ciabatta each because scraping the dishes is necessary at the end as every dish is so full of flavour. The staff were super friendly and chatty and their casual looks add to the chill vibe of the restaurant. We also tried 2 cocktails and they were very well presented and tasted great. We went at the end of March and they had asked about a new banoffee cheesecake they had just added to the menu. It is unlike any cheesecake i’ve had before and tasted beyond description in the best way, To the chef, please keep that gorgeous cheesecake on the menu, it really is beautiful. Would 100% recommend going on a Tuesday after 5pm for the 3 tapas dishes and a free glass of wine and for the 2 for £12 cocktails!

As the rest of the Lounge chain - generally good food and good service. I live in the SE of England where the prices of the Lounges are acceptable, but I find the price range quite high for the South Wales Valleys. I think a bottle of not-quite-mid-range Prosecco was £29 which doesn't reflect the quality of the bottle.

Myself and colleagues visit the Gatto Lounge more or les every Friday for a drink after work. The staff are always pleasant and the venue has a nice atmosphere. A special shoutout to Dan who always reserves a table for us and is never too busy to stop for a quick chat.

We were put downstairs and it was so cold I had to put my coat back on ,when they brought cutlery there was only one fork , so we had to get our own, I ordered the goat curry, it was 88% rice, 2%sauce, 5%veg, and 5% meat, and as a meat eater , that spoiled it for me

Didn't have food just a few drinks to enjoy the view and see how amazing this new addition is to pontypridd. Great connecting bridge into the park so you don't have to walk on the road especially if you have children or dogs 👍

Tried to book a table for a party of 20 was told by the manager that its too stressful and walk ins won't be happy to wait! Won't be using this place again we have been many times with family and through work nights out, the manager was very rude and just refused the booking. Will not recommend to anyone

Had 2 pieces of toast and a 1 coffee. Toast was cold when it arrived at the table. Only 2 pats if butter and no offer of jam etc. Bit expensive at over £6.

Booked for my son's birthday on the 9th March all confirmed , then they emailed cancelled won't be booking again
