This little place has long been on my bucket list to visit and I was not disappointed. The homemade soup and toast was divine and the lady owner was kindness itself. Nothing was too much trouble and the place had a warm, homely feel.

Went in, sat down, was completely ignored for 15 minutes at least, so walked out. They were busy and we would have waited but there was no acknowledgment of our presence, despite walking by us countless times. I can only conclude that they are so busy that they can happily turn customers away. I do not recommend.

Called into this clean quaint welsh establishmen at approximately 10:15 on Tuesday morning. Knowing that everything is freshly made to order, I asked for 3 ham salad sandwiches to take away asap. My order was dealt with promptly in approximately 10 mins. The bread was fresh, soft and very thickly cut...the same for the ham. The salad was also fresh and plentiful. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming A fist class sandwich and establishment. Would highly recommend to others.

Décor underwhelming and everything needs a facelift. Coffee OK, food fine, staff really nice, toilet sparten and needed cleaning. Not much to recommend it I’m afraid except the food which was transport café OK.

This café has been established for many years. Has always been popular. Originally owned by Italians when all the valley towns were populated by"original" coffee shops in the fifties. Several changes of ownership since and the café is as popular as ever especially with office workers during lunch hour. Have been here a number of times and can highly recommend their "homemade" bread pudding. However ask for a portion of toast and you could be forgiven for falling off your chair when it arrives.Giant portions of bread with REAL butter and mouthwateringly wonderful. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend

Have recently been here a couple of times for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bread of Heaven has been a Pontypool place to eat for many years. It's a cafe, nicely decorated but nothing special to look at. But don't let that put you off. The service is superb, and nothing is too much trouble. Their meals are excellent, served piping hot and with good portions. I must confess that my favourite is their doorstop toast - real thick, freshly cut toast served with butter and jam - that just makes your mouth water.

My first visit to ponty for 20 years, was starving, firsty free parking, great, wandered around market and high street, surprised at lack of food outlets, although wanted outdoor seating was limited, on way back to car park, saw 'bread of heaven' ordered breakfast sandwiches and coffees, had to wait but thats good as food was cooked fresh-no microwaved bacon here!took out sandwiches to town park to eat, found a pleasant seat and unwrapped two doorstep sandwiches busting with fresh cooked bacon egg mushrooms, coffee also very nice, the heavens opened it poured, but we were not going anywhere until we finished, fab, give this place a try, service was friendly and lady serving ensured we had just what we wanted. Will make de-tour next time i am passing just to visit this place. Thank u

A family run cafe, serving traditional cafe food. If all you want is coffee and toast, or a full blown meal, you will enjoy it and come back for more. Friendly staff and a broad selection of fare on the menu at a price that will not strain the wallet or purse.

I just called in for a coffee while I was waiting for an appointment. Lovely traditional café - but with FREE WiFi!! Very friendly staff - homely atmosphere. Clean and comfortable. Had a look at the menu and there was lots of choice. Shame I hadn't had more time to have some lunch as it all seemed inviting.

Have been to Bread of Heaven several times in the past and forgotten to say how good it is! Nothing of the pretentious 'gourmet' variety but good and plenteous basic fare - well-cooked and satisfying. All the fried combinations we all love for a treat but lots of other goodies to satisfy hearty appetites - all AT VERY REASONABLE COST! Honestly, you'd be daft not to pop in some time soon. Cheap as chips...but much more besides! Parking's a pain but try the Tesco Car Park for free and work off a few of the calories on the way back. Perfect!

MORE AT TripAdvisor

From the road it's a quaint cafe, even the name suggests this. The toast that arrived with the breakfast was indeed the highlight of the visit. The decor is crying out for some colour or "art" or anything to personalise the space. The food consisted of bacon which was so tough as to be inedible, awful salty super cheap sausages, tinned tomatoes and fresh mushrooms, the fried egg was not as ordered so was promptly replaced with microwave scrambled eggs (i know this as the cook wandered through to use a microwave at the counter!!!!)£4:45 is fine for a quality breakfast in nice surroundings, this was neither. The counter staff were lovely but with only one other person in the cafe and my plate obviously done with, no one seemed bothered enough to collect it or check if I had "enjoyed" my meal. I live locally and have tried nearly all of the cafes, desperately trying to avoid the Wetherspoons in favour of a local business. But today's experience does not help. In its defence, the coffee was fine; but it's not enough I'm afraid.

Visited for late breakfast /brunch .Were in the area so we thought we would call in in for food. The menu again had a very good selection of dishes 2 Home cooked breakfast cooked to order. Appreciated the homemade bread, again toasted with butter; very tasty and the star of the breakfast .Mine was let down by unappealing looking & tasting “economy” sausages .I forced myself to eat one but left a good half as did my wife. Breakfast would be enhanced by use of better quality sausages. Would cost more, but would be worth it!Won’t go back again if in the area

I pop into Bread of Heaven quite often as I work very near. They have a wide range of food on offer from gorgeous breakfasts, sandwiches, jacket potatoes or real meals. They do a cracking cup of tea and coffee and all is well priced. The cafe is very welcoming and clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would seriously recommend the cafe and in particular their extra thick buttery toast! Yummy!

A friendly place for a meal or just a cuppa. The food is good unpretentious stuff, plenty of it and well prepared. The service is prompt and friendly. My only disappointment is that since the cafe was renovated it has lost its 1900s charm. A few years ago before the renovation it featured in a film (name forgotten) starring Faye Dunaway.
