This is a nice pub with outdoor seating. They held a memorial for my uncle last Friday, and they did him proud. Thanks to all at the Morlais for this special day.

Comida y buen servicio, con un ambiente agradable y de buena noche tenía por todos. 26 familiares y amigos para celebrar un cumpleaños de 18 y era la primera vez que comer con usted, pero no será la última. El tamaño de las porciones fueron muy generosos, real y chips de yum comentar el tamaño de la hamburguesa 😍 wow gracias de nuevo.

Personal muy amable y servicial. El buffet de la noche era de primera clase: Buena calidad, buena variedad y cantidades muy generoso. Sin duda nos alojaríamos aquí de nuevo. Nos trataron con el buffet, así que no puedo comentar sobre los precios.

Just had Sunday lunch and got to say it was fab xx best dinner I've had out for a long time xx

The food is very good. Steak was cooked as required (medium rare is medium rare). Lamb shank was presentable and sauce is good.

Been to the Morlais on about 6 occaisions. Food is well presented and hot and fresh. If anyone had cold food for take away then how far are they going?

The second week running we have had Sunday lunch takeaway from here and it will certainly be the last. Apparently under new catering management, they need to be sacked in all honesty. Food was freezing cold on both occasions, literally a spoonful of veg and two small boiled potatoes. Meat was ok but very little of it. And half a jug of gravy compared to a full one in other establishments we have visited in the area. The price they are charging for this dreadful meal is ridiculous, when you can get a much better and hotter meal for less at the Lady Charlotte just down the road. Absolutely terrible, avoid like the plague!

the bar needs a real overhaul,the carpets chairs and tables need a good cleaning.the staff are friendly and the food choice was good.the food i can only rate as ok,pub grub but then it was reasonably priced so you cannot expect silver service!!!the restaurant looked good but wasnt open lunchtimes so we ate in the bar which was very noisy.parking is excellent and outside is well presented,,,,,pity the inside was as good.

Clean trouble free pub with a excellent atmosphere. Great value food such is tasty and a nice pint. Entertainment most Saturday evenings and some Sundays. Like most pubs it shows a variety of sports The service is friendly and quick

The moment I phoned the tavern to paying for the food was a good experience.The staff were very friendly,the food was good and the atmosphere was friendly.Just make sure you go to the front of the restaurant where the car park is situated,it took a while to find.

We visited for Sunday lunch the food was of a very high quality with friendly attentive service our meals were good value and the portions generous. Drinks were reasonable in price and served with a smile. I Would heartily recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the area so much so as the title of my review say's my wife and I chose it for our wedding reception. I must add for that occasion Helen and Martin the couple who run the establishment were most accommodating with nothing being to much trouble.

A little gem of a resteraunt, tucked away in the heart of Dowlais, steeped in the Iron, Steel and Coal industry. Been there many times now and never dissapointed. It's not very big (seats approx.40-50) but it's full of character with the historical pictures and wonderful mural of Dowlais and the steel workers with faces glowing from the furnaces. You get a real feeling of being there during those industrious and dangerous days. The food is excellent. Fresh, well prepared, well presented and cooked to perfection. Very good choice of meals on the menu and individual tastes are catered for, anything can be requested, they always try hard to please. Specials, that change daily, are also available. Prices are reasonable by anybody's standards, but excellent value considering the quality of food you receive. Lunchtimes on weekdays you can have the earlybird menu, two courses for £10.50 (I think), including steak. There is also an OAP menu, 2 meals for £9.50. You literally can't go wrong. The staff are always pleasant and work hard to make sure you get what you want at the standard you expect. Nothing is too much to ask for. A Ramp is available for wheelchair access. Children are welcome and there are childrens meals available. Car parking is outside the resteraunt, at the rear of the pub. Normally plenty of room except Friday afternoons (workers stopping off for a swift one before going home). Unfortunately, the resteraunt has been closed a couple of times due to lack of interest. So always phone ahead to ensure it is open (01685722791). But when it is open, at lunchtime, you can generally walk in and sit down without reserving. The resteraunt is availble for functions, which means it is closed to the public when catering for functions, which has happened to me a couple of times. The bar meals are also excellent, so if the resteraunt is closed you can get food of excellent standard and value there too. BUT BEWARE, the locals in the bar use very strong language, particularly when watching sport on the tv. Doesn't bother most people but might be an issue if you have children. But it is their local after all. Sunday lunch in the bar is definately worth a try but it can get very busy, especially if there is a sporting event on the tv. They also do takeaway meals/sunday lunches which you can collect and take home if you want to eat inpeace and quiet. Try it.
