Table for 2. Food very poor, over cooked and poorly presented. Nice lady serving but food took ages. Half hour plus for main meal to come out then another half hour waiting for my 6 year old to get a brownie although they did give him spoon to wait with, we couldn’t wait any longer so we left and took him to McDonald’s instead. Over hour and half in restaurant for a poor burger and chips

Strangely, I've never left a review of my favourite chain restaurant, the Harvester. But after meeting Solomon, who is hands down the best server I've encountered in my many years of feasting on free salad, I felt compelled to. Excellent treatment throughout the meal and I vote not only Solomon to be a manager with his plucky, happy attitude, but also our next prime minister.

Breakfast was lovely and hot, we haven’t been back for a while but after today we will definitely return more often, our server Corina was very friendly

It was a very poor experience last night. We waited 20 minutes to be served and then an hour for food. I was intending to use a voucher for a free meal that I had for my Birthday. The kitchen had run out of rotisserie chicken, and customers were being told they would have to wait for an hour for chicken. We were advised to order from the small plates menu so did this. Some of the food was very poor. I had to go to the pass and ask for chips, and was given a small amount in a bowl (not worth £4). The garlic bread was terrible, they had obviously run out as we were given half a dry flatbread with some cheese on it. Then when I went to pay I was told I couldn't use my voucher as I'd ordered from the small plates menu. We won't be going back anytime soon.

Leonie couldn’t do enough for us. She made our experience the best

Staff brought my wife and I the wrong order after we had waited 45 minutes for the meal. The meal eventually arrived cold and over cooked. Drinks were watered down as well. Will not be going back. It's a waste of money.

Leonie our server was kind, warming and had a nice natural charm, she attended to our needs and requests with professionalism and really good with our child, food was nice and filling and salad bar looked fresh.

Asked for quiet area was put by two tables of screaming kids parents done nothing asked to be moved was told no other tables available we left without having food

Went for a quick family lunch. Service from Wayne was friendly and quick as usual. Food was good and 50% off. Will be back.

We were seated promptly, for our booking at 5pm. Our order was taken quickly and then the poor service began. We were given 4 salad bowls , 3 were dirty . While waiting to have this rectified , it was very clear that the waiting staff , were out numbered and overwhelmed. Once we got our salads , we then had to wave down a staff member for cutlery . Food was lovely once served. Then the wait began. Our server came eventually to ask about deserts and gave us menus. He did say he would be back in few mins. This turned into about a 25 min wait. Other tables were served who had been seated after us and had eaten. We had to ask another server about desserts. Eventually the desserts came, ice cream served on hot warm plates, melting fast. Without spoons. After chasing this up, a server came with some . Other tables had plates left for ages before being cleared. Overall good food , but a lack of serving staff.

Won't ever be going again salad bar has gone down hill drastically used to be able to go up and get your own bowl but had to wait to be given one and waited about 30 mins. The lettuce was brown the wasn't much choice with the salad at all the mains was absolutely diabolical chicken was like rubber ribs was very dry steak was alive having asked it to be cooked well done and chips was cold. I'm not one to leave a review but so disappointing used to love harvester

We visited during the lunch rush on Thursday so understandably a very busy period. We were served by Wayne who made sure we were seated and served very quickly! He was amazing throughout. Thank you Wayne!

It was a very busy day - lunch time during half term - but Wayne was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed regardless :) he was great!

All in all the place is really good, had a good waiter named Wayne and he couldn't of helped out anymore if he tried, had a mix up with the ice creams but he got it sorted out to have the normal ice cream not the vegan one

Was ok, short staff during a busy period.

Do not book with this restaurant. They cancelled our booking for 7 one hour before time. Using breakdown of equipment in the kitchen as the reason!! On passing to go to another restaurant looking through the window, it looked very busy. This is the second time they have cancelled using maintenance as an excuse. They will not have another opportunity to cancel a booking in the future.

Did not even get are food after 50 minutes of waiting was a joke in away and I bet I get the response of sorry to hear of your bad experiences I don't won't that I would rather the problems be talked about over the phone or in the restaurant to help others avoid the problems I had as it ruined are night out big time and we don't get meany times out sorry to say.

Asked for rare ribeye, came mostly well done by that I mean overcooked! Waitress brought Pinot instead of Merlot. Asked for peppercorn sauce, nothing except beef dripping, said no thanks, came with it anyway which I was grateful as the Steak was so dry I had to use it, peas boiled within an inch of decimation, soggy sweet potato fries and bruised tomato. For a £70 bill for mostly inedible food they knocked £15 off the bill. Awful don't go.

visited today 23/02/25 for a late dinner 1500hrs waited for what seemed an age to be seated as the greeter was having a lovely conversation with someone when we were seated our waitress was pleasant and attentive taking our drinks order asking us about allergies etc it all went drastically down hill from there after ordering our food silence, nothing we waited and waited watched others get up and leave we waited for over an hour for our food My mum 81 on mobility scooter had chicken (luke ward) sage and onion chips (something sage and oniony sprinkled on them) and some brown cube like things with sweetcorn in (not sure what they were) My partner had a burger (luke warm) chips (pot was hot chips were not) I had Steak (luke warm, asked Medium well got Medium rare) sage and onion chips (see above comment) with a side order of onion rings (3 or 4 onion rings all stuck together) normally I would have sent the lot back to be redone but we'd already waited an hour, so over all not the best dining experience certainly wont be returning

The food was good. Had a few issues with the systems the night i was there, so a few things were slow, and we couldn't get our desert. The staff were very friendly, though. Solomon, in particular, was a very nice handsome polite generous kind and funny young man

We booked in advance when we arrived. we were told that there would be a 40 min wait as there were staffing issues and given the option to stay or not. The salad bar was empty and remained that way the entire night. When the chicken stack arrived there was no stack just a piece of chichen with a pile of chicken shavings (like the ones in Iceland) I did ask if I had the right meal but I was told yes I queried the bits on top to be answered with aaa. There were only two staff on the restaurant floor, so dirty tables were everywhere and the floor as well. The food came out quicker than we were told. The glass I had had chips taken out of the rim. The staff were apologetic and were trying their best but very disappointing on this occasion.

I am a carer for people with learning disabilities and yesterday I took a client for lunch. Food was great but the service by our server Wayne was incredible! He took time with my client and didn’t rush her, he chatted to us both and was telling us about his time living in South East London, as I’m originally from London, and was so incredibly polite and happy. I’m not normally one to leave a review but normally people are a little flustered around my clients, but Wayne was the complete opposite and it’s compelled me to write this review. Harvester you have an amazing Server, and Wayne, thank you for the kindness you showed.

Lovely late lunch this afternoon. Not too busy, service was fab and food was good as per. Wayne was our server and was incredibly friendly - thanks!

Second time we went.the first time ee went the service was awful.there was 14 of us so thought it could have been because we were a lot.so we gave it another go tonight this time there were only 6 of us.we were there a hour and half before we had our food it wasn't very busy. Even yhe salad bar was empty couldn't have what we wanted.we complained again same as the first time .but again it fell on deaf ears.its as if the don't care.they neglect the restaurant customers to get the takeaways out on time. My wife asked for a medium rear stack and got a blued one.

After waiting for 15 minutes to be served we ended up speaking to someone for our order to be taken. We then had to ask for salad bowls when the server asked if we wanted to pay the bill! 40 minutes after ordering our meals came out and were completely wrong. My husband took them back. The manager came out to help sort the issues out. The server had lied to her about communicating with us (apart from asking if we wanted to pay the bill). He told her that he had spoken to us about our order! He hadn't. He spent more time standing at the bar then claimed that it was busy! The only positive part of the experience was Amy, the manager who was polite, friendly and helpful.

Was served by Wayne today. Excellent and speedy service. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was very tasty too and the plenty of choice at the salad bar.

We went out for my husband's birthday and we couldn't have asked for better service the server we had was very helpful with our order and her name was Leonie

Visited harvester for the first time, as its not normally the type of restaurant that i would go to and was pleasantly surprised, was sat quickly, salad bar was well stocked. Server was polite and helpful. Food did take a little longer than expected to be brought to the table, but expect that was due to it being busy. Will visit again. The only negative was it was a bit loud.

Haven't been to a harvester for years so decided to go for valentines lunch . Unfortunately, we won't be going again. Although a little busy it wasn't too bad but had to wait nearly an hour between starter and main. Food was dry, as if it had been under the lights for some time. Was gutted to have wasted so much food. Then waited 15 mins to get someone's attention to pay.

Was served by Libby at Merthyr. Excellent Service throughout. Was really busy due to being Friday and Valentine's Day. Kept us updated on progress of our food. She worked so well under pressure with others constantly asking about the wait. Even when extremely busy was asking people on the tables if they or me and partner needed anything and kept positive and smiling at all times. Thank you Libby for making our dining experience at Harvester Merthyr so lovely.

Today we attended Harvester Merthyr Tydfil reluctantly as on previous visits the food has been disappointing served luke warm but today our server Amy was friendly and helpful and the food was the best we have ever had at any Harvester the food was piping hot and the salad bar wasn't at all messy and mixed up

Haven't been for a while I had simply chicken and jacket potato. The chicken was a very small fillet and a tiny jacket potato the salad bar needs updating coleslaw dry. My husband had the original combo where previously had half chicken now it's just a leg. I ordered a refillable drink the machine needed re gaming. I was brought a bottle of coke. When finished this I asked if the machine was fixed she wasn't sure and said she's check but didn't return Asked for the bill the refillable coke was on there I refused to pay for it. She then took off the bill. Won't ve retuning very very poor quality food fir the cost.

Booked early for 80th birthday for my wife the table allocated was next to the window and was very cooled ordered rib eye steak medium. With a bottle of wine. Went to the salad bar lots of the items needed replenishing Had to ask for butter as there wasn’t any there . I’m on return to the table eat the salad wine had not been served had to ask where it was . Waited some time finished the salad before wine arrived . Main meal arrived after a long wait steak arrived but unable to to cut it as the knife wasn’t able to , had to go and ask for steak knives when they arrived was able to to cut the steak which was overcooked not able to eat either steak complained .would not be going back ever again not up to standard expected

I have always loved Harvester - mainly because of the salad bar tbh. My husband booked a table for 12:30 on Sunday 26th January 2025 and are order was taken very quickly, however there were no jacket potatoes so I had to chose an alternative for my meal. Thankfully the salad bar was well stocked and fresh (except for the rolls which were dry and hard) and I thoroughly enjoyed everything I stacked my bowl which I slowly ate while I waited ..... and waited ..... waited for the main meal. Meanwhile the guests continued to arrive - including several large parties with young children. Nothing seemed to be coming out of the kitchen and it was obvious there was a problem! By the time our main meals were served - almost 1hour after we had arrived - I was full of salad, but also extremely disappointed with what I was given - I did in fact laugh! The meal was incomplete (no coleslaw) and also badly burnt. The waitress said she would return the meal and returned shortly afterwards to advise me that it would be a while to replace. My husband accepted his meal - which was a mixed grill - which was also overcooked (but he was starving and doesn't like to complain). His medium-rare steak was well done; the chicken leg (not a quarter) was burnt and also over-cooked; the gammon steak and black pudding was like leather and the fried egg had a hard yolk but thankfully the peas, tomato and chips were at least edible. Due to the time factor I asked for my Camembert tart to be packed to takeaway which was arranged and I was served with extra fries and coleslaw. The waitress was extremely apologetic and admitted to difficulties in the kitchen - which obviously wasn't her fault! I also saw several other meals being returned to the kitchen - so this certainly wasn't a one off experience to us! Sadly my husband will never return to a restaurant that he has had a bad experience (which is unfortunate for me as I love the salad bar) so we will not be back, but this was an unfortunate incident and the waitress we had was great.

Wayne is an absolute credit to you we have never been treated so well in any Harvester. Chatting and very friendly. Adriano. cooks a fantastic fish and chips best one yet. Thank you

Lovely experience, was fairly busy but our server Wayne couldn’t do enough even though he had a lot of tables to serve. He was fab with our auntie and was personable, engaging and give us recommendations too. Great service.

Visited here several times and never once had a bad experience. Food is always good quality and served fairly promptly. Their new Combos are an absolute delight and would highly recommend. Looking forward to future visits.

****UPDATE*** I dined here with my Mrs 14/1/25 and was served by Amy and she is amazing, she delivered the best customer service I've ever had here. 17/6/24 Had food here for first time recently with my lady and the service was shocking. It was so slow it took quarter of an hour to be served all staff seemed to be on break at the time and i get it as it was midday and only 3 tables were there but still took ages to be seen. The food was lovely, only marking down for slow service.

Will not go there again fork and knife dirty,food was cold not one single thing on plate was warm very poor

Came here in the past and it wasn’t the best but after speaking to the team and ordering it was great, the team were so helpful and the food was lovely.

Breakfast was absolutely spot on as was the service! Definitely has improved since my last visit will be coming back 10/10
