A good old traditional English roast, nothing fancy just really nice food! I had pork wife had beef, Meat was lovely and tender loads of veg piping hot, lovely flavours, Owners and staff really nice & friendly. Atmosphere was down to earth, homely & allowed dogs. Had a meal during the week and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. Would definitely recommend going their for a pint & food, no airs & graces just a brilliant traditional pub!

I booked a table last minute to actually go some place different. We have eaten here pre repeated floods and were keen to return. The restoration has been carried out beautifully and compliments the riverside location perfectly. We had a table booked for 14.00 and arrived in good time, unlike some pretentious late comers who clearly wanted attention. We both had the Gravlax to start - a superb combination of flavours. I had the Fish and Chips for main and my wife had the Duck, we both thoroughly enjoyed the mean and the break. We will be back.

We stopped here on a road trip driving from the North of Wales to the South. It was a nice quiet place to sit for a while and relax. I ended up leaving my bag there by mistake, and didn't realise until we'd been on the road again for around forty minutes! Luckily, I remembered the name of the place, which I suppose had stood out to me because I liked it. So I manage to call, and they were very helpful. We came back and got the bag, and the staff were really nice, and I know that they had made a genuine effort to contact me to return the bag. It seemed like they really cared, as opposed to just shrugging their shoulders about things. All the staff seemed like good people.

This is a traditional British pub in the tiny village of Redbrook on the Wye river. There are two pubs in town, but I came here on the recommendation of the owner of the B&B I was staying in. It is on the main highway, easy to find. I had veggie lasagna. It was a very generous portion, served with garlic bread & a nice green salad. The food was excellent. The owner & the lady who served us were very nice. This is a hangout for the locals, & everyone was very friendly. I met quite a few nice people, had a good meal & an enjoyable evening

My wife and I stayed here for a night during a recent business trip. The setting is absolutely beautiful with views and local walks that are amazing. Check in was a bit hit and miss and not a great experience (I recall that the guy checking us in said they were short staffed) The welcome wasn’t particularly warm and the journey to our room a little perfunctory. The room itself was charming in an old fashioned was fairly spacious and had a good bathroom. The bar and restaurant experience was disappointing in general. There was no shortage of staff but none seemed particularly interested in helping us or smiling / greeting. They did warm up once we made an effort to talk to them and my feeling is that they may have been lacking experience or confidence. The menu was good and the food was delicious and served well. Check out was similar to check in, in that there was nobody at the desk and when I did find somebody the service was functional at best with no goodbye’s etc. All in all it was a pleasant stay but could have been so much better with warmer greetings and better service at both entry, exit and bar/restaurant.

Th Bell has lost none of its charm. On a summers evening what could be nicer to sit out in their garden sipping something sparkling before going indoors to eat?Th Bell has been a destination pub for a long time but is it still worth visiting. The answer is both yes and no. It still can hold its head high in terms of decor, ambience and usually service. However, it isn't what it was in terms of food. How we used to look forward to the amuse Boucher, succulent morsels which tantalised and raised expectations for the feast to come. On our last visit one solitary beignet lurked on a slate, dry and uninteresting, like an ageing model on a Spanish sunbed. Once interesting but now past it! The main course of steak was perfectly acceptable but not scintillating. It's fair to say you probably won't be disappointed unless you remember some of the highlights from yesterday year. It would be nice to see a bit more sparkle. Other restaurants in the area possibly have more interesting food, some at a cost, but none have the atmosphere that the Bell has. However, you cannot dine on ambience alone.

Recently my wife and I visited this cosy restaurant in Redbrook on our way back to Warwickshire after fishing for salmon on the famous Bigsweir Fishery a few miles down stream. On arrival we were met by the owner who was very friendly and welcoming. Despite having others to serve he gave us menus and drinks straight away. There is an extensive board menu with an emphasis on various and interesting steak meals. The wine was good and served at the correct temperature and the local customers at the bar were extremely friendly, welcoming and happy to talk to visiting travellers being especially proud of the area they live in. The food was excellent particularly the copious amounts of whitebait and the wild mushroom soup were memorable, delicious and tasted wonderful. It is a haven of friendliness good food and reminiscent of the days of coaching inn caring service exactly suited the wonderful Wye Valley whilst at the same time, having modern qualities of fine fayre, good refreshment and a welcoming atmosphere. We will defiantly eat there again.

The Bell Inn, is a fully restored seventeenth century building in Monmouthshire. It is situated in a peaceful spot overlooking the river Monnow and within sight of the ruins of a thirteenth century fortress built to defend one of the main routes from England. My Mother and I went to The Bell Inn for Sunday lunch for a special treat. When we booked we explained that I am a vegetarian and we were told that this message would be passed onto the chef who would prepare something for me on the day. When we arrived at the Bell Inn we found a convivial and welcoming atmosphere and we were comfortably seated in a spacious and well decorated dining area with a view over the garden at the back. The waitresses, with one exception, were charming and obliging. They had noted the fact that I was a vegetarian as promised and I agreed on the chef's vegetarian special which was a three cheese souffle and mushroom sauce. When my meal arrived I requested a yorkshire pudding to accompany my food which was immediately brought out for me from the kitchen. My Mother had Roast Pork and our meals were served with generous portions of cauliflower cheese and vegetables cooked, aldente, to perfection. The three cheese souffle with mushroom sauce was mouth meltingly delicious. My Mother enjoyed her meal of roast pork and vegetables although she had to send back to the kitchen for the crackling which had been forgotten. Each table was provided with a large bottle of chilled water to go with the meal which was a nice touch. We ate so well that, despite the tempting dessert menu, we did not have room for puddings. The desserts served at the other tables looked delicious however. The rhubarb and berry crumble and the ice-cream desserts appeared to be particularly popular. After our lunch my Mother and I went for a walk around the village and the castle ruins which was a lovely way to finish the afternoon. In summary my Mother and I had a delicious meal in a convivial atmosphere in a beautiful setting. It was a perfect afternoon and I look forward to visiting again.

We have eaten at the Bell on a number of occasions before and always found it to be very good. Having not visited for about a year we decided to go again this weekend - what a huge disappointment. Service, staff and food were all indifferent (2 young waiting staff were very good! ) we weren't allowed to order in the Bar and had to take our table despite arriving on time. Apparently they were very busy but this wasn't evidenced by full tables! Some of the food was ok but some was not good at all, overcooked pheasant, onion rings that came from a Harvester (including the smell of stale cooking oil!) and a pudding that at best might have made a school dinner menu. The senior waitress wasn't interested in any complaints - she was very rude and although they deducted the cost of the poor pudding there was no remorse and we still had to pay a service charge. I didn't make too much fuss on the night as it was a special birthday celebration and I decided to write the following day. I didn't want to post on Trip Advisor but my email to the Bell hasn't been replied to and they obviously don't take service seriously. We were a party of 6 and spend a lot of money - but we won't be going again and I'd advise anyone of thinking about it to look elsewhere. What a shame this was once a lovely restaurant in a great location. The new owners need to act quickly if they want to rescue the reputation of a once lovely restaurant

I hate giving bad reviews, particularly as this pub is not a million miles away from where I live. The last time I was here was about 5 years ago and my wife and I had a reasonable meal. I'll be honest, I don't even know if it has changed hands since then.My wife and I were traveling back from Birmingham and had decided to finish off the day with a pub lunch. We stopped off at two previous hostelries, but found them to be packed with Xmas revelers. A little disheartened, we soldiered on and when we approached the Bell, we noticed that there were only a few cars in the car park. We pulled up and I jumped out to see if food was being served as there were no apparent lights on inside. Upon entering, The whole place felt cold and damp. No heating! There were about 10 or so individuals huddled around tables in the bar with pints of beer in front of them, all in their winter coats and not looking all that happy. There was no barman and only one person perched on a stool in the corner of the bar. Not even a nod or a smile. My god, I thought that I had entered the world of the zombies. I waited for service and waited some more. Nothing. I glanced through a diamond shaped window in the door to the end of the bar. On the other side was obviously the kitchen and I could see a young lady prepping food. All of a sudden she licked her fingers and carried on. Need I go on................... I turned and left. If that was their standard of hygiene, then I'm sorry. This is not the place for me.

We came here for a family meal and was sadly left quite disappointed. We thought it was going to be a lovely meal, especially with all the mentions of home cooked food! To start with we was waiting a long time for our food, and the place was dead. 2 of the 4 meals were ok but the other 2, was another story! Both of the 2 were so oily but the main problem was that mine was inedible as it was so overcooked. I'm not one to complain usually, as I don't like to make a scene, but my main meal was so overcooked that I could only eat a couple bites (i'm not exagerating either). I struggled to cut it with my knife it was that bad, which is saying something! It wasn't something that can easily be burnt either. I had a quick apology and was still charged full price for mine, which I thought was a joke. Not a discount, free drink or even desert offered. I would have complained further about this, but I didn't want to risk spoiling the family night further, especially when our family had travelled down especially. The pub itself was friendly and the locals seemed nice and chatty. Overall though, we won't be returning sadly!

Just had fish bites and chips. Absolutely stunning!! The inside of the chips were fluffy and soft and the fish tasted so good. Will definitely call in again

Took my sales team here for lunch, 10 of us in total. The food is incredible and you certainly won’t go hungry. Everyone at the pub is friendly and can’t do enough for you. Feels like a good old fashioned boozer set in an amazing position on the Wye. Everyone only had good things to say about the place. Steak is a specialty here. No hesitation in recommending the Rose and Crown. Thanks all who looked after us that day.

Had to wait for table although booked. Waited a very long time between courses although when food came it was good. Very crowded and not a pleasant experience. Would not recommend and would not visit again

Lovely Irish landlady was extremely accommodating to me & my two boys.. Service was how service used to be before the big pub chains took over everything… Food was brilliant.. Had to have the bread pudding as haven’t had it since I was a kid.. took me right back! Definitely recommend and will return 👌🏼
