Good food and decent service. We came on a quiet Saturday for an early dinner and food didn't take too long. Biggest piece of fish I've ever had - absolutely massively with delicious crispy batter. Chips were "twice cooked" yet were still soft and floppy - usually twice cooked means they'll be lovely and crispy but sadly not.

Pippa the server was amazing and so friendly she was so kind we had the lunch special menu fish and chios and chicken in breadcrumbs and triple cooked chips so reasonable and a generous amount and home made sorbet and ice cream it was delicious will definitely be coming again 100 per cent recommended

We visited the New Court yesterday purely on the basis of reading an article in the Observer last weekend about where chefs go out to eat. James Summerin highly rated the New Court in Usk so we thought we would give it a try. It didn't disappoint - no starters but a mix of melt in the mouth beef and pork loin was truly excellent. Proper gravy, separate well cooked veg and complementary cauli cheese. A few homemade ice creams for dessert and a sticky toffee pudding. It's tucked away off the main high street but we'll worth a try.

Went for Sunday lunch on 4th Feb. The meal was fantastic. Service great too. Place is Lovely warm and cosy. Definitely going back.

I recently stayed here for 4 nights with Breakfast. The facilities are good,clean and comfortable. I had a dinner one evening which was very tasty. I found all the staff very pleasant and helpful. I stayed here to be close by my son who had recently returned from hospital. I really appreciated the help and support I received. Can't thank Lee enough!

We had Sunday lunch at The New Court. It was 1st class. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The Beef was unbelievabley tender and the portions were so generous. The children had chicken and that was really tender and tasty. All served with Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese.The service was really good with everyone being friendly and welcoming. Had my birthday lunch with friends on 12th January 2024. There were six of us and we were all impressed with the lovely food and the inn itself which was warm and cosy on a very cold day. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We will definitely visit again.

Excellent Sunday roast, generous portion of meat that was cooked to perfection. Smaller portion of cauliflower cheese than most restaurants however the rest of the meal certainly makes up for it. I had the broccoli and cheese soup for starters and can happily say my mother has been inspired to make her own! Great customer service from staff and a very cosy, welcoming ambience. Absolutely lovely little place! Cosy, friendly feel. Lovely people Superbly comfortable bed in a great little room - I was so glad of the cold fan as it was extremely hot all weekend. I was there for a wedding at the castle, it was a joy to stay there …and the breakfast was fabulous 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤗

Always clean, friendly, cosy and relaxed with great pub food - Sunday lunch is always a winner… try the chefs homemade ice cream! We are repeat offenders.

We went here for Sunday lunch and an overnight stay. Cozy, welcoming and delicious food with the Sunday lunch being among the best I’ve ever had (which is a lot!) Warm and comfortable room with a clean, contemporary finish. I enjoyed the nice soft bed but husband prefers his mattress like a floorboard so he wasn’t so keen but that was his only gripe, I have none of my own. Would definitely come back if fate brings us back this way.

Myself and my husband have been trying different places over the last few weeks for a Sunday lunch. This is up there as one of the tastiest so far. I had the cheesy cauliflower soup to start, it was lush and then beef for my main. The dinner was lovely, really tasty, plenty of it and loads of gravy. Staff were lovely and welcoming and even though there was a few people in there it didn't feel too crowded. Will definitely be back .

We decided to stay overnight in Usk on the way back to Bath after a family funeral. We'd stayed at The New Court before so decided to try there first. Luckily a twin room was available . It cannot be described as luxurious/contempary or boutique but it was extremely clean and comfortable and excellent value. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. The landlord and his staff were so friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay there again (hopefully not for a funeral) as we like Usk very much and know the New Court Inn will be welcoming and comfortable.

Friendly staff who are always happy to help, clean tidy rooms, best night sleep in ages the bed was proper comfortable. Good size bathroom. Food was great would definitely recommend a visit when you are in usk.

We booked a Christmas Eve table for my birthday for 12 people and preordered from the grazing menu; fish and chips, scotch egg and chips, haluomi and chips etc, all at £4.95 each and is was perfect! The food was just right for us and at a very good price. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were excellent. A perfect evening for everyone before Christmas. Many thanks to you all. What a lovely little b&b; and pub this is. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is absolutley delicious, cant fault it they have an amazing chef. Also the scottish lady at breakfast makes an amazing full english and genuine scottish porridge - yum! The rooms are beautifully decorated, lovely bathrooms with nice toiletries and every day there was homemade shortbread left in a little jar which was delicious. They had live music one time in the week which was very loud but really good fun and this finished at 11pm so did not interut any sleep. My pillows were changed upon request, they really cant do enough for you. Definitley reccomend staying here.

I stayed here whilst on a training course, and from the first moment I arrived, I was impressed with the place. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and my suitcase was carried to my room for me which was a nice touch,especially after such a long journey! The room was lovely-well furnished, and real care and thought had been taken with decorating, and the bathroom was very nice also. I stayed for 5 nights and felt like I got to know the staff, they were always happy to have a chat, and asked how my day had been when I returned from my course. The evening meals were freshly and beautifully cooked, the steak in particular was wonderful. Breakfast was also lovely-freshly cooked and delicious. There was an open mic night on the Wednesday which was fun, and I met lots of interesting and friendly locals and watched the music, and the bar had a really good selection of ales and cider available. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and honestly can't think of a single thing I'd change. What has stayed with me is the friendliness of the staff and the down to earth, homely feel of the whole place. Would highly recommend and if I'm ever in Usk again I would stay there again. Thanks for making my business trip more enjoyable with your wonderful hospitality!

We travelled from caerphilly for a meal out at this pub and its fair to say we weren't disappointed, the food was exceptional and fairly priced. (Hats off to the kitchen staff) My husband had the lamb and i had the fish and chips. We were pleasantly surprised with the decor and service we were provided with and we will return again. We booked last minute for 6 people on Saturday night. It wasn’t very busy when we walked in but I don’t know why because the welcome and the food are just out of this world. The service is polite with out being over the top and the drinks are very reasonable. Three of our party ordered the lamb. Although it took a while to come, the menu did state this as it was cooked fresh to order it was amazing and tasted even better than it looked. We were not disappointed and would recommend that you don’t visit Usk without paying this place a visit. You would be missing out.

A well established Pub stocking an excellent range of beers. Food is also on offer with the resident chef preparing all food to order with excellent presentation. The Pub also has several 'en-suite' rooms on offer.

Super friendly owners and staff who quickly rectified an issue with our food. Nice cider selection. Would only add that the Kievs need more garlic but are otherwise good quality. Gourmet Society acceptance is also appreciated on a Saturday. Would return but perhaps would have the steak if available, unlike on our visit.

A really delicious meal, beautifully served. The waitress was delightful and very efficient. This pub has it just right. A well thought out menu to meet various palates and a good wine list. My husband had seared tuna and I had chicken Kiev. Both delicious. The homemade ice cream is a must!

On a day out with two of my recently deceased wife's friends, so that I could show them the Country Life Museum and the school which I attended a long time ago in Usk, after a brief stop in Monmouth for coffee which was excellent in both its venue and views, I was rather concerned that we would be lucky for the standard to be kept up.

Nice pub with good selection of beers. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are small and basic but overall good standard.

Four of us went there on a Wednesday evening, and there was live music playing. The pub was very welcoming, warm and immaculate. Service was prompt and very friendly. Every meal was perfect, fantastic flavour and beautifully presented. It is such a friendly relaxed atmosphere, we couldn't fault it. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, everything was perfect; service, food, music and atmosphere and the pub is beautifully kept and prices very reasonable.

Took friends visiting from Chichester on a Saturday evening (they own a restaurant so was slightly nervous to take them anywhere) Received a very warm welcome, when looking at the menu at first we where slightly disappointed however when the food came out.....WOW......the presentation was amazing and it tasted divine.....the service was impeccable and the restaurant including facilities are spotless.....would definitely recommend this place (we pre-booked a taxi back to Pontypool, so no issue getting back £15) do feel that the owners undersell the New Court on the menu, it’s fabulous.....a must visit, you will not be disappointed.

Having been told about The New Court Hotel by some friends, my wife and myself decided to call in for a spot of lunch whilst in Usk.We both went for the fish and chips from the lunch time bites menu and it was very good.Just enough and both the fish and chips were cooked beautifully.The New Court has a lovely atmosphere with lots of character.The barman was very helpful and the service very good.We spent a very relaxing lunch time enjoying very nice food and I am sure we will be popping in next time we visit Usk.

We received a warm welcome and excellent service throughout. We chose to sit in the garden area as we were accompanied by our dog, who was also well received. The food was first class and reasonably priced. We had a lovely chat with the chef about his food combinations and also the local area. Lovely experience and will return if in the area again

You're in a rush, just want a quick bite for lunch, not a 3 course belly buster, but something more upscale than a burger van. Just passing through on a rainy Thursday at noon, the centre of town was packed - not a parking spot to be had. We ended up on a side street heading out of town in a direction we didn't want to be going when my wife spotted this pub, and a few parking spots! And they had three mini lunches/sharing bites/tapas - fish and chips, warm scotch egg with chips and, like Kevin Kline's character in a Fish Called Wanda, a third one that I can't remember because third ones always slip my mind a couple days later. Picture a crunchy sphere nestled amongst a handful of fat chips which, when you slice through, oozes runny dark yellow yoke. There works a chef that times his eggs to the millisecond. And the wife's fish - also perfect. Each for £3.95 and more than enough to send us back on our way with a smile. With a good array of Cornish ales and Butty Bach on tap, it would be a regular favourite if we lived a little closer.

Really delicious Sunday lunch with very friendly staff (Cory) who welcomed us on a late Sunday afternoon where we turned down by three other pubs for being full, run out of food it stopped serving.

I visited here last night with friends. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was fabulous, tasty and hot which is rare in a restaurant environment . The home made Icecream was awesome. This place is worth a visit . The only drawback for me is choice for mains I could only choose one thing which would limit when I can return. Having said that they do bring on new meals so watch the website

We've been here for Sunday lunch with family a couple of times before and were very impressed. We had heard that there has been a change of chef since our last visit but we were looking for something at the last minute for a group of 11 of us, so when they said they could fit us in an hour later we were relieved to have got in somewhere. Unfortunately it didn't live up to our high expectations from previous visits. We tried to view the menu online before our arrival but the web page wasn't working so we didn't know until it was too late that they couldn't cater for my vegan sister. When she asked the waitress, she was told that if they'd had advance notice, they could have provided something suitable. I would have expected them to be able to come up with at least one basic dish to offer her. Veganism is so popular now that it should be a standard menu option, even if choice is still limited. So my sister and her fiance left to get lunch elsewhere. I'm pescetarian so usually choose a fish option over the vegetarian but as there was no fish on the Sunday lunch menu the only main I could have was the roasted veg and goats cheese risotto. It turned out to be bland and luke warm. As service had already been very slow I couldn't face making an issue about it. I added seasoning which it was clearly lacking and managed to eat it, but my brother's fiancee also had it and left half of hers. We ordered my daughter's roast pork to come with gravy served separately, but when her meal arrived the gravy had already been poured on the plate. My mum and dad had tough, chewy 'crackling' and the veg that accompanied the roast was either overcooked and mushy (broccoli) or undercooked and almost raw (roast parsnips and roast potatoes). The side of cauliflower cheese seemed to be ok! We all gave up on the idea of dessert but our daughters wanted sticky toffee pudding, so they both ordered it (could have shared really, it was a generous portion) but again, it was below par; quite dry and cake-like, not dense and moist and no evidence of any dates in there either. The best bit was the clotted cream that came with it. Finally, I get that the place is old and has 'character', but I had to swap chairs as my first one was so unstable it felt like it might collapse at any minute and our table top had a serious wobble which got very annoying with 9 people all contributing to the tremors! Overall a disappointing meal, overpriced for the quality and we won't be returning.

We visited this amazing little restaurant today in the beautiful town of Usk. We all enjoyed the meal which was all fresh made on the premises by the head chef Douglas we could not fault it at all and the desserts were to die for all home made including the ice cream. Friendly staff and all nice and clean and it also has a pretty beer garden.

Came here whilst staying in Usk. From the outside it doesn’t seem much but the inside is a very characterful, spacious restaurant. Very personable and friendly staff, our waiter was absolutely lovely. Food was amazing - our steaks initially came out a bit too raw but when they came out the second time they were delicious- best rump steaks we’ve had in a while!

Lovely pub/hotel. Quaint old quirky building with character and sloping bedroom floors. Stayed here through the heatwave - luckily pillar cooling fans supplied with room! Lovely food which is proper restaurant quality not your normal pub grub. Restaurant used by locals which is always a good sign. They all know its good food as staff are quite happy to tell you about other local eating/drinking establishments - they are rightly certain you will come back here to eat! Great selection of ales which were kept in good condition and inexpensive. Top class big breakfasts included in our price. Nice garden area at rear to chill out in. The thing that makes the place special though is the staff - nothing too much trouble for them and they really looked after us whether it be advising us on local things to do or serving us tea before breakfast outside. Well done all the small team.

I stayed at The New Court Hotel in Usk on Saturday 9th June and had a wonderful experience. The hosts are laidback, friendly and attentive, and on hand with anything you might need. Check in was quick, the room was and en-suite was clean, bright and perfect for my needs. I had dinner which was really delicious, with top quality produce and well executed meals. There is a vast array of drinks to choose from, and the bar and restaurant areas have the perfect ambience for a family gathering, a romantic overnight stay, but equally as comfortable for a lone diner/visitor.

Both myself and my partner experienced Sunday lunch at The New Court Hotel at the beginning of May which we found to be faultless in all aspects. The meal was truly amazing to the extent that we have visited every Sunday since to experience the amazing lunch. Staff are always very helpful and my complements to an exceptional chef.When we can, we intend to have our Sunday lunch at The Court Hotel, without doubt.

Had a fantastic meal on way home to Bristol yesterday. Arrived at 6.30 and managed to avail of the evening meal deal with 2 courses for 12.95 which represents best value evening meal that we have had in some time now.

Having moved to Usk 2 years ago I had a really indifferent meal at the New Court about a year ago. But on a snowy Sunday not wanting to drive and having exhausted all other local venues We decided to take a chance! Oh gosh I’m so glad we did. The restaurant has been refurbished and is a lovely light and airy yet cosy space. The starter of seafood cocktail was delicious not too much sauce but a lot of both prawns and crayfish. Then the main event the rib of beef, served pink it was melt in the mouth and so tasty. Combined with a delicious gravy, al dente vegetables and an amazing cauliflower cheese this was without a doubt the best Sunday dinner in Usk we have experienced.
