A wonderful atmosphere, the service was excellent and value for money. We were a group of 5 and our orders were delivered together, unlike some places that stagger the delivery

We have visited the cafe for years. Today's visit was disappointing. The hot chocolates were warm not hot. We asked for two well done teacakes. They were burnt on one side and barely toasted on the other side. The quality of the teacakes were not at the usual standard, hardly any fruit, not much taste. After years of using Nichols we feel it might be time to try another cafe. Very disappointed.

Lush food and excellent coffees, highly recommend. Server was very happy and so friendly we had a laugh with her. I loved my vegetable frittata with potatoes, coleslaw and salad. My mocha latte with a choice of dark chocolate was gorgeous. Husband really liked his cheese leek and onion mash with bacon toppings and baked beans from the specials board. His latte was good to, both our drinks were in proper latte glasses. Were very tempted to have cake but too full. Loving the decor with hanging plants and murals.

Fantastic find! Food excellent , wonderful ambience and surroundings! Staff - amazing customer service, nothing was too much. So nice to be served by happy staff, especially Kevin who was attentive to all our needs. Thank you, will definitely be recommending you to friends and family.

Chicken Curry was 95% rice and 5% curry. It also had what seemed to be a small piece of cardboard in it. Left here feeling a bit ripped off to be honest which is a shame as previous visits have been fine.

Visited yesterday for lunch with friends.We had to wait for a table as it was really busy being a bank holiday weekend but we didn’t have to wait long.It was as usual well worth the visit, lovely menu choice, polite staff and freshly prepared food.This is my go to place for lunch in Abergavenny as the food is always really good

Hair in food. They did not take responsibility and said they don’t know how it got there. Hair was black. We have blond hair. The lunch was ruined for all. Then we were insulted by a £4.50 cash refund when this said meal was £11. The whole experience was great disappointment. Never again!

Great restaurant, lovely food and very friendly staff.

The food is absolutely delicious. The lamb cawl is devine! They have incredible cakes and the coffee tastes great. The staff are really lovely and I just love how they have styled the inside of it. I can't recommend the Botanical cafe enough, a real asset to Abergavenny and a really pleasant surprise at the back of a department store.

It was a Monday morning and the normal cafe we go to when visiting Abergavenny was closed. We came across this establishment by accident and we were certainly not disappointed. A varied breakfast and morning menu with a variety of cooked, cakes and toasted items. Prices reasonable with food and hot drinks were delicious. Staff friendly and very helpful (our waitress had a good sense of humour). Lovely atmosphere and very clean facilities. Will definitely remember this place on our next visit to Abergavenny.

This place is sheer class and our first time here in a rare visit to 'Aber'. For non locals the Lamb Cawl is a must have so good!

First visit for tea, coffee and cake. Was unsure if they were closed at 3.30 as there was a rope across the entrance. Staff friendly but service was very slow and not many visitors.

Lovely place, staff are friendly and efficient. Food great. Not really any more expensive than some places I've been and definitely worth a visit.

We met up with friends in Abergavenny and this restaurant had been recommended to us. Not at all disappointed, the staff were helpful and friendly, especially Kevin and Sophie. As we had a friend in a wheelchair and nothing was too much problem. Kevin took over the wheeling our friend to the outside terrace of the cafe/restaurant and made sure there was an easy access to a table. The food was quick after ordering and very good. We look forward to returning in the future.

food looked good but we didn't have any and a bit pricey too. just had coffees. not keen on all that hanging greenery where dust and bugs can fall, so will be giving the place a miss.

Said on web it was open until 4.30. Staff said that was wrong - last orders were 4.15. We were there 4.25. I reckon they were just interested in getting home asap. Really won't bother when I want a quick cuppa at tea time - and if we all do that they will go out of business and have all the time they want in the world to stay at home!

The staff are so nice here. We managed to seats on the patio. The food was good. Helpful staff made our day.

Well what makes makes a meal out a memorable occasion. For us it's good company , good food, great staff and good value; all 5* in this case. So off we go to Nicholls Botanical café. Our fabulous five experienced a great welcome and I was expertly looked after by Kevin who pushed my wheelchair through the hordes of happy munchers to a superb spot in the partially covered courtyard. The café was indeed bustling and rightly so. We nearly all chose different meals so I won't bore with all the details, although my wife and I settled on the bacon and chicken Caesar salad which we both agreed was the nicest we had ever had in the UK. So it was a 5* thumbs up for the main courses and we all felt the prices were reasonable and the quality of the clearly freshly cooked and fresh ingredients both delicious and of exceptional quality and value. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and Kevin and Sophie who were our main servers were genuinely warm and humorous, although it has to be said all the staff we encountered were clearly happy and contented. A great time was had by all and my only regret is that we live quite a distance from Abergavenny otherwise It would be frequently visited by us.

Thought I’d give myself a treat, how wrong was I, waited 35 minutes for a tuna and cheese baked potato. Gent next to me arrived 10 mins after me, had soup and a roll which was eaten paid for and departed way before mine arrived. As for taste!!, it’s a potato what can I say definitely not worth the money, or the wait. My First and last visit. Very poor service.

What a delightful cafe great staff

Little hidden gem at the rear of a beautiful shop. Visited today alone opted for a tea cake and a latte…. Latte arrived quickly , shortly followed by the teacake with butter. The decor is stunning and what I could see of the outside area that looked perfect too ( it was raining). Lots of choice on the menu to satisfy every taste and appetite. They were filling the cake counter while I was there and the scones looked immense. Will be returning very soon for afternoon tea with my mum

The staff are unusually personable and helpful in this stylish eatery. Prices are mid range I had a simple baked pot with tuna mayo my partner a panini finishing with cream teas.

Lovely decor, good choice of food, including a Specials Board. Both had toasties then a dessert- scrumptious 😋 Gluten free options available. Table service. Staff were a little slow in clearing our plates and seeing if we wanted any desserts.

Our light lunch was delicious, but the meal was made by the service of all the staff. The restaurant at the back of the Nichols store is a hidden jewel. Botanical decor enhanced the ambience.

A nice, varied menu with something to suit most tastes, with ingredients usually from local sources. The list of specials is changed frequently. Service can be slow and staff sometimes appear disorganised. A wait to be seated is common, especially on Saturdays. They have a system where customers are given a pager style device so they can browse the shop and then be paged when a table becomes available. The seating area is pleasant enough with its large atrium window. The atmosphere can be a little noisy. There are several booths which can seat up to four people and have a quieter, cosier feel. Partly covered outdoor seating is also available.

Beautiful cafe. Amazing fresh cake selection, which were extremely delicious. Staff were all very friendly and approachable. Went above and beyond for both my children to ensure they enjoyed everything they had. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon

Often come here as I love the jacket potatoes and my partner loves the Welsh rarebit. Staff are always caring especially Rachel who is fab.

Called in on a late Saturday afternoon for hot drinks and cake. Good selection of hot and cold drinks and plenty of cakes to choose from. Interesting decor hanging from the ceiling, toilets were well maintained and clean. Wait staff were attentive, friendly and eager...

Lovely atmosphere. Sometimes have to wait to be seated, but given a buzzer and never usually more than 10 to 15 mins to wait. My only gripe is that the menu states Granary bread, but it's actually SEEDED bread, which I don't enjoy. The waitress confirmed its seeded but then proceeded to ask a couple on the neighbouring table whether they wanted white or Granary! 2 completely different loaves.

Went in for a quick coffee and instead had a wonderful bowl of lamb cawl , piece of cheese and a hunk of bread for £8.95 each delicious .

I came into Nichols to buy a gift for my mum and two sisters. The lady working at the time was amazing, she helped me pick out the gifts, guided me to the cafe to feed my baby and wrapped the gifts then brought them round to me - she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and taken care of as a customer. The cafe staff were super friendly and quick with my order. They were super accommodating even though it was nearing closing time.

As a first-time holiday visitor last week, lunch here was a perfect start to the break. After being attracted by the online menu, on the day the Lamb Cawl had just returned for Autumn. It was rich and heavenly, and my buddy's toastie was perfect....

My friend and I had wonderful cake and hot chocolate here. The service was friendly and quick, the atmosphere calm the choice plentiful. May amend my review to 5* when I've tried more than cake.

We paid our first visit at the weekend and were very impressed. The staff were attentive and friendly and the decor is lovely. The food was well presented and we both enjoyed it. We will definitely be revisiting.

Nice lunch but very disappointed in the cakes. They looked nice but out of 3 different cakes the 3 needed improvement. Scone with cream and jam- hardly any jam and only on one side of scone. Plain scone no fruit and was very dry. Lemon meringue pie - pastry undercooked and hardly any lemon flavouring with a grainy meringue. Red velvet sponge despite frosting being nice, the sponge cake was dry and flavourless. No additional cream served with LMP or RV.

Always stop here for our morning coffee and shared panini when in Abergavenny. The interior design area of the store is amazing

Lovely place to go to also a mix of jewellery and other items I've given it three stars because they messed up the order we ordered hot chocolate without marshmallows and when it came it had marshmallows I don't have them because I feel that they are too sickly also the hot chocolate wasn't hot quite cool told the lady she went came back and we Repeatedly told her that we had ordered hot chocolate without marshmallows and it seemed like she wasn't listening and she said that we had ordered it and we kept on saying no in the end we only paid for a ordinary hot chocolate they cannot expect for us to pay for something we did not have
