We were here for a three course meal with a tribute band. The food was outstanding, the flavours were to be savoured. I went for crispy chicken wings, and chicken wrapped in Parma ham for a main. My dessert was peach cobbler with ice cream, sadly I only ate the ice cream as I had absolutely no room for another bite of food. It was warm and cosy by the fire. Service was prompt and the staff friendly.

This is THE best Sunday dinner I have experienced for a little while, so good that I've already planned to go back. Speaking to the staff all food is made on site and they start preparing from around 6am, everything we had was so tasty and full of flavours (I even ate the swede which I don't normally like). There was a slight delay on our dessert, but the customer service was brilliant and it was handled amazingly. Location is in an area of beauty being in the Gower, you can see the sea and there are some stunning walking trails around, very handy to quench your thirst

I have to say, when you pop in for an impromptu Sunday Roast and the first mouthful elicits an OMG - you honestly don’t expect to be blown away again the following week too.As well as every mouthful being a taste sensation, the presentation and portion sizes were consistently impressive; with the attention to detail, quality & freshness of locally sourced produce being high on the agenda - loved finding a locally grown romanesco nestled amongst the veg! Excellent service, great staff & cosy atmosphere.A visual/culinary delight - Highly Recommend

Dropped in mid afternoon for a pint today. The gent having Sunday lunch on the adjacent table, with the two hounds, had what appeared to be the beef lunch you’d dream of. His two dogs thought so too.So enamoured by the lunch and the cosy atmosphere, we thought sod it, we’ll order too.I ordered lamb, my wife beef. We did so on the convenient app.We waited a good while for the food. The staff were friendly, chatty and jovial. Considering the current times, we were pleased to have been there. The food came! Oh dear. Major fails! The plates came with a mixture of warm to cold, hard veg. Nothing hot.Food was piled into a deceiving disguise. There is a lot of meat? Nope. Two rather sad slices of grey matter, on both plates. Nothing to compare to the guy’s earlier. Fatty, tasteless, gristly meat. Hardly any gravy on either meal.In total, a sad excuse for a Sunday lunch. Ok. It was late afternoon. Ok, we’re in COVID times. If you haven’t got it, don’t advertise it. We had what was obviously a cobbled together excuse for a meal. If it is like that when quiet, it would be despicable when busy. Sorry guys, I see how you present how you pride yourself on service on the news etc, however you’re going nowhere, in my opinion, in these times, with the poor quality of food we received.

Had another cracking curry last night - Tuesday is curry night after all! Food and service were excellent. The pub have made all the necessary changes to make it safe for us and are going out of their way to guide people through the new setup. A couple of tables seemed to be having some problems with the app. but this was probably more to do with a lousy signal than anything else. The friendly staff dealt with these issues swiftly. If you’re coming here please give the guys a break. The issues they have to contend with are far greater than any we, the customer, may have. I live in the village (lucky me) and have been impressed by the way they’ve adapted but quite disappointed in the rudeness of some customers.

The food was excellent and so very tasty. However using the app to order was not straightforward as no longer do I carry a credit card, as I use my iPhone and ApplePay these days. Luckily my wife had a credit card hiding in the bottom of her handbag. Also, we drink only real ale and these are not listed on the menu, so as I am in the high risk category we went without a drink. In consequence we didn’t stay long and the pub lost sales. Sad really, because our visit could have been so much better. Oh, only an occasional table was sanitised between customers leaving and arriving.

Ignore the CLOSED every day TripAdvisor details, probably hasn’t been updated post-reopening. Ate here twice as it’s the only place to choose in the village but the curries were nice and spicy, the pizza fully-laden and black & blue burger was strong (good!) Stilton. Appreciate there’s challenges with current situation but would prefer to see servers wearing masks and helping customers abide by the systems in place a bit more. At least they are clearly marked out even if some customers need their eyesight tested. Luckily there’s a castle nearby. Some of the glasses didn’t look very clean and had to ask for table to be cleaned after being cleared from previous occupants. Wide range of lagers and ales, would like to see something crafty on offer. Ordering through the app was relatively straightforward.

We have done our bit to support eat out to help outOur last one was for 8 of us for lunch on the bank holiday. We ordered a mix of foods including 2 vegan options. Various drinks from guiness to latte coffee. Our table was ready on arrival and no rush to order. The app is great and we have used it on previous occassions, saves going back up to the bar.On this occassion we ordered at the bar, with 8 different meals and drinks, not straightforward, a breeze for the staff, clearly well trained and used to it.The food arrived together on a wave of trays. They make chips like homemade, perfectI had(another) 16oz rump, pepper sauce, really good.Burgers, steak pie, vegan chilli and vegan burger all really tasty, good portion size, too. After lunch it brightened up and we moved outside for a drink and a bit later desserts. Brownie with ice cream in the sun was the best. The system in place for social distancing is really helpful to give people confidence to get back to socialising in a comfortable setting, most customers followed the one way system/rules, In fairness to staff, its not the environment to tell people to comply, so many signs to guide and remind. A few people didnt follow the rules but in fairness how do you police stupidThe Kings Head, is a pub thats impossible to pass on the way home from the best surf beach on Gower, what's not to like. Food excellent, however ordering food was done via downloading app. Unable to get wifi connection from our table, so had to walk around pub a number of times to see menu, then order at bar. Simple menus on walls or laminated copies would be so much easier. Also waited an hour for 2 of the meals,by which time the rest of the family had finished. Waiting staff polite and apologetic, but management refused to offer free drinks as compensation. Far too many people outside, with little or no social distancing. Lovely location, great food, what a shame.

Thanks to the Kings Head team. We've enjoyed our many recent visits. Food quality has gone up since last season. Tried burgers, curries, chilli, pizza and pasta. And always having bowls of chips with a cheeky beer (or 2). The team are trying really hard. It's worth noting that unless you book getting a table to eat inside will be a challenge. It's a popular spot, and the only licenced place on route to or from Hill end and the beach. Sadly, we have observed some really poor behaviour of visitors to the pub and lots of moaning in August. Not sure what newbies to the area are expecting. Staff are polite. Toilets are clean. Seating areas cleaned. Food delivered as quickly as a small kitchen allows. Thanks Anna and team. We really appreciate how hard everyone is working and trying to make our visit to the pub enjoyable. And a few minutes here or there on the Gower only mean more time to enjoy the views.

After a long day walking on the beach the kings head delighted us with a great vegan menu. Although busy the food seemed to arrive quickly and the bar staff were super helpful with our (probably annoying) questions about what was suitable. The recently redecorated surf bar looked really inviting but was fully booked so we sat outside in the back beer garden with our dog who was very spoilt by the friendly staff. There is also a great selection of ciders behind the bar too. Can't wait to return!

Visited with my mum on a Wednesday evening whilst we were camping locally. Despite booking in advance, it took over 10 minutes to be seated (the process was to queue at the bar to be seated). We were told there would be a wait for drinks & the app stated minimum 45 mins for food but we were ok with that so placed our order via the app. Our starter (Flatbread and humous) arrived within 20 minutes which was great, but the carrot & celery it was served with was dry to the bone as if it had been sat out for ages. Flatbread was also slightly burnt but we ate it because we were hungry. Drinks still hadn’t arrived after 45 minutes. We asked twice to speak to a manager after requesting an update on drinks. We finally received drinks but they were served with one half empty bottle and with 2 other dirty glasses (unacceptable especially during Covid). I couldn’t believe it. When our mains came out we spoke to someone (believed to be front of house manager) who noted our drinks would be refunded and she would rectify the order straight away. It was rectified but I haven’t received a refund for the drinks yet. Mains (pizza & pizza fries) weren’t anything special - pizza tasted like a frozen shop bought one would. Dessert (crumble) was really good but it’s a shame the rest of the meal was a bit of a disaster. In terms of the pub it self, we were sat in the indoors dining area which looked unfinished and shabby (not chic). There was a one way system but not adhered to with people squashing past each other in the corridor to get to the bar. It felt like the pub had tried to maintain maximum capacity whilst not being able to service this in a safe manner so for these reasons we won’t be returning.

My parter, dog and I stopped here for breakfast at the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no queue unlike everywhere else... this was obviously a sign we did not read... When we arrived the staff scorned at us for having our dog (toy poodle) with us outside, despite all the dog friends signs around the pub, inside and outside. When approaching staff after attempting to get the staffs attention for 30 minutes (the pub was empty, no customers) I politely asked if I could order food. The staff member responded stating they don’t serve food until 12, which I replied that there up to date website states they serve breakfast up until 12. The staff member said very rudely ‘if you want breakfast you can have that, we only do full English’. Personally I thought breakfast was food too lolAnyway I ordered politely as possible to the rudest staff member. £11.50 for a veggie breakfast and orange juice... I was hungry and so was my partner... I didn’t think about the price at this point. It’s came... 25 mins later and cutlery (I needed to clean the grease off) a further ten mins later (food is now stone cold) all I can say is if I was a 5 year old I would be full, sadly I’m not, I’m 30. This breakfast was the smallest breakfast I had ever seen at a pub/restaurant, my veggie sausage, toast and beans were all very much social distancing on the plate. I had also requested my egg will was cooked though, not runny as I’m pregnant I’m unable to eat runny yolk (which I would normally love). It came very runny, I asked the waitress if I was able to have it cooked through, which she replied it is cooked (my partner was lucky that day and had my egg too. My orange juice was also a total of 1 gulp haha. We were both so displeased with this experience, we just couldn’t help but laugh. At least it was a beautiful sunny day despite the gloomy experience to start. At least I know never to return.

We really did not like this place. First, the entry from the car park was marred by the sight of a flooded builders pit, with pipes and god knows what sticking out of it. This was right against the pub wall. Entering the pub the first thing encountered is a bar billiards table, and the bar itself was obscured by locals who looked at us as if we'd come from the moon. The bar service had no warmth at all - purely functional was the best description. This place has no heart, but it does work if you are hungry and thirsty, but these days there has to be a little more than that.

However when we got there it wasn't suitable to eat due to cross contamination. Some in our party stayed and ate and said it was OK but nothing amazing and the toilets were really not nice. A little cafe by the beach was amazing and could accommodate our allergies with really scrummy food and a great view. Allergies are a real pain for all involved and I understand the difficulties food prep and cooking cause as we live it every day but some places are so much more willing to make it less risky.

The outdoor seating has great views of the church, headland, etc. The fish and chips were really not great with a competition between the warm bits of chips and the mushy fish for last place. Some money is obviously being spent on this place as the rear terrace is a work in progress. We stopped for lunch before the beach and a drink after. Nice place to sit outside, good view from the front terrace. Good menu but would say the food is average, we had sea bass and swordfish, but the swordfish wasn’t the nicest fillet (have never had fatty/grisly swordfish before). The worst thing about this place are the loos, two unisex cubicles which I am sure don’t comply with the law as the doors of each cubicle are not floor to ceiling and they share a wash hand basin. I felt very uncomfortable using them and my son independently said he felt bad when he was waiting outside when he knew a lady was in there. He said she looked uncomfortable when she came out to see him waiting. This would put me off revisiting so I hope they are going to be refurbished. This is the reason for two stars and not three!

I have stayed at the hotel here previously and enjoyed it so brought my family for dinner whilst in the area. There was a good selection on the menu, vegetarians were catered for. We missed the specials board which was annoying. There were was a good selection of beer. Service was good though I think they forgot we ordered desert at the outset as we were waiting some time for this, whereas the rest of service was quite seamless.

We visited the Kings Head on a Tuesday evening, advertised as Curry Night. We were looking forward to the evening and were told that a booking being at 7:30 pm would miss the “rush hour”. We didn’t think too much about a wait of 45 minutes, as we thought they were busy. But after 75 minutes, Concern was setting in. After enquires were made with the Manager we were told that our order had not even been started and there would be a short wait. Apparently, problems with there digital ordering system. Finally, 90 minutes after the order was placed, dinner was served. There was also another couple waiting for the same length of time. No offer was made to rectify the situation, other than apologies. As we were overseas tourists, there was no dinner alternatives and we just had to wait for our meal. A Big Disappointment.

Heard good things about the restaurant. Booked table as it gets busy. Guinness was a bit too cold but in good condition. Had to pay for every transaction as we ordered because I couldn't open a tab. Was a pain. The whitebait and fish and chips were ok but we've had better.

We visited the King's Head on the Saturday evening of the May bank holiday, so we were expecting it to be busy and booked ahead. We were a group of 8 with two dogs, so sat in the bar area.

Went for a lovely meal and drinks at the Kings Head I had the Lamb steak with a Salsa Verde sauce and my partner had the braised pork belly with mustard mash, both we're delicious and the service was quick and friendly. The menu had a good selection as well as a very tasty looking specials board(Our dishes were both from the specials) they had a huge gin collection and a local ale. We did pre-book a table but was easy to do and specified a dog friendly table(they have a dog free area but majority of the pub is dog friendly). We would recommend to anyone staying locally.

Really busy but able to be seated quickly. The food came soon after arriving, VERY GOOD. The pizza was a little too cheesy but over all very good. Recommend it highly to anyone in the area. It’s a short walk from a campsite by the beach. There is a great atmosphere, there was a bit of music outside when we where here. Overall OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!

When you're the only pub for what seems like miles, you're in a pretty village and you have a gorgeous beach on your doorstep you'd think it was a licence to print money, but the King's Head clearly has to work hard to keep the doors open - and nearby shuttered pubs show what happens if you can't keep the punters coming across the threshold.

The is another great local on the Gower. It is welcoming, friendly and busy- so best to book a table. The staff work hard and the place runs like clockwork. It is good to see a range of veggie dishes with vegan options. Nothing fancy. Just good honest food served with care. We went for lunch and then returned for dinner and the gin festival- 3 providers all offering tots for tasting. We loved the Cygnet gin, locally made in Swansea, with botanicals including pink grapefruit. The pub itself carries a wide range of gins and they make a mean G&T.; It lifts the spirit to see locals and visitors enjoying an evening in relaxed and happy surroundings.

Great place to visit especially in the summer when you can sit outside. They have a great menu here. On a recent visit, in March we had a Sunday roast here which was good, I recommend sitting in the bar though as the lounge was quite cold - we weren't the only ones who thought this....Worth going for a good meal.

Popped in on the off chance lunchtime whilst touring round a cold wet Gower peninsula (still beautiful though). It was quiet but the lady behind the bar put some more logs in the log burner and it felt very cosy. Good choice of veggie food, I had an excellent chick pea curry, and as we were in a pub I had half and half chips and rice. Tasty, satisfying with a subtle bit of hot chilli wang to it. I bet they will be busier in the nicer weather, but I am sure we will be back to try it again. Give it a go, it was a nice experience.

We stayed here recently for three nights. Highlights of our visit were the comfortable accommodation, the friendliness of the staff, the warm welcome for our four legged companions and the food. We would like to complement the chef on a super list of specials and the service was excellent. The locals made our stay very memorable and we would highly recommend this venue for Value for money and a perfect location for walks along Rhossili Bay.

We booked ahead for a special birthday meal and when we arrived our table wasn't laid, there weren't enough chairs and nobody greeted us or brought us menus. The staff seemed unsure where to put us and we ended up moving to the bar. When we went to order at the counter we asked if we could start a tab and the answer was no. The food was average but expensive for pub grub. Two out of three steaks were excellent, the third was inedible, and when we brought this up there was an apology but no offer of a refund. We eventually got a couple of desserts on the house. Very, very disappointing.

Lovely food, great friendly staff and really good service, only disappointment was the lack of disabled toilet for my Mum and access from front with a few uneven stones ! Would be nice if this was looked at as we are locals and eat out frequently on Gower .

Village centre pub with accomodation in buildings to the rear. The pub is pretty good and has a good food menu. The lively bar serves Gower Brewery ales which where in good order and very tasty. The accommodation is very modern and extremely comfortable. Altogether a really good place to stay. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I arrived on Curry Night (Tuesday) and there where ten different dishes on the curry menu alone! The one I chose was excellent.

My wife and I spent three nights over a weekend at The Kings Head recently and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The accommodation was excellent - large room with big, comfortable double bed, lovely wooden furniture and good sized bathroom with an adequate shower. The room was serviced daily and was spotlessly clean. We booked a table in the restaurant for each evening, and were glad we did as on both the Friday and Saturday evenings the pub was very busy. Once we got used to the ordering system (the same for everybody, wherever you were eating) - order at the bar and give your table number - every aspect of our meals were excellent. Generous portions of perfectly cooked and flavoursome food (real chips!!!), and excellent service from all the attentive staff. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the whole oven-baked sole with a parmesan crumb was simply delicious, so too was the fillet steak stroganoff. We had a longer wait for our food on the Friday and Saturday evenings as the pub was very busy, but we expected that. The wait was not unreasonable and we thought their system of ordering and delivery of the food to tables worked very well. The menu is extensive and complimented further by a large number of specials. The Kings Head is all things to all people - it is a village local, caters for walkers, families, dog owners, casual visitors and is also a quality hotel. And it does it all pretty well!

The chef is amazing all the food served was delicious, especially the full cooked breakfast, and very good portions.

This pub could be so much more. Is in the heart of the village and is the only one so has a captive market. Perhaps that's why the food was just average and the service the same. Waited ages at the bar to be served although the waiting staff were good. Feels like the whole place needs a good clean as dust and cobwebs on the windows which felt like hadn't been opened forever.
