Bistrot Pierre in Swansea

I went with my Mum for a 3 course meal and it was absolutely lovely. The food was absolutely second to none- especially the steak! The prices are also very good for what you get.My server was Josh and he was lovely. I am only putting 4 stars instead of 5 as the service was pretty slow, and i have found this the few times i have been here before, it always seems pretty understaffed with one server covering so many tables themselves.

superb view point as restaurant is located on second floor. Food was fine. setting was impressive and i found the staff to be courteous and friendly. The one disappointment was that it was card only payment. I know its convenience but come on guys, we dont want to lose the freedom of cash. People should be given the option.

Came here for a friend’s graduation dinner. Lovely place, kind and respectful staff, underwhelming food, great drinks.

We have been a couple of times before but today was really really nice and relaxing ☺️ Went for Easter Sunday lunch as a family and Jess was our waitress- she was fabulous and we felt really at ease and not rushed at all. 3 courses and they were lovely and portion size was fantastic- starter’s were mushroom on toast and chicken pate our son had garlic bread - mains chicken Sunday dinner and beef Sunday dinner, large homemade Yorkshire’s, fresh veg and the meats tender, son had pasta which was a large portion for child’s meal 😀 Will definitely be going again 🙌

Long wait between courses and to get the bill. Waiter didn't know how to open a bottle of wine which had a cork.

Often a popular choice for us to visit whilst in the Mumbles and I booked this during my birthday week. Had a lovely welcome upon arrival and although the restaurant was busy there were plenty of staff available serving. Milly was our waitress and she was superb - even wished me a happy birthday when we ordered our wine. Food is very good and the setting is lovely especially on a sunny day. The Boeuf Bourguignon is always a favorite of mine and is always cooked to perfection. The Prawn Provencal is also always very tasty Looking forward to our next visit

What a lovely view of the bay off Swansea. The whole area. The food was the best I've had for a long time. Good service and friendly staff. The rest-rooms are very well presented. Whlchair access and parking close by. Very clean and tidy. Highly recommended. Trendy area. Nothing negative to report.

Beautiful restaurant by the sea. Exceptionally great view's. Great for celebrations or friends and family dining. Great table service. Alcohol drinks available. Beautiful in the summer with the outside seating. Would advise to book a table. Family friendly. Ingredients are cooked fresh. Expect to pay 20 each person but worth the money.

Went last night for a birthday celebration. 17 of us. Service was amazing for such a large table. We had preordered and prepaid food. Place was full so a fun vibe. Favourite food was the minute steak.

Very disappointing experience at Bistro Pierre in Mumbles. As a vegetarian there was only a meat burger option on the set menu. In other Bistro Pierre’s they have been more than happy to give me the like for like vegetarian burger ( same price on the main menu). However not in the Mumbles restaurant. Miserable and poor service. Not asked if I wanted dessert as I had to order from the Al a carte so no pudding either. Disappointing. Suffice to say we will not be returning

Really great food and a very reasonable set menu. I would definitely recommend this place and come back here. The service was pretty slow, especially on drinks. But the food and atmosphere made up for it. Only comment on the food - a crème brule should come with a shortbread biscuit! Beef bourginon was wonderful.

Very popular venue, and would say it’s average in all areas. However BEWARE there is a “discretionary “ service charge applied to each and every purchase, whether it’s a glass of juice, a pint or a meal. Even when asked to remove the charge they persist in applying it. As most people pay with contactless cards , one doesn’t realise it has been applied. Not sure this is legal !!!!

A very pleasant ambience in Bistrot Pierre. We were all in the mood for ‘comfort food’ and the menu ticked that box.

I don't know why we went back. As always, the staff were polite but there's obviously not enough of them. The food took over an hour to arrive and was mediocre in quality and the bill was wrong. At least they're consistent! Needless to say, we won't be going back again.

My friend's dad took us out to dinner here. We had a two-course meal each at Bistrot Pierre - prawns for starters and then the Hammock spinach and poached eggs (one of the gluten free options) as the main meal for me. Idk what the spinach was braised in, but it was sooooo good! The portions were quite generous, and the staff welcoming and kind. They made it a point to ask us about allergies before they took our orders. Completely loved it!

Only one vegan option but did taste nice. One meal was tiny more like a child meal. Service was not great. Kept saying they will be back with things that never turned up and they weren't even that busy

We have been going there for years always enjoy food , good service , friendly staff & very clean in the restaurant and toilets . That’s why we have bought vouchers over Christmas for making the most of 2024 . But unfortunately last Sunday it was like walking to a different restaurant .: it was very dirty all over the floor , toilets , even the table and the bench were filthy ! Food was ok but the service was very poor ! We didn’t pay for the service charges & we told them why. They told us they were short of staff that day but to us looked like they wanted to accommodate as much as possible even with short of staff … we are considering not coming back

Another great meal at a fair price - always worth a visit

Booked on line quick and confirmation straight away and a reminder on the day. Meet and greet by Gareth very pleasant he was, lady waiter came within two minutes asking us for drinks , if you are a member you get a free bottle of wine to have the week before and a week after your birthday, ( there are other choices to pick) so ordered the French wine 🍷 which is priced at £22 ,so it’s very nice, she brought a carafe of water and two tumbles that were on the table, we asked her to come back in a few minutes to order our food. Brie starter for both. Confit of duck And rump steak,cooked to perfection. Apple and plum delicious. Service excellent by the lady who was Italian 🇮🇹 and the gentleman,sorry didn’t get your names but thanks. Service charge included which was fine by us , also money taken off the bill as I’d picked up points on previous visits. Quiet busy at 2pm but not overwhelmed, highly recommend this restaurant as we don’t go on a regular basis but notice they can keep the same staff there , so they must be doing something right 👌,

We’ve been going to this restaurant in Mumbles for a few years, always been impressed with the cleanliness, service & food. So as a Christmas gift I purchased a £100 gift voucher, thinking it would be a great experience for us in early 2024. Big mistake, huge…… Today was like stepping into another establishment, we had to clean the seats before we could sit down, the table was filthy, we asked for water which came with no tumblers, the wine glasses had to go back as they both had lipstick on, we waited nearly an hour between courses, the floor & general appearance of the place was filthy, we weren’t asked about our food, when the main meals came we weren’t asked about condiments…..you get the picture. I did decline paying the service charge & explained to the member of staff why, to which I was told they were 2 staff down. I get hospitality is tough & staffing issues can cause last minute shortages, but in that case shut down sections of the restaurant to ensure the level of service is retained for fewer customers, rather than giving terrible service to everyone. At this moment this likelihood of us making the hour car trip to go here again is unlikely & I wouldn’t recommend for anyone to go, based on todays experience.

Late lunch with hubby. Went for the lunchtime deal - £12 meal. My Pork Medallions were to die for, my husband had chicken reisling, he was delighted: Lastminute booking, glad we did this. Nice bottle of house white to add to the meal.

Great food and service with a lovely atmosphere

Such a lovely restaurant. Setting is great. We have been here three times and it has always been fabulous. The cocktails are lovely and recommend the French Martini. Their own wine is very good. Dessert wine so lovely. Food is delicous. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere.

I was recommended to eat here by a friend, over Prezzo next door, and she was 100% correct, better all round imo! I had a wonderful 28-day aged, medium-rare steak and it was perfect, absolutely delicious! Lucy, my server, was very welcoming, great fun and had a really good knowledge of the red wines, recommending a glass of Malbec, which I also thoroughly enjoyed, thanks to Lucy you STAR, and the excellent Chef of course! GREAT FOOD, GREAT WINE, AMAZING SERVICE, 10/10!

Hadn’t booked but a table was found for us 7! Service , good, drinks order taken promptly, food arrived in very good time, everyone happy with their choices and we were left with no room for desserts ! Friendly and efficient , clean and reasonable value. Well done! Sundays aren’t the easiest but you were on point 👍🏽👏🏼

Lovely evening with fantastic service

Once again another fabulous meal, excellent service in pleasant surroundings and great value for money. Food is very authentically French, have travelled to France extensively over the years and Bistro Pierres takes us back to France every time.

I ordered soup of the day and asked a waitress what it was, I was told it was french onion and so I ordered it. When it turned up it was Carrot soup. I went to tell the manager as I thought it would be good to advise her that some of the staff may think the soup of the day is french onion. She instantly got defensive and said she'd told my family that it was Carrot when she sat them. I wasn't complaining I was just letting her know and she made me feel like a mug. Bad vibes. She could easily have been nicer about it.

Lovely food in the bar -exceptional service by Clare especially as she was the only waitress. The offers were great as we got free bread and an offer on wine.

A very nice place to spend a few hours. The staff are very good. The food is good and overall the place has a great vibe. One niggle was my sons french fries were lame, no better than McD's once less than piping hot. My son told the waiter the score. The polite response was sorry, I will tell the chef. Not quite enough guys. EDIT I visited again today. I Still like it here. I made a choice of a weak main course a veg tagine. It was ok but totally forgetable.

Went tonight to Bistrot Pierre for birthday celebrations- enjoyed the six course gastro set menu Beautiful spicy cauliflower soup followed by baked Brie were amazing Mains was a choice of pork belly with a lush apple and potato mash then , a berry bread and butter pudding with ice cream was delicious Cheese and coffee to finish All food was amazing - Hannah was an excellent waitress - overall exceptional food and lovely night out - would recommend

Very disappointed with the service and the food. We waited nearly an hour for our food to be served whilst around us many many tables were served before us We had to ask where our food was When they came some of the meals were very poor, the pork was bland and the steaks were over cooked. One of the steaks was so bad it had to go back but this only added to our wait. We had children with us but when we were asked to order drinks the waitress did not point out that children's meals came with a drink even though we questioned her about drinks for children. This added a needless £10 to the bill. The manager did come to speak to us when we complained that we had waited so long for service that our 2 hour parking tickets were running out, his attitude was appalling. More or less inferred it was normal practice. Never again.

Beautiful food, lovely staff and of course gorgeous view. Timing was perfect. Prices are reasonable for the quality also.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. The area is beautiful, and every dish was beyond expectations. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did it was not my place of choice or the type of food I usually pick, but I am converted, and I would highly recommend Bistro Pierre. I will definitely be returning/recommending this place to anyone going to the Mumbles.

Had a great Christmas Eve meal, there were 14 of us and we all had lovely food and friendly, efficient service. As always the atmosphere was warm and welcoming in the bar and restaurant. A special thanks to all in the kitchen.

Second visit at Christmas. Booked on line as we travelled there and were very pleased to get a table as people were waiting. It was very busy but the food and service were good. We did sit backing onto a large family party. That was fine except one adult was leaning on me when she got up to talk to her family and looked annoyed when I turned to move! Also children were running up and down. Not the restaurant’s fault but I imagine the servers found it irritating to get past them. Recommend the crème brûlée - just gorgeous! And they make a mean negroni! Lovely Christmas decorations too.

We have visited the bistro on numerous occasions and enjoyed, but on this occasion we felt very let down, I had the misfortune to have a large hair in my festive 2 course turkey dinner. Not to make a fuss, my wife quietly got the attention of the waiter.after being shown the hair, he removed the plate without an apology. My wife’s meal was getting cold whilst we awaited the return of a fresh meal. The new meal came piping hot in contrast to the lukewarm original plates.However, even though a fresh meal arrived, the hair had put us both off and we left quite a bit of our meals and left the restaurant. On the exit I complained to a member of staff who was at the till. I reported the hair and the fact that no apology was given, he apologised twice. But if I hadn’t have mentioned it, it would have been forgotten about. It made us feel that having a ruined lunch did not matter. To add insult, we realised when we left and checked our bill, that we had been charged and had actually paid a surcharge of over £6. We are part of the loyalty scheme but we will not be returning. A spoilt birthday celebration for my husband.

Hair found in dinner,meal taken away and replaced with no apology. Also by this time my wife’s dinner was getting cold.Could not wait to leave as it was a big put off for us. told a member of staff by exit. On exit I explained and got an apology from another staff member but unfortunately too little too late. The only thing I regret is not asking for the service charge to be taken off the bill. We have a loyalty card but will not be going back. An apology is free and should be instantaneous and it means a lot . My birthday celebration with you was not the best.

6 dined today 17th Dec at 1pm. 2 had beef dinner which both said beef was fatty and tough. 4 had various other meals and very satisfied. Will not have beef Sunday lunch again.

It might as well have been a glass of water. The bill came and I asked for this to be removed along with service charge. At no point did our waitress ask why this was or offer any sort of apology after the hint that we may have had a bad experience. At no point throughout our meal did any of our servers ask as how our food was . . . Probably because they knew it was poor quality and preferred to shy away from dealing with any complaints. As we were leaving, it was lovely to see the energetic attitude two members of staff had towards creating a festive social media post. We had to step over them to leave. Shame the same energy wasn’t applied to serving your customers. We used to look forward to visiting Bistrot Pierre . . . Sadly we will not return.

Had a great Steak frites and they did a special dessert plate for my son with no problem. Amazing view of the bay. Really nice lunchtime.

Really impressed with the 5-course Christmas menu, tasty good food.

Visited for the soirée gastronomique evening. We arrived early for our table and were able to be seated straight away. Even though it was busy our drinks order was taken quickly. Our first course ( spiced carrot soup) came out and was piping hot. It was delicious and served with a piece of warm flat bread. Then came our muffin rarebit, again really tasty. Then on to our mains- steak and chips. Steak was a little over cooked but still tasty. We then requested a break before dessert. This was a chocolate brownie eton mess. Absolutely amazing! Again a short break before the cheese course, which was very good. We finished off with coffee and mince pies. At the end we all agreed that we would do this again as it was very good value and thoroughly delicious.

It was absolutely disgusting. They made me wait 2 hours for 3 pitiful pancakes and when I asked for more, they had the audacity to tell me it was shut. I expect a refund. This was last year but the experience was so terrible I have flashbacks of it to this day. Edit - 3 years later, I am waking up in cold sweats, constantly reliving this egregious moment of my life.

Went for lunch with group of friends. It was the Xmas menu - choice of two courses or three. Everyone enjoyed. Good service from our waitress.

Went for lunch as a family group of ten and were delighted to be seated at a circular table by the windows. The service, food and atmosphere were first class. We will definitely be going back, and I can certainly recommend Bistro Pierre.

Clean and comfortable. Lots of good options on the menu. Staff were lovely, very attentive to customers and very good with dealing with food allergies. Waiting times wasn't very long, food was also lovely. However, it is very expensive and the portions are small. I also don't approve of the 'discretionary service charge'. Although the service was great, I feel more comfortable deciding for myself when and how much I tip. It feels very rude and less personal when the tip is assumed and when it is suggested how much to tip. I've noticed in a few responses from the owner, that they keep repeating that the service charge is discretionary and it is stated as such, but I think the owner is lacking consideration that some people feel very awkward and embarrassed when they ask for the charge to be removed. I think the whole 'just ask the server to remove it' is a cop out because I personally believe that the owner is aware that a lot of people would be too awkward to ask for the charge to be removed. The service charge is the reason that I haven't returned. I eat out in mumbles quite regularly and I have gone to the neighbouring restaurants but I haven't returned here. At first, I thought that I'd go again but this time ask for the service charge to be removed. But I'm uncomfortable with that and if I'm going out for food, I'd rather select a place that has all the pro's that this place has, but where I won't be made to feel uncomfortable when paying. And that's what I have done since. If the practise of the discretionary service charge was removed, I would definitely return. Hi Scott, I saw your response. If your objective is to improve staff morale and make working in hospitality a more desirable career prospect, I recommend that you pay your staff more. I'm sure the owner is rolling in money so perhaps he/she can take a pay cut so that their staff can be paid a fairer wage.

Went for a quick lunch with my wife to celebrate my 50th birthday and had a really enjoyable time. Service was second to none and the staff were amazing. Even brought me a cake which was very kind and generous. Would definitely recommend this venue.

Tasty food and excellent service.

Ludicrously expensive and food portions are stingy, staff were very friendly though. Living in London, this place makes most places in the capital look like a bargain. I’d recommend routing out some of the foody places further towards the lighthouse for a nice lunch and less pretentious atmosphere.
