First time reviewing The Castle Hotel and what a beautiful town. I ordered a simple traditional breakfast which was great apart from the 'hash brown' which was cooked to 'death'! My 'cry' for help fell on deaf ears! For 51pence this team need to (in my professional opinion) need some extra training in how to deliver 'excellent' customer service. Today's experience was unexpected on behalf of the wonderful Tim Martins crew.

We have visited this lovely tearoom many times over the last decade and love the setting and food. The prices have gone up, perhaps inevitably, but the food was tasty and the cakes were extremely decadent. However we - and other tables - did not like the choice of pop music being played from an Alexa (!) in such a traditional setting. It was not in keeping with a 15th century cosy traditional tearoom. No music was needed at all. It was also disappointing to find that there is no longer an indoor toilet. There is one toilet outside with no shelter to wait under. I'm sure we'll return next time we're in the area though

9 of us went here for Sunday lunch, it was a very disappointing experience! There was no choice of meat left, the staff didn’t know if there was a veggie option. The food was cold when it finally arrived. We ordered sides which never arrived, despite asking 3 different members of staff and they were still added to the bill! The staff were rude, inattentive and chewing gum. Wouldn’t go back.

HIGHLY recommend this Bed and Breakfast if you are on this side of the island! The rooms were comfy and the staff are the nicest! Has a lovely time in the bar after a long drive and the breakfast in the morning was MASSIVE. 10/10 would stay again 👍

Heaving! Expected to be turned away but we were well looked after. Had 2 specials. Really good and served quickly. We shared some of each other’s food and agreed they were both lovely. Wild boar hotdog with chilli and chips and a moussaka with Mediterranean salad

After somewhere for Sunday lunch with our multigenerational family, The Llewelyn was suggested. We weren’t sure what to expect, especially as we arrived at the very start of service and the restaurant was very quiet. Clearly used by guests of the hotel for breakfast and buffets also - which is fine - it initially felt a little uncomfortable as quite empty but as other guests joined us, the atmosphere lightened. The menu is limited for lunch - we think they may have previously had a carvery buffet? - with just roast main courses and a few pudding choices, plus restricted kids menu, but portions were very generous. As some of our party were vegetarians, we weren’t sure what the ‘vegetable and seed roast’ would be, but it was delicious. Alongside the main roast - which came with roast potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and parsnips plus a huge Yorkshire pudding - was a separate dish of lovely cauliflower cheese plus extra gravy. Another member of the party wasn’t a vegetarian, and we were quite surprised when another dish of cauliflower cheese came along with another jug of extra (vegetarian) gravy! We couldn’t manage all the extra veg between the three of us, even though it was delicious. We were too full for desert, but left happy and full of praise for The Llewelyn, definitely a Criccieth Sunday lunch special!

We loved this place. Not only were all the staff really lovely but the other customers were a great laugh! We had an evening meal and breakfast and they were both PERFECT. Our room was lovely and I want to visit again. And then again. I think what I might have loved best was the soft sheep noise in the background.
