A most welcoming local pub with an excellent chef who happily adapted starters into a main for me - veggie! Although menu catered for everyone. Mine hosts were so cheerful & hardworking - many could take a leaf out of their books! The place was absolutely buzzing with people of all ages - locals & holidaymakers having the time of their lives singing along to the live musician of the evening who sang everything from Beatles/John Denver to modern day...talented chap! We will definitely be back - next time we may stay if not during the summer months, perhaps for an Autumn/Spring walking holiday!

Having eaten here last night we can highly recommend it . Food was tasty , fairly priced ( not cheap) and the size of the meals was so that we didn't have space for dessert . Car park is to the rear of the pub though not massive there is probably enough space for 10-12 cars . Staff were friendly. Booking in advance is probably recommended when it's the school holidays .

Well done peniarth, lovely meal and entertainment thrown in. Would recommend booking as does get busy, lovley covered seating area outside with tv for sports. Car parking can be an issue but we parked a little walk away.

Nothing at all wrong with our experience, or indeed the service and food. Both meals were very good indeed, the service was efficient and very pleasant. Being local we have used the Peniarth several times and to be honest cannot fault it, its good for general meals, and does tend to try and cater for every ones tastes.

As per other reviews absolutely aweful food. A place that can't even cook fish and chips but then using cooking fat that needs changing and needs to be hotter will always be dry and rock hard. If you want to keep you're teeth and want nice food in a nice pub with a nice atmosphere this isn't the place to go. The menu is very basic with an abundace of 'beige' food and fried food. I've never seen a white pizza because it wasn't cooked. The place wasnt busy serving food but that's probably because its so bad. Seems that the person in the kitchen can only do one thing at a time and does that badly. Bit worrying really give that the food is less than complex to produce. Service is beyond bad over an hours wait for food that was dreadful. Youre crammed in a room with too many tables and chairs so much so most of the chaisrs can't be used with any level of comfort ie rammed btn chair n table or sitting ontop of people at the next table, Personally I have zero desire to have no choice but hear others conversations. Reading other reviews it seems that they cant cope if you dont sit outside to eat even if its freezing . This place needs to get new kitchen staff who know what they're of blagging it and serving food that is disgraceful. If you want ping food then it's the place for you but if you prefer properly prepared and cooked food then AVOID HERE. Best to drive up the road Into Towyn town. There are way better pubs to eat at away from this village. Goodness knows why the owners/management tolerate this dreadful food and service but then given the location options are reduced. Shame on you all.

Booked a family meal for 7 for my twin sons 13th birthday with grandparents travelling from Birmingham to join them. We called well in advance in January as we knew it coincided with Easter Sunday, on the booking we included our dachshund as it is a dog friendly pub. Family and friends have eaten here many times before with a dog previously with no issues. Arrived on time for our meal, to find that we’d been moved outside for our roast dinner, which as it was only 5 degrees was not suitable at all. When speaking with staff, we were told management decided to move us as they were busy with Easter sittings and we had a dog so that we’d be best suited outside. My in laws have eaten many times inside with their dog and there were numerous tables eating their Easter lunch with dogs so we were confused by this. We told them that we could run the dog back home, but then we were told they had no way of accommodating us inside as they were now ‘too full’, we were the first booking they had for this lunch, we had booked in Jan and the person who took our booking laughed at our advancement . No apologies given at all, when we tried to speak to the manageress she said she has already spoken to a member of our party and their answer was set. Despite the fact that it was a birthday dinner, and we’d booked so far in advance. I asked why they hadn’t called to let us know re the supposed dog issue and we could have taken the dog off the booking, to be told that we should have called a week ago to check! My Father in Law ate in the pub just two weeks ago with his dog and confirmed our booking was still ok at this time! Their level of customer service is a joke. They completely ruined so many plans and not an ounce of apology. I told them that we now had nowhere to go and eat for our twin sons birthday celebration meal, to be told that there are plenty of places to eat in Tywyn - completely oblivious to the fact that it is Easter Sunday and everywhere is full! The most annoying thing was a complete lack of empathy or even a sorry that our boys day has been completely ruined. Stopping in a b&b, no food facilities. 3 kids….Now hours on and we’re still yet to find anywhere to eat as surprise surprise everywhere is full on Easter Sunday. Thanks Peniarth! The attitude towards us was the worst, not even an attempt to rectify. Just tough luck, we over booked, off you go. My in laws visit here minimal 6 times a year, then their friends and our extended family too. Due to the lack of care or even willingness to rectify we will ensure everyone we know is aware of this terrible customer service. I have never known anything like it.

Myself and my husband were on holiday in the area and it was recommended by our hosts. As it was my husbands birthday we thought we would go as a treat. Upon entry it was quite busy but the lady behind the bar was friendly and took us to a table. The decor was lovely although the tables were quite large and it was a little cramped getting around. I ordered sirloin steak with a Stilton sauce, it was a huge portion but it was absolutely gorgeous, the sauce was incredible, I ate the lot!! Hubby ordered hunters chicken which was equally huge and equally as gorgeous!! Excellent meal, good atmosphere and pleasant staff.

We decided this year to go out for Christmas dinner, and chose this location for the special day. When we got there, the environment was nice, cozy & jolly and all started off well. My starter was a lovely red pepper soup, which went down well, then a prosecco sorbet for the next course. All was fine until the main Christmas dinner came out. Not only did we have to wait around 30-40mins for it, but when it arrived the gravy tasted burnt, the vegetables weren't cooked very well and weren't seasoned. We brought up this complaint, and the staff went to get us some new ones. When I tried it again, it wasn't as bad, but the turkey dinners that some of the family had, tasted just as bad as the first try. The puddings were okay, but sadly not the best. There was a cheese course, but we left as we didn't like the idea of getting up in front of people to grab it, and would of preferred it brought to us. The thought of people touching the food etc and it standing out on the side was not great. All in all, the staff were nice, but the food wasn't good. It was a little upsetting that we didn't receive any sort of reduction on the price considering it did cost a lot for it to be very disappointing. Not good...

Booked ahead for Sunday lunch, and called in on the Friday for an evening meal. Got there Sunday to be advised there was no Sunday lunch available, only pub menu. Stayed the afternoon for entertainment and went to order evening meal to be told they weren’t serving at all in the evening though before hand it was! Not ideal when youve been drinking (so couldn’t drive to elsewhere)and staying on a campsite, so we ended up without food. On both occasions staff were uninterested and had poor customer service skills. Felt the pub was generally struggling to operate due to a busy day. Food we did have was nice.

We visited on the bank holiday weekend (coronation) for some food. My family had come down to visit and were staying in the rooms at the pub, which they said were lovely. When we got there, we didn't realise we had to ask for menus etc, as before I'd been served from the table for lunch with other family, so this was a little confusing. However, when we ordered and the food came out, it was lovely! I would only say that the halloumi cheese bites could be slightly cheaper, as they were extremely delicious but a tad overpriced. ( I can understand with rising prices ) Overall it was a great time with some lovely food. Left feeling very full, but very happy lol.

We ate in The Peniarth with friends on Tuesday evening. The menu looked great, lots of choice at 'very' reasonable prices. In the end we had 1 fish & chips which was huge with lovely crispy batter, 2 steak & ale pie, delicious and a good portion, the extra gravy wasn't needed but definitely appreciated. And finally my husband Welsh Beef curry, which came with rice, naan bread and a poppadom. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the nice atmosphere. Will most definitely return next time we are in the area. Just under £50 for 4 mains. Thank you so much! Julie, Steve,Jayne & Clive xx

Granted, we were grateful that they fit us in last minute. Even though at the bar there was a guy sat drinking (not sure if he was the owner) he was rather stern in telling us we should have booked, the lady serving behind the bar was also quite rude. The worst part is though, 4 of us were eating and 1 of us had finished, my hubby was not even half way through his mixed grill and the young server came and asked us had we finished, our 2 kids also only half way through, we told her not yet to which she replied “okay I will give you another 5 minutes” we were flabbergasted and have never ever come across this before whilst eating out. Yes they had a party of 14 coming in just after us but it was mostly dead. Food was also mediocre, the lamb burger was nice but hubby said his mixed grill was disappointing, cheap, small cuts of meat. We had to then rush our food and couldn’t wait to get out of there. You’d think they would want the custom and the extra money we’d have spent on drinks and desserts but it seems not. Would never go back should we stay up here again or recommend to anyone.

ook my partner to wales at the weekend for a break away. We booked 2 nights here and on arrival everything seemed OK. the room was nice to the eye at first. Upon arriving in our room we both wanted a cup of tea after the stressful 250 Mile drive that we had just encountered. The electrical cord to the kettle was not even long enough to reach the plug to which we had to put the kettle on the floor ( I know health and safety hazard!!) Then once the kettle had boiled and we came to make a cup of tea we found that all the pots of milk in our room were OFF infact it was like CHEESE!! When i approached a member of staff about this i was faced with no apology just " i will get some fresh ones for you" To which 1 and a half hours passed and still no MILK. As we were about to leave our room to go out for an evening meal the same member of staff was stood outside our room with a pot of powdered chocolate and said " i will leave that there for you" To which i asked "what about the fresh milk?" I was told they had ran out of pots of milk and i could ask at the bar for a jug of fresh milk...... ONE MINUTE... Is that not what i did over 1 hour ago ?? TO which i was then rudely told if i wanted a cup of tea then i should sit in the bar and have one. Upon returning from our evening meal we went to shower to find that the shower cubicle and bathroom in general had not been cleaned and was pretty disgusting. There was still old empty bottles of shampoo/ Body wash from previous guests in the shower cubicle. Upon checking out after our 2 nights at 10am as stated on there website we spent 25 Minutes trying to gain access to the bar. Both the front and back doors were locked and i had to ring the bar to get them to come and unlock he door to which we was faced with a Half dressed lady that looked like she had been dragged out of bed. She practically snatched they keys from my hand and walked off back into the bar ( no goodbye or how was your stay? NOTHING) Very disappointing and definitely will never return.

Food was excellent. Room very cold, 2 very badly stained pillows with no covers on! No hot water from shower and access to the room was via outside up some metal stairs which were very slippery when wet.

Shame the barman (elderly stout guy) has issues if he doesnt appreciate serving tourists rather than locals he should find another job thats suits his personality or put a sign outside saying locals only

Meal booked for 18 hungry Reading Roadrunners (who'd run Race the Train). The food and beer was excellent. We also had great service from David in the Peniarth Arms last night. Thank you for making us all so very welcome ☺️

This was my first visit since the premises have been under new ownership. The menu was not the most exciting to be honest, I decided to have the black beef madras curry. The dining area is pleasant enough and was busy (which is always a nice sign for a 'new business'). The waitress was extremely efficient and our dishes were served without much of a wait. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the size of the portion and was a bit mystified as to why there was a small side salad on the side of my plate?? The curry itself was eatable, but I felt it was over-priced and it might well have been a supermarket jarred one and the naan bread was certainly nothing special. For dessert I had a chocolate orange sponge with pouring cream, which was reasonably priced and tasted fine. Not sure if I'd visit again for a meal, but might well for a pint.

Not a lot in the area so we ended up here. It's a pub that tries to be a bit of everything and succeeds at nothing. The food is average - but reasonably priced for what it is - but the thing that lets it down is the local pub clientele who stood at the bar with the landlord, shouting and swearing throughout our meal. You can't have a family friendly food pub and allow that kind of behaviour I'm afraid.

We decided to treat ourselves to a meal out locally so visited the Peniarth Arms, while my hubby really enjoyed his meal I was a bit disappointed due to the bread on my club sandwich being so thin that it disintegrated when I tried to cut it in to two halves, certainly won't have that again!!

This isn't a gastropub experience, but there aren't many of those in this part of Wales. But it was perfectly fine for a pub meal or two. Part of the seating area is right next to the pool table, which wouldn't be ideal, but there are two other indoor areas, and a sizeable outdoors area. It was light and bright, with reasonably priced food (burger and chips £8).

We don't come here often coz of the distance, but have been here on two occasions lately, for a funeral wake and the buffet on display was fantastic both times, with a massive selection of fresh tasty food.Friendly staff always on hand. Refurbished to a good standard.I Would recommend this place for something to eat.beer garden at the back, ideal for children with plenty of parking. Well done to the owners for doing such a good job.

Visited the Peniarth Arms for an evening meal with friends. Walking into the pub from the carpark, as you walk in, the pool table is immediately infront of you. Pub atmosphere very welcoming. Nice decoration, plain and homely a few modern pieces. Easy chairs to seat yourself by tables. Some stools by the bar. There is a television for Sport. Also wifi and code clearly shown. We went into the small but ample dining area. Table for 6. We chose not to have starters but there are plenty on offer, some to share. We had a farmhouse mixed grill, large size. Beef stroganoff, beer battered fish and chips, hunters chicken (you can have a variety of toppings for the chicken), Guiness Pie (real pie - pastry all round meat). Ham, egg and chips. Excellent portions washed down with a variety of drinks. Then to dessert - do we have room. Maybe a little. Lots of choice: We had a range served with custard, cream and ice cream. All very satisfied customers. Our friends even booked for Sunday Lunch.

The best pub ever! The moment you walk in you feel like a valued customer and you are looked after tremendously well, the staff there are so friendly and inviting! The owner Kevin has done amazingly well and has made this pub the best in the area! I have eaten here many times in the last 12/24 months due to having a caravan nearby and everything I have ordered has been beautifully cooked and well presented on my plate! I cant comment on the puddings as I never have enough room for one as the main meal is massive! :-) beers are wonderful too and I often find myself popping in for the odd cheeky pint midweek :-) Keep up the good work the food, service and staff are amazing :-)

We were driving from our campsite looking for some good pub grub. It's was 5pm and after being turned away for the first pub we found because they didn't serve food until 6pm we carried on the coast road and found this pub. We walked and we liked the look of the pub but they guy behind the bar said they also didn't serve food until 6pm. we left but as we got half way up the carpark he shouted us back and said he would start early. The service was very good and polite. The food came in about 15mins and was very good we really enjoyed it. We had deep fried Brie. A Mexican burger and chips and a lasagne and garlic bread and everything was spot on. Will defo return of we are in the area again

Awful experience. We arrived around 2 pm, and we asked what the soup was. We were told it was Parsnip and immediately ordered. The member of staff went to the kitchen to ask something and then came out to say they are no longer serving food. We found this odd given that she had just confirmed the soup with the kitchen, and the cafe is open until 4 pm. Fair enough if we were trying to order at 3.45pm, but this was at 2pm. We ordered coffees and welsh cakes, which took 20 minutes to come (cafe was empty, save for ourselves). The rude member of staff then slammed them on the table, didn't even take the items off the tray, and walked off. Never have I had such an awful customer service experience. Complete letdown to what is a lovely area.

An out-of-town farm/campsite/farmshop. Reasons for 5* = service (friendly), quality (.take a look round the shop), price (very good value) . I thought this was a lovely place. As a family we’d all happily revisit. Good value for the quality of produce. In Leeds (where we come from) could charge a lot more. We’d happily happily revisit

Just passed by doing some walking and asked if we could leave our car at the parking. The kindness of the reception was overwhelming. Need to come back. In addition to that the walk that ended at the campsite was beautiful.
