The best restaurants serving British food in North Wales

Visited tonight for a friends birthday. A nice atmosphere but the food and service were far from great! We had to ask for a relacement portion of chips and sweet potato fries as they were cold. A few of the tapaz meals were luke warm although should have been hot. A small side salad was 3.75 but had manky spinach in the bowl that had started to decompose. The burger should have coleslaw and came without. When I went to the bar to highlight our experiences I had to ask for a refund for the inedible salad as you pay for your meals in advance. No compensation was offered for the poor service or cold food nor was there any consideration for the fact that my meal was interrupted 3 times to walk to the bar, 2 rooms away. We sat among dirty pots and glasses for most of the night as there was no attempt to clear them. Disappointingly poor service and very average luke warm food. Not impressed. Ladies toilets were a mess with paper towels everywhere. We will not be returning.

Hotel is a bit dated.Needs refurbishment.when you used the toilet and flushed it the drain would gurgle and the bathroom smelt continually of the drains

Really enjoyable meal, staff were friendly.

£7 for a pint no thank you shall not be going back refuse to pay such ridiculous stupid prices

We stopped off for drinks 🍸 while having a look around Llangollen and enjoyed our visit, good selection of beers 🍻. Small bar area but makes up for it with a large decking area overlooking the river, lovely on a nice day.

I don't normally give reviews... But I just had to. I have just returned home from 3 nights in The Royal Victoria Hotel. Everything is just perfect. Every member of staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The room was everything I needed it to be and very good value. The included in the price breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were of a very high standard. The cherry on a particularly nice cake has to be the location... Highly Recommended...

Food quality is always of a high standard my only criticism is the wait can sometimes be quite long.The staff are always friendly and helpful.

We visited for a drink outside, lush atmosphere and peaceful environment. The food looked amazing. We only stopped off for a drink. Will be visiting again soon for food

One of the best steak pies I've had in the UK, the gravy on chips was fantastic, and good amount of veggies. Standard pub prices and very friendly staff.

Great food and good, friendly service on the night, but wouldn’t bother if you’re booking for a large group. Table wasn’t ready for when the birthday boy arrived so the surprise was ruined. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and ended up bussing and moving the tables around myself. Seems to be very little organisation. Very hard to get hold of anybody via phone or email. Quite disappointing considering the reputation the other branches of the Fat Boar have.

Visited Gwydr hotel, had lunchtime meal, all members of the party very satisfied with the food and how accommodating and pleasant the staff were, been before this been reason for return visit, definitely be going again. Thanks to all the staff
