Really old hotel right on the river, we had a 4 poster room with views of the river and the tea rooms, which was so nice. The rooms are nice, although don't expect modern, it's all very old and quirky, very old antique furniture etc. Bathrooms are nice though, although the hot water takes a while to come through. Staff are really helpful & friendly. Great breakfast, but not many choices for alternative diet options.

The building could use some tlc, common area carpets need a deep clean. Room was large but also needed a bit of tlc. Staff were helfful and frendly. Bar food was OK, good choice of beer. Breakfast was disappointing no orange juice, no fresh fruit but a good cooked breakfast.

Called in for lunch today , walked up to the bar - the bar person was on his phone texting or something and didn't see me . Me and my colleague was working up here, the food was nice, but the man behind the bar wasn't very clean and not very professional...I got a pint which had lip stick all around it, I went to the bar and asked for another glass to pour it in and it was even worse...I left my drink.then I went up to my room, I thought It was quirky and different room, until I moved the pillows and there was thick dog hair all over the pillows and when I picked my over night bag up off of the floor there was dog hair all over that, it would be a great place if good hygiene was maintained...hopefully sort it out.

Popped in for an evening meal the food was brilliant. There is an Indian Theme to the menu. I had the Indian mixed grill and my wife had the lamb Rogan josh. Both were really good and good value for money. There's also a great beer garden over looking the river. Worth popping in if you're in the area.

Guinness cheapest I’ve experienced and a very nice pint! Food was amazing massive portions my wife had belly pork and I had the Indian mix grill very different but worth the challenge. The lamb was soft and moist from a curry dish as was the tandoori chicken. We are outside you can sit beside the river with great views. Friendly staff well worth a visit!!!

The hotel is ideally located in the centre of Llanrwst and has onsite parking. The hotel owners have retained .such of the hotel character so the dining area and bar are comfortable to sit and enjoy your meal. There is also an outdoor area in the sunshine and to enjoy the views. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only down side was the lunchtime sandwiches. At £7.50 you receive medium sliced bread on sale cheap in the supermarket. The beef was sliced processed and the home cured ham was also packet processed. Chips at £4.50 a bowl were expensive as it was acsmall cereal bowl and frozen chips used. Such a shame but perhaps the main courses may be better value for money

Stayed overnight at this hotel as was passing through with a group of bikers friends... Had it prebooked. Must say i was happy with the stay as rooms were very large ,and beds comfortable, bathroom was very large, Check in was very good and the girl on reception was very helpful and friendly. Think her name was Preety. She also served us in the bar that evening with another girl for our dinner which tasted brilliant and portions were generous. Its was a lovely town for a walk after dinner on a summer evening. Had breakfast morning after its was all you need to start day.cereals ,and juices, and tea and toast, they also do a hot option. Its tables service for that. Would recommend this hotel.

The rooms were good value, however we had three rooms and one had stains on bedding not what you expect in any hotel. I think they were short on staff as the same person was the person who server us in evening and morning. The breakfast was average, had to pay extra for orange juice as they only had apple juice the cooked breakfast was very good apart from garlic mushrooms I like garlic but not that much at breakfast

I loved the building it's got a lot of history...the view from the window was really interesting opposite an old almshouse I think .lots of character to the building ...I loved the downstairs areas .the bedroom was just ok ..basic ,the bathroom was lovely and the bed comfy . I always strip the bed before I leave ...the disappointing thing was the duvet wasn't very clean ...full of horrible stains and really could do with putting in the bin .. definitely needed a new duvet . The stains were all over not just in one place .. if I had seen before I wouldn't have slept with it and asked for new one . Apart from that everything was good ...nice breakfast ..good service . We had a wander around the area and it was very interesting ..a beautiful place steeped in history ...loved it

We had a generously big room for two people with two toilets and four beds. Shower was a bit moldy and dirty and the matresses have seen a few years, but apart from that the room was nice and tidy. Sadly, the heating was going far too hot until 8 p.m.. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast okay. Portions at the restaurant we found to be quite enormous but fairly priced. At night it was quiet and the surrounding was picturesque. Perfect for a walk.

Six of us came for a Sunday roast, one was vegetarian. Whoops. There wasn’t a vegetarian option for the Sunday roast however the restaurant were accommodating in giving her vegetarian sausages instead. No gravy as that was made with the stock of the meat. I had gammon a turkey roast, which was really nice. Nice big roast potatoes and a separate bowl of veg. Halfway through the meal, we realised that the stuffing was missing on all five of our not vegetarian meals. We informed the staff and they brought out some stuffing for us, and some extra gravy. No problem, I love gravy and lots of it. Cheers.Food was nice, staff were as helpful as possible despite a vegetarian option not being in the menu. Would was on the higher end of responsibly priced.

We assumed that all the tables were spaced out due to COVID-19 Government guidance wishing added to the unison atmosphere.Staff were helpful and polite and we received very quick service. Our meals were brought out super quickly which is always a concern as to whether the food was cooked fresh. However, the food was adequate for two hungry walkers/campers.The Eagles isn’t a destination for a special occasion but it suited our needs in that we were hungry.Overall, we would just about recommend the restaurant.

Beware of the reviews - they are about the restaurant - not the rooms. The hotel is amazing to look at from the outside, but inside it is tired and old. The corridors are fusty and dark and have a dated feel. It feels more like an old pub than a hotel. The rooms are clean and fresh, but the shower cubicle wouldn’t close so the bathroom flooded. The shower was slow and the water was cold to tepid. The bed was hard and unThe main problem for this hotel is that it cares more about filling the restaurant than its guests. The queue for the restaurant snaked out of the front door so that as a guest I had the choice of waiting at the back of the line to get back to my room, or push through the line and break the social distancing rules and then walk through a packed lobby. Getting to the stairs to my room also meant pushing past the queueing diners.Breakfast was a bag of very poor quality cold food delivered to your room. The explanation was that the dining room was open to the public so it could not be used for breakfast. This made no sense as guests could book to eat in the the dining room in the evening and we were not kept apart from the diners anyway! Seems like an excuse to not bother with a cooked breakfast. When I mentioned the poor quality of the breakfast, I was told that this was a “continental breakfast”. Er, no it’s not! It’s a bag of low quality slop served on paper plates! The excuse - we have to make sure the restaurant is open for outside diners.

We all had really high expectations of this place. 5 star hygiene rating, great Trip Advisor reviews and the website looked great. From the moment we arrived it was sheer disappointment.Understanding things aren’t as they usually are with the COVID restrictions, this establishment is an example of how not to do things. Red and white hazard tape everywhere, totally no atmosphere and the most worry part, none of the staff following their own guidelines, barging past us whilst we queued to order and pay, not once but 5 times!!!When we arrived at our table it was filthy! After mentioning it to a member of staff it was reluctantly cleaned. Luckily before taking a slip I noticed my glass had a lipstick mark from a previous customer. The staff looked most out out when I mentioned it. Talking to each other in welsh before getting me another drink. We should have left at this point but decided to stay as we weren’t sure where else to go. The menu was extremely basic. Nothing like that shown on the website. When the food arrived it was very mediocre. The toilets were horrendous. They looked like a crime scene, red and white tape everywhere and yet again filthy. Would strongly recommend you dine elsewhere.

I cannot understand the recent 5 star reviews of this restaurant. Having looked at the website and seeing the al a carte dishes showing beautifully presented food in a low lit, romantic setting we were expecting something special. Given the prices were about £12 per main course it was set to be the most expensive meal we ate all week. The menu on their website looked fantastic, including vegetarian options for one of our group. We came from a day at the beach and were worried that we would be under dressed in shorts. When we got there we began to worry. The entrance was marked with tape and hazard ribbon, the carpet was not clean, there was dirt on the window cill and there was a plastic sheet/screen taped up over the bar. We had our temperatures taken and then had to queue at the bar to order and pay immediately for our drinks. Then we were shown into what I can only describe as a canteen, with plastic topped tables, dirty chairs and no atmosphere. We had paper menus to choose from and were shocked to see a severely restricted menu offering what was basically overpriced pub fare. Seeing as it was Eat Out to Help Out and thus half price, we thought 'what the hell' and ordered. We had to go back to the bar to place our orders. There was only one veggie option on the menu and we had to ask whether it contained nuts. The lady at the till grumpily went into the kitchen to find out and came out and said that the risotto didn't have any nuts. There was no risotto on the menu! We asked if the veggie option on the menu had nuts in. She grumpily returned to the kitchen to ask and came back and said they would make us cannelloni (also not on the menu, but we gave up at that point). Again, we had to pay immediately. Suspiciously, it arrived about 3 minutes after we ordered, just about the right amount of time for a microwave to ping! The food was basically befitting of the 2 for £5 meal deal at a Hungry Horse pub chain. Baked, tasteless, dry chips, supermarket scampi, cheap burger patties, hard peas, four different meals came with identical salad and coleslaw sides. It really was mass produced, quick turn around, cheap, poor quality food with absolutely no finesse. We were so close to walking out before the food, but we weren't sure where else to eat! Avoid!!

Okay , had about 15 family members staying here overnight , a really lovely place by the river and a quaint town. The food and service were good and we all enjoyed ourselves but just one local introduced a little anti English insults in to their conversation little realising although yes the majority of us were English some were welsh and welsh speaking , I’m English but lived local since 1982 and I have welsh speaking children and daughters in-laws who had to listen to his rants in welsh, apparently he is well known for it and by all accounts we were told on the night this is not the first time he’s done it so why he’s allowed in to continue needs to be looked at really. So just this one guy, the rest were apologetic and friendly. As said a very nice place in a very nice town but just be aware that even when you’re spending hundreds of pounds in their local businesses and their towns economy there is one person here with the potential and it seems the licence to spoil your day.

Stopped in at the Eagles for lunch, lunch is ordered through the bar staff who were very helpful. There was a function on in the main restaurant. so I thought there may be a delay in service but my lunch came very quickly. I ordered a cheese and ham omlette (it filled half a dinner plate), one of the best I have had in years.

This is a great pub in a lovely place. We visit here many times a year. This weekend we stayed in the village and after a very long day came here to eat. We arrived at 4.45 and we're told we couldn't order food till 6 pm. The outside area was fairly busy but we found a table. The bar staff gave us a menu so we could be ready for 6. We were really hungry. We had two rounds of drinks and around 5.15 food started to appear to other tables. I asked a young waitress if we could orderr. She politely said it's just residents of the hotel who could eat all day long.ok, we got another round of drinks and at 6pm headed to the bar. we joined the queue of around 9 other folk. At last it was our turn. "Yeah" the rude scowling bar person said. "We would like to order some food please " "Have you booked ?" ""No, we were...." This was rudely stopped mid sentence to be told. " we are not serving you, if your not a resident and you haven't book, it's a no " This woman needs a lesson in customer relations and she needs to state clearly to customers when they arrive if they are not going to be served. We spent a lot of money on drinks, waited patiently and then the five of us left. By this time we were very very hungry. Luckily the excellent Indian restaurant accommodated us and several more customers who had recieved the same appalling service. We will not be recommending this place again and we certainly won't be going again. The have lost a lot of custom.new visit a lot sometimes upto 20 of us. We will now use the Indian in the village and everywhere else apart from The Eagles.

Our group of 8, four adults and four children enjoyed a really wonderful time during our visit to this lovely pub/restaurant. Met the owners the Mayor and the ex-Mayor so we were in good company!! Really delicious food, imaginatively prepared and politely served. We will definitely return.

Having booked a table for 7.00 we are told that there would be quarter of a hour wait before they could take our order, why I don't. Order placed to be told some five minutes later that they did not have either fish and chips or the salmon because they had been busy at the weekend and did not have supplies. Left very disappointed.

Booked Sunday lunch here as dogs are allowed in the bar area. Carvery lunch which is served in the main dining room but only a short walk into the bar. Really nice lunch with good selection - even the teens enjoyed. Worth a visit.

Had our evening meal here and it was absolutely fantastic, the best we have had in a long time, plenty of it, perfectly cooked and tasted superb, so we went back for our meal on the second night and it was the same, faultless.

I am currently at this hotel and had previously reviewed it in relation to room 14. Since that stay I have been in two other rooms in the hotel which do not compare in any way to room 14 and are significantly better in every concept. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the food is very good and varied and the full Welsh breakfast a plate full. If you are in the area I recommend staying here with its location next to the fast flowing river a plus......

This is usually our favourite place to come for sunday lunch but came two weeks ago excited for a lovely sunday carvery. Was disappointed when told that they were no longer serving carvery and that it had been replaced by table service. The sunday lunch we ordered was ok, nothing special with a small choice of veg. I was disappointed also by the fact they had increased the price compared to the carvery although you were getting a significant less amount of food. The table service was very slow and even a waiter made a joke about the puddings not arriving till next week.

Great pub,, good beer 🍺 and friendly staff. We arrived late and missed food, however staff allowed us to sit outside on tables, enjoy the weather and use the neighbouring takeaway,, whilst the 20 of us had several of the bars delights 🍺🍺🍺😁 Great pub, we'll be back 10/10 🌟 🤩

Delicious food and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We arrived for lunch in a fluster with a hungry baby and an elderly dog on a very wet Tuesday. From the moment we walked in the lobby the staff were lovely, finding us a table in a suitable area and giving us the time and space to get sorted. There was no hurry to order and they bought us coffee and water to heat the baby’s food before we ordered. Once calm was restored and we ordered the service continued to impress and the food was delicious and fairly priced. Credit to all at the hotel.

2 of the main courses were unavailable. The vegetables for the lamb course were unavailable. Alternative vegetables were given which were undercooked and cold. Potato was tasteless and cold . Did mention it to waiter whose response was sorry. £24 for a piece of lamb is unacceptable as I didn't eat the vegetables or potatoes.
