We ate here in the evening yesterday and had the butter chicken which was great. My partner had the scampi and chips which was thoroughly enjoyed. The menu has an Indian influence although other selections are available. There is a good size car park here on site, although don’t forget to check your car in on entry, you simply have to enter your registration number into an iPad in reception.

I loved the building it's got a lot of history...the view from the window was really interesting opposite an old almshouse I think .lots of character to the building ...I loved the downstairs areas .the bedroom was just ok ..basic ,the bathroom was lovely and the bed comfy . I always strip the bed before I leave ...the disappointing thing was the duvet wasn't very clean ...full of horrible stains and really could do with putting in the bin .. definitely needed a new duvet . The stains were all over not just in one place .. if I had seen before I wouldn't have slept with it and asked for new one . Apart from that everything was good ...nice breakfast ..good service . We had a wander around the area and it was very interesting ..a beautiful place steeped in history ...loved it

We had a generously big room for two people with two toilets and four beds. Shower was a bit moldy and dirty and the matresses have seen a few years, but apart from that the room was nice and tidy. Sadly, the heating was going far too hot until 8 p.m.. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast okay. Portions at the restaurant we found to be quite enormous but fairly priced. At night it was quiet and the surrounding was picturesque. Perfect for a walk.

Six of us came for a Sunday roast, one was vegetarian. Whoops. There wasn’t a vegetarian option for the Sunday roast however the restaurant were accommodating in giving her vegetarian sausages instead. No gravy as that was made with the stock of the meat. I had gammon a turkey roast, which was really nice. Nice big roast potatoes and a separate bowl of veg. Halfway through the meal, we realised that the stuffing was missing on all five of our not vegetarian meals. We informed the staff and they brought out some stuffing for us, and some extra gravy. No problem, I love gravy and lots of it. Cheers.Food was nice, staff were as helpful as possible despite a vegetarian option not being in the menu. Would was on the higher end of responsibly priced.

Beware of the reviews - they are about the restaurant - not the rooms. The hotel is amazing to look at from the outside, but inside it is tired and old. The corridors are fusty and dark and have a dated feel. It feels more like an old pub than a hotel. The rooms are clean and fresh, but the shower cubicle wouldn’t close so the bathroom flooded. The shower was slow and the water was cold to tepid. The bed was hard and unThe main problem for this hotel is that it cares more about filling the restaurant than its guests. The queue for the restaurant snaked out of the front door so that as a guest I had the choice of waiting at the back of the line to get back to my room, or push through the line and break the social distancing rules and then walk through a packed lobby. Getting to the stairs to my room also meant pushing past the queueing diners.Breakfast was a bag of very poor quality cold food delivered to your room. The explanation was that the dining room was open to the public so it could not be used for breakfast. This made no sense as guests could book to eat in the the dining room in the evening and we were not kept apart from the diners anyway! Seems like an excuse to not bother with a cooked breakfast. When I mentioned the poor quality of the breakfast, I was told that this was a “continental breakfast”. Er, no it’s not! It’s a bag of low quality slop served on paper plates! The excuse - we have to make sure the restaurant is open for outside diners.

I cannot understand the recent 5 star reviews of this restaurant. Having looked at the website and seeing the al a carte dishes showing beautifully presented food in a low lit, romantic setting we were expecting something special. Given the prices were about £12 per main course it was set to be the most expensive meal we ate all week. The menu on their website looked fantastic, including vegetarian options for one of our group. We came from a day at the beach and were worried that we would be under dressed in shorts. When we got there we began to worry. The entrance was marked with tape and hazard ribbon, the carpet was not clean, there was dirt on the window cill and there was a plastic sheet/screen taped up over the bar. We had our temperatures taken and then had to queue at the bar to order and pay immediately for our drinks. Then we were shown into what I can only describe as a canteen, with plastic topped tables, dirty chairs and no atmosphere. We had paper menus to choose from and were shocked to see a severely restricted menu offering what was basically overpriced pub fare. Seeing as it was Eat Out to Help Out and thus half price, we thought 'what the hell' and ordered. We had to go back to the bar to place our orders. There was only one veggie option on the menu and we had to ask whether it contained nuts. The lady at the till grumpily went into the kitchen to find out and came out and said that the risotto didn't have any nuts. There was no risotto on the menu! We asked if the veggie option on the menu had nuts in. She grumpily returned to the kitchen to ask and came back and said they would make us cannelloni (also not on the menu, but we gave up at that point). Again, we had to pay immediately. Suspiciously, it arrived about 3 minutes after we ordered, just about the right amount of time for a microwave to ping! The food was basically befitting of the 2 for £5 meal deal at a Hungry Horse pub chain. Baked, tasteless, dry chips, supermarket scampi, cheap burger patties, hard peas, four different meals came with identical salad and coleslaw sides. It really was mass produced, quick turn around, cheap, poor quality food with absolutely no finesse. We were so close to walking out before the food, but we weren't sure where else to eat! Avoid!!

We all had really high expectations of this place. 5 star hygiene rating, great Trip Advisor reviews and the website looked great. From the moment we arrived it was sheer disappointment.Understanding things aren’t as they usually are with the COVID restrictions, this establishment is an example of how not to do things. Red and white hazard tape everywhere, totally no atmosphere and the most worry part, none of the staff following their own guidelines, barging past us whilst we queued to order and pay, not once but 5 times!!!When we arrived at our table it was filthy! After mentioning it to a member of staff it was reluctantly cleaned. Luckily before taking a slip I noticed my glass had a lipstick mark from a previous customer. The staff looked most out out when I mentioned it. Talking to each other in welsh before getting me another drink. We should have left at this point but decided to stay as we weren’t sure where else to go. The menu was extremely basic. Nothing like that shown on the website. When the food arrived it was very mediocre. The toilets were horrendous. They looked like a crime scene, red and white tape everywhere and yet again filthy. Would strongly recommend you dine elsewhere.

Okay , had about 15 family members staying here overnight , a really lovely place by the river and a quaint town. The food and service were good and we all enjoyed ourselves but just one local introduced a little anti English insults in to their conversation little realising although yes the majority of us were English some were welsh and welsh speaking , I’m English but lived local since 1982 and I have welsh speaking children and daughters in-laws who had to listen to his rants in welsh, apparently he is well known for it and by all accounts we were told on the night this is not the first time he’s done it so why he’s allowed in to continue needs to be looked at really. So just this one guy, the rest were apologetic and friendly. As said a very nice place in a very nice town but just be aware that even when you’re spending hundreds of pounds in their local businesses and their towns economy there is one person here with the potential and it seems the licence to spoil your day.

Decided to try The Eagles as we haven’t been here for a long time and previously have been disappointed with other local eating places as poor value for money. Ate in the bar And we ordered various sandwiches and chunky chips. Have to say very well presented and tasty bread with loads of filling, the side salad and coleslaw covered half the plate and was lovely - all to often all you get is the sandwich and if your lucky a tiny bit of garnish. The cost...£5 can’t argue with that. We will definitely come back!

A fan is provided in the room but even with the window open (back to the noise) it's too hot. However it is a lovely/quirky room and nice ensuite but I did find there are no plugs by a mirror to straighten or blow dry my hair.....finally the food is superb! Very well done pub grub so I would advise booking a table in advance of your stay. All together I like this place, its welcoming, great food beautiful scenery.

This is a great pub in a lovely place. We visit here many times a year. This weekend we stayed in the village and after a very long day came here to eat. We arrived at 4.45 and we're told we couldn't order food till 6 pm. The outside area was fairly busy but we found a table. The bar staff gave us a menu so we could be ready for 6. We were really hungry. We had two rounds of drinks and around 5.15 food started to appear to other tables. I asked a young waitress if we could orderr. She politely said it's just residents of the hotel who could eat all day long.ok, we got another round of drinks and at 6pm headed to the bar. we joined the queue of around 9 other folk. At last it was our turn. "Yeah" the rude scowling bar person said. "We would like to order some food please " "Have you booked ?" ""No, we were...." This was rudely stopped mid sentence to be told. " we are not serving you, if your not a resident and you haven't book, it's a no " This woman needs a lesson in customer relations and she needs to state clearly to customers when they arrive if they are not going to be served. We spent a lot of money on drinks, waited patiently and then the five of us left. By this time we were very very hungry. Luckily the excellent Indian restaurant accommodated us and several more customers who had recieved the same appalling service. We will not be recommending this place again and we certainly won't be going again. The have lost a lot of custom.new visit a lot sometimes upto 20 of us. We will now use the Indian in the village and everywhere else apart from The Eagles.

I am currently at this hotel and had previously reviewed it in relation to room 14. Since that stay I have been in two other rooms in the hotel which do not compare in any way to room 14 and are significantly better in every concept. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the food is very good and varied and the full Welsh breakfast a plate full. If you are in the area I recommend staying here with its location next to the fast flowing river a plus......

This is usually our favourite place to come for sunday lunch but came two weeks ago excited for a lovely sunday carvery. Was disappointed when told that they were no longer serving carvery and that it had been replaced by table service. The sunday lunch we ordered was ok, nothing special with a small choice of veg. I was disappointed also by the fact they had increased the price compared to the carvery although you were getting a significant less amount of food. The table service was very slow and even a waiter made a joke about the puddings not arriving till next week.

The staff are really friendly and helpful and there are several different areas you can sit so you can choose if you want it quiet and romantic or in the hubbub. Been several times and will definitely go again.

Grand hotel in the town centre which can get...rowdy. Some rooms face the square with a noisy club. Bit disconcerting to find earplugs as standard on bedside tables! Helpful staff, nice bar with great local ale. Newly refurbed rooms, spacious and to good standard. Constant hotel "buzz/thrum" of heating system..but I managed to sleep through it! Good enough.

Overlooking the river and the car park but pleasant to sit outside for 'pub grub'. I enjoyed a curry and my husband had the special piri piri half chicken - good. Affable staff, clean and moderately priced.

We stayed in Betws-y-Coed but were looking for somewhere different for an evening meal and dropped in at The Eagles Hotel on the off chance. The food was so good we went back the following evening. The first evening we both chose the lasagne which was very tasty - and not the sloppy version which slides around your plate! It came with a nice fresh salad and good, tasty garlic bread. The second evening, we both chose the Welsh lamb which was cooked perfectly and was super tender, served with potatoes and vegetables, again all cooked perfectly. The friendly and helpful staff were an added bonus.

The staff are extremely friendly, always helpful, and offer advice if you need it. We go walking and many of the staff explain the different routes and go out of their way to have a friendly chat. Karen on reception and all the bar staff and waiting staff are so attentive and even remember our names . The rooms are great especially if you have a dog. We have booked to stay again in April.

Amazing carvery. Top quality food and excellent value for money. Very highly recommended by all my family. We have all been before so knew we were in for a treat. But the roast beef today was just out of this world...perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth...and plenty of it!Loads of lovely veggies, roasties etc and gorgeous yorkshire puds (definitely not aunt bessies either - much nicer!).After a starter and main course there was no way even i could manage a pud ( and i am greedy!) but a few in our party did...and they so enjoyed delicious homemade crumble. All in all a delicious meal, great service, and excellent value.Best book a table beforehand as it gets busy...the locals all know where to go for fantastic food and great value.

Because of the bad floods early this year & the fact I have been ill since April - tonight was the first chance we had to use our Christmas Gift from friends. I rang this morning to see if I could still use the Voucher & to see if I needed to book a table. It was advisable to book and so I did for 6.00.pm. We got there for ten to six and nobody seemed to know where we were sitting...No table booked for us !!!. we asked if we could sit in the Dining Room - no they had a function on ...we were then led to the BACK BAR where there were a crowd of lads enjoying the Rugby... Felt very out of place and to be fair to the lads they didn't want us in their Bar.. if they wanted to shout and Swear.. did they !! Staff must have seen our faces and we were then taken back to the Main Bar. Where we had our meal - nothing to write home about as my husband said ' I could have had better than this at home' Had so looked forward to this meal for months but totally disappointed in all aspects. Years since I have been to The Eagles and I hope I never have to go again........

We were staying in Llanrwst for the w/e and went to the Eagles having walked up Snowden. Very helpful receptionist, friendly bar staff and waiters. Food was fairly standard pub grub but above average in quality. Big portions so can recommend burger but have nothing to report on puds. Kids ate all their food so it must have been good. Wine OK. Draft beer good. Excellent value.Would go again if we come back.

We have never visited this hotel before and were pleased with the helpful and polite staff. It is a quirky place but the chicken curry and apple and blackberry crumble we ordered were excellent. The food was served quickly on hot plates (something I am very fussy about), was well presented and very tasty.

We have visited North Wales many times and can't count the number of times we've been past The Eagles Hotel. We were looking for a Sunday Carvery, and our B&B owner suggested this restaurant so we went there for the first time (after having stayed in North Wales eight previous times). We got there early as we were told that it filled up quickly, and most people make reservations. We recommend getting there early if you don't have reservations. They offer a wide variety of delicious food at a very reasonable price. In addition, they had a harpist with about the most soothing music one could ask for while dining. Great experience! We now have another favorite restaurant to add to our list in North Wales.

This hotel is great to look at and very inviting from the outside. Get inside and there was no one at reception, so that's not such a big deal. No one at the bar either but staff milling around doing not a great deal just talking to regulars and ignoring us. We tried several times to get the staff's attention and waited about 15minutes, then gave up. Disappointed as we really were hungry and given some attention would have spent money there if given the chance. Would not recommend unless you are a local.

Very popular restaurant in this friendly family run hotel. We had the carvery and with the very large selection of meats and vegetables, cooked to perfection it made a very good enjoyable meal for us. Desserts menu had plenty of choice and good sized portions. Looking out of the window the view was really lovely alongside the river with verdant hills behind it. Would definitely go again when next in the area.

Service was good starters were excellent but main courses were poor for three out of four we had tower burgers which were burnt and tough because they had been over cooked. No one came and asked if our meals were ok so we guessed they already knew that's why no one came to our table. One person out of four had fish and chips good choice.

We only stopped by the Eagles on a Sunday night because our guest house wasn't serving that evening. If we didn't laugh about it we would have cried. The "restaurant" area had zero ambience/atmosphere, despite the bones being there to make it potentially have loads of character. The chairs were old metal working men's club chairs covered in nylon stretchy material to make them look similar. The staff were awful but I don't blame them at all. They were very nice and pleasant, but it seemed not trained at all. We went thirty minutes at a time without them coming to the table unless we walked into the bar to find them, and it was a very slow night until a poor larger party came in much later than us. A poor table full of Americans saw the waiter once to deliver the food and then they had to ask for the bill 45 minutes later. The food was below average, though there was loads of it. And the price was the same as several other nice restaurants in north wales we ate at, with top quality food, and plenty of it. The hilarious ness unfortunately included spilling of drinks on kids accidentally and four or five young wait staff floating around almost trying to not catch the eye of any of the tables. It was certainly an event we will talk about for years. As far as the potential goes, the Eagles Hotel is an excellent building in the center of town with loads of history and a great layout. It's a shame we either caught them on an awful and slow night, or that someone just hasn't figured out how to make an excellent locale a large success quite yet. Fawlty Towers anyone?

Great visit to the Eagles. Welcoming, friendly and clean. A little noise experienced late evening as the hotel is in the heart of the village and sash windows don't keep out the sound but does add lots of rustic charm and character. Bar meals very tasty and great portion sizes. Would definitely return to this hotel if I travel this way again.

Having been to the Eagles many times this year for a drink and on 2 occassions for food we are finding it harder to stay too long because of children being left to their own devices while their parents continue to ignore them.I have absolutely no problem with children eating in the bar/lounge area but when their food is consumed they should leave.Last night we arrived at 6.45pm and had to go outside with our drinks because of screaming children in the lounge bar area, we literally could not hear each other while trying to chat. At about 8pm the family and children left so we went back inside. I personally do not like complaining but lately it is getting out of hand.
