Great spot hidden away in a lovely village. Outside is we’ll presented and inside is exactly what you’d expect…classic oak beams and a wood burner in an inglenook. Hadn’t been for quite a few years and it’s just the same inside . It wasn’t very welcoming to see the bar lady in her outdoor anorak behind the counter !! It was however just warm enough by the fire! It was nice and busy with a convivial atmosphere. However we were disappointed to learn 2 dishes were off leaving a very basic non veg selection. We had fish & chips & lamb burger . Both fine but nothing special… tasteless chips . The sticky toffee pudding was nice though.

Best Sunday lunch around. Community run pub with the best Sunday lunch in the area. We had to wait for the lamb to finish cooking - a good sign as to freshness. Good choice of vegetables- all nicely cooked (and not over cooked). Log fire. Perfect.

It was ok, the meat was good but the rest was a bit bland, the roast potatoes were poor but the half a parsnip was nice, there wasnt really much of it for £12.95. I enjoyed the chocolate brownie but again at £4.95 seemed a bit steep for the amount I recieved. My partner had crumble that he was disappointed with. The service was friendly but it was a bit slow possibly down to inexperience? We all wanted more gravy and couldn't find anyone to request it from. All three of us took turns to to the bar to ask but the chap was busy. I would be prepared to give it another go but not on a Sunday.

This was the first time I had eaten at The Raven since the new chef started a couple of months back. We visited on 'Fish and Chip Friday' although other meals are available. The three of us had Jack Fruit Stir Fry (Vegetarian), Chicken Pie and I had the small portion of Fish and Chips. We were all very pleased with our food and I found the small fish and chips just right if you have a medium to small appetite. The fish had a lovely light beer batter, best I have tasted in a long time. The pub was very busy for most of the evening, you do need to book a table, specially at this time of year. The kitchen closes at 8pm, so orders need to be placed before this time. Best advice is get here early at the weekends to avoid a wait for food. I was not overly impressed by the beer, compared to some other pubs in the locality. Staff and customers are friendly and of course it is dog friendly.

We tried The Raven after a high recommendation on the Friday night fish and chips. To be far the fish was nice, but we did book a couple of days before and when we arrived the bar was a pain to get too and they just said they didn't have a booking. So they just said find a table but they were reserved. Which left us looking awkward. They did find us a table, we sat down. We waited around 10 minutes for someone to give us menus or drinks order, this didn't happen so we got our own menus and it said order at the bar, some instructions would be nice. Just didn't feel very welcome. The service was fast. Oh also took them around 10 minutes and 3 of them to spilt our bill into two. Probably won't return.

The Raven Inn has been run by members of the local community now for a number of years. During that time it has grown and developed so that they now even offer the facilities of several well appointed letting rooms upstairs. The place is always immaculately clean, brasses shiny, etc., lovely and warm with a big cosy log burner. Food is imaginative and freshly cooked to order, available several days / evening per week ( check the website. ) There are many activities organised by the committee and the pub must be a rarity in that it is a rural pub which seems to have a great many customers every night of the week. I can confidently recommend the food. A little off the beaten track but definitely well worth the effort of finding it.

Off the beaten track but the countryside and mountain views make it a lovely track to be taking to reach The Raven in the village of Llanarmon yn ial. This is a community run pub with volunteers from the village pulling together to make it a very special place indeed. On a squally StDavids Day we found a cheering log fire and warm welcome from the lady behind the bar. The pub was decorated with daffodils and Welsh Dragon flags for the National Day with a melodious Welsh choir as background music, just magic. Sunday lunch was superb with three roasts, one fish and one vegetarian dish on the menu. We chose theWelsh lamb and it was beautifully cooked and the helping was very generous and served with boiled and roast potatoes ,parsnips and a Yorkshire pudding. Serving dishes arrived with ample supplies of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage and, of course, leeks in a creamy white sauce, all freshly cooked and scrumptious. We hardly had room for puddings but the dessert menu was so tempting we just had to fund space and can recommend the fresh berry pavlova . Without exception the staff were friendly and helpful and the table service was efficient in a smiley way This was our third visit to The Raven, if we lived closer it would be more, and every time we have enjoyed an excellent meal,in pleasant surroundings, with friendly staff.

I reviewed the Raven a couple of months ago after having a real first class experience there on a Friday night. The Inn, which is run mostly by local volunteers, is very quaint and everything you'd expect of a village pub. And Friday night is Fish and chip night and they really seem to have got it just right with the service, mostly more mature ladies and a couple of young girls, fresh decent size pieces of fish, exceedingly light batter and very good chips, all for under £8, unlike other places in the area that charge £12+ for something not as good. I went again on another Friday, and, despite a children's party being in full swing, the service and quality were excellent. But a couple of Sundays ago, we decided to go for Sunday lunch. The fact the pub was virtually empty at 1-30 should have given us a clue. It really was not good. The roast pork admittedly had very good crisp crackling and a lovely piece of roast Apple but the meat was a stringy and tasteless and over cooked - but the beef was undescribably bad! I'd asked the lady at the bar about it and was assured it was freshly roasted in the pub that morning. 3 slices of my own shoe leather would have been more succulent. It was ready sliced rounds of dry, tasteless meat and, to make it worse, both plates were swamped with gravy we hadn't asked for, so you couldn't tell what was what,. Very, very disappointing. What is hard to understand is that they can produce such good fried fish and chips and home made puddings, but serve up bought in pre sliced and maybe pre cooked meat and say it's freshly roast and charge nearly £10 for the one plate. Maybe they could find a way to set the same standard throughout the week, or pay a good cook to supervise the buying of all the food and its preparation. So we will happily go again on a Friday but Sundays are a definite no-no which is a shame as otherwise it's a great pub. I've ticked reservations, but they only take them for a table of 6 or more.

The Raven is absolutely amazing as a place to stay and as a village community run pub. Our room was fantastic, and had a kitchenette and seating area with a view of the church over the road. We ate in the pub it was Curry night and both meals were superb. The room was good value at £60 and the whole experience of the stay was friendly. Would highly recommend. It was slightly off the path but we'll worth the 2 mile detour from the dyke

We wanted a quick lunch where we could sit outside so that the dog could come with us. I remembered about the Raven and it's benches outside. They were very accommodating, even to my anti social pooch. We decided to have the Dover sole. I can reiterate what other reviewers have said, the food is good quality simply but very well cooked. The sole was soft and moist. It was accompanied by perfectly cooked new potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Full marks. Llanarmon is a lovely little village and it was a pleasure to spend an hour watching rural life go by.

We'd been meaning to visit the Raven for some time but finally went for a meal on the spur of the moment. The menu was Oriental-themed on Thursday night with a good choice of well-cooked dishes in just the right portions. The welcome was most friendly and service was fast and attentive. A lot of hard work goes into running a community pub - I know from first-hand experience - but the Raven seems to have it just right. The location is stunning, at the centre of a lovely village, and it deserves to be successful. Highly recommended.

We've stayed near this place a few times now but this was our first visit. However, it definitely won't be the last.Great selection of food, prepared with great care and at a cost which offers truly great value for money.Within our party of six, every course was delicious.Nice, friendly staff too.

This is a proper community pub with a limited range of food done really well. I don't live in the village but will keep coming here because it's friendly, the food is excellent and it's a pub run by the community. I love it.
