We had made a reservation for dinner for 4 people about a month before our visit. However when we arrived we were advised that there was a waiting time to be served of 1 hour. This was because people without a reservation were accommodated, which is fine provided the restaurant can serve everyone in a reasonable time which they could not.Having waited over an hour to be served, the food was cold and really poor and the staff totally disinterested.There are some good restaurants in the area, this is not one of them, it is probably the worst

Most places were fully booked but this had space, so despite the terrible reviews, we gave it a go. Everything appears ok when you arrive in terms of decoration and ambience, but that all changes when you meet the first member of staff who points you to a table with no grace, gratitude and any sense welcome. Ordering is by QR code on the table (which opens an online wording system on your phone) which means service is actually none existent. That said when staff do appear to present food and drink, they have all been trained by the same person... a person who you would not want to meet on a deserted street. The food is basic at the most basic level, more 1970's pub than 2020's restaurant, which at least matches the service. Please read this review and plenty of other reviews and do not let them have your money until they actually start to give a damn and up their game at some level. Not hard to do given how poor it currently is.

We had a booking here for dinner at 745. On arrival, we were told all the bookings had been cancelled as they had let too many walk ins sit and didn’t have our table anymore. As far as I knew this is not how restaurants run and with no one else in the village taking walk ins, we are unable now to have any dinner. Absolutely terrible way to run a restaurant and if they can’t manage to run a booking system, I doubt they are able to do much else.

Tonight, we visited this hotel for dinner. After track and trace we were shown to our table and given the instruction to order food/drink through an app. No issues so far. Ordered the food/drink and then we waited, and waited, and waited. 2 tables that were in after us were given food but still we waited. 50 minutes passed so I spoke to the only visible member of staff - the guy behind the bar. Who then said service for food was between 45-60 minutes. I personally hope this isn’t the target time for this place because it’s not very ambitious. He said he’d get someone to check on my food and get back to me. 20 minutes passed and I still hadn’t heard anything. My girlfriend decided enough was enough and decided to tell them we wanted a refund. She was told that someone would need to come our table in order to process a refund (convenient). 2 minutes later our food magically arrived. Chilli corn carne ridiculously over spiced. Other dish was average, poor condiments on offer as well. So all in all, 70 minute wait for food for average food at best. Service was non existent. Clearly short staffed. On the topic of staff - one young guy wore his covid mask under his chin the entire time we were there and another member of staff completely blanked me when I let him by me when I went to the toilet.

Service wasn’t great. They wouldn’t do table service even though on the sign they had they would. Was just asked to download the app/website and order the food,drinks from that which was hard and time consuming. We got the food but no drinks were brought. We would have ordered desserts but found the app/website too difficult. Food was tasty though, we had the vegan burger and chips.

I thought I’d make good use of my time whilst waiting for our starter to arrive to write this review.Currently been here for 50 minutes, and we only ordered from the starter / appetiser menu….still no sign of our food, or an explanation for the delay.Really unimpressed with the service.

As requested waited at hotel entrance to be seated at table outside after awhile guy said someone will be with you shortly five minutes later after rattling bottles behind the bar he came back and told us ok to sit at table that needed cleaning okay!! We asked if someone could come and clean it he answered yes whilst waiting we tried to download menu on app not very successful so after about ten minutes we asked another guy who was busy giving out drinks if someone could clean the table and take our order he said yes. After a further ten minutes the young couple on the next table asked for something to clean their table with having the same problem and tables were cleaned. Another ten minutes passed by and after another request for ordering our drinks and food sorted !!!!!Returning the next evening having given them the benefit of the doubt unfortunately it got worse, we had pre booked the restaurant for 5.30 on arrival and we were early so asked if we could sit outside and have a drink Yes take a seat the guy said I’ll send someone out to take your order fifteen minutes later we had to accost the same young man from the previous evening And tell him the problem yet again he took our order which came ten minutes after our allotted time in the restaurant. We had to pay at each step of ordering before we had received anything as if we were likely to do a runner at anytime overall a very disappointing evening I wanted to complain but apparently no one in charge

Arrived for a lunchtime meal after a long walk, we were shown to a table and told to scan a menu link and follow the app to order. Would have loved to just have got a quick drink whilst looking at the menu. After asking a staff member where a drink would be located in the app he didn't want to overly help at all. Once we had finally managed to complete the order, be added 'no onion' to one of the meals. Then you need to fill out your address and other details and then pay!! We got our drinks after about another 10 minutes, and then another 20 minutes the food came. I had a curry which was good, the no onion meal turned up with onions in the salad, so the details we'd added on the app were pointless.Whilst we were in there we saw other people struggling with the app and having long waits for drinks.I got the feeling due to it's location the bar/restaurant wasn't too bothered about customer satisfaction as you have to pay upfront, and a fresh bunch of visitors would be turning up the next day and the next day.

This place really was TERRIBLE, the drinks were awful and there is a clear training for staff. The food took two hours to come and when it did the scampi was raw, pie overcooked and we weren’t even given cutlery to eat it with despite asking twice. Would advise strongly not to eat here and not to pay up front before you’ve received your food!!

Came to watch the wales game with some friends, we were greeted by maddie at the door she seated up in a very polite and friendly manner she also helped us during our visit, We had a fantastic time, We had brilliant friendly service all the way through our visit especially from maddie will definitely be visiting again.

We called in on a busy Sunday afternoon to be seated immediately in the rear garden decked area.Service was very good and quick.All our lunches were cooked perfectly and deserts were gorgeous.The hotel looked very smart and clean a d after looking at pictures online it will definitely be one that I’ll look at if returning to Betws y Coed .

Came here for drinks only. Had to order our drinks through their app. After placing our order 20 mins had passed so we went to the bar to ask where the drinks were. I could see our drinks on one of the trays at the bar and was told our drinks will get made now. Another 5 mins passed and I went back to the bar just to cancel the order but the suddenly found our order and because they had been out on the bar for so long theyd gone flat. Definitely won't be visiting again

Worst experience of eating a pub ever... Grabbed a table on Sunday evening as the pub we wanted to go to was full. The table had some plates on that hadn't been cleared but was the only table free. Ordered on the app, drinks arrived 20 minutes later and we asked the staff member if he could clear the tables who said he will get someone to clear them. Fast forward to an hour after ordering - no food and dirty plates still on table. I took the plates into the bar and stated that they had been on our table for over an hour to which the 3 members of staff behind the bar shouted at me to say I shouldn't sit on a dirty table. I expressed this was not acceptable to which they just shouted the same thing. A staff member came out to clear some glasses outside and stated to us they have a policy to not clear tables if people are still sat on them!? What if you want a couple of drinks after your meal, are you meant to sit there with dirty plates hanging around? I have never been to a pub over the many years of visiting them where they have a policy to not clear tables. We were also told the app stated that there would be an hour wait for food but we saw nothing to tell us this and looking at the reviews other customers also had no warning. Food came over an hour after ordering of which was sub-par for the money but edible. This particular staff member was the only one who had any customer service that worked there it seemed. We left, walked around Betwys-y-coed, got in car and drove past.... plates still on the table!

We were here a week or so ago, and the meal was beautiful! Well cooked and presented. Great service too.. Brilliant!!! ❤️

Came in for some lunch with my daughter and grandson. It was very busy and we could see that the bar team were very busy. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman and he was very polite, friendly and very helpful. I was impressed with the new refurb, and the changes they had made inside and outside of the hotel. I will be visiting again with my family as the food and service was great.

We had a fair wait for our pizza and burger main course - not helped by a large group being in that night for food - and this was slightly frustrating. But the nice manager was happy to offer my friend and I a free brownie each for pudding which put a smile on our faces. So do visit this place for hearty pub food and good local beer.

We stayed at the Gwydyr hotel and ate in the restaurant the first night. Worse meal we’ve had in a long time. The staff seem to be fire fighting the whole time. Drinks ordered through the app take at least 25minutes to arrive, if they ever do. Many times I had to go and ask if the drinks sat waiting on the bar getting warm were mine.They forgot our starters and sent mains instead, which in hind site was good as the mains were pretty rank - it’s clearly frozen food. When we complained about our meal the manager wasn’t interested and just wanted to get away to deal with others. He promised a refund but this hasn’t materialised yet. I did wonder why they take payment for food when you order but now I know why. We avoided this place for the rest of our trip and had much better meals elsewhere. Seriously avoid this place, even for drinks unless you like waiting for disappointment.

Do not bother!!! I already wasted my time eating here, so I’m not going to bother wasting more of my time writing a big review. If I could give 0 stars I would. Food/drink/service - All Appalling!!Wish I had read the comments on here before wasted £115!! Children went away starving, we left everything.. including the nasty cheap wine!!

Food took 2 hours and 30 minutes to come it is disgraceful the staff work there socks off and there is only about 5 staff on shift and the management is terrible had a man come to the table 3 times thinking it’s our food the staff are running round trying there best but they can’t manage it they need to get more staff in the food is overcooked or undercooked they can never get it right I stayed 4 nights and would not recommend eating at their restaurant eat ANYWHERE ELSE

Probably the worst experience ever, you think a place as busy as this would be use to customer service.Tried to order through the app website, no table number asked member of staff and got rude reply like we were just meant to know what table it was.Ordered 2 paninis and some chips and nothing for 40 minutes spoke to staff and they someone should be straight out they weren’t and after another 20 minutes we got a refund and leftAbsolutely no point in this place being a business, the man stand owner need to be gone and people need to stop coming here

I booked two Tables for 10 friends. Four friends on one table waited 10 mins for firstl drink before chasing order to be told it would be another 20 mins! They left at that point which as the host was embarrassing and upsetting. On our Table of six we placed initial drinks orders and it took three attempts to get the order right. Starters took an hour to arrive and another hour for the main course. One main was inedible so that was returned and a substitute ordered. The room was cold and we had to ask three times for logs to be put on the fire.Food was dry, bland and not cooked well. It was a busy night I get it, but it was the worst service I have ever experienced. We complained to the General Manager James and we asked for a substantial discount off the bill. A discount was forthcoming admittedly but not to our satisfaction. He did apologise profusely but at the end of the day did not go far enough. Yes they were short staffed and had only recently opened inside after lockdown but to try and serve hundreds of meals and drinks with only a few staff was crazy! The staff were all clearly stressed but did what they've could ro help during the evening. The Management are clearly responsible for the situation and need to only take reservations for the number of covers that the staff can mamage to serve. A very upsetting evening. Go ANYWHERE else.

Fantastic food, service and very friendly staff. Hotel in stunning location with nice views. Highly recommend.

Loved every thing we ate from the breakfast with the outstanding mushrooms through to every course of our delicious dinner and wow the cockails and the chilled to perfection drinks

We prefered to eat in town, for the good choice available. This is not the cheapest place, but the food is good. Football fans are well served, as there is a white wall in the dining room with an overhead projector.

I wish I had read the other reviews of this place before booking a table! The food is overpriced and very poor quality, you would eat better food at a Wetherspoons and pay half the price. Service was slow but the staff were clearly rushed off their feet and we had to ask for our table to be cleaned, really not great Covid safety. The food was poorly cooked, possible microwaved. Sauces were watery and the meat a very odd texture. We complained and an apology was made by our server but no offer of removing the barely touched meals from our bill.

We were there for food on Monday, service was very long waiting and unfriendly. I understand they were overly busy noticed only two person doing everything that evening we appreciate that but food was really bad quality the price they charged.

When we arrive I had to ask three times for our table to be cleaned, during coronavirus pandemic. Food very poor and over priced for the quality.

We were in Betws-y-Coed over the August bank holiday weekend and booked a table for the Saturday night. I was surprised to get a booking at such late notice, as the whole town was extremely busy, and now I know why! The staff were all friendly enough, but the service and the food is just not up to scratch. Once we were shown to our table I had to queue up for about half an hour just to get a drink. There was only one "barman" serving, and he was nice enough but was certainly not in any rush. Why they couldn't put more staff on when the queue was snaking half way around the hotel is a mystery. Once I got to the front of the queue I decided to order our meals at the same time as I didn't want to have to queue again! When the meals came, they were overcooked, dry and unappealing. I had the half chicken and my son had chicken nuggets. They were overcooked and on the verge of being burnt. I know it was busy, but surely these aren't difficult meals to cook? I wouldn't recommend this place.

Stopped here for a pizza for Lunch. After 40 mins no food arrived, when others who arrived after us had their food, had to ask and was told that the order didn’t got through the till. Waited another 20 mins for pizza to arrive. Asked for complementary drink which I had to ask the manager, the the manager was too busy to “trace” our order and the drink never arrived. Appalling attitude from Manager and staff

Ate here on a Wed and benefited from the eat out to help out deal although we didn’t go for that reason. Sat outside and went to order at the bar. Brought our drinks outside and lunch arrived in around 20 mins. Steak pies were delicious as were the chunky chips. Also had some sandwiches which were nice but the pies were definitely nicer!

I ordered a cup of tea and a sandwich from the bar for lunch, to eat at a table outside. The tea was served, already poured into a large bowl-like cup (like one intended for an extra-large coffee) but the cup was only half full. Odd! It was extremely weak. Why not I leave the tea bag in the cup so that customers can brew their drink to suit their preference?Half an hour later, my tea had gone cold, but my sandwich still had not arrived. I went back to the bar to ask what had happened, and it was served about 10 minutes later (after a server had tried to give us someone else’s meals). The sandwich itself tasted OK, but included a lump of cellophane- presumably the ham had been wrapped in cellophane before being sliced. Overall, a very disorganised and disappointing lunch.

Quick Summary:+ Great location+ Interior and atmosphere- "Okay" food. For the same price the Stables is unquestionably better quality.- Lack of signage. Two signs would have improved our visit "Our website doesn't let you finish ordering, please order at the bar" AND "please seat yourselves"-Staff were overwhelmed so service was abysmal in speed and quality.Full Review:We visited as a group of 5 for lunch. When we arrived we queued behind a couple and nobody came to show us to a table or ask if we were okay.Straight off the bat, a sign saying "please seat yourselves" would have done the trick (although seating yourselves when tables need vigorous cleaning more than ever is a bit questionable...)Once sat down, the interior of the restaurant really stands out. It's spacious, nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere.We decided to use the website given on the menu to buy our food/drinks. After we went through our options and went to pay, the website tells you its actually "closed". It turns out the website doesn't work with the 50% off discount so they disabled it (although it clearly does take the money off the items so I'm not sure that makes sense).We queued at the bar and managed to order. The staff were clearly overwhelmed and or understaffed for the amount of visitors, especially considering the eat out to help out promotion.50 minutes of waiting, we eventually get our food. Other people who came in after us got their food a lot earlier so you could tell things were not organised.When the food arrived, all I could describe it as is "okay". We weren't expecting fine dining, but this place charges similar prices to the Stables down the road, which has WAY better food. This was your standard pub grub.We originally thought we'd come back the day after for dinner but decided to go elsewhere, given the experience.

We just stopped off on our way back from a Ogwen Cottage walk. Ideal to use the bar area for hot drinks, soup and chips. Allows dogs in the bar. The service was a little slow at the bar and sadly the app service said it was closed so couldn’t use the table service.

Absolutely disgusted in what my partner has been through at your establishment today, was refused a high chair for our 6 month old baby, waited almost 2 hours for her food only to arrive burnt and half of it missing, rude staff absolutely no clue in what they were doing! As locals living only in bethesda i can assure you we will not be visiting your establishment again and would advise anyone else to visit the stables up the road. Gwarthus!!

I visited the Gwydry Hotel recently and was disappointed with the poor service my friends and received. Our meals arrived without the vegetable component (which we had paid full price for). When I queried this the staff member, he said they had run out of the vegetables and he only reluctantly offered us an alternative when I said I was not happy with my meal. Another staff member blamed us saying we were an hour late, despite us being ten minutes early to our reservation. The food however was reasonably nice it’s just a shame the staff were not helpful.

Today we enjoyed a fantastic meal at Gwydyr. The staff are very friendly and the quality of the food was fantastic. Hotel had all Covid safety in place and we had to scan a code on the way in to register. Fantastic service thank you.

We visited Betws yesterday and decided to have lunch at Gwydyr. Not only is the hotel in a perfect location the warm and friendly service we had from the staff also made our day even more special. The food was great and we had a great time.

We used this pub on both nights of our stay in the area and we think a little praise is needed for the staff in these difficult times. Our food and drink were served in a pleasant manner within a quite busy pub. Yes the meals did take a while to come out and one customer did give the bar staff a hard time but they remained calm and pleasant which is more than can be said for the customer. “Perhaps he needed a cuddle”

Lovely hotel and lovely staff, they couldn't do enough for us, good choice of food and ales, Situated in the centre of where you need to be, lovely rooms with free WiFi, we will be back.

Well this place has very good food, the weight can be as long as an hour 15 minutes. Prices are moderate but not worth the long wait!

Blow torched fat under the guise of crispy belly pork couldn't even begin it - returned it once but same piece of fat brought back husbands fish was warmed up frozen so dissapointed

I am so sorry to write this review, but we have just had the worst experience in our family dining history. We came to eat some dinner this evening after a great day at zip world. After receiving swift service on the drinks we were really looking forward to a nice bar mealWe ordered three starters and five main courses. For starter we ordered haloumi fries, chicken wings and nachos with chilliUnfortunately when our starters arrived we were given burnt chicken and nachos without chilli. The fries were fine. After sending the chicken and nachos back, we received another set of burnt chicken and the nachos now with sweet chilli sauce poured over. When we questioned the chilli, we were told that’s what they do. The kids were starving so they ate what they could and we waited for our mains. We were then greeted with 3 of our five mains a burger on stale bread, chips still frozen in the middle clearly frozen chicken pieces and burnt ribs. We waited a further ten minutes for our remaining meals after which time we decided we were better off leaving as we could eat together now. Unfortunately it was from this point forward things went down hillWe suggested we leave and have our money returned for the meals not eaten. Janes the owner was insistent that would not be returned. Telling us we were rude to his staff during our time with them - which is totally baffling as we only saw the waitress for a total of 30 seconds. During our conversation about refund for the meal James was in fact told by another customer how rude he was being to me. I am also a bit challenged to share that at one point physically pushed by one of James team.It has been a bit of a surreal evening and one I am still fairly shocked about. Needless to say we then went to a fab pizza place and enjoyed a beautiful meal. Although we will be back to the area which is stunning, we will avoid this establishment.

It turned out the pub we had planned to go to required advance bookings because of COVID. Luckily this place was nearby and serving food outside the place has a relaxed atmosphere, with very friendly staff and tasty food. There was a new member of staff who unfortunately got our order wrong (a chicken curry instead of vegetarian) but the error was fixed quickly and we were given free drinks to make up for it, which was very generous ☺️ Would come again.

Looked for a traditional steak and ale pie and we found it here. Home made (I think), plenty of it and with great chips and veg washed down with Welsh beer. We were impresssed enough to go back the next evening this time for the chicken pie and it was just as good

Friendly staff, nice place but the food let us down. Ordered the steak was asked how I would like it cooked which I replied medium, what I got was a very small piece of chuck, over cooked and very fatty and non edible, hubby had the lemon sole which he did enjoy but was on the rather small side given the price. We didn't have a starter nor a sweet so in all fairness it might just be a case of hit or miss with the food.

Paid 14 quid for 3 pieced of shrimp and 6 pieces of fried squid with some old brown salad. Nuff said...

Stayed here with family in a party of 13 from 31st July for 2 nights. We did the Forest coaster on Wednesday, walked Snowdon on Thursday & looked around & paddled in Betws-y-coed on Friday. The staff were always really helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for Keith, thank you. Rooms were spacious & very comfortable. Ate both nights in the restaurant because the food was so good & reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommend the breakfast too. We are already planning to come back next year. Thank you for a great stay.

Had tea here after a day walking around Betws y Coed and had the steak and guiness pie, food was nice and hot fantastic chips, with good service as well. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed at the Gwydyr Hotel having booked at short notice for a weekends mountain biking, Dawn and the rest of the staff were really welcoming, place is lovely and really tidy. The room i had was great for what i needed. The breakfast on Saturday morning set me up nicely for the day! Ill definitely return. Thanks again

Friendly staff, hotel has parking and was easy to find. Located approx 20mins from zip world venues as well as Llanberis path of you climb snowden. Food in restaurant was excellent, tasty, hot and plenty of choice. Breakfast can choose from a choice of cooked breakfast or porridge, toast, cereals and juices. Rooms were spacious and clean, fresh towels for every morning. Suitable for a weekend stay in north wales. We had to wait a little for check in and check out but not a major issue just ring the bell and someone will soon come to help. Overall a very nice stay in north wales and would return.

We called in here for lunch and had pie and chips, the chips were nicely cooked, hand cut and delicious.. it was really enjoyable so we went back for the evening meal and had scampi in a basket - a real blast from the past !! Again great service, good food. Would I go again ? Well we already have !!

We visited here with our dog after a day walking and they were very dog friendly in a sperate room and the food was delicious! Local ales too.

Ate here with our dog in the function room (which was ok but lacked ambience and had the large tv screen showing sport) which was great as he was with us but food was quite expensive for what it was (but this was the case throughout Betws y coed be warned). Most items on the menu were deep fried which is never great with me but the chef made me a salad to go with my deep fried calamari. Hubby had a pie which was fine but just a pie. Would return due to the fact they were dog friendly.

We stayed mid week and had room 6 which over looked the road.The hotel is very central and seems to have been recently refurbished in the downstairs areas.The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed a tasty breakfast on both mornings.would recommend,specially if your taking your dog/s.

We had an early evening dinner here. The food has fresh & tasty - certainly of the home cooked variety. Nothing wrong with that. We encountered two members of staff - a friendly, polite and efficient young lady, and a older gentleman who was the opposite. We would return on the basis of her service - not his!

The hotel staff was brilliant to me and Freya(border collie),I was feeling ill and had an infection. they had called an ambulance and took care of my dog fpr three days while I was in bed. I would recommend anyone with a dog to go there.

Stopped in for a dinner after a long day of driving. We sat in the bar area, got menus and ordered at the counter. The staff were friendly and the beer was cold but the meal was sad. Ordered the beer battered onion rings which tasted like they were cooked in OLD cooking oil. Also got a order of Nachos, which was a little cheese melted over a few corn chips with some sliced jalapenos, the menu stated that it came with a sour cream dip, but we didn't not get any. After two failed attempts to get something good, we decided to ask the staff for a recommendation on what to order and they suggested the steak and chips with peas. The steak was good, but again the chips had that old oil flavor and the peas tasted frozen and flavorless. The worse part was myself and my wife both got sick. Not good on a holiday trip. Sorry, but we could not recommend.

A slightly strange experience in an empty room with a huge screen, but very welcoming, good food and very good service.

Booked last minute and got a very nice deluxe room with views over towards the river. Car park behind the hotel. We had our evening meal in the restaurant which was delicious as was the breakfast the following day.

Lovely old building with beautiful features. The bar man was lovely and friendly and polite with it. We ordered the sea bass for my partner and I had 2 starters of tempura prawns and sauteed leeks in a cheese sauce with egg. All 3 dishes were faultless and just what we needed. Served fairly quickly as well which was a bonus as we were both starving. Not the cheapest place in the town but if you want a something a little different it's the place to eat.

First visit with the dog. Although we were Sat in a room on our own the food and service is excellent. Do not be put off by the old world look it is a great pub and serves great food.

We’ve just stopped here for an early tea on our way to camping in Snowdonia. It’s obviously a football fans pub as they have a 200 inch screen in one room. We opted for the room with the smaller sports screen and noticed a group of men engrossed in the match. Once we sat down I realised the group of men were actually the chef and three bar/hotel staff. They only moved from where they were sat when someone approached the bar which made you feel an inconvenience. One barman seemed to have placed bets on various matches as he was on his phone, and hoped that Leeds wouldn’t ‘let him down’.

Came here for some drinks after a day of hiking. Greeted by very nice staff. There was a decent choice of lagers and a couple of nice ales available. There was also a very large screen which had the football on.

Good service and lovely food and good size portions would definitely recommend staff asking you if you needed any thing and food was quick coming out

While on holiday in Betws y Coed we ate at this location twice, the food & service was good at a very reasonable price for the amount you got,the staff were polite & well manured & the place was as clean as it possibly could be, two very nice nights out. The steak & Guiness pie is highly recomended

What a fabulous meal. From starter to desert. The vegetables were so fresh and tasty. Service was excellent in a stylishly decorated venue. All round great value. Will d back especially as walking distance from our caravan park

Came here for dinner on our weekend in Betys Coed. We have come here a few times in the past. We liked this place as my husband and my youngest son are highly allergic to peanuts and they did not sell them here and told us they never will. Came here this month and saw they sell peanuts. We were utterly upset and disgusted that they would flaunt about such a deadly thing. Not only that but the person at the bar did not seem to care about us arriving, they were too busy talking to who I assume was the chef judging on his attire. The atmosphere has changed considerably from how it used to be. We went out in despair due to that and the fact they were now selling peanuts. They clearly only care about profit! Will not be going back.

After a long drive , we were hungry and tired and then had to find a dog friendly place to eat. The Gwydyr Hotel provided a great welcome was dog friendly and we had a really good meal. The steak pie and ham and eggs both served with chips and peas were delicious.

We ate twice here as the food is so good, steaks were cooked perfectly and the burger was huge but my husband managed it all except I stole an onion ring as they're amazing. Will be back when we're next in the area.

Just a stroll through Betws y Coed takes you to this lovely, friendly and welcoming hotel. Great spot to enjoy well kept beer and good quality, reasonable priced food without hoards of tourists. We had a few pints and bar food - perfect.

Great food here. The staff were welcoming to us and our dog. A good place for a lunch. Elegant surroundings.

Called one evening for a bar meal sat outside & had some tasty pies peas chips & gravy ,pleasant friendly staff.

Die Getränke und Speisen werden an der Bar bestellt, das Essen wird serviert. Der Schinken war absolut lecker; der Fish Pie war eher ein Auflauf, aber auch schmackhaft und gut. Preislich völlig in Ordnung. Es fehlt an "Liebe zum Essen".

Friendly staff average food but pricey for the quality, steak was nice but frozen chips. There was no atmosphere and we were the only ones in there.

We were told we might get a Sunday dinner here by a member of another bar that had ran out of them. We got, we ate, we were hungry. Good portions admittedly but the mashed and roasted potatoes were seemingly out of a packet kind. Rubbery, to say the least. There were some tasteful things on the plate. The pork was nice even though a tad too fatty. Good variety of veg and tasty gravy but a let down with the spuds issue. Relaxing place for a drink though with friendly staff.

Friendly helpful staff and gorgeous food to suit all tastes, locally sourced fresh food, a wonderful meal.

We were welcomed into this friendly pub and sat and had a very cosy drink. Good beer with reasonable prices and a homely feel. There was a pool table and a TV as well but we just chatted and read a book for a bit. Nice

My wife and I stayed here while traveling thru north Wales with my brother and his wife. We decided to try the restaurant for dinner and were not disappointed in the least. I personally had the daily special of steak and kidney pie which was very good. My wife had the roasted chicken, my brother had a burger, and his wife had a goat cheese salad. Service was relatively quick and the convenience for us was great. I recommend trying this place whether you are staying at the hotel or not.

My daughters had climbed Lliwedd and Snowden and really needed refuelling . This place, chosen at randmo as it was convenient, did not dissapoint.Three of us had the burgers topped with Welsh Rarebit. Delicious .Lovely,relaxed dog- friendly atmosphere

Had fantastic meal , staff very polite ,and a warm cosy dining area . I had the pasta dish and my partner had the half chicken .

This place gets quite rowdy and was packed full of drunken people when we arrived. Our daughter saw and heard some drunken antics that I'd rather she hadn't when we were in the foyer, which wasn't the fault of the management, I know. The woman who checked us in reassured us that it would get quieter and it did, but it did put us off a bit. The hotel itself is fine but some parts look a touch shabby but this didn't bother me as it still looked clean. However, although the shower and all of the bathroom looked clean and was modern (but tiny), I wasn't that pleased with the bedroom furniture. The bed bases looked scruffy, the chair cushion had no cover on it and the bed smelt a bit. I looked at the bed and it was clean but had no mattress cover which I thought wasn't great in terms of hygiene as mattress covers do tend to keep the beds cleaner.

there was certainly plenty of food and it was Ok, but when the board outside promises lamb and interesting dishes and you get inside and you get bland burgers, pasta or fish pie, its a bit of a let down. the staff were nice enough, but its all a bit cramped. the burgers had that mass produced feel to them , the chips were not cooked and the onions rings might have come from lidl. the pasta was nice enough , but again - not chef made. OK pub grub, but nothing to really write home about

We ate here for the first time and were really impressed with the food and service alike.Visited Betws y Coed for a 50th birthday so wanted somewhere nice to eat, this place was perfect, starters were brought out quickly as were drinks, mains were lovely,the host was a lovely chap, attentive but not over the top, really friendly - even brought out a free whisky for the birthday boy!We would definitely eat here again.

Called for Sunday lunch - brilliant Sunday roast (soup & sweet) - excellent- just like home made - would definitely visit again when we are in the area. Highly recommend!!!

Everything is brilliant at this hotel. Fabulous food, very friendly staff, lovely ambience. Their is a very good choice of food both at lunchtime and evening. In fact food is served from 12 untill9.

right on the main st and so lots of tourist traffic, so can be crowded and noisy ... good bar food, nice pleasant staff ...

While on holiday in North Wales, my wife and I found Betws-y-Coed to be a very dog friendly place to visit with riverside walks and a railway museum that accepts dogs. We even took our dog on a miniature train ride. To cap a very pleasant morning we had a superb lunch in a dog friendly area at the Gwydyr Hotel. We found the staff to be very friendly and efficient and there was plenty of space for our dog to stretch out. We were so impressed we made a return visit for a second lunch later in the week - and it was equally impressive. For customers without dogs there are separate areas to dine.

My compliments to the chef. Tastiest food I have had in any hotel. Would highly recommend the food and the service.
