Great selection of gluten free options - even as a gluten free vegetarian! Staff were absolutely lovely and very knowledgeable about allergies. Food was lush, thoroughly enjoyed! Would particularly recommend the rhubarb and custard Eton mess!

Lovely restaurant, great food and great service. The location was great we were staying in Tywyn but so worth the visit out. The service was great and food was lovely puddings especially. Great for the dogs too!

On holiday in wales we visited Cross Foxes for Sunday lunch and it was excellent, We have been visiting this area for the last few years and use Cross Foxes every year and the food has never disappointed us, good service good food good atmosphere

Very disappointing, we hadn’t booked, walked in and there were quite a few tables empty so we were optimistic, stood for a while to be acknowledged whilst a lady in a dress and a girl in uniform had a conversation about some customers that we felt wasn’t very professional as the girl was having a bit of a moan, the girl did eventually ask us if we had booked, when we said we hadn’t she looked at the other lady who had her back to us, she just turned her head and said we haven’t got tables inside but you can sit outside on the balcony, as the area is slightly limited for places to eat we agreed, had there been somewhere else to go we would have walked out as the first impression were quite a cold greeting. We found a table that was cleared of pots etc but needed wiping. The same young girl asked if we were ready to order, I asked (and my family confirmed I said it very nicely) if she could please wipe the table as it was quite dirty. I can only describe her behaviour as stroppy, she mumbled something and went off to get a cloth, her body language mad it clear that she wasn’t happy, but did wipe it, she then went off and served other tables before coming back to us, our grandson who is a bit of a fussy eater said he was going to just order the fish and chips as he darent ask her for anything different with his meal. We ordered the food when it came it was ok but we felt it wasn’t freshly prepared but just cooked there, it wasn’t bad but wouldn’t go back for the food. There were also some tables inside that were still empty throughout the whole time we were there so had the feeling that we were made to sit outside in the cold when we could have been seated inside. I was shivering so much that we didn’t bother with a pud, not quite sure if it was the weather or the frosty reception and service we received.

Great find at short notice! We had got back later than planned & were keen to get dinner. Upon calling The Cross Foxes at 820pm, we were advised that they stop taking orders at 830pm, however, the lovely lady I spoke to held us a table & we arrived at 829pm! They were more than happy to accommodate us & we enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal with drinks. From start to finish, everything was managed with a smile, with all people serving being very kind, friendly and attentive. Highly recommend anyone looking for a place to eat to try this place!

Wir haben das Restaurant eher zufällig auf der Durchreise gefunden. Die zahlreichen Autos davor haben uns neugierig gemacht. Wir hatten keine Reservierung und konnten entweder auf der großzügigen Terrasse Platz nehmen oder drinnen auf einen Sofa neben dem Kamin - dieser war aber nicht an. Wir haben uns für drinnen entschieden. In der Karte wird man auf eine Wartezeit von 45 min hingewiesen. Ziemlich genau nach Ablauf der Zeit kann auch unsere Bestellung. Die Gerichte sind einigermaßen aufwendig beschrieben und bei frischer Zubereitung war unsere Erwartung entsprechend hoch. Leider wurde sie nicht erfüllt. Die Speisen sind nett angerichtet, waren aber geschmacklich nicht herausragend. Für die Wartezeit und den Preis hatten wir besseres erwartet. (100 Pfund für 3 Personen nur mit Wasser, Softdrinks)

Very impressed with my first visit here. My husband, mum and I booked a table for Sunday lunch and weren’t disappointed. We all said it was the best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time. Thought it was about time to write Cross Foxes a review that they deserve! Today was probably the 6th time that I've enjoyed a tasty roast dinner at the restaurant and it was nothing short of perfect! It's very much a family favourite when it comes to booking a meal out, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the restaurant is super cosy (perfect for a winters day with the log fire on and the food is delicious! They have great menu options for different dietary requirements and, as a vegan myself, I love that I can still enjoy a delicious roast dinner! So, whether you want to refuel after time exploring the mountains or celebrate a special occasion with family or just simply want good food, The Cross Foxes is your place!

We stopped at the Cross Foxes for lunch during a long drive after a family recommendation, and we weren't disappointed. Our sandwiches were delicious, and the staff were attentive and very kind. A thanks goes out to Glyn, who does a fantastic job and is a kind person; we look forward to seeing you again. The atmosphere was lovely, with an open fire and comfy seats. We look forward to stopping again soon on our next trip.

Booked a table for two for Sunday lunch. Weather was windy, cold and wet but the welcome was warm. Sitting inside, it could be snowing outside and you wouldn’t know it! Lovely log fire as well. Ordered turkey with the trimmings and beef. Absolutely gorgeous meals. The beef was literally dropping off the fork it was so tender. Roasties and parsnips done to perfection. A small but plentiful bowls of vegetables including red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, sprouts and carrots. Absolutely lovely meal. Will be back as soon as possible. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

Went out for a birthday meal with the family. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. However, the food was disappointing, the chowder was very bland, and it had an overpowering cream taste, but nothing fish like at all. The main meals came out with overcooked, probably reheated chips. The gammon steaks had also been cremated with an overpowering charcoal burnt taste. The garlic bread that joined the sickly sweet pasta dish was also overcooked and burnt. The pastry on the pie was not cooked properly underneath and the vegetables that Join it looked frozen and soggy. Overall, it was a disappointing meal out, and I will not be returning or recommending the place to anyone.

On behalf of my family and I, I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at the Cross Foxes Inn. A fortnight ago, our car broke down 10 minutes away from the Cross Foxes Inn and we were left stranded by the RAC. We rang the hotel at 9pm asking if they had any rooms free and if they could give us a taxi number to get us to them. They did have a room and they actually drove out the pick up my wife and 5 year old up, whilst I stayed with my car awaiting a mechanic. Yes, they came out and picked my family up at 9.30pm. We were so grateful and still are. Not just did they give us a safe place to stay overnight, but what a place it is to stay. Our room was so so nice, with wooden beams running through it whilst still being really modern! The room was amazing, the staff were amazing and we even had an incredible Welsh breakfast the next morning. Our hire car was only arranged later on the next day and the staff allowed us to stay later in our room. We were so grateful and we still are. You are all amazing people and we’ll always pop in for a meal and to say hello whenever we next pass. Thank you so much, we still don’t know what we would have done without your generosity and support that night. You’re all amazing!

Rubbish weather on the hills. Had to abandon plans to meet partner and young child who were waiting for me in a car park, and they had no signal, wifi etc. The Cross Foxes was a refuge, and they understood my predicament completely, were very kind and went out of their way to help me. Emma - thank you. It’s clear why so many people go there - and I didn’t even eat or drink. But plenty do.

Our first visit and we had the best lunch. A lovely atmosphere with very friendly staff. Amazing food, the best starter I’ve ever had was Avocado, Quinoa and Feta. We all enjoyed the welsh beef burger, the curry and gammon with all the trimmings The dessert we chose were a lemon tart and a white chocolate and raspberry roulade it was so good. There was four of us eating and every meal was. amazing. And The presentation of the meals were exceptional and certainly worth a return visit.

Extremely friendly welcome by staff. We were a bit early and when we entered were offered to get our table straight away but we chose to sit in the comfy sofas bh the fireplace for a drink first. Once in the restaurant, service again was spot on and the food was delicious and generous. We both had to decline dessert. The whole place has a very welcoming and relaxed feel. They offer rooms too and from I've seen I would love to stop over here too ibe day. There is a big outdoor seating area and I bet in the summer the views will be stunning

Called for lunch whilst taking my son back home. It looked good when we have passed before. Looked it up and it sounded lovely. The whole experience was without fault . However, on returning home I looked up the food hygiene rating. I was so shocked to find that it has a rating of 0. I'm horrified to be honest. How can they trade with a rating so poor and why does no one else seem to find this a problem. Have I made a mistake? My food was lovely and so were the staff. The toilets were new and very clean.
