The best restaurants serving British food in Wales

We order as a group of around 8 while we are at work and the last 3 orders have been messed up. No potatoes in some, others have had half a piece of black pudding.. Few breakfasts with no mushrooms... On Friday we placed an order and told them that they messed up the last few times but the order we picked up had items missing yet again... We won't be using dinner jackets again...

Lovely welcoming team , the food was good pub grub standard , piping hot and good portions . Decor clean and modern , would be nice to have real candles on the table rather than battery ones 😀

Little cafe with friendly staff. Lovely selection of cakes and pastries. No vegan options except baked beans, chips or salad. Food freshly cooked and was lovely

An absolutely divine breakfast, just ask for a special 8,with tea and be nicely surprised by the price. 4star working breakfast and service

At the end of the Penrhyn Bar & Crill (which has plenty of outdoor seating), then Penrhyn Ice Cream Parlour has a good selection of ice creams - they even have ice cream for dogs. Covid regulations are observed; hand sanitiser is available and masks must be worn. Outside seating, at socially distanced tables, is available and, if you get tired of queuing for your ice cream, there are games machines available.

A lovely venue with beautiful views

Great service by Leighton this evening. He recommended the new Dubai style desserts which were an absolute 10/10. We had the steak experience for two which was amazing and really good value.

Lovely atmosphere very warm welcome really good food/drink especially the Guinness you may question the price but the portion size will justify... Definitely will be back

We enjoyed a pint outside while waiting for a table for the popular curry night, great value for £15 including a drink. Great atmosphere, nice food and friendly staff. Our Border Collie was a hit with the other customers!

Highly recommend it! Owner is very friendly and welcoming food was great we had chicken sausage, minced beef pie and chips great place for a nice chippy in Newport!

Great pub lunch, visited as a group of 8. Staff soon found a table for us and a drinks order was taken fast. Nice pub menu with an Italian theme, some great dishes on there. Food was very good as was the local beer from the lucky 7 brewery. Staff very friendly and helpful, great service. Recommend and would visit again

Came here not so long ago food was minging all frozen nothing was fresh the owner was not professional at all and the lady behind the bar was extremely rude and patronising she was short and brunette hair, cutlery was rusty and all smudged regulars behind the bar pouring their own drinks made the atmosphere awful parking was limited over all would not go there

Had a lovely lunch. The landlord and staff were absolutely lovely ,, a good old fashioned pub... Dog Friendly too..

Food was cold and terrible service, when we asked for it to be taken back because it was inedible the management were so obnoxious. Offered to swap it but wouldn’t give us a refund.

Been coming here for years, don't know what's happened here recently but the atmosphere is dull and so is the food, smaller portions for nearly double the price (shocking) and the quality of food has gone out the window. Either over cooked or undercooked. Service is average. No check backs, apparently no salt or peeper, and management look like they don't care at all and passing the blame to the staff, you're supposed to be a leader and taking responsibility. Joke. Will not be returning and recommend to anyone thinking of coming here to find somewhere else to eat. Waste of money for what they offer
