I just ate the best lamb of my life. The Welsh Lamb dish with mashed potatoes, fine green beans and a rosemary jus was OUTSTANDING. I would have paid double the £22 for it. Whoever the chef is, they will go a long way.. the finger sticky pudding was amazing too. I’d love to head back for Sunday lunch but we are leaving today to head home. The girls who hostess and waitress are adorable too. Very helpful and patient. This is an absolute gem. Don’t miss out!

What a little gem. We found the Royal Oak on line and looked in this week while visiting Saundersfoot. We visited as a family with a child who has a nut allergy. The staff could not have been more helpful fully answering all our questions. The food we ordered was excellent as was the service. Well done. We would recommend and will visit again when in the area.

This is our favourite pub in Saundersfoot but hadn’t eaten there for a while. It’s dog friendly but we left ours in the apartment as we wanted an hour to ourselves. I started with mushroom bruschetta and my husband had pâté. Both starters were delicious and filling and we could’ve easily shared one. To follow my husband had venison (Bambi) and I had sea bass (Nemo), both were cooked perfectly. I always look for sea bass on a menu in this area and I wasn’t disappointed. Just wish it wasn’t our last night or else we’d have eaten here again. Friendly staff and locals.

We popped into this pub / restaurant and decided to book for the following evening. It has a small bar area and a smallish restaurant so always a good idea to book. We ordered a mushroom brushetta which we shared, it was a large portion but so delicious, mains we had seafood veloutte which had large prawns, scallops and monkfish and a whole sea bass simply cooked with fries and salad, I say simply cooked but it was cooked to absolute perfection, the chef had such respect for this beautiful fish and this showed. All in all beautiful plates of food with very attentive staff.

Average food for inflated prices. Slow or non-existent service with a service charge thrown on as standard. As a last resort given how booked up everywhere gets it isn't bad, but it's nothing I'd recommend and don't understand the 5 star reviews.

What a great find. We popped in for a drink at lunchtime and booked a table for dinner. The welcome was so friendly; the food was brilliant as was the service. Starters were scallops and prawns; both absolutely lovely. My wife had lamb medallions for main, which melted in the mouth; I had ribeye, cooked lovely. We can’t fault this and recommend it.

Eaten here twice during our holiday and the food was divine, great service by attentive staff and dog friendly. Had the seafood veloute and hake off the specials and the fish pie and fish & chips off the regular menu good sized portions. The fish pie was cramed with smoked cod and salmon in a lovely sauce not too much mash topped off with lots of cheese but mine didn't have a single prawn in 😥. The seafood veloute was one of the best meals I've eaten in a pub and the same was said about the hake.

Food is pretty average pub fare. The service was disappointing, we'd been seated half an hour and no one came to take our food order. Later I asked for some glasses of tap water and was told 'of course' but they were never brought. A couple of the standard gluten free options you get in pubs (gammon or curry).

My wife and I had a meal at this establishment this evening, (Saturday the 7th Sept 2024).Being Saturday it was a busy evening but the staff were charming polite and very efficient. All appeared to be young but were full of energy and clearly keen to help and to serve. My wife ordered Hake from the specials menu which came with new potatoes, lemon butter, capers and a salad. I ordered Scampi with skin on chips, salad and extra coleslaw. To help things along my wife ordered a half pint of dry cider and I ordered a pint of ice cold larger. The food arrived within 20 minutes freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The hake was superb and ranks as some of the best my wife has ever tasted, I agree as I tasted it too. The scampi was really good, crisp outer crust and juicy highly flavoursome inner flesh. The chips were lovely, not at all greasy and with skins on were really tasty. The salads with both meals was lovely, crisp fresh salad vegetables and large slices of lemon to accompany the fish. My wife and I have eaten at many restaurants all over the UK and the World but despite being an ordinary and certainly not a top end Micheline starred premises the food we ate at the Royal Oak tonight was some of the best we have eaten - ANYWHERE. This was a case of simple high quality ingredients well prepared and cooked to perfection. Outstandingly good food and a very well done to all the very young staff we saw working so hard tonight. To be fair all the food we saw coming out to the other tables looked fabulous and was greeted by customers with high praise. Brilliant chef whoever it was tonight and the staff deserve recognition and a big thank you from the owners. Once again well done.... Mr and Mrs Adams Anglesey North Wales

Lovely view and lovely beer. Sat outside. Only issue was wife come back from the car grumping as shed been waiting at the bar and barlady serves local first after he walks in. In fairness she said she didn't mind that as was only one drink for a regular, and they keeps these places ticking over in winter. But at least acknowledge that it happened not just "next". Nice pub though. Didn't try the food as moved on.

Overall, I have to say we had a lovely time at The Royal Oak. The service was great and booking online was nice and easy too. However the veggie options left something to be desired (one veggie in the group). The veggie burger was below par, and the mushroom bruschetta as a starter wasn’t insane either.

My wife phoned and booked asking for a table for three for sunday lunch. No comment was made by the call taker that they do not do sunday lunches in season. When we arrived we were told no sunday dinner but we could order the pork which was the same. We gave that a miss at eighteen pounds and when we saw it on a nearby table we were pleased we did. no roast potatoes and a few beans. When ordering drinks one of our party ordered lager, but didn't specify which. That gave them the right to serve him a pint of morretti at £6.25 mustbe the dearest pint in saundersfoot. When the food came it was ok but just avarage. Gammon very salty, and burgers disappointing with the cheapest chips. To top it all off they put 10% survice charge on the bill which is not mentioned on the menu. In summing up I would say, as a local they need our custom in the winter so offer sunday lunch, but in the summer its open season to fleece all.

Delicious food, but poor service. Waited 20 minutes to order drinks, upon asking if we could order food at same time as drinks, we were told we had to wait 2 minutes which made no sense. The food then took 40 minutes to come, which felt like forever. No one came to check how our food was. However, mains were incredible. We had the lamb and it falls apart in your mouth, exceptional on all counts. We waited at least 10 mins after finishing for our plates to be cleared. We asked for dessert menu, and then I had to go and find someone to order as it seemed we had been forgotten about. We asked for the service charge to be removed and we were asked why, after explaining there were very long waits the lady just said ‘oh ok’. Would like to return because the food was amazing but unfortunately the service let it down on this occasion. We will try other places before returning because of this.

I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're with a group. We booked a table for 8 adults and 1 toddler and were asked to prebook our meals. We were sent a menu 3 days before that didn't appear to include everything. Following 2 calls and several emails, it turned out we'd been sent the wrong menu. The afternoon before our booking we sent over our preorder but with caveats on the starters as there were items on the menu (i.e soup of the day, pate of the week) that we would possibly prefer if they knew what they were. Next day we arrived for our booking, and there was barely a smile from any of the staff and we were told we couldn't amend our preorder but would have yo add on any new items as extras. I had ordered surf and turf which according to the menu came with a skewer of prawns. I asked for the steak medium rare and when it came out my steak was overcooked and it had lobster. I sent it back and was advised the lobster was the special that day and they weren't apologetic in the slightest that my meal wasn't what I had ordered. By the time I got the meal back my group had all finished their meal. The food was average and the service terrible apart from one young man that smiled, chatted to us all and made a very disappointing experience that little bit better. We didn't order desert and got out of there as fast as we could.

The pub is nice as are the staff, beer is a full measure, however I opted for the Mediterranean Grains priced at £15. When they arrived it looked like a starter, it wasn't. The amount provided was the same as the French Inspired Grains from Aldi priced at £1.59. I'd have at least expected a side salad or chips. Neither were an option. It just felt like a packet had been microwaveed and plopped in a bowl! I felt ripped off and wouldn't return. Shame as the decor is nice and the staff are friendly. Just very overpriced for what I got. I feel quite angry after spending time there. Vegetarian and Vegan options are very limited if not a piss take.

I’d previously had dinner at the Royal Oak early last year for a friends birthday and it was great, which is why I suggested to my partner that we go and try together. A year on and I honestly believe the food was even more amazing than the previous year. We had the mushroom bruschetta to start to share, followed by two steaks (which were cooked incredibly, I honestly think this is one of the tastiest steaks I’ve personally ever had). As I’m not a huge fan of chips I requested if it was possible to have mash potato instead, this was not a problem for the staff at all, the mash is soo tasty I think they should offer it as a side, it would most likely be a huge hit! Portion sizes were great. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant which was lovely as we were able to walk him along the beach beforehand. Honestly 10/10 experience for us! Staff were lovely & we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much!

We a party of 4 booked to eat here on a Wednesday night in mid September. We had tried to walk in on previous nights but it was full. We were greeted and shown to our table by very friendly staff. We ordered our food and drinks and after a while we were informed that one of the dishes was not available. When the food came it was delicious and again served by friendly staff. Well worth eating here but be prepared to accept that you may have to book the day before.

This place was a real gem! I spent the month of Sept traveling around the UK and Ireland and happened to be in Tenby on my 40th birthday, so wanted to take myself out to dinner. I was looking for a relaxed vibe but with good food that felt worthy of a "birthday dinner," even though I was traveling solo. I really lucked out with this place! The owner was there and his son was tending bar and I could have talked to them all night. So friendly and fun! The woman who brought my food and took my order was so attentive and accommodating even though I was eating downstairs instead of in the main dining area (upstairs). Excellent service!! I ended up chatting with a lovely couple with an adorable dog all night, drinking wine, and eating fantastic scallops...my birthday dinner couldn't have been better. At the end of the night, the owner paid my tab! Who does that?! This was one of my top 10 dining experiences. Everyone should visit Plantagenet House when in Tenby if you want a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, a relaxed vibe in a cool setting, and yummy food.

The American Diner has a totally different business philosophy with next to no signage, we had Google maps on and still struggled to find it. It is conveniently hidden inside the Fish and Chip shop, it is red roped off for VIPs only and when you try to enter after triumphantly finding it, you are met by a rude woman that sharply indicates there is no sit down service, or internal queuing it would seem, and that you need to order through the window. Following form, not a single do not enter sign, obviously why waste money on signs when you must be approaching recievership anyway! This is the best review I can give after the way we were spoken too. We did not buy, so cannot attest to the quality, but if they treat the food the way they treat their custom, we dodged a bullet.

The best "Proper Pub" in St David's. Good ale and a great atmosphere. No food when we went as the kitchen is closed for the winter.

I was excited to try the kiosk after visiting the area on holiday. Sadly it didn’t live up to expectations. The server was neither welcoming nor friendly. The sandwiches I ordered were due to come with coleslaw and a side salad. But when I opened the box neither were inside. I’m not very assertive so it took a lot for me to go back in and explain to the server. He said he’d run out of coleslaw but could do a side salad. No apology or hadn’t mentioned this when I placed my order. I wouldn’t have bothered paying over £16 for just two sandwiches. Sadly I didn’t have the confidence to ask for my money back as my anxiety got the better of me, so walked away. The sandwiches were tasty and the bread fresh, but we won’t be going back I’m afraid. Really disappointed. Everywhere else we’ve been had been so friendly with good customer service.
