Can't rate this place as was in complete darkness and doors locked at 6pm when should of been open

Made to feel very welcome and the food was lovely

Overpriced awful food. Burger - scored zero, no lettuce or garnish and was tasteless. Similar to that of a burger van. Mozzarella sticks , over £7 for 4 from a frozen packet. Kids food, disgusting. Very disappointed overall and over £40 for a kids meal, adults and one starter. Strongly advise to try elsewhere and not here

Great place for an evening meal with great prices and friendly staff

Lovely Sunday roast. Visited with family of 5 and a dog. The roast chicken was delicious and was huge, a breast and wing on the bone with roast potatoes, parsnips and plenty of veg. Would highly recommend.

Shocking place, this is my second review after hearing there were new owners so thought we would give it a go. Was told no food until 8pm, not that we wanted any! Grubby sticky tables, worn decor, very limited menu choices, dark and dinghy, not even going to talk about the state of the toilets , just awful. No lemon for gin, and downright dirty. This place makes their money from holiday makers , trust me go elsewhere !!

This pub is a must if you are in the area. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent one of the best gammon dishes I’ve ever had. My son had the burger and was impressed with the quality. So much so we visited a second night. As a coeliac the gluten free options were fabulous- mains and desserts. I would definitely visit again , highly recommend.

Not great unfortunately, dingy pub with a really unpleasant smell and sticky seats, needs to be aired out and the furnishings need steam cleaning at a minimum if its not going to be changed soon. The Pizza was terrible, it was like an Iceland £1 pizza and we paid £14 each! The cups were also not clean. Only upside is dogs are allowed in the bar area or outside and staff were pleasant enough, just let down by the run down look and poor food. Really in need of a revamp. Sadly, would not recommend.

A really really lovely authentic pub! Will was a lovely gent who served us at the bar, as well as the 2 servers who ferried everything back and forth. Beer garden is cracking, perfect sun trap! We parked across the road in a free pub car park, just need to be careful when crossing the road. Toilets were well kept and clean, can't be helped they are downstairs, I think the pub dining room could be done with being lit up a bit more to make it more homely. We had pizzas, dirty fries, jalapeño bites and white bait. The pizzas I think could have done with a little less time in the oven as they were a bit too crispy on the edges but we enjoyed them, the bites were yum and the white bait was immaculate, my dad loved it a lot! I think it nails classic pub grub, so to all the other reviews that slate the food I think are so incorrect, it was great and I'd be happy to come back!!! Want to highlight that Will's friendly demeanor and service made our visit brilliant!

Stopped off here for food as we were staying nearby in a cottage behind the pub. A group of 3 adults and 3 kids with 1 fussy eater and 1 vegetarian. We were made to feel really welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. Didn't have to wait long for food and the food was lovely. My husband had steak and he said its one of the best he's had, the chicken burgers were amazing, also pizza and veggie lasagne went down a treat. Good choice of food and good value. Yes the pub is very dated but that's what makes it a typical traditional local. Will definitely come back when we are down this way again

After reading some of the reviews we avoided this place like the plague.. We was a family of 4 and was quite expensive and over charged i think . Gotta be honest the food was nice, I had the mixed grill,kids had scampi chips, gammon and chips, wife had fish and boiled potatoes, Down side the toilet was downstairs and the stairs was steep, and the pub was outdated and need a revamp Parking was opposite which was a nightmare to cross a busy toad. The staff was friendly and quick service

So wish we’d read the reviews. Sunday lunch, yuk 2 slices of meat, pork had string still on it, beef was mushy Broccoli soggy/watery & mush Stuffing burnt Snips burnt Carrots had gone off Gravy was Demi glaze, yuk Yorkie frozen Swede frozen n tasteless Mash was ok Cauliflower cheese edible. Basically bloody awful, £15 a head Guessing the old guy in the bar who nodded towards a table for us is the owner. Bar/table staff were luvly I’m guessing it’s a family business n it’s time for the younger ones to take over & turn this business around.

I wish I could add the extra star ⭐⭐⭐ and say this was your standard pub grub, but... 😬 It really wasn't. No complaints about the sausage & mash other than the price. I know this is a seaside location and it is a bit pricey everywhere but it's £15 for 3 small sausages on a mountain of mash with gravy, simple pub meal with major profit margins. A quick drive or stroll over to Tenby, a more popular tourist destination and I could spend the same amount on a good steak or some freshly caught fish. But they have competition in Tenby, which I am assuming there is very little of in Lydstep and we just take advantage of the passing trade with very little effort. I say this because our other meals also did not impress. More standard pub grub, lasagne ect. Now I could be wrong, but I would be very surprised if those meals were made from scratch. Most likely we have ordered ready made meals from Castle Howell, transferred into a serving dish, topped with cheese and heated, hopefully not in a microwave before being brought to the table. I can easily reheat a lasagne at home and for much cheaper, and thoroughly cooked through, which the kitchen also seemed to struggle with. So it's expensive, undercooked and likely to come in a box frozen, that's not what I expect to pay good money for and if there was some more competition I highly doubt anyone would. Staff are lovely and accommodating but there's not much they can do, it's the owners who need to change their menu and provide good quality food.

Great food and excellent staff. Although we had to wait the chef and out and had a chat at the end. Highly recommend.

£7.50 for four low quality small halumi fries (the sort you would get from Iceland for about a £1 for a pack of 10). Sticky seats, dated.

After reading reviews we hoped they'd taken them on board. We were tired after a long journey and just wanted a good meal and bed. We were wrong, low quality, tasteless and incredibly overpriced for what we felt was straight from the aisle. Very disappointed and will not be going again.

Lovely, spacious, dog friendly country pub. Menu has quite a few options, the vegetarian options were good and well portioned. Staff seemed all quite young but did a good job all around! Recommend stoping over if you're in the area.

This pub has had its day. The carpets needed hoovering down to the loos. It was just a really poor overall plus expensive!

We don’t normally write reviews but felt really disappointed with the food we had last night. It was all very basic and lacked any real effort or care. My daughter had children’s pizza which was like one of the £1 pizza’s in Tesco. The food was really poor quality and way below the four stars advertised.

Disheveled tourist trap pub serving mediocre food. Check out the beer prices. Guinness is £ 6. Unbelievable. You will be sorry. Everything that’s wrong with our pubs today.

Great local pub. It was very busy when we went but the staff were excellent despite being rushed off their feet. The beers and food were all of a good standard and we really enjoyed the Tavern. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Lovely Pub/Restaurant situated on the road to Manorbier In West Wales. We have stopped here a couple of times over the years and had good experiences every time. Food was great with 2 Pizzas, a Lasagna and a Kids meal ordered. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere means we will stop here again. Good parking available here as well.

We were staying a mile or so away from this pub which looked quite nice on the outside . There is parking opposite. Sadly the inside is dire it looks and feels very much like a pub from the 1970's with dark wook tired furniture and a ghastly floral red carpet. The pub is divided into a restaurant and bar although when we arrived a large family was eating in the bar .

Was on holiday in Tenby/Wales last week from Birmingham. Couldn’t really find anywhere open as it’s a small place. Rang this place on the off chance and spoke to Jack who told us to come down. Great impression and lovely little place so re-visited for steak later in the week. The food is brilliant. Please ignore the reviews saying otherwise as it is 100% incorrect. For those who have complained about it looking “tired”. This is an old world original pub building setting and is supposed to be like this.. As for price, I think it is very fairly priced especially in today’s economy. My recommendation is to choose the rump steak 16oz with a pint of draught icebreaker!

Great pub food in the beer garden, which was a little untidy.

Omg! What a beautiful meal, my husband and I had the 16oz rump! Wow! Bloody beautiful 😍 couldn't fault it at all. Staff were unbelievable, so friendly. We were on holiday from South Wales and I'd definitely visit again. xx

Really nice pub used the Pembrokeshire coastal path to walk there from The Penally area and it was definitely worth it, really friendly staff, good prices and amazing food (we had the lasagne and the lysdtep burger) will definitely visit again with the chance! :)

Food was good but food did take an hour or more to get to us. It was busier then usual so it wasn't a big deal.

Tired, drinks expensive compared to nearby pubs. We ate there could hear the microwave working overtime.

Poor service, the bar staff were all really young and inexperienced, didn’t have a clue what they were doing. The food was awful, I have a 2 month old sandwich in my car that I would’ve preferred to eat. Don’t recommend

Seemed like a nice pub and a nice guy behind the bar untill I realised that I was charged £2.50 for the gravy to go with my chicken meal !!!! What’s that all about.

Ordered the sweet and sticky bbq pizza and have honestly never had such an awful pizza ever!!!! Crunchy cheap tasting base with undercooked very messy cheese and a bottle of bbq sauce tipped over the top!!! Absolutely awful, so bad we gave most of it to the dog!! Don't waste your money at this place as the customer service was very poor when we told them we wasn't happy with our meal, no apologies, just a bad attitude!!

Food good value, only complaint was the service, she was not organised. Everybody had food before the cuttery was brought out. Infact everyone had to ask for knife s and forks, also her hair should be tide up as it was very long and she was fiddling with it. Also no WiFi available for customers, and no mobile on ee, so WiFi is crucial. Only opens at 4, which is strange, missing the lunch ground.

Ordered Broccoli bake didnt eat it, hard, no taste. Just a dish of veg watery sauce and cheese topping.

Foods was good, Service was not good, food came, sat there waiting for knives and forks, salt and vinegar, 2 girls, both with long hair, especially the one, playing with her hair a lot and then carrying food out, from a food hygiene standard should be tied up, knives forks and sauces should be laid up before so you can eat your food rather than sitting there waiting, don't think you should have to ask for knives and forks, Toilet don't look like they been cleaned, staircase certainly not been cleaned for weeks by the looks of it,

Great little pub in Lydstep. Food was good, the peroni on tap tasted amazing. It was very quiet there today but it had not long opened.

We waited in the carpark for 10 minutes at midday, having checked their website and Facebook, both said open at midday. But no sign of anyone, no lights on, door shut. We were going to have lunch here on the way to Tenby for an early afternoon appt. Gave up and went elsewhere.

What a warm and friendly place to eat the food was cooked to perfection and a fantastic selection of drinks my children cleared all their plates and that was a first for me Would certainly recommend this place for a great family meal

We ate here on our first night in Lydstep. The food was lovely and a reasonable price. Very quick service and lovely staff. We had the takeaway pizza on our last night as well. All very good.

Booked a table for Saturday evening. Reviews were good, nice location Lovely beer garden, friendly staff. Upon arrival we were told they had no steaks or gammon as the butcher's hadn't had their order in Sat at our table inside. Huge queue at the bar. When the queue started to die down we realised people were ordering at the bar so we asked what the procedure was. We were told the waitress would take our order. Fine. Then discovered no beef burgers or BBQ pizza on top of the steaks and gammon. Ok. All finally ordered. Drinks sorted and then they came over to say no lasagne so some of the party had to choose something else This was getting a bit silly now. Reluctantly ordered something else from the very minimal menu. Considered leaving but decided to stay as we were starving. Food was fine. Standard pub grub. The half chicken and gravy was a hit. Kids loved the nuggets. Shame about the choices. A few other people left because of the lack of choice. Probably wouldn't go back in a hurry but only in case there was a repeat incident.

It was like some bizarre reality show where they get a bunch of children to run a pub, I don't mean that the staff were young I mean they were children, the lad who took our order couldn't possibly be old enough for high school although he was lovely, I think the two girls who brought our good and drinks over were about 12, there was one 18 year old behind the bar saying she was the only one old enough to pull pints, the other teenage girl who was apparently not old enough to pull pints was old enough to open bottles of cider and hand them over. The food was ok but not what was on the menu and not what I wanted. They were trying really hard bless them all but where the grown ups, it was Saturday night and heaving.

Bar staff friendly . Food was below average , had chickenand chips. chicken was dry , charged £2.50 for gravy which had no flavour , and didn't realise there was a charge for it . Beef lasange wasn't the best either . Toilets had no hand wash both empty , toilet seat missing in gents. staircarpets needed a clean and hoover . Really disappointed

Sunday lunch today, returned my beef dinner, awful. £12.95 for a place of frozen mush, absolutely shocking. Waited on and served by two children who couldn’t say what veg would be served etc. My son had half Half chicken and chips, dry enough to make you choke. Appalling food. You don’t see any locals in here just poor, unassuming holiday makers. Will definitely not be back.

Poor food. Poor value for money. Tried charging £2.40 for gravy on chicken and chips .check your bills. No salads available on menu. Toilets a disgrace paper all over floor dirty toilets and two empty soap containers. Need a good clean . Been coming here for years but will not return until they get their act together. Start with some fresh food .the only saving grace was the young staff . Girl behind the bar and boy collecting dishes were very pleasant.

Stunning meal. Two lovely lads served us one even helped my 90 year old mother down the stairs for the rest room they went beyond what was expected of them I must say thank you to Jack and Will . your a credit to the place keep up the good work

Had food here and it was nice. We had it out in the beer garden. Nice staff. Was dark in the pub and the beer wasn't pulled through properly before I drank my pint which was disgusting. He pulled some off and the pint was good. Easy mistake to make. My gammon was undercooked in the thickest part yet they took it back and cooked it more for me with no hassle. Came back better. Tasted great, chips were oven chips but were cooked almost perfectly. My wife's lasagne was really nice. Kids pizza and sausages were good too. We'd go back again. And we are fussy.

Very disappointing Sunday lunch last week. Nothing fresh, pressed beef, tinned carrots, frozen roasties and 'smash' mashed potatoes, very little portions of frozen veg £12.95. Not worth £5! Will not be returning

Went for Sunday Lunch was hoping to sit outside to eat as we had our dog with us! We were told not serving food outside only to see two tables get served with food outside!! We were given a table inside ordered the Beef Sunday Dinner when it came it was obvious the vegetables were not fresh veg and the beef was pre cooked and sliced and swamped with tasteless gravy!! Very poor food!! Have been a customer for some 30 years always had good meals and service but won’t be going again!!

They were only to happy to help you. And what a superb sunday Lunch. Awsom. If I find myself this way again I will definately stop. Thankyou.

Excellent service and lovely food

Disappointing on this occasion. Have called here multiple times over the last few years, either for an evening meal or Sunday lunch and had great food. Had Sunday lunch here last weekend and was served a substandard meal. Food was luke warm (plates cold) Beef was paper thin packet stuff with little taste. Veg not all that great and gravy gloopy. Not sure what has changed here as it used to be all fresh tasty food, homemade Yorkshire puddings and veg came on serving dishes. For the price not worth it at all unfortunately.

Had Sunday lunch here with family very disappointing. We have been here a few times over the years and was very good with great service. However this time was awful all shop packet food re heated very small potions of veg and cold plates. Poor value for money . Place also needs a good clean sticky tables ,food splatters on walls ,toilets and entrance to them disgusting carpet is black. Will not be returning.

Food dreadful service just as bad

Would not come back here again. We came for a Sunday dinner, which I can only describe as a microwave dinner. Packet beef, wrinkled veg & not quite sure what the gravy was made of, but it tasted awful. Definitely was not home cooked as stated on the board outside. Inside the place looked rather tired. On the other hand, the staff were friendly.

We ordered a pizza (margarita so nothing fancy) £13.99 and honestly it was dreadful. Dry shop bought base and bland topping. I've given this pub some credit because the beer garden is a pleasant place to sit, but I wont be returning. It was also £5 per pint!!!!

Good place for food and drinks, especially for a large group of people.

Ordered boiled potatoes, supplied with chips, ordered half a chicken whick was dry and stringy.. Lacked a bit of atmosphere, could do with background music.

Where do I start, I walked for 2 miles to get here along with my disabled partner who has a motorised scooter. I ordered food after an extremely long wait and we sat in the beer garden. It was nice and sunny when we ordered it after over an hour it began to get cold. I asked for a refund and was told that the food had already arrived outside and my partner was eating it, that was a lie. The food had miraculously appeared whilst I had gone to seek a refund. I explained that we were now cold, no doubt the food was too and we could not sit inside because of the lack of disabled access and that we had three dogs. I did not raise my voice or lose my temper, I simply requested a refund for the food we ordered that had not arrived. The young lady bartender kept going into the kitchen to ask for my refund, I could see she was stressed so I asked for a manager. No one appeared and I was told to wait until 9.30 to see one. I ordered our food at 7, I went in after 8 for a refund, then I’m expected to wait a further hour and a half to see a manager. I explained that we had a 2 mile walk back and that my partner is disabled. I’m utterly disgusted that a more senior member of staff could not be bothered to speak to me and instead let this young lady deal with my complaint. Then a local squared up to me at the bar demanding that I left, he made personal comments about us. I was threatened and intimidated and left immediately without the refund of 2 meals that we didn’t have £29.96. Seriously do not come here, I am so shocked and upset, this has had such a detrimental impact on our enjoyment of our Welsh holiday that we actually want to leave now and go home. I walked out to diffuse the situation after being threatened, never again ever.

Tonight we ate out here, family of 6 with 2 children, drinks starters and mains. In my hurried state getting all to the pub, I had forgotten my lighter. Upon asking the staff if they could spare me a light, I was told a fully functional kitchen and bar never had a light! I mean what would they do if the lighter stopped working in the kitchen, no matches and the barman tapped himself down to check if he had one in his pocket, alas I was told NO. The food was ok and we spent £104 on our food and drink. Sorry but this is absolutely awful customer service, just wanted to let smokers know how I felt Iwas treated.
