Really enjoyed our meal - great “fine dining” with creative dishes celebrating local ingredients. Service was friendly and super prompt. Only negative was that the venue lacked atmosphere and as it was already dark, we didn’t have the benefit of what would normally be a fantastic view down Saundersfoot beach.

This was our first, and unfortunately, will be our last visit. Yes, the views are lovely but the service was very poor - our main meal arrived with our starters and the thought of it then being kept warm when we sent it back until we were ready for it wasn't a great start. No apologies were offered. When we were ready, the main meal was ok, chicken and fish were cooked well but overall the dishes were a little too busy i.e., 'lets chuck everything out it' isn't always the best idea. The poor service continued throughout our stay at the table - no one asked if we were enjoying the food and we didn't receive a thank you and good night from the front desk of the restaurant or the hotel itself. If you are visiting Saundersfoot and wanting a picture postcard of the habour this is the place to be, but at £100 +, I would suggest your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Unbeatable views from terrace and food with flair! I really loved my visit to the Cliff Restaurant. The views are absolutely oustanding and I must say I found the staff were lovely and trying their best to provide a good customer service in an industry that seems to have not quite recovered from Covid and in the midst of a cost of living crisis. Yes the food isnt cheap but I wouldnt expect it to be for that location. I enjoyed my chicken dish with the hash brown accompanied by some delicious truffle fries, the chicken was perfectly cooked and good quality and the meal was presented beautifully. Nice selection of desserts too. Just for comparison, we had recently paid £12 in a local pub for one piece of dried and burnt garlic bread and a small bowl of frozen chips thrown on our table by a disinterested youth. There is a gorgeous terrace with the same spectacular views where you can have drinks and lighter snacks if you dont want a full meal. This is definitely a destination location and I cant wait to return.

The worst it has ever been! As a family we come every year to Saundersfoot for a holiday and eat at St brides as our treat. We were so disappointed this year with the food and the service. No greeting or friendly welcome. The drinks took over 45 minutes to arrive and we still didn't receive them all. We then waited even longer for our starters and nearly gave up hoping our mains would come. We decided not to even bother ordering desert after the our food being cold on arrival and not even worth eating. No one enjoyed their food, in fact most of the table left half their plate. The service was pretty much non existant, the food wasn't worth waiting for. After coming here every year, this will definitely be the last time we ever visit this restaurant again. So overpriced and very average. The menu is boring and tired. We weren't the only table waiting hours on end, the table of two next to us waited an hour just for evening tea. Save your money, time and effort and go somewhere else!

Overpriced! Totally disappointed! Having voiced my concerns with the restaurant directly prior to our visit having read the other reviews. They assured me the food and service was amazing. It really isn't I should have known it wasn't going to be good when the manager approached us as we entered with his name badge upside down. Good start but hey not a big deal. First course was cold, flavour of the scallops was non existent. Pigs cheap was tough and cold. The serving staff ignore us to the point I had to actually get up and go to the desk to get the glass of wine I'd ordered with my main course. By the time it arrived I'd almost finished. It was my wife's 40th birthday, we'd arranged a surprise platter following our main course. This was forgotten about. If you like wasting your money go here

We had a beautiful Sunday lunch yesterday. Gorgeous starter, mains and desserts. We were lucky enough to get what is in my opinion one of the best tables over looking the most magical and ever changing view, which added to the great time we had. People say it’s expensive here, but I feel it’s worth every penny for such a memorable experience. The staff are so attentive, kind and caring. Ethan did a great job looking after us. I love this place and always feel relaxation wash over me as I walk in. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

My friend and I visited for an afternoon tea . My friend is disabled in a wheelchair and paralysed form the waist down . But she can transfer form wheelchair to chair . Whilst everything was lovely the waitress who wasn’t young I’d say in her 40’s perhaps 50’s at one point asked to move her wheelchair so that it wasn’t in the way . My friend and myself thought this very rude as the wheelchair are her legs. Not good in terms of disabled awareness - priority was made for another elderly couple who could have sat at another table . Disappointing. Plus afternoon tea was overpriced .

We have over the years dined here quite often, as we have a place just opposite the hotel, but last week was the first time since covid. We were a party of 4, and had 4 starters, 4 mains, 3 deserts, 2 bottles of white wine, (the wine menu is extremely highly priced) and 2 or 3 glasses of red wine. The bill was close to £400, which is a LOT higher than the last time, plus a pre dinner round in the bar cost £50! Well OK, I know prices have gone up, but although the food was good, I didn’t consider it extra special enough to warrant the price. The staff and service were fine, and of course the view is spectacular…but I don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon!

This place took some finding. But finally found it with plenty of time to spare. Had pre dinner drinks at reception before going through for dinner. It was VERY busy,so real glad I’d booked well in advance. The food was A La carte and first class it was too. Everyone’s meals were superb, although the sauce with those who had the chicken said they didn’t like. That was the only thing. Starter to dessert was excellent. Had a great vegan afternoon tea. Views were amazing and the service was excellent. The booking process was really smooth and there were no hitches with dietary requirements, everything was as ordered which is remarkable. Only improvement would be for more interesting sandwich fillings e.g instead of just cucumber adding some ‘cheese’, instead of just ‘cheese’ adding some chutney and perhaps adding some hummus in with the beetroot. Overall a great experience!

I brought two friends here who came to visit me in Pembrokeshire. When we arrived, it wasn't clear where our table was as we weren't shown to it, so we pulled two tables set for two people together right in the window of the restaurant. I did notice though that the member of staff on duty had a "training" badge on, she was absolutely charming and got us settled in & took our tea preferences while we enjoyed the stunning views. The tea arrived shortly afterwards, in very utilitarian stainless steel teapots, all the china was also very practical as well. not really the delicate, elegant china usually associated with an afternoon tea. The tea for three was on one tea stand. The sandwiches on the bottom tier of the stand were great, tasty & fresh. There were two scones each, one plain & one fruit. While tasty & warm, if slightly biscuity around the outside, they were quite small, all six scones & jam & cream were on the smaller middle tier of the tea stand. On the top smallest tier, were all the cakes - four each, an eccles cake, chocolate brownie, a white chocolate profiterole a lemon tart. While they were all delicious, there were tiny, I found the whole experience underwhelming. There wasn't one thing that sprang out as being awful, but all the little things add up, it didn't make for a memorable experience. There are other establishments in the area that offer better value or a more sophisticated experience for the same price. I don't think I'd come again for afternoon tea.

We have visited this establishment for several years and have been made to feel at home and relaxed every time. We appreciate that you pay extra for such a fabulous 5 star hotel, but definitely not on this occasion. We decided to go there for lunch on a Saturday a few weeks ago and were looking forward to the visit as we had not been there since 2019.We were surprised that the place was so quiet, not many people eating lunch or afternoon tea. (This was a sunny Saturday in July). We were escorted to our table in the restaurant and served promptly. We were astonished by the prices for lunch. I ordered a Ceaser salad and my partner had a beefburger and we ordered two soft drinks.Following our mediocre meals we asked if we could take our drinks in to the lounge and said that we would settle our bill at the bar as we might have a coffee. This is what we have always done in the past during our many visits. Was informed by the waitress that we could pay by the table but she did not return with the bill or payment machine. We decided to take our drinks to the lounge where the seating is far more comfortable and we thought that we would order a coffee. We sat in the lounge area finishing our drinks and chatting for about a quarter of an hour and the, what we presumed to be, the restaurant manager presented us with our bill at the table! No one asked us if we wanted another drink or coffee. Did the waiting staff believe that we would 'do a runner '.We decided not to make a fuss or complain, settled our bill (which was nearly £60 and included a 10% service charge) and left feeling extremely underwhelmed.Needless to say we will not be returning, which is such a shame.Too expensive and certainly not value for money.

My friends had afternoon tea and I had chicken and chips along with one other friend. We were given no cutlery and were not offered and condiments. After waiting and waiting and asking a waitress for cutlery we still were not given any so then I had to ask a gentleman who got it straight away however by that time my food was cold. My friend who had afternoon tea wasn’t given her tea until she was half way through the food and further drinks we ordered took ages to come. Having enjoyed a stay in hotel earlier this year (and leaving a glowing tripadvisor review) I then had cause to complain after a bad lunch experience. I complained direct to venue thinking it was a one off and not wanting to give a bad review here. Gave them a second chance today and nothing has improved. We were a party of 8, they insisted on an £10 a head deposit on booking (even for children). Said they could only do 12.30 or 3pm. Got there and restaurant was deserted, we were shown to a table and ignored for 20mins. We then asked to move to other part (gallery?) as there ware actual people there. We were allowed to move but no one assisted us. Finally gave food and drink order. Lunch menu is weird, staters all £9+ mains are mostly sandwiches or fish and chips, burger and a couple of other uninspiring overpriced options. I had halloumi to start, £9 for one slice on some mashed tasteless lentils. Fish soup starter was watery and insipid. For main I had mussels (a starter) and chips. Mussels were cold and they forgot the chips. The fish cake was burnt, the quinoa salad (£15) was tiny and my guest forced it down. We decided against dessert, asked for bill, deposit had not been removed!

When I made the reservation, I requested a table by the window but was told that they could request it but not guarantee it. On arrival, we were shown to a table, not by the window, even though there were still a few tables left by the window but I got the impression that as we were not staying at the hotel, that request was not met. However, the food was very good, if a little expensive. Unfortunately the same could not be said about the service. The waiting staff were extremely slow and the restaurant was not overly busy that evening. We finally left over 3 1/4 hours later! The menu was limited but choices made but only to be told there was no lamb. The restaurant was relatively quiet and it was a Friday night so had presumed the whole menu would have been available. The food was ok but nothing compared with the likes of The Mulberry and certainly no atmosphere and it felt quite sterile. Nevertheless, we ordered dessert, albeit the chocolate fondant was not available, we then felt most unwelcome when the staff commenced placement settings for breakfast! We were the only table left and ended up sat amongst all the other tables with the jams and teapots. This was not conducive to finishing our meal with our cheese and biscuits and so we did not order further drinks and left. Such a shame.

There are two examples that spring to mind I) the mussels always used to be served in a stainless steel bowl and lid, now they are just served in a china bowl with the previous “wow” factor lost and II) the sandwiches used to be served as a round and a half, now its just a round ( although the cost remains the same) - again the “ wow” factor has been lost. We used to enjoy calling in for lunch and used to leave feeling that we had been served something special. Since the new menu has been launched we have left feeling rather disappointed. We will probably call in for a just a drink in the future and give lunch a miss- and I just hope the new menu is not the start of a cost cutting initiative ! A final point- when we were served our pitiful sandwiches the group of 8 on the next table were vocally complaining about their sandwiches being reduced from a round and a half to just a round - incredibally i overheard the manager who was called to their table that “ it has been done to reduce food waste”, although if this is the true reason you would expect to see a price reduction, which is not what has happened!

we went here for an anniversary meal. Staff were very attentive , although there were a couple who were training , so they didn't get it completely right but not through lack of effort . The food was good , although I would have preferred the menu prices to include the vegetables and potatoes . The bought us a nice anniversary platter which was lovely petit fours . All in all a good experience

I live in the area. The meal I had (chicken with mash and broccoli) was below what I would expect for £19.00. The meal was mediocre not in the least special.. I had to get fish and chips on the way home as I was so hungry. Go to other restaurants in Saundersfoot, there are some really good value for money places to eat. The only good thing about this hotel is the view.

Beautiful setting and view, just a shame our meal experience didn't match. We'd booked for Easter Sunday but unfortunately for us, our waitress "Sarah" clearly didn't feel the joys of spring! We are a very mannerly, respectful and grateful family but Sarah made us feel we had to work harder to make her happy!

I had lunch here following a visit to the spa, no complaints. Price reflects the lovely setting and the food is also delicious. As I visited last year I will write a more in depth detail when I visit again, especially now the refurbishment is...

Visited to celebrate my mother's 80th, the view was a reminder of family holidays when we were children. At that time the hotel was not what it has now become (this was the '70's!!).

Brilliant set menu that included a vegetarian one for the wife. They even altered a sharing platter for me.

Wanting to arrange 25 yr Anniversary meal for my parents with a bespoke menu to include names of family members to personalise their meal experience. The staff at the Cliff restaurant (big thanks to Clare!) were so accommodating and the meal was a great success. Big thank you again for helping me make memories that will never be forgotten

Definitely worth a visit here for lunch or dinner with a view. They have an extensive food and wine menu and the quality is excellent. The crab and the Steak are personal recommendations. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and then dinner on Saturday with good service

The Cliff had been recommended by the Michelin Guide which convinced me that we had to try it - in stead of other, really good looking small restaurants in Saundersfoot. With very high expectations we walked up the steep hill to St. Brides Hotel, where the restaurant is based, and were stunned by the view - but disappointed by the interior. That is very standard, very international, rather boring and simple. No cosy atmosphere that can match the view.

We had lovely food.fish was very good and love the local produce. However the service was slow and we had to chase up our wine and the right vegetables which put a bit of a dampener on the evening

We dined here one evening for a change from seaside food. The menu was varied although some options were very pricey. The food was excellent, however, and the staff were extremely helpful in checking for potential allergens.

Wonderful views from restaurant across the beach. The staff were absolutely lovely, very helpful and efficient. So very pleased re the service, greeting and welcome we received on arrival, and the restaurant was very busy. So full marks on that side of things. There were negatives and positives with the meal. The negative was that my main course fish which was overlooked. The manageress was so kind and offered to have a new piece cooked, but sadly it was very much like the first time. She did not charge for that plate, but I would have rather had a perfectly cooked piece of fish and paid for it. Such a shame as it was purely down to the chef. She did everything she could to put it right. The positive was my starter of scallops and crab was delicious. Plus my husband enjoyed his lobster. So I'm not saying don't eat here I'm just saying on the night my main course wasn't good.

This was a family visit for an evening meal on Sunday. Booked a table with a view as not all of them have views over the bay. The restaurant is light, bright and airy.Excellent menu selection. Some members of our party had the duck starter and others the mackerel - delicious. For the main course some had the fillet beef, some the lamb - excellent. Dessert options for us included the poached pear and the sticky toffee pudding - again we all thoroughly enjoyed both the excellent taste and presentation of the meals. We also had the cheese and biscuits. They can cater for vegan, vegetarian, gluten and dairy free diets. One thing that we did find lacking was advice on the choice of wines ........ they have an extensive wine list and we needed advice from the sommelier. The prices were expensive but when you consider the whole package on offer - the quality of the food served, the excellent service and the amazing views we think it is worth it for a special treat.

A good restaurant with local produce, very effiecient and friendly staff. Not the cheapest but the view for a romantic dinner is worth it! Mid week is probably better for thr romantics as children at the weekend (depending on parents and behaviour) can be a little distracting

We ate here on the first night of a 3 night break at the hotel. We had pre-booked for 7pm and the restaurant wasn't busy. Their only seemed to be one waiter on duty and he apologised straight away for the wait to take our order, and repeatedly throughout the meal. However the food was good and the view from our window table was great so made for a relaxing evening

We ate here while staying in the hotel. The restaurant and views are wonderful but the menu is over complicated and the service slow and regimented. Some of the young wait staff seemed so terrified of making a mistake it led to an unnecessarily tense atmosphere. Lighten up the vibe, staff and menu and it would be much better. We both had a lamb dish (being in Wales) which was poor. The meat was dry and the sauce in short supply. Not the best experience

Went for lunch at this venue yesterday. Don't order the garlic mushroom starter as it's a rip off. Got one puny slice of bread with what would probably equate to about two button mushrooms and creamy sauce, although it tasted great, come on £7.95 for this. Previously had more value for money with the previous owners. The small plate ham & egg was very good though and the service off Gleisny was good as always.

Didn’t disappoint. Lovely meals all served with humongous Yorkshire puds! Lashings of gravy and the cheesy leek dish was the best!
