First time our family has eaten here and we were all impressed. The parking is free if you are dining or staying within the hotel, let reception know and you can check your car registration in. Food and service The service from Charlie was excellent and the food from start to finish was extremely tasty.

Popped in on our way to loch Lomond, so glad we did. We had the sandwich and cakes with the quality coffee. The service is very professional, the young blonde girl and the Liverpool lady are l credit to the cafe, very clean and a wonderful choice of food and drink. It would be good if they did a soup and a sandwich deal and possibly a few other deals. That said, it's a five star cafe with five star staff .

Stopped by here for lunch. Had the steak pie and a burger with haggis. Both plates were cleared. The steak is from a local butcher and just melted in the mouth alongside a delicious pastry. The chips were top tier. The burger was delicious with just enough of everything. A lovely wee find and great, friendly service and good value.

I love supporting local businesses but the last few times I've visited have been very disappointing. Very overpriced (£5.05 for a hot chocolate with cream) especially as the quality is not of a high standard. Everything is underwhelming. I contacted the owners about price versus quality but heard nothing back so I am posting here instead.

The Potting Shed bistro is a hidden gem. We have been several times over the past couple of years and lunch here makes a lovely day out from our home in Edinburgh. The food is really good and we've always found the service friendly and efficient. It has a quirky, rustic setting which adds to the atmosphere. The menu includes sandwiches and cakes or options for a full lunch. They even tweaked the menu for me. I would definitely recommend for informal eating.

Delighted to have an excellent light lunch here. Very warm welcome and all the staff so helpful. Service was fast and the food delicious, warmed ciabatta sandwiches followed by tasty carrot cake and very good decaffeinated coffee. So pleased to see this reopened under new management who really are doing a wonderful job. Wishing the team all the best for the 2025 season.

Enjoyed a fabulous night at No. 5 Inn, Alva. We were a party of over 50 in number, and every single person had a super meal. That takes some organisation to have everyone served with hot, home cooked food at same time! Food was great value, excellent portions and freshly cooked. Lovely, friendly service too. Altogether excellent!

Our first visit and regrettably our last. The menu at 1 pm on reflection and reading a previous review was a breakfast menu. Service was very slow given how quiet the restaurant was at this time of day. Two of our party ordered Cullen skink - far from the hearty smoked haddock dish this should be, consisted of a soup bowl barely half filled with few small pieces of potato in a grey watery soup with no obvious haddock with slice of bread halved on top. The cheeseboard platter arrived with two cocktail sized oatcakes, a few pieces of cheese, teaspoon size honey comb and small bowl of piccalilli. Although the sourdough rolls were fresh enough, the sausages were on a bed of tasteless sliced tomato, no butter, side of salad or crisps as accompaniment. Very poor quality food and vastly overpriced.

We stayed at Kilmartin Hotel for one night whilst cycling the Caledonian Way on our tandem. The staff were lovely, the room was spotless and the food was excellent.... probably the best evening meal of our whole trip. We liked the fact that the decor is somewhat idiosyncratic and has obviously evolved over the years, rather than having been subjected to a corporate makeover. We will be very happy to stay again.

Sunny Saturday afternoon - dog walk on Carsaig beach. Went to the coffee shop for a coffee - once in we fancied a bacon roll - can't go wrong - right?. To be fair there were a number of customers ordering toasties etc. They did say "we are very busy and it might take a while" What does that mean?" "ten minutes probably" Well sitting in the sunshine and looking out over the boats coming and going is no hardship. After half an hour we got a bit impatient and were assured that they are just almost there! So, after 40 minutes we were delivered two dry rolls with crispy bacon which falls apart under pressure. Dry as a bone inside and greasy outside? That's quite a trick! My labrador enjoyed it anyway. Why are we so hopeless at hospitality in Scotland?

Outstanding dinner in historic coaching inn. We had the fried brie and duck breast appetizers. I had the venison casserole which was one of the best dishes I've had in Scotland. If staying at the inn, make a reservation at the restaurant. Highly recommended.

We came to Jura Isle to take a self driving tour of the isle with a visit to Corran Sands. Our family migrated from Jura Isle to the United States leaving from Corran Sands. Beautiful beach for finding little shells, wandering in the water and just sitting and pondering.
