We discovered this fabulous place this morning, we stopped for breakfast and we are so glad we did. From stepping into the deli shop to having breakfast in the Thyme bistro we had the most wonderful experience. A lovely gentleman (Peter) took our order and from start to finish he was extremely friendly warm and welcoming,he is an absolute credit to this establishment . We purchased a few items from the deli and the lady serving was also super. Walking round outside watching the geese, peacocks and hens all going about their daily business was very amusing and highlights how special this place is. Absolutely super find today, and will definitely return next time we are in the area.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant. The food was very good, as were the staff, and a highly atmpospheric venue. A short drive out of Aberfeldy, uphill to a stunning outlook; it was worth the trip for this alone, but everything else we would rate as very good.

We have heard a few good things about this place and we booked a table for Sunday Lunch and after driving from Dunfermline, we were not disappointed. Food was delicious and a great Sunday treat with a glass of fizz thrown in too! The staff were so friendly and helpful and the shop has a great choice of deli foods, cheeses etc too. You can feed the ducks outside and the whole place is just a peaceful wee hideaway with beautiful views too! Will certainly be back.

Who knew a freezer meal could be so tasty!! How do you do it?! Sometimes I just want to relax and have an easy dinner without cooking, but takeaway is normally not very healthy and microwave meals are not only stored in plastic, but they also aren’t very flavourful or good for you, so when I saw the Errichel freezer meals I thought I would give them a try and wow! Stored in cardboard freezer containers you don’t get the nasty chemical taste when you heat up (unlike the plastic containers) and the meals were absolutely delicious! It felt like I’d brought the restaurant quality I enjoy so much home! The meals were full of flavour and you could clearly taste the high quality of the ingredients, it felt like a real treat rather than a quick meal! Each container contains enough for two people (along side a side like rice, potatoes etc) so very good value for money for the quality meals you get. Of course we will still be enjoying our trips to Thyme Bistro but when we need a quick easy meal at home, instead of takeaways at the weekend, we will absolutely be saving money and eating better with more Errichel freezer meals!

If a meal part way between breakfast and lunch is called brunch what is a late lunch early dinner called? Answer is “linner” apparently!!Well linner is what we had at Thyme, thanks to our Nicola’s new CoVid containment measures, which meant we had to be out by 6pm; it was great!I had the most amazing fish platter and the venison tagine was declared excellent too.If this was a lunch then I would love to return for dinner!Lovely deli attached and the host Rebecca, for whom the whole restaurant, deli and accommodation combo is part of a family business, was also lovely. We LOVED our frozen ready meals, as did the friends we took them to on the west coast. It made life so much simpler and it was so exciting to feel like we were eating out when we were eating in! The oriental dishes were utterly delicious. I thought they looked quite small when I picked them up only to find that we were all full to bursting at the end of our meal :). Perfect. We are looking forward to raiding the freezer in the deli more regularly when the deli opens!

A group of us dined here for the 3-course-set meal at in a round, stone walled room with many windows and a soaring cylindrical ceiling. This is a field to fork resto dramatically (and appropriately) set on a farm just outside of Aberfeldy in a field of white horses. (No! Horses are not on the menu, thank goodness!) The chef is a member of the Slow Food Chefs' Alliance and changes his menu weekly to best feature local and regional produce; he raises black pigs, chickens and ducks, Shetland sheep and cattle, and uses sustainably caught fish and game. Then he transforms the homegrown ingredients with flavours and influences from around the world to fashion Scottish fusion fare. Starters were beetroot cured salmon (almost too pretty to eat); pigeon; and a British take on an Eastern Mediterranean meza. For the main, I had black pork in an Asian curry (too much to eat!); others had cod encrusted with oatmeal and rose petals, and a Turkish-inspired lamb dish. All were proclaimed to be wonderful. The winning dessert was the “mess” - a deconstructed pavlova of broken meringue, berries and whipped double cream. The creativity and freshness of the food, picturesque presentation, well-curated wine list and lovely setting inside and out, makes this a very special place.

The food here is indescribably delicious. The salmon and crab starter was exquisite. Actually everything we both had was perfection. What was less than perfection was the service once the meal commenced. I had to ask twice for a glass of port after dinner. The staff was fussing over later diners and seemed like we, the early diners, were forgotten once the meal served. Despite this lack of attention I would return as the meal was that good. Superb and memorable.

Family dinner. Beautiful views from the car park. Set menu (3 options per course), 3 courses for £39. The food was good, better than a standard restaurant and the menu gave plenty options. Accommodated gluten free & lactose free dietary requirements. Reasonable service level, good wine/drinks menu. £7 supplement for a buffalo steak, it was good but no better than a decent beef rib eye steak. I was slightly disappointed with the food and the ambiance.

As others will testify, do not take your low slung sports car here, the drive is what it is a bit agricultural, but this is because the farm at Errichel is where a lot of the meaty ingredients are from. So that warning out of the way, what a lovely set of folk there are here, The menu was well presented and (accompanied by a beautifull bitter Old Fashioned) where there were ingredients we did not recognise they were explained not only in what they were, but why they were a part of the recipe. My partner normally an avowed carnivore went for the beetroot carpaccio, followed by the roast pepper spring roll, both tasty and more filling than they sound I chose the wold bird terrine and pork loin steak which were just lovely. These were accompanied by a smashing white altano from the duoro. For pud a wonderful cheese selection for me and what was described as a magnificent pineapple baked cheesecake, it must have been good as I was not offered a sample " NO, it's mine!" says it all. All up for just over £50 head. this place was still quite quiet, it deserves to be much busier.

Everything about the wood and decor of the restaurant was outstanding unfortunately the meal was not. The two starters of game terrine and one of salmon were nice but the main courses of lamb for two and haddock for one was very disappointing! Again the desserts which were Creme Brûlée was nice. One bottle of wine, tap water and two tonics came to £50 per head was too much for the quality and that is from someone used to Edinburgh prices!!

Fresh interesting ingredients, nearly all from his farm, beautifully presented and served by attentive and knowledgeable staff (take a bow Stuart). Fantastic wine list with some great choices available by the glass. If you want excellent cooking from ingredients sourced from the restaurant's own farm served in a beautiful dining room with gorgeous views then head straight to Thyme. Chef Patron Paul Newman has created something very special and his approach to the menu and wine list is commendably original. It is a set price menu at £39 for 3 courses which is remarkable value for money. The wine list has some really different wines, many by the glass - even from Macedonia. Who knew? Service was very attentive and informative and the cocktail beforehand served in their "library" was a typical "it shouldn't work but it does" Thyme offering. We first came here six years ago when the restaurant was being built and it is fantastic to see it all completed now to a very high standard. Well done to Paul and his team to finally create something that has been missing from Perthshire for a very long time. My only very small niggle, and it's a personal bugbear, was the background music. A bit too loud and not the ideal play list for that setting.

I was staying with a friend of long standing. As usual I was staying for three nights Having eaten in and dined locally going Dutch within walking distance, I insisted that the final night would be on me. Her friend had spoken very highly of this establishment so we booked. It is not far from Aberfeldy, but it is a car drive away. We parked - the views were stunning from the car park. We were just pipped into the restaurant by a party of 10 continentals. Were they vocal! The dining room was modern and very pleasant. My guest skipped the starter while I went for the smoked salmon with beetroot. It was fine, but nothing special. By this time the staff realised that we were finding the loud guests a 'little much' and suggested we move to a table with superb views over the countryside. This was very thoughtful and much appreciated. We both chose venison for the main course. We were both disappointed. It was dry, there was no jus or sauce and while we were told it would be medium rare, to me it was medium. The vegetables were uninspiring. Overall the main course was disappointing. The desserts did not impress, so we called it a night, but did walk through the gardens to stretch our legs.

From the pre-prandial cocktails through to the local malt whiskys everything was perfect - the food was innovative ,beautifully cooked and presented and very tasty, and the service from Derry and Fiona was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We came to Thyme for our last night's stay in Aberfeldy due to rave reviews on TA. Booking in advance recommended for busy weekend nights as the restaurant is on the small side. Firstly offered a drink in the lounge, which was nice and also a very interesting room to sit in. The nice lady told us that all the books belonged to the people who own the farm, I think, which was really interesting. Ordered our meal from the lounge and was asked to go through before starters. Starters were delicious! This was followed by a palette cleanser and then mains, which were very tasty with nice presentation. The desserts were a lovely way to top off the meal. We had about 4 drinks and with the meal it cost £101 altogether which isn't expensive at all for a lovely 3 course meal.Service is great, food super and the views both inside and outside are lovely. Simply faultless. From the booking to the warm reception, followed by a unique menu with every dish cooked to perfection and presented to the highest standards. Service friendly, professional and attentive. The dining room is calm and beautifully decorated. Good to have the chef come out to chat to guests.I have high standards and this venue met and in fact exceeded them on every level.Highly recommended and looking forward to going again.

My husband had heard good reviews about Thyme at Errichel and from their website and other tripadvisor reviews we were keen to try it out. So we arranged a weekend in January with two of our friends for an overnight stay including an evening meal. The price of the room and meal was very reasonable. We arrived quite late in the evening so didn't get a chance to explore the surroundings. The room was nice, bed comfortable etc. However there was no dressing table in the room we were in so being heavily pregnant at the time meant I had to sit on the floor to get ready - far from ideal and not what you would expect from a place of this quality. The rooms were well kitted out with TV coffee machine etc but the small details were lacking for example my friends bin hadn't been emptied from the previous customers and when they went to ask for a bottle of tap water were told they could drink it from upstairs (in tiny glasses). We went down for dinner and the menu was instantly forgettable. A small menu is fine but there were two very similar salmon dishes for starter and main that I think is wrong for a menu so small. The food was not to my taste the salmon main dish I had was cured in beetroot then baked which gave it an awful slimy texture. The service was unattentive. After the meal we were having drinks when we asked of 10am was the latest checkout. We were told yes but that the woman would ask the person who was on in the morning if we could leave at 10 30 to which they agreed. I understand there may be a tight turnaround of rooms which is far enough. We went to bed and got up the next day for breakfast which I have to say was outstanding. The quality etc was great. It was nearing 10am and we were sitting chatting when the waitress curtly said to us 'check out is 10am' after that we left. Again not what you would expect from somewhere of this quality. I really wanted to fall in love with this place but for me they need to up their game I'm terms of customer service - we left feeling like we were a nuisance and that's not something I'm sure any business wants their customers to feel like.

We were lucky enough to stay here at New Year and ate in the restaurant the three consecutive nights of our stay. Each evening started off with a cocktail in the lounge. The food is not your usual fare, and it's clear that the chef has vast experience. The Wine Flight allowed a choice of wines to suit the different courses. Fiona and her team are knowledgeable and help you make good choices. Coffee in the lounge afterwards gives the feeling you are visiting friends. Great experience all round.

Lovely meal at Thyme restaurant. We went on Saturday night having booked a couple of days in advance. Welcomed on arrival and invited to sit in the cosy lounge to peruse the menus. Restaurant was bright and modern but with character, overlooking the fountain which was lit at night. Food delicious. Portion size adequate for 2 course. 2 courses cost £31. Scallop and prawn, carpaccio, trio of fish and turkey roulade. Wine flight good value at £12 for 3 wines to sample a few different types during the meal. Catered well for gluten free dietary requirements. Would recommend and hope to go back if nearby.

Set on the outskirts of Aberfeldy this restaurant is in a tucked away location but certainly well worth a visit. The welcome is friendly with guests shown to a delightful lounge for pre-dinner drinks/cocktails and to browse the menu. The restaurant is unique in its style with a roundhouse design offering an abundance of light with candlelight for intimate evening dining. The food enjoyed by our party included a delicious starter of gin and whisky smoked salmon and we shared a beef tagine which was delicately fragrant and melt in the mouth. The restaurant sources all food locally and there is a wonderful explanation in the menu detailing these sources. A truly magical experience and one we will wish to repeat.

We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in this restaurant at the beginning of October 2016. The menu is extensive and varied. The salmon starter was exceptional as was the buffalo. Breakfast was even better with lots of choice. Opting for the cooked breakfast it was perfectly cooked and the pork used in the sausages comes from their own rare breed pigs on the grounds. Fantastic service and all the food was exceptional. We will be back :) !

We ate at Thyme last night on two recommendations. Slighty late due to dark, wet night and no lit sign at gate but was assured this was next on the to do list. Lovely staff and nothing too much trouble. Beautiful setting and dining room with relaxing library for coffee. Wonderful smoked salmon infused with beetroot and whisky and decorated with very tasty marinaded cucumber. Mains and deserts were of the same high calibre. Menu changes every week. Special diets are dealt with without fuss. If we didnt have friends in Aberfeldy would certainly stay here - b & b or self catering. Only 5 minutes drive out of the town centre.

A faultless night in every way. Booking efficient, the venue is beautifully decorated and the views are worth the trip a little out of town. Food was modest in choice but everything was cooked to perfection and really well presented. The staff were professional and informal and the price remarkably cheap for such a great dinning experience. I can't wait to go back.

My husband and I had dinner here. We've been before and wanted to go again, and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is elegantly furnished to a very high standard, with stunning views (if you visit in daylight!), and the food is delicious. The menu isn't extensive, but there is plenty of choice, and the service is friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Thyme at Errichel for anyone who wants a special evening in fabulous surroundings. (Beware - it's not open every night, so you will need to check). We will go again!

Fiona and the team were kind enough to host the 'cocktail afternoon tea party' for my friend Sarah's hen do earlier this month. We couldn't have asked for more; immaculate restaurant, fabulous food & drink, beautiful view, excellent service. Fiona handled some last minute changes perfectly & was very flexible to our decoration needs! All of the girls (33 in total!) personally told us bridesmaids how much they loved it & how fabulous & personal the whole experience was. Really can't thank the team enough for all your help, wishing you every success in the future.Andrea

Wonderful setting, both scenically and internally. Great use of stone, wood and glass has created a wonderful ambiance for a restaurant. Lovely tables, kitchenware and artefacts complement the restaurant. Welcoming and knowledgeable local staff add to the dining experience. Interesting Menu, with a touch of Middle Eastern influence on the evening we visited. There is a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. All the food was well prepared, sourced locally, where possible and excellently cooked and presented. Extremely well stocked bar, with wide selection of whisky's and gin's, to name just two types of liquor. A well chosen wine list complements the food. It is obvious that the owner/chef has an eye for detail, both in his food and throughout his entire establishment. His combination of flavours and use of local meat and produce is exemplary and indicates a talent gleaned from working in many fine restaurants, before settling in Errichel.

We approached Errichel in January this year from our wedding. From the start both Fiona and Paul were absolutely brilliant. We were given free rein to chose what we wanted for our wedding meal. We were given ideas from the normal restaurant menus. We selected a number of items with a request for a Tarte Normande in memory of my mum.In addition they used products from my good friends Tom and Stevie Mitchell of Puddledub Pork and Buffalo respectively. The whole wedding - ceremony and meal - was absolutely superb. One of the guests, who can be quite particular, finished his own Puddledub buffalo steak and half his wife's! Combined with the on-line accommodation and glorious weather we had an unforgettable weekend. We shall certainly be returning for further meals and stays. Thanks again Fiona and Paul

Errichel is a great bed and breakfast. Thyme (their restaurant) makes it exceptional. Very high class, imaginative cuisine, served in a very interesting and cozy place, with excellent serice. Had the pork chop and the cod - that doesn't begin to describe these dishes. You will just have to go and try them (or others). You will be impressed.

Excellent choice of dishes on the menu, my husband likes to make a safe choice (steak) and I like to try something a little different (bouillabaisse). Everyone is pretty much catered for. Every dish/course we ordered was excellent. Fiona at the front of house is very attentive and knows all the dishes well and can make good recommendations on wine and their large stock of whiskes. Paul the chef came to chat with us at the end of the evening, asking us how we enjoyed our food etc. I would definitely recommend a visit to Thyme at Errichel whether it be for a special occasion or other.

Four of us visited for a special birthday and we had a wonderful evening. The decor is beautiful and restful. The view over the hills is spectacular. We started with cocktails - delicious, particularly the martini. The food was exceptional, the flavours sang and the presentation was simple and elegant. The menu was reassuringly short. Each of the other elements of the evening - service, wine list, bread, table presentation, etc etc - was well executed and carefully thought out. It is such a treat to have a restaurant of this calibre in Aberfeldy. Not to be missed.

I took my daughter to Errichel for a treat at the weekend and we had a really lovely evening. The warm welcome and the excellent service we received were a worthy match for the delicious meal. There is a very special atmosphere at Errichel, an easy friendliness that is relaxing and welcoming and you know that you are going to enjoy yourself as soon as you walk in through the front door and settle down in the cosy lounge with a pre dinner drink and the menu.Paul's cooking style displays skills and experiences from his international culinary career but he also has an instinctive feel for locally produced and sourced food, much of which comes from the farm at Errichel itself. There is a wonderful celebration of Scottish food combined with clever fusion touches. We had the salmon to start and followed this with a tender venison casserole, ending with a wonderful creme brulee. There is no restaurant around Aberfeldy quite the same as Errichel. It is a quality experience all round - go and spoil yourselves, you won't be disappointed

The location, the restaurant, the staff and the food are all excellent. My partner and I had a truly wonderful Sunday lunch and each dish (cheese souffle, John Dory and blueberry pana cotta) worthy of 10 out of 10. scores. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.
