Struggling to get used to the new opening hours arrived too late to sit in. Had hoped to sit in but staff cleaning up. Asked for food to go from menu but could not even get a sandwich. Server went off to do more chores. I spotted made up blister pack sandwiches, one of the other staff shouted to my serverwho came back, had forgotton about counter sandwiches. Managed to get a chicken tikka sandwich and a tuna mayo sandwich plus a muffin and a trybake. The sandwiches were very fresh and appetising and the home baking was delicious. A very good selection to choose from I was very satisfied and would choose the same in that situation again. Would reccomend to anyone and will still come back.

I came here because I had seen in reviews that they had Live Football. Unfortunately they do not have Champions League games, I had come hoping to watch a semi final but they don’t have it. I would have been happy enough to have a couple of pints and keep track of what’s happening in the game on my mobile phone but I didn’t even get enough signal in there to send a text message. I asked if they had Wi-Fi but they do not. Even most small cafes now have wi-fi, especially in a place where mobiles don’t work. Walked up to the Wetherspoon so at least I can get the football scores.

Update 28th April 2023. Ive just eaten what was one of the worst fish suppers ever. Dripping in fat to the point i now need to get a bottle of coca cola to break the fat down. 12.50 for a large fish supper! Only thing large was the amount of chips. The fish looked as though it was anorexic. I will never be back. Shame as it once was really good but alas times have changed and the quality is no longer there.

We booked this afternoon tea as a treat whilst away for a few days in Edinburgh but can honestly say it is the worst customer service we have received anywhere. To start, we were kept waiting for 20 minutes, after being seated, before anyone came to speak to us and the room was freezing cold. Food was reasonably nice but when asking for another pot of tea, which we had been advised was included in the extortionate price of the afternoon tea, they simply topped up the existing tea bag with hot water. When we asked for a new tea bag you would have thought we had asked for the world! Everything seemed to be too much trouble and made us feel as though we were making a fuss. There was a teaspoon of jam provided to accompany two scones and when we politely requested more jam we were told this was not possible as it had all been measured out according to the bookings for the day....unbelievable! A little more thought and consideration about the customer experience would have made all the difference but sadly we would not recommend this afternoon tea at all, you would do better in the regular cafe with a sandwich, piece of cake and cup of tea.

We visited over the Easter weekend as a large family group, the staff were welcoming and couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. We had a great evening and would highly recommend a visit

Do not order a panini, overpriced for a small filling of chicken, handful of crisps over £9 won't be going back there again, I should have refused looking back.....also sent from one counter to another for different items

Had an excellent lunch with friends. Steak and chips and others had fish and chips. Service was pleasant and friendly. Only comment was that the restaurant was chilly. It was a Monday and the restaurant was quiet but a few degrees warmer would have been more pleasant.

The "red" headed barman This guy is potentially the most ignorant of all the Jocks I've ever met. Ignorant, arrogant and just down right rude, the epitome of small village and small minded, get yourself out a little, go visit the world. If you want ignoring at the bar just let him hear your English accent, if you want food good luck with that he won't put the order through. The man should not be working there end of story. I guess the fact that England were stuffing Scotland in the football didnt help but that should not affect the weeman. Edited to suit todays hurty work folk and Tripadvisors leftie approach on life.

Lovely Sunday lunch in newly refurbished restaurant. Food and presentation was excellent, more than a little effort had been put in and sweets sumptuous. Staff very pleasant and efficient. An enjoyable experience. Hotel set in the lovely Clydeside.

Came here for dinner a few weeks ago and had the most horrific experience of my life. I ordered a chicken ceaser, and when it came over to my table it had salad on it. Personally I don’t believe in putting earthly things into our bodies, and this REALLY threw me over the edge. I went home crying, should be more specific on the menu that this has worm chow on it. When I asked one of the workers to change this for me they tried to charge me double, all I wanted was chicken with a twist of ancient Rome to it. Staff were unexperienced and uncultured, by not meeting my needs. Do not recommend at all, I cried into my pillow all night after this happened. Sorry Pettycur Bay, your customers are not mind readers and can’t tell what is on the dish if you do not specify!!!!!🤬🤬

Very friendly and attentive staff. Nice, quiet atmosphere, lovely piano music creating a nice ambiance. Ate here last night, the food was decent - I had the mussels to start which were lovely (but unfortunately the toast was burnt), and the steak for mains - chips were lovely and triple cooked! My husband had the haggis bites and the fish for mains. We shared a bottle of malbec which was delicious. This place is obviously in a state of growth, and we hope it continues to succeed because it will make a really great local staple.

I am not a moaner by nature, always looking for the positive. Staff were great and welcoming, as were the surroundings and ambience. Limited menu, in my eyes is a good thing as you expect quality to be focussed. However, after two courses came away hungry- I am not a big chap, 5’ 9” 12 stone, normal appetite. My posh prawn cocktail was great, the crispy skin chicken wings, not crispy. Your local chippy would be embarrassed to serve you the smallest piece of haddock I have ever seen, I mean come on Apex, where is your quality control, don’t you want repeat clients? Coffee, what is so difficult about having a hot cup of coffee? I returned it, as it was luke warm, the replacement was also luke warm, why doesn’t anybody warm the cup, I like to enjoy my coffee at leisure, not gulp it down before it freezes over. The waitress kindly discounted the cost, I spend a lot of time in Edinburgh and I have to say, I have a far better dining experience there. Come on Apex, put some effort in and put Dundee on the map. Oh, did I mention £9.50 for a glass of house wine? I never tip when being ripped off by wine cost. Lets get real shall we?
