Traquair Arms Hotel in Scottish Borders

Had an evening meal with friends and kids. All of us thought the food was fantastic. Interesting menu choices as well as more traditional dishes (fish and chips etc). Really well cooked, tasty, portion sizes good and friendly service. Would definitely return!

Had a lovely meal and drink here with a pal after a days mountain biking. I had a large fish and chips and it was literally massive! Great food and large portions. Perfect.

Overnight stay with an excellent evening meal, followed by a fabulous breakfast. A group of 12 and nothing was a problem. Rooms were clean & comfortable, reasonable rates too. Would visit again as the food was excellent & good value

Wow was this establishment busy when I arrived! I couldn't believe it. There is no higher recommendation of a restaurant than how difficult it is to get a table! Staff very friendly, attentive and professional. Food was good although I felt my starter was overpriced. Vegan Burger was superb! It was a beautiful evening so I sat outside - the sitting areas are great sunspots! I enjoyed my first visit and actually came back a week later as I had such a good experience first time round.

Went with family for Sunday lunch, usual menu available and the roast of the day was beef, I had the chicken and leek pie with mash, would recommend, my wife and sister had the roast beef and yorkshire pudding with the usual trimmings, there was so much beef on the plate that unfortunately I had to have some! I've never had such thick slices of beef which were so tender. The service was efficient and friendly. The only disappointment was my wife's ice cream desert, she asked for 2 scoops with chocolate sauce which looking at the other deserts was a bit of a poor show. All in all don't let this put you off I will definitely be returning

Lovely meal, very friendly staff and great service even though a huge party came in just after us. Can't fault anything, the food was delicious!

Sorry to say this was horrendous. In a party of 8 every meal had an issue. Most were cold. Shop bought pie was over cooked and chicken burger was cremated. Batter on onion ring was raw and it had to be pointed out to the waitress that, after several minutes of waiting, the 8th main seemed to have been forgotten about and had not served. Wouldn’t recommend.

Food is excellent and views brilliant. Innerleithen is a wonderful town, great bakery and pie shop. The cafes are very nice, dog friendly and have towels ready to dry everybody off.

We were sure to book ahead for this restaurant, as we knew that it could be difficult to secure a reservation on a Friday night. When we arrived, a bit early, we were immediately seated at our table and waited upon within short time. The venue interior is quite comfortable with plenty of open air space. I ordered the Supreme Chicken with bubble and Squeak mash. It was served beautifully presented, and the flavors were amazing! I felt the price was right on point with the service, presentation and quality of the food that we received. I would highly recommend dinner here....but be sure to reserve!

We went for Sunday dinner. My partner ordered the roast beef Sunday dinner & I ordered the special which was vegetarian wellington. Both were absolutely delicious. Quick service & very friendly staff. Highly recommended

I think they need to get their kitchen workflow sorted, bar area empty, no one outside eating, but kitchen cannot seem to handle load. Missed opportunity and revenue. Shame really. Not the first time

We ended up here by accident as the restaurant we had planned going to was shut. The food was lovely and not too expensive for lunch time. The service was excellent. We sat in the bar and I loved that they didn't hurry us and we sat and talked for ages. Will definitely be back.

The food was good. I made a few films on YouTube about Innerleithen. We didn't stay in the hotel, only like to go to the restaurant time to time, as we visiting Innerleithen quete often.

Stayed at the hotel four days and eat lunch one time as well as one dinner, both of which were served with a smile and were tasty and fairly priced. Not sure what more people expect from a pub it’s not fine dining but good honest food. Breakfast each morning was also good served with a smile.

This place has had good reviews, so I am willing to accept that we got it on a bad night, but it was probably the worst meal I've had. For a start, almost everything was off the menu: chicken supreme, pheasant, chicken wings, chilli nachos, steak... We ordered the breaded brie and nachos as a starter, and then the top side of beef, which we were assured came "medium". My daughter ordered the pizza. We also ordered two sparkling waters and a tap water, and a bottle of wine. The brie, which was somewhat overdone, came. No water. No wine. Then the pizza (see pic). It was undercooked, and truly dreadful, but possibly better than our beef. I got excited on its arrival, as I hadn't realised it came with a Yorkshire pudding. Sadly, my excitement was unwarranted. The beef was overdone to the point of shoe leather, with a gloopy gravy. The Yorkshire pudding (which was a lovely big size) was beyond even that - burnt to a crisp.One of the waters arrived, but still no wine (which we eventually cancelled, as we didn't want to have to sit there any longer than we had to). The potatoes were badly reheated, the carrots overdone, and there was a sort of dumpling that turned out to be a really hideous sage and onion stuffing ball. I honestly could not eat this meal (although the broccoli was actually perfectly done and very tasty).We eschewed a dessert, paid our bill and left. We shall not return.

My wife’s steak pie was ok but the promised hand cut chips were factory fries.My burger would have been good if it was hot would have been better if they left off the horrible onion rings AS REQUESTED and of course it too had lowly fries. No hand cut chips. It would all have been better if we hadn’t had to wait , uninformed of any progress for 30 mins.However the never go there again box got ticked when my mild emailed complaint was dealt with by the shouty owner David. No apologies, barely a chance to get a word in. He is of the opinion that he is right the so proves it by shouting and brooking no interruption. This place used to be ok.

Het is inderdaad een hotel met pub en restaurant. Je kan in beiden eten maar het restaurant zag er niet gezellig uit, in de pub was het vrij druk maar ook gezellig dus kozen wij daar een tafel uit om te eten. Vriendelijke en snelle bediening. Vrij ruime keuze ook in starters, hoofdschotel als desserts. Het eten is eenvoudig maar goed, vrij grote porties ook.

The fish and chips were as good as other reviewers have said. The peas were not very good. The red pepper soup was a good flavor, hot and accompanied with hot roll and butter. I had lasagne, which was very hot and tasty. The salad was good, after I returned it because I do not like dressings. Readily replaced and plentiful, accompanied by garlic toast. The bar man was also the waiter and was pleasant and efficient.

We had never eaten out in Innerleithen so weren’t sure what to expect. When we entered the main bar and dining area there was a happy buzz with a variety of guests including a couple of young children: so we didn’t feel out of place with our 3 year old. We were made to feel welcome and staff were very attentive throughout our meal. We ordered main courses. My husband ordered fish and chips which he felt was okay, the chunky hand cut chips were a bit dry, the fish was a good size but a bit greasy. I had the Book Keepers steak sandwich which was BIG and tasty. No complaints from me our 3 year old had the kids mac n cheese which was good.

With a new chef onboard we booked up for a 60th birthday dinner. The spare ribs were delicious, chicken stuffed with haggis wrapped in bacon was so tasty and steak pie was mouth watering. Coupled with locally brewed beer it was a celebration to remember.

On a day trip to Innerleithen, I popped in for lunch. I had the half a chicken roast. Big plate arrived ample amount of food. Only issue was that part of the chicken was not cooked properly.

Really nice staff here and that makes all the difference, fantastic real ale on offer too and great food, huge portions too.

We were staying locally so thought we would try the Traquir Arms for an evening meal. Fairly basic pub food but tasty and big portions. You can choose to sit in the bar or dinning room. The guy behind the bar was friendly and helpful. We would visit again if in the area.

Stopped off here after MTB ride around Innerleithen after a recommendation Looked a Nice place. They offer a bar menu so we thought we were in. However, we were told they are not serving the bar menu as they are fully booked. Seemed pointless having a bar menu imo.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The waitstaff was pleasant and courteous. The food was ok. When we tried to make a reservation for 6:00 for dinner, we were asked if we could come at 6:15. We arrived earlier than 6:00 for drinks and there was hardly anyone in the dinning room, so we were a little baffled.

We were in Innerleithen for the tweedlove bike festival and we visited Traquair arms for food. The restaurant was very busy but they fit three of us in and the food was lovely. We had the burger, pie and mushroom stroganoff and there was no issues with any of it

We stayed here two nights B&B; and also had dinner one night . We had no complaints, staff freindly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Evening meal was also good quality but the "newspaper" accessory with the fish and chips sort of disintegrated and had to be scraped of the plate. We mentioned this and they said they would let the chef know.

This local hotel and pub is great. It has a good range of beers and spirits. It is very popular with mountain bikers, fishermen, locals and tourists. They have bar sitting area, a quieter sitting area, beer garden and private function area. The food is of good quality with generous servings and a good atmosphere.

My husband and I stayed in the suite and were well pleased. Lovely big room with our own ensuite. Restaurant food was absolutely primo and the service from all staff was great. Very happy.

Good food with a reasonable choice. Service second to none with a young staff who are efficient and welcoming. Parking can be a problem, however. The hotel car park is very limited in space, a bit awkward to negotiate and fills very quickly in the early evening.The alternative street parking is limited, too, and be prepared to park some distance away. This is the only outlet for Traquair House ale on draft and for the 'real ale' person this is as best as it gets.

Visited for lunch while out on a motorcycle run with friends. The restaurant was very comfortable and the waitress service excellent.

I booked at table for four for lunch on a Sunday. Three of my party had never eaten, or ever been at, the Traquair Arms before. We had a delicious three course meal including pate, prawns and the haggis parcel; roast beef, salmon and steak and ale pie followed by sticky tofee pudding, two types of cheesecake and syrup sponge and custard. Every single meal was absolutely perfect and served by a lovely waitress.

We wanted a simple lunch and ordered a sandwich and soup. The waitress was very nice, welcoming and efficient. I have ate here many times over the years I have visited my family in Innerleithen and have always been satisfied with standard of food being served. However this time I must say the soup was terrible. The sandwich was fine, overpriced but tasty. The waitress spotted we did not like the soup and did not charge us. Please get your act together as I always enjoy my visits to The Traquair.

Just had a fabulous 3 nights here over Hogmanay. David, Jamie & staff were brilliant.... really helpful, friendly & professional. Dealt directly with Clare via email & phone regarding the booking. She was a pleasure to communicate with although I didn't meet her while we were there.

We stayed 2 nights with our dog . Our room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was good and served freshly cooked with a good choice. We are in the bar each night , the standard of the food is very good and the bar is very dog friendly with a good atmosphere amongst the locals. The staff were very anxious to please. Extremely Google value for money. We have visited, although not stayed, before and will certainly return . Thank you for making us welcome

We visited for lunch from the Christmas menu and booked in advance as they only usually do this in the evening. The meal was lovely and fantastic value at £21.95 for three courses. We are all regulars at the pub but haven’t eaten here for a while. We would definately recommend the festive menu!

There is a good variety of different types of dishes on the menu. The majority of the meals are priced at about £15 for a main course. I had the Steak'n'Ale Pie, Chips and MIxed Veg which was delicious. I also had a glass of red wine with my meal priced at £7 a glass. No complaints and excellent service from the staff !!

We ate here two nights running whilst in the area for work. Staff were attentive and friendly even when they were very busy with a lot of food orders. The highlight was the fish and chips that my partner had, highly recommend!

Only went here in the evenings whilst staying at a hotel nearby but the place was great! The staff really friendly and happy to help, the beer is good and the bar staff were all too happy to make whisky recommendations, toilets were always fresh too and the food was delicious.

Stopped in here for evening meal on a Saturday evening which was very busy. Bar area very nice and cosy however the dining room felt a bit empty of atmosphere. Meal itself was pub grub and nice enough but nothing exciting. Would look elsewhere to try if visiting the area again !

We had a selection of main courses all of which were delicious and plentiful, chips a bit soggy though. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Friendly service, if a bit slow with food.

Stayed two nights with family had a meal in the restaurant on the Friday night. All our meals were amazing and excellent presentation.Staff very friendly and helpful.

We called in the Traquair Arms for a late lunch on a Monday while staying nearby. The barmaid made us very welcome and made a fuss of our dog which was nice The food was very tasty ( had my favourite grilled goats cheese) , good sized portions. We enjoyed it so much that we returned later in the week for an early dinner. Again all the staff were very friendly, would definitely recommend if you are staying in that area.

In innerleithen niet zo veel eetmogelijkheden

Staying in Innerleithen for a few days, we decided to dine in the town & chose the Traquair Arms Hotel. The menu outside advertised Spanish Tapas. As it was Sunday evening, we checked with the hotel that the full menu was available..the Tapas in particular as we did not want a large meal & were told yes....until 9pm We walked down later to have our meal & the hotel was buzzing with lots of folk enjoying food & drinks. Shown into the dining room, we ordered the Tapas only to be told that it was not on the menu. Now this could have developed into a tricky situation......HOWEVER, thanks to warm, friendly & very professional young staff all was well. We were offered lighter options from the main menu.....our choice was delicious Chicken Caesar Salad..... fresh crisp, well presented AND with luscious fresh anchovies. The young waiter serving us & a young lady both apologised profusely & with good grace. I do hope the hotel management appreciate the excellent staff they have......the two young people who dealt with us could teach some staff in some much larger establishments exactly what good customer service is!! Well done !! We look forward to visiting again on our next trip to the beautiful Borders.

My husband Tom and I have been going to this place for years ! Always special. We even had his mother's funeral reception there... not a happy time.

Enjoyed Sunday lunch and later dinner. Good restaurant menu or bar menu to choose from with a small choice of specials including the Sunday roast which was on this occasion a very good roast lamb. Good choice of beers including the local excellent Traquair Bear Ale. Good atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming and friendly but also very efficient. Wouldn't hesitate to return here for a meal when next in the vicinity.

We recently visited Innerleithen and called in here for a meal. It was absolutely delicious and very generous portion sizes. Nice to see something interesting and tasty for vegetarians. Dogs welcome inside and out....lovely when your little dog is welcomed too

Used this place as a base during a motorbike tour of the Scottish borders. Absolutely fantastic service, food amazing and gotta give praise to the lasses that run the bar / restaurant, nothing was too much trouble and they worked tirelessly to keep this busy little place ticking over.

The restaurant served food until late which was good for us, they weren't taking orders for a brief period as serving a large family but we were advised of this and didn't wait that long for them to take the order. Nice food of moderate proportions and well presented.
