This has got to be one of the most unusual pub meal experiences in my life. Here's the situation - I was due at a meeting and I'd left too little time to get dinner, but I was passing and dropped into The Cottage Inn. I asked what the wait was for food and the girl behind the counter said there was no wait. I took my life in my hands and ordered a pie with chips. Then I asked how long it would take. She popped back to the kitchen and came back to announce 'About two minutes'. I laughed because I assumed she was joking. She said really and I sat down. Eighty seconds later as I drank my Coke, the food arrived and it was incredible. I could not believe it. It was fresh. It was tasty. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. And it was delivered well within the promised two minutes. Excellent staff. Impeccable service. Great food. Great price. Lovely atmosphere. Perfect.

This was only my second visit to The Parlour Tearoom and it was so lovely. A big thank you goes to Brooke and Anita, they were both extremely kind and helpful to both my friend and I, nothing was too much trouble for them - Thank you to you both. The food was fresh, the Egg Mayo sandwiches were the perfect blend and the Scone I had was delicious, as was the coffee, we will definitely be back again!

Popped in on the off chance on the way to a concert. Seated us both very quickly and with a smile. Ordered Dim Sum and 2 duck dishes as a main with salt and pepper chips and noodles to share. Food was excellent, hot and tasty and full of flavour. Speedy and attentive service too. Well worth a visit

As Southerners, it’s not hard to please us with a proper northern pie and gravy. The Greyhound Inn was hands down the best pie we’ve ever eaten. We had the minted lamb pie and it was tender, full of gravy thick enough to stand a teaspoon in and filled us to the brim. The staff were also very accommodating and lovely. Fabulous range of ales and beer too. Would 1000% come back.

If you’re in the area, please do visit The Fountain Head Inn at Branscombe, an atmospheric and welcoming local. We had a delicious meal here in this friendly pub on the first evening of an Autumn break - in our newly acquired camper van - me, the wife and our elderly spaniel. We returned to our campsite much later that evening (about 1/3rd mile away up the hill), let the dog out for one last widdle, and just like that, he disappeared into the night. We spent the next two hours searching and calling for him to no avail. We had no option other than to go to bed, rise early and re-launch our search. Our first call was to the campsite owners, who told my wife they had received a call from the pub saying that they had our spaniel. It seemed that our dog had decided our old camper van accommodation fell short of his expected standards and had returned down the hill to The Fountain to book himself a room for the night. The publicans had recognised him from earlier and tried to find us on the campsite; having failed, they put him up for the night and gave him breakfast. They would accept no offer of payment so we decided that the best idea was to post this message thanking them for going to so much trouble on our behalf - it’s very much appreciated.

Visited here with my wife. Could only have a black coffee as I was on my way to hospital. Coffee was excellent and great value. (I have no doubt the food will be good too). The guy who runs it is really friendly. Will definitely come again when I can eat something!

Easy parking and magnificent views of south-east Cornwall and the Tamar Valley complement this bright, airy venue. Breakfasts are named after the old mine workings that are dotted around this part of Cornwall. The Skita is ample for me and is always well-cooked. Staff are friendly and helpful, but special appreciation and best wishes must go to Amy.

What a delightful pub with such a warm welcome from all the staff. Rooms were very modern for such an old pub and exceptionally clean with everything we needed. Dinner by the log fire was excellent - service was very efficient and so friendly. We slept very well and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning - I would highly recommend this pub, also great for a stopover as it is only a few miles from the M6.

We ate here after a trip to Alton Towers. Food was fabulous with huge portions. My daughter had the fish and chips and I had the sharing platter starter as a main course. Both meals were absolutely delicious. Would definitely eat here again.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
