Nice classic pub next to the canal. Good place to rest after walking from Halifax to Sowerby Bridge. Good service.

The Navigation on the Rush bearing festival is absolutely packed. Staff work fast and friendly and courteously despite huge pressures and a multitude of thirsty customers. The pub itself has a quite traditional interior and is tucked away down a small road off the beaten track. But it's worth making a detour. Even better is making the short walk along the canal from the canal basin.

Brilliant little local serving a decent range of beers, wines and spirits at very decent prices. Great food including Sunday lunches, monthly karaoke night and additional Open Mic/folk evening. Staff are great and friendly. Car park even accomodates motorhomes. Everyone welcome.

We had the vegan cottage pie freshly made. All staff very friendly and attentive

Sunday lunch wasn't unpleasant and the Yorkshire pudding was so good but 1 carrot ,1 piece of parsnip,1 roast potato and literally 1/2 a tablespoon off mash just doesn't justify the price ,Also £4 extra for a small ramekin of cauliflower cheese and £4 for 3 pigs in blankets seem a lot when usually it comes with the meal . overall disappointed.

I only sat outside the pup. I had a nice shandy. There's lots of room outside for you to sit when it's lovely and sunny

I visited the Navigation for a birthday lunch with my father and other family members. The choice of food was uninspiring, and although there was hardly anyone else in the pub and several people working behind the bar, we had to wait over an hour to get our main courses. The nut roast resembled a brick in texture, and the belly pork was only a very small amount plus very stringy in texture. The fish course was also very small. The only worthwhile dish was the roast half chicken, which came with a £1 supplement. Considering the quality and size of the other dishes, they were grossly overpriced at £13.95 each. For the same price we could have got much better food elsewhere, and to be honest, this experience ruined the birthday lunch. I would not recommend this pub for food at all.

Went to the Navigation for a sunday roast, we booked a table for inside which wasn't busy although there were customers outside. After buying drinks at the bar it was a while before a member of staff came to take our order. We waited 45-50 mins for our food to arrive, the roast beef was very fatty and the cauliflower cheese was overcooked, The staff, of which there were plenty didn't seem to pay much attention to customers. I was really dissapointed as l have been before on many occasions and had both better meals and service.

I went with my close friend's and family for Sunday lunch. The food and service were great and the desserts were lovely. It is a dog friendly and family friendly pub with lovely staff and I would definitely recommend.

I have had a few drinks in this pub it’s always ended up a great starting pub for a wobble a day out drinking but this is the first I have had some food so I decided today was the day I missed out on Sunday roast but the guy who was serving me recommended beef baguette with fries gravey so that option definitely did work so I took in the oldie wordie inside decor which adds towards the character of the place with comfy seating inside also a nice beer garden over looking the canal with a decent car park . The place is just before the main road before you come into Sowerby but you can see it from the canal so it’s a very handy watering hole but really pleased to have tried the food plus the cliental are much different from your spoons it’s a loverly ideal Place for a peaceful bite to eat or a good selection of ales on offer . The food was very good the weather just held off for me but look forward to calling back .

This pub is great - lovely athmosphere, friendly staff, nice beer and the food was of such a good quality! Will definitely be coming back. They also always have good vegan options on the menu.

What a pub should be. I grudgingly accept food being served. If youre a boat go here there is no excuse. Very dog friendly

Superb roast dinner served by a very helpful and friendly staff team. Highly recommend. The last time I visited was a wedding reception and once again it was a lovely treat to visit the Navigation.

Amazing tea! Pigs in blankets as a special board starter followed by steak sandwich with garlic mushrooms. Absolutely delicious.

Food outstanding, shame when we booked a specific table it was given to someone else.

This is a great pub next to the canal close to Sowerby Bridge town centre. Serving quality home cooked food , the pub has a fine selection of real ales including Ossett Brewery Silver King! Recommended.

Really friendly place, good selection of drinks and snacks.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch, not having visited for several years. A friendly welcome and clean and pleasant. We ordered our meal which unfortunately took much longer than normal to arrive. The meals did not disappoint however. Very well cooked and enjoyable. Congratulations for having a tasty Porter beer on draught.

Lovely food, not over expensive

The food was delicious, nut roast and roast beef! Veg, roasties and mash were all cooked and presented really well. If you have a larger appetite get a side as well, extra roasties or cauliflower cheese. Food great but waiting time was very long and we were not really updated as to how long it would be. In the end it was almost an hour.

A great cosy pub next to the canal. We had a late lunch there with my kids (1 & 3 years old). The staff were great with the kids and we were very welcome! The food was delicious and generous too. A lovely spot, we will be back.

Sadly a bit hit and miss, first they'd run out of blue cheese for the blue cheese & steak baguette, so we opted for goats cheese. The steak was non existent in one sandwich so it was an expensive cheese butty. I had the lamb kofta which was lovely and well presented the nann wrap was a nice touch and tasty. But the onion rings were in edible and tasted & looked like they had been cooked a few times before been served to us. The barman was friendly and served quickly.

Lovely place to meet up with my sisters for lunch , one lives quiet near to the Navigation. Good food, staff were very friendly and the most important thing for me is that they welcomed dogs. Will definitely be going again next time I'm visiting Yorkshire.

Very nice pub had a lovely meal there with family i must say the desserts looked so lovely the chocalate cake and the peanut and caramel but i was full but yeh everything was lovely

Nice old pub 10 minutes walk from sowerby bridge centre. Definitely worth a look if you like cask ales, and the traditional style of pub. Food menu looked good. Outdoor seating area. Liked it. 👍

We'd had a long day and got to the Navigation in the nick of time for food which turned out to be excellent! And then the Karaoke started and we had a real laugh. Great fun!!

I recently visited the Navigation pub to grab a quick lunch and was thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste of their food. The menu had a wide selection of dishes to choose from, but I settled on the steak and blue cheese baguette, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The dish was perfectly cooked, and the blue cheese was the ideal accompaniment to the tender and juicy steak. The baguette was crispy and fresh, and the chips were perfectly cooked. The portion size was generous, which left me feeling full and satisfied. The staff was friendly and attentive, making my lunch experience all the more enjoyable. Visited for the first time, won't be our last. Friendly local pub atmosphere, food was nice too. Hubby had a burger and I had the chicken burger both delicious.

We come here for a drink since we moved to the area last year. It's such a nice and friendly pub, we love the location too. We recently tried their food and now it's our fave pub grub in town. It's delicious 😋 Fresh, home cooked meals full of flavour and reasonably priced.

Came in today and had the deep fried cheese, buffalo wings and hot beef butty. No other word can describe this meal other than SENSATIONAL. Thank you for the amazing food, stand out service and making us feel welcome. If I lived nearby I would be proud to call The Navigation my local.

Excellent Sunday roast today with great choice of meats, and vegetarian options . The sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream finished it off a treat. Will definitely be returning. Great, friendly atmosphere with wonderful service

This pub is tucked away down a very small lane next to the canal, but it is well worth seeking out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The selection of beer was good and the Ossett Brewery Blonde that I had was very well kept. The food was exactly as described on the menu, piping hot and very tasty - and plenty of it. Really enjoyed this pub, if you are in the area pop in and have a lovely time.

We visited the navigation recently we waited over 1 hour. The food was terrible. When i asked the chef about the food he was very shirty and he were not a nice chap at all to ask about the dishes . Not to be recommended at all to anyone unless the want to be physical sick!

Lovely friendly service and great food

We went today for lunch, didn't book and got a table. Nice to see quite a few people there eating. I had a haddock fish cake (2) with salad leaves and garlic butter sauce, (starter) very tasty, would recommend. My daughter had small fish, chips and mushy peas, good size portion and also very tasty. Lots of choice on the menu at reasonable prices. Very nice staff, quick service. I would recommend and will definitely return.

We moored up very near to the Navigation and ate there on two occasions. Both times the meals were top quality and they don't skimp on the portions. It is certainly somewhere I have marked on my map for a return visit when I am passing Sowerby Bridge again.

Stopped off with friends for a few drinks, thought I'd have a quick look at the menu and we were immediately tempted. The food is brilliant, the best I've had in a long time. Better still the atmosphere is great, the staff are soo friendly...
