My family went to the Alma Inn for the second time today. Service was great and so was the food. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that for the second time we were given broken high chairs. We mentioned the broken high chair to a waitress that replaced it and the one it was replaced with was also broken. We'd love to go back again but given this has happened on both of our visits we might wait until the little one is big enough to not need a high chair.

We only didn't Mark 5 stars for the room, because it had quite a few cobwebs and was a little small (imho) but clean bedding lovely white fluffy towels, we had a lovely meal pasta and garlic bread and staff were friendly and helpful our little pooch loved it too Slept well, other than in the morning as people left early, one of the doors (maybe fire door) needed some wd40 to stop it squeaking! 😂 We had a yummy breakfast and will definitely be back soon 👍

I was lucky enough to find this gem on the Brit.stop app. I was able to stay in my camper van in the car park for 3 nights. They were really welcoming and helpful. The location is unbelievably pretty. The food here at The Alma Inn is good and well priced. There are many gluten free options including draught beer- which was really helpful for me. It’s brilliantly situated for buses (there’s a regular bus directly outside The Alma) to take you to Sowerby Bridge Station where you can easily and quickly get to places like Manchester, Leeds and Hebden Bridge. I loved staying here. I’m definitely coming back if they’ll have me back 😁

Can I just say wow! We have just stayed at the Alma Inn for two nights and it was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and we sampled a wide variety of the menu. The staff were all very well trained and attentive. They made our stay! The rooms were lovely and dog friendly too. We had room 4, 6 and 7. Room 7 has a roll top bath! The showers in the other rooms were very powerful. Everything was just perfect! If you walk down the hill from the pub there is a nature walk and stream. Brilliant location. We will be back again next year. Thankyou 😀

Our 2nd stay at the Alma. We love everything about this place, from its location, food and hospitality. We took our little dog this time and the staff are really dog friendly. We stayed in Room 7 which I would avoid on our next visit. It is a beautiful room that overlooks the car park but I couldn't sleep from the noise of some kind of fan? We never worked out where or what the noise was but it never stopped. The window wouldnt close and the smell of cigarettes from outside had drifted into the room. Other than that a delightful stay and we look forward to returning.

We met up with friends and all stayed overnight with the B&B Dinner package which was great value. The menu was varried with us all having a starter , main course and dessert , the food was nicely presented and tasty , the steak was lovely but lacked garnish on the plate coming with just chips and a peppercorn sauce, maybe a flat mushroom or tomato would have been great , you could pay extra for side's. The rooms were cosy , we stayed in the twin , the beds were so uncomfortable and you could feel lumps , dips and springs in the mattresses , they creaked with any movement and the pilows were lumpy and hard which led to a very sleepless night. The location of the Inn was so lovely , picturesque and plenty of car parking , a lovely beer garden / outdoor seating area. The staff were very friendly, professional and attentative at our evening meal and breakfast. Our full engllish breakfast was lovely, quality produce and a good choice of juices and cereal.

Pretty rude and not worth your time. The long haired waitress was incredibly rude and had a face like a slapped arse. Before we ordered she nearly cut my partners face with the menu and didn’t smile once and was very blunt ( no conversation skills and didn’t seem like she was bothered about anything ) There were animals wondering around the pub…barking and spluttering on the food, very strange and unsanitary in my opinion . The food was just ok, nothing special. Such a shame as this establishment used to be pretty great. My advice, speak to your front of house staff about how customer service is supposed to be.

Went here for dinner yesterday. The building itself is very nice inside and I appreciate that they are dog friendly. However the food we had ( Sunday roasts) were bland. Initially it looks a good amount because there is a large yorkshire pudding on top but it has no taste. The three extremely thin slices of turkey were depressing and the gravy was like water. The vegetables were nice and fresh though but overall it left a lot to be desired and was a massive disappointment it also wasn't hot enough. I also want to note that the waiters left a lot to be desired. They seemed clueless. We had to try and get their attention a few times and they left the cutlery for dessert at the end of the table instead of handing it out. They also didn't leave us with enough cutlery after removing some from the table when didn't order a starter.

We were very disappointed last night due to my wife being bitten by a dog in the eating area. We reported this, twice to the staff and they were not very caring and supportive. All we were told "this is a dog freindly pub"!. We will definitely not be visiting again, unless there is a different dog policy with the Alma. We are also considering legal action as we have photographic evidence of the injuries, which my wife has sent across and had no response. This incident could have happened to a child.

This restaurant is in beautiful settings overlooking the countryside and feels lovely on a summer evening eating here. I'd heard it was good so had high expectations. The only reason it lost a point was when we arrived the two servers looked at us and ignored us. Luckily another member of staff saw us and helped us. There are a few different eating areas. We opted for the indoor one rather than the outdoor part. I had the mushroom and truffle oil pizza and I honestly think I've not enjoyed a pizza that much since visiting Italy. I could easily eat it every day. I had the tiramisu for dessert and that was nice too. I enjoyed their wine also. I would definitely go again and wouldn't be put off by the cold service we received at first as our lady made up for it afterwards as she was helpful and attentive.

Food well presented, in our opinion the portion sizes for mains were small. Salmon was described with steamed veg, this was 4 stems.of baby broccoli with a small portion of fries.Would have preferred some carrots/peas and potatoes for the price!. The pizzas and garlic bread are very tasty and would recommend these if you want to be full up. The children's pasta was very good as the staff served it with the starters for the adults and it wasn't served red hot so the little q was able to eat it straight away :). Disappointing food. Had the haddock and there was a very small piece of fish in a soup of Hollandaise sauce. Half of the mains were not available.

A lovely traditional pub steeped in local history that for the last few years has suffered from a revolving door of short lived landlords without a clue. What a refreshing change then to see that the Hinch' has finally got new landlords (Oct2024) who clearly know how to run a pub. Within a short period of time they have successfully managed to breathe new life into what had become a tired and soulless place to eat and drink. On the two occasions we've been since the Hinch reopened we've been super impressed with the food. In fact the cheese and onion pie might well be the best pie l've tasted in the Calder Valley (or ever!) and the flavourful and plentiful Sunday Roast offering was a cut above your usual pub ‘roast’ offering. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the food if you’re looking for somewhere to eat - especially when it comes without the hassle of parking in Hebden Bridge. On each occasion we’ve been, the Hinch was busy with drinkers and diners which is great to see. The trade off is you've only got the choice of Manchester owners JW Lees’ own branded mystery beer offerings. Forget the craft-ale revolution, or the fact that Vocation brewery is literally 5 mins away, the solitary guest beer offering here is San Miguel. I guess you can't have everything, but at least the food and atmosphere more than makes up for it!
