Went with a group of 9 people, my starter did not arrive, we asked why, they brought it out just as everyone else on the table had finished their's. I ordered a chicken burger and was disappointed, wish I'd ordered something else, the chips were hot but dry and hard, won't be returning anytime soon.

We were gifted a free Sunday evening and as we were at t loose end, thought of visiting here, having been discussing where we used to go years ago. As like a recent post saying they visited after a long time too, we worked out it must have been 42 years since. Upon entering it still looked the same (and I think it was the same carpet (or pattern), we were taken to our seats and it began to fill up very quickly. Our drinks and food orders were taken and the at seat service for drinks is very nice. Gone off the menu was the TBone steak (with the filet cut out), this has been replaced with a rump steak and the fondly remembered fried egg, grilled tomato, peas and chips. The chips were very good, crispy and fresh, the steak well cooked, but was a little gristly at one end and would have been perfect if trimmed. The menu has been updated to reflect current tastes, I understand why it has, but it detracts from what it was. All in all a nice meal, it is a pub food / service style place, but with bags of charm, will we leave it another 42 years before we go again, perhaps not - go and enjoy.

Food was very nice and service staff were very nice and friendly. We didn't book a table so we got seated around the back on our own, in some regards that was a good thing because we have little kids, but it let down the atmosphere a little bit. But a great place, highly recommend and we will be visiting again. I would recommend the cheese and onion pie, was delicious 🥧🍻👍

Bene coming here for years and enjoying it but last night completely missed the mark. The service was poor and the food took forever to come out with little-no communication from staff. When the food arrived it was not at all the standard I expected for the price. The chips were barely cooked and just tasted like cheap oil, even ketchup couldn't mask the taste. The fish was dry. A friend tried their speciality burger and it was one of the worst he'd tasted. Smothered in mustard so you couldn't taste anything else and the meat on its own wasn't great. For the prices we paid I was shocked.

Lacking customer service and patience. I asked for the cheese and onion pie for my mum. To then be told they didn’t have any left. (Usually when I go to a restaurant/ pub dinning I get told what’s not available on the menu after being seated) but, then again I forget the menus were chucked down and the waitress walked off. So, on ordering the rest of group ordered and I was still having to go through the menu to help my mum. The waitress then rolling her eyes and putting her note pad across her mouth then decided to tell us what wasn’t available on the menu. God forbid if I’d of asked the waitress to come back in a couple more minutes. Having my mum who’s of an older age and can’t see a menu due to bad eye sight was then felt rushed. The waitress was not helpful or kind at all. I didn’t have the time to go through the menu and felt so pressured to make a decision. The huffing and eye rolling isn’t very nice. She’s stood behind the bar like a bouncer with a face like a slapped bum. Not welcoming at all!!!!. I dine here quite regularly with friends and honestly very disappointed today taking my mum and some of her friends for lunch.

We hadn't booked but a table for two was found for us in the conservatory. There was a wide choice on the menu and reasonably priced by today's standards. We had the broccoli potato stilton bake and the scampi. Both were good portions, nicely cooked and presented and tasted delicious. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, always on hand . Perfect Mid-Week Dinner at The Top Brink Inn Located in the scenic town of Todmorden, The Top Brink Inn proved to be the ideal spot for a mid-week, early dinner for two. We reserved a table for 5pm on a Thursday. The restaurant was not too busy, and the service was impressively quick, offering a decent menu with a variety of options. For starters, we shared a bowl of delicious olives and hummus, which was a delightful beginning to our meal. For our main courses, we chose burritos and chilli con carne, both of which were incredibly tasty and well-prepared. The total cost of the meal, including two drinks, came to under £50. This represented excellent value for money. Overall, The Top Brink Inn offers a wonderful dining experience in Todmorden and is definitely worth a visit.

Struggling to understand what a large wine is or a bottle..maybe inexperienced Waiter. More training needed. Food was ok standard. Nothing special. Kids machines or corner where machines where. Completely out of date. Nothing for children to do. Yes ok it's not a family oriented pub. But as least get little something for children to do. Very small back area. Needs something up to date. Windows in family room very dusty deco out of date. Really sorry but nothing more then a 3* ALOT of improvements needed. Wouldn't come back. I have been coming here for Sunday lunch for years but will not be in the future. It has become quite tired looking inside the old section, the extension though is quite good. The carpets are worn and the radiators in the toilets have turned to rust, the food is now quite bland with tasteless vegetables and it's quite expensive for what you get. It's essentially expensive pub grub in a country pub atmosphere but with average food. Maybe I'm a bit fussy but there is no excuse for vegetables to be tasteless. I have edited the review after the reply from the owners, the photos were from a previous visit.

We took our friend from Wakefield who catches the train to Todmorden where we pick him up. After ordering drinks we were busy catching up so the waitress had to come back a couple of times before we were ready to order but this wasn't a problem. The food is traditional Pub Fayre but always freshly cooked and delicious. This is our friends favourite in the area and always asks to go there. Going down hill fast. My family have been regulars here for the past 40 years. We still go atleast twice a month and it's just not nearly what it was. I used to always get a Cumberland sausage but now the price of a sausage is so extortionate i opt for a light bites steak. Each and everytime I ask for it medium rare and it arrives well cooked like cardboard. We went as a large group recently for a family occasion. It took us all being sat for an hour and requesting someone take our order 3 times before anyone actually did. The staff, bar one gentleman seemed to not care. When my food arrived my steak was again cardboard and I had an undercooked egg with raw egg white all on the top with a cold yolk. I kindly asked if they give it a few more minutes so the egg was properly cooked and it came back a few moments later cold and raw ontop again. I just accepted it and continued to enjoy a social evening with my family. But we all agreed the service and food is not nearly what it was. Such a shame.

Wednesday visit, four drinks, two starters and two mains £65 and Friday three drinks and two mains £42. The reason I’ve started with this is I found it to be such good value, as not only is the food delicious the portions are huge. Also as a vegetarian I had multiple choices ,not just the vegetarian option which I normally get. I had halloumi fries and they were the best I’ve ever had, in fact to the point unless I come back here , I’m not going to bother having them again. I had cheese and onion pie on the Wednesday and it was lovely. On the Friday I had the potato spinach cheese bake with garlic bread and it was just so tasty. My husband had halloumi flat bread on the Wednesday and a vegetable burger on the Friday and said they were both delicious. We had no room for deserts but they did look amazing. The staff were lovely and very accommodating as we arrived early both times and were seated no problem. If you’re looking for a quintessential Yorkshire country pub then this is it.

We ate here on a Thursday evening to celebrate the final night of our holiday. We felt scammed by the Thursday and Friday night "Eat-in" offer which was not applied to the bill for the roasts that we ordered. The waitress brought our menus to the table, said that the roast was beef, and asked us to order at the bar. She didn't say that any of menu was not available (which would have been helpful!). We originally chose options that wouldn't have qualified for the offer but when we tried to order them at the bar we were told that a lot of the items were not available due to refrigeration problems. So my husband chose roast beef and I not wanting to spend time going through the menu again and knowing that roast of the day was on the 2 mains for £20 offer (applicable at the time we were there) , also said I'd have roast. When we got the bill we were charged £16.50 for each roast. I said that the two roasts should be £20. However, the waitress said that as we hadn't specifically asked for the roast off the offer she couldn't put it through as that. She was adamant that that was what she had been told to do, and said that our roasts were bigger than the offer roasts. I subsequently looked at the menu and on the main menu it says "The Roast'est with the Most'est - roast dinners" and under the offer it says "Roast Dinner of Day". So firstly, I would question if most people would look at the menu and understand that these were not the same dish and secondly, if a customer asks for "roast" at a time when the offer is applicable shouldn't the waitress clarify which they want. Food was OK.

What a place! Awesome atmosphere, genuinely friendly staff, the best DG's, club nights, reasonably priced drinks and delicious Thai food. Anything goes, and everyone welcome. The Golden Lion in Todmorden is a breath of fresh air, and it's easy to see why people travel from far and wide to bathe in the craziness. Can't wait to get back.
