Excellent for place for a nice breakfast Friendly atmosphere - My wife and I was made very welcome. Excellent service and not too expensive either. We'd go back - next time to enjoy to the Fish & Chips as it looks amazing.

Me and my friends throughly enjoyed ourselves had wine and a lovely meal and Tan was very helpful friendly and professional! Thank you!

19/03/24: Works Do. Another fab time. Grabbed some nibbles. 3 for £15. We had chicken goujons, pork belly bites, rosemary foccacia with an additional side of home cooked chips. Craft ale choices were good, but chose a refreshing raspberry cider instead and then the Marble Brewery: Earl Grey IPA 6.8%. Increased stars from 3 to 4. 02/10/23: Team day out! 12/08/22: a short stop on our Hebden Bridge Ale Trail. Not a fantastic choice of craft ales here, so we had a cider instead. Plenty of outdoor seating available. Update: 17/08/22: following a fantastic and encouraging reply to my review from the Manager, I can only promise to return in the future and review my first opinions. Thanks Mac. 👍🏻 Great service!

Came specifically to have the chateaubriand, did not disappoint! Food was excellent, service was just as good. Would come back again!

Food was better than I expected , service not amazing. Didn’t feel overly welcome. Neither bad or great experience, would probably go again but felt a bit expensive .

A perfect place for lunch. We had the fish and chips, and a steak sandwich. Both were excellent, and the pint of landlord was also very good. The staff are all polite, friendly and helpful (finding a suitable table for us to have our newborn in her pram). Our server Ethan was just so lovely and a natural in customer service. We'll definitely be back and recommend for anyone looking for excellent food and drink, in a great atmosphere in Hebden Bridge.

Visited here for the first time with friends. BOOKING is advised as it was very busy. We sat upstairs which was a beautiful setting. I had fish cake for starters and the lamb and mint burger for main. Friends had the set menu which was 2 courses for £21 I think. The service was of a high standard with very attentive waiters. Would recommend to friends and family

Me and my husband stopped in here as recommended by a lovely lady we met in Todmorden. Really glad we stopped here as my hubbys birthday. We decided on a 3 course set menu. To start I had the baked Brie and other half had the salt and pepper calamari both super tasty. The Brie was excellent. The we had the same main - steak and chips and that again was really good food. To finish we I had a lemon tart and hubby had a fruit crumble. The lemon pie was one of the zingyest I’ve ever tasted and was amazing. Couple of drinks and really reasonably priced. £26 each then the drinks. The service was really good and although we waited a little longer for the puddings, it wasn’t too much hassle as still digesting the main. The view was lovely and it’s just on the outskirts of the main centre. We will 100% be returning here. Thank you

We visited the Old Gate twice during our short stay in Hebdon Bridge, first for lunch and a couple of days later for an evening drink. It’s almost like two totally separate establishments, a nice restaurant upstairs and a relaxed pub downstairs. We enjoyed both. The food (my wife and I both had mushroom fettuccine) was very tasty and the drinks selection was good. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and professional, the bar staff downstairs were slightly less approachable.

Really enjoyed it, excellent atmosphere with a spacious seating area which includes upstairs. Found staff and service was top quality, will definitely visit again.

Folks. If you are staying in Hebden Bridge then this is a go to venue. Relaxed atmosphere, good beer, friendly staff and superb food. Visited 12th Feb for dinner. Loved it. All of the staff and I mean all, were on the ball and top notch. A single out was our waitress - Tan. Top girl and now an adopted Scouser! Well done all and we will be back!!

Excellent food and a good vibe for casual dining. The food here is consistently great, with a good choice. There's a fixed price two or three course menu available until 6.30pm, plus the a la carte. We had prompt, friendly and professional service from the handsome Rhys, who didn't mind us lingering over a long lunch, catching up with friends.

Had a very large variety of beers, If you like your ales this is the place to visit. Staff very knowledgeable and very helpful.

Saturday afternoon and a little trip to Hebden Bridge. After a walk and browse in the shops wanted some warm and home cooked food. The Old Gate was recommended and when we arrived the bar and outside were packed. However Rhys searched to find us a table and checked when people were about to leave . He found an option downstairs but then a great table in the lovely restaurant. Ashanti was our waitress and couldn’t have been nicer. When asked recommended dishes and drinks. Super friendly and attentive always with a smile. This was complimented by Lara who again gave great customer service. Good choice of food and reasonable pricing. We had Ox Cheek Rosti to share which was delicious. And then both had the Steak and Kidney pie with gravy and mushy peas! Nice wine. My advice would be too many menus . Restaurant menu. Set menu drinks menu and specials! Great experience

Went here on a little solo date a couple weeks ago and the staff were so friendly, the food portions fantastic for what you pay, and I left satisfied and full. Will definitely return with my partner

I love this pub. It has great beers on offer, as well as mouth watering food. On my last visit I shared a trio of bar nibbles which were gorgeous - sweet potato fries, chicken goujons, and garlic and rosemary focaccia. They were definitely more filling than "nibbles" which we were happy about! The decor is lovely and homely and the fire was definitely a nice touch after a chilly walk.

The old gate is an example of what a good eatery should be. The food was well prepared using quality ingredients, with a great selection of options. The atmosphere was great and the service outstanding- so much so that we visited on Friday for breakfast, and returned on Saturday. A special mention to the manager who ensured that everyone was accommodated, despite the restaurant being very busy and to the hard working waiting staff. We will definitely return!

Beyond excellent veggie roast, perfect Landlord beer and fabulous, efficient service from our waitress, Tan. I left the UK ten years ago but The Old Gate makes me wonder why.

Lovely food, really big portions and brilliant pint or two of Timmy Taylors Landlord. Table service from Tan was brilliant, really pleasant meal, would highly recommend.

Lovely place to go for food or a drink... we visited during the festive season and had a lovely time sat next to an open fire whilst drinking Mulled Wine.

What a delight it was to eat here today we had a breakfast, and delicious it was perfectly cooked perfectly presented friendly staff you just couldn't find anything bad the owners have a right goldmine & have a good team around them I absolutely recommend coming here if ever you are in the area it's just an absolute must!!!

Great place which I have visited many times - whether you're relaxing for a pint or having a meal upstairs the atmosphere is always perfect. I always bring friends here who are visiting from abroad and they really enjoy the classic British atmosphere that the Old Gate emanates. More on the pricey side but definitely worth it.

Atmosphere lost a star due to dog owners who let dog pee against table..and scrap and bark. not relaxing. But apart from that great place. Worth a visit

My husband and I visited the Old Gate for our 20th wedding anniversary. We had a delicious meal, seated upstairs in the quiet restaurant area. We both really loved our food! Excellently prepared, sourced locally as much as possible and beautifully presented. The dining area is decorated with a colourful and eclectic mix of art. The seats are comfy and the general vibe is relaxed and welcoming. We will no doubt be back!

Excellent grub at The Old Gate. We both ordered the seafood platter number off the specials menu, sat outside and watched the world go by. The food was super tasty and clearly freshly cooked. Good selection of beers, service was spot on.

Stopped in here for breakfast, found a quiet corner and ordered a full English. Food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The place is clean and welcoming and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The place is dog friendly so great if you have one. Really glad we called in, was a great start to our first date!

This is a lovely pub to visit. We went for a late breakfast and I can honestly say they cook the best eggs Benedict I have ever tasted. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and the pub itself has a very relaxed atmosphere.

Called here for lunch, the food is amazing. I had seafood platter and it was absolutely delicious. My friend had the halibut, and she said it was the best ever. Will definitely be returning soon.

Been this place a couple times and this week went there service is not great more worried about clearing tables then serving u and asking how your meal is! I had the chicken breast with Dalphniese potatoes the chicken was so dry and the gravy or sauce that was on the chicken was so thin and tasteless The drinks are over priced for what u get I had a spirit ( one shot) and a dash of coke almost £6 ! Like London prices! I don't rate this place great and many people and friends I spoke to say the same. There are many other little restaurants not far where food is great and atmosphere !

Liked everything about the place but the meat choice in the Sunday roast was poor. I would definitely think turkey should be in there. Instead I had pork loin which I didn't enjoy - too much cutting away fat. Other choices of pink beef and ham were not for me.

What a pleasant Pub/Restaurant the Old Gate Bar was/is. Special day for my new wife myself and guests it was, everyone of the staff was as I expected friendly polite and considerate. I will certainly be going back there again. Thank you.

Lamb burgers and chunky chips, a little pricey for a simple meal, but nice enough ( 3 onion rings for 2.50). Clean and spacious and the staff are attentive.

Excellent food, reasonably priced. Lovely interior reminiscent of the ivy establishments. The steak was massive and cooked to perfection and the Eton mess was out of this world!

Stumbled across the old gate while looking for some lunch in Hebden Bridge. I had a pie and chunky chips that was excellent and my partner had the steak sandwich which was also very nice. Great service from Isabella, would definitely recommend
