This is the best Sunday roast we have had for many years, with top quality beef and plenty of freshly cooked vegetables. The pie of the day (meat and potato) was also delicious and packed full of steak and vegetables in a rich gravy, with a puff pastry top. It was absolutely lovely. It was also big - great for a healthy appetite. The choice of desserts was varied and were delightful. There are plenty of servers giving excellent and friendly service. With some gentle background music it has a relaxed atmosphere. It's dog friendly but also caters for the likes of us that don't have a dog and is segregated. Just ask for table in the segregated area. It has is a very good selection of ale and other drinks. There is an open fire which I would imagine is very welcoming on a cold winter's day. It is 2 minutes walk away from Ogden water which is a picturesque stroll, with or without the dog. All in all, great value and well worth a visit. We will be going back - with our family.

Felt very unwelcoming when walking in, so much infact that as the entire bar looked at us my wife asked if it was ok for us to order a drink? As we brought our dog we were told to sit in the dog area - even though a family ate in the main area with their dog - which was very cold and very dirty. It definitely gave off instant vibes that you could sit in the other area with your dog if they knew you. We asked for a food menu once we ordered a drink and were promptly told we couldn’t order for at least 30 minutes even though there was hardly anyone in the pub when we arrived so we didn’t bother looking after that. We took a mat in for our dog to lay on as though she doesn’t malt she does get cold, when leaving we picked the mat up and it was full of other dogs hair on the other side which means the floors aren’t kept clean and people are eating in that part (bare in mind this is around 1pm on a Sunday, hardly late into the evening). Entering via the back actually smells of sweat, the child seats were filthy (we had to ask for it to be cleaned) for our one year old and the whole place just feels cold, unwelcoming and dated. It’s funny because from the road, the front looks lovely but it gets progressively worse the further you get to the back of the pub (where you park). It doesn’t surprise me that no matter how busy Ogden Water was with walkers, that nobody was pulling in for a drink here afterwards.

Been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. Sunday lunch is stunning and the masala fish was beautiful and big portions. If you want home made freshly cooked then this is a must. Allister & Selina

Visited for first time. Not been before because its a dog friendly pub. We choose not to go to places to eat where dogs are allowed(personal choice) we met family there because they have a dog and had travelled a long way to spend a few days in the area. Really nice place, lovely setting. Load of seating outside with fantastic views. Plenty of seating inside, not squashed in. Food was very very good, it has to be said. Good choice and large portions. Service very good. Very reasonable price. Definitely a place for dog lovers, just about everyone who passed us, made a fuss of family's dog. I think we will Visit again because of food and location, even though dog friendly not our first choice. But to be honest Plenty of room inside and out for it not to be a problem. Would definitely recommend a visit to anyone.

Good friendly family atmosphere

Traditional country Inn, cask ales, food, nice outdoor area at the rear with plenty of seating. Doggy friendly room . Relaxed atmosphere. Eclectic untidy decor. Needs a bit of TLC.

Booked to be in the non doggy area. Put in the doggy area. Told when they are busy, they have to put us somewhere. If they had told me at time of booking, I wouldn’t have booked. Refused service at the bar, told its waitress service. We had already waited 15 mins. Waiting staff seemed very disjointed. Eventually ordered food n drinks. Starters mediocre. Waited 45 mins for mains.one of the party had ordered lamb, he was served beef. Facatia sandwich orders by 2. Both were soggy, and plastered with pepper paste. Never asked if we wanted anymore drinks, sauces, or if the food was ok.

Food is nice enough for an upper market pub. The service left a lot to be desired. I stood at a not very busy bar for 15 minutes before I got served. The bar staff also looked rather unhappy.

The food here has been outstanding on every visit! From the diverse menu to the quality and presentation of the dishes, we have always been delighted and impressed! For the first few visits I kept selecting the same couple of dishes that I had enjoyed so much, but more recently I have started choosing different dishes and not one of them has disappointed! Only been for lunch so far. Staff are brilliant, love the fact dogs can come in, cozy atmosphere and great food. A real good place to spend time, you will leave with a smile on your face.

Had a walk around Ogden, then went here for lunch - we booked into the dog area. They were very welcoming with biscuits and water for the dogs. We ordered sandwiches for lunch, and doggy bowls for the 3 pooches. Food was very very good, tasty and fresh. We will defo be back and thank you for a lovely experience.

Our club have been regular attendees for many years and last Wednesday, 27th March 2024 was no different. Home made soup and roll as a starter followed by a full roast beef with Yorkshire pudding main. Blow out! First class as always.

The food at the causeway foot is excellent, and overall, it is a nice place to visit. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the staff seemed more interested in being at the end of the bar than serving in the restaurant. Once we had completed our main course, it was a long time before anybody came to clear the plates. We had to go get our own dessert menus as nobody was about. In the end up we decided not to have another round of drinks or desserts, which was a shame. On arrival at the bar to pay our bill, my wife said something about the waiting times and was made to feel like she was being talked about by the staff who kept looking around at us and laughing. Food excellent service rubbish we will try somewhere else next time, which is a shame as we normally visit with family

Went today first time going food was excellent couldn't fault it absolutely beautiful all home made would definitely recommend excellent value for money can't wait to go again

Group of 9 family and friends went for lunch last week food was really good but service was very slow only 2 waitresses on then was told only had 20 minutes to order sweet and go before a party was taking over the restaurant area for private party which to be honest was a shock considering there service was very slow so we ordered sweet then asked for bill which we asked twice for but ended up getting it ourselves from bar area so everything was OK until they mentioned we had 20 minutes to have sweet then pay bill and go was not happy as some of family came from Switzerland and are in hospitality they weren't impressed by this.

Went again today for lunch with family had 2 course meal for £17 and it was both beautiful and plentiful. We all had a lovely meal. Can recommend the lamb Henry. Staff were also helpful and polite. We will definitely be going back for another meal. Five stars.

Good food Good pub to have a drink and to see family and friends.

Soup of the day - tomato with a roll. Its nice and creamy roll was a bit disappointing as it was a hotdog roll cut through the middle. I ordered a leg of lamb. Thought I was getting that but got slices instead. Gravy was served over the meal, which made Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes soggy. Veg came separately. The meal was tasty. Beer £4.70 a pint

Called in a few weeks back with the walking group and was impressed. Decided to have family meal today (boxing day) save me cooking. I can't fault this place the atmosphere ,food and service are excellent 👌. I would recommend to anyone especially dog lovers it's a very dog friendly place. 11 out of 10 from me for 2nd time

I had booked lunch for 20 people a month or so before the actual event and nearer the time advised them of everyone's choices. Very close to the time (some on the same day) a couple of people weren't able to make it, or changed their food choices and the owner (?) Terry was very pro-active, reacting really quickly and positively to all messages & Emails, ensuring our lunch was stress free and enjoyable. We all said the food was superb and the staff were lovely, very friendly and efficient. THANK YOU for a very pleasnt and enjoyable experience We'll definitely be back !!

The Causeway Foot has to be one of the best value for money and quality pub / restaurants in West Yorkshire. To top it off they allow dogs in to their Ramblers dog friendly room and even serve doggy dinners :-) Great pub , great food, great staff and friendly service.

Went today for lunch with friends had 3 course meal for £20 and it was beautiful all the courses we had. Staff were very helpful and polite. We would definitely go back for another meal there.

Fantastic pub. Food was incredible. Not only value for money but outstanding taste too. They were so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend a visit. My dogs were welcomed too which made the visit even better.

What we like about this place and what we don't: It's spacious and, encourages using cash, which we far prefer. Good carpark area. The oldy world look about it Inc the open fire. Pleasant staff serving at bar. Eating area away from the dog friendly area but, still too near. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely country area and views. Disliked: Only a personal thing despite having a dog, we're not keen on places that welcome unmuzled dangerous breed dogs yet, it also sells meals. Too many folks sat at bar area making ordering drinks awkward. But, overall, we give it a 5 star, despite the few negatives.

What can I say, but we visit regularly and are never disappointed. So much food, we had to bring home a 'doggy bag' Top tip: Book before you go - they get busy! Bottom Line: Muddy boots and dog friendly. This is a great, country gastro pub!

We visited with family. The menu choices are excellent, classic pub grub served in a really homely and cosy environment. The food we ordered (Sunday lunch) was really tasty, the meat tender and all of a high quality. Beer was fine, serving well kept Timmy Taylor’s finest. Service was with a smile, quick and efficient. A larger table of at least 12 were sat by us and we noticed all their food came out at the same time. We will definitely be back!!!

Paid upfront for our food as we were eating outside. 5 of us got main meals at the same time and we were told the other two meals wouldn't be long. Once the other 5 of us were almost finished they arrived with the other two meals, no apology for the lateness of this. One side dish was missing and my fiancé's main meal was wrong, chicken instead of pork. Again, no apology, just told that she remembered writing pork on the slip so would go sort it. About 20mins later the pork sandwich was then brought out when everybody had finished eating. Despite ordering with no cheese and the fries option, it had lots of cheese on and was served with thick cut chips. My fiancé has autism and has never liked the texture of cheese so couldn't eat this. He was already upset about having to wait a long time for his food so when it arrived he was struggling to regulate himself. The waitress said she didn't recall him asking for no cheese and that there was nothing she could do. Again no apology. I said to my partner "maybe you could just eat the chips" he replied to me "no f**k this I can't eat any of that, let's go". The waitress just walked off, the manager then came out agressively and said "you've been complaining all night haven't you" and more, no pleasantries or introductions. We then told him our side of the story to which he apologised and said he would have to check with his staff because he wasn't told this. No offer of a refund though. Another male member of staff came out to clear the table and kept making comments towards us, not helping the situation. So disappointing because I have been to this place a couple if times and enjoyed it. I brought my friends here telling them it was nice food, but this ruined the whole experience. Some of the food was nice, the hot beef sandwich was dry. Terrible management and attitude towards valuable customers, do not recommend.

Very welcoming staff, and immediately taken to our table which was just as well as the bar was occupied with 5 rather large (and noisy) guys spread out on the bar stools virtually occupying one full section of the bar. The menu is massive both in size and range, personally I disliked the A3 laminated illustrated menu. Chose from the hand written 'specials' section, and was not disappointed, good flavours and the portions were massive. Thursday night is quiz night, starting at 20.00...but not for us.

Overcharged by £12 for drinks and had to argue to be reimbursed ,sat on the seats to be enveloped by a cloud of animal hair. Does non look like it has been cleaned in month's, would definitely not eat there as wS absolutely filthy

We waited over an hour for food to arrive at the table and when it came it was very disappointing. Pizzas were burnt on edge but drooping and greasy in the middle, poppadom basket wasn't a poppadom and the fish goujons weren't cooked properly and the whole dish had way too much sauce on. Reported to management and was told it would be passed onto the kitchen, but management came back out of kitchen and went and sat with customers never returning to reveal what kitchen said. No reduction in price or apologies were given even though food wasn't cooked or burnt!!! Absolutely appalling and we won't be returning.

Always lovely food at causeway foot, the lamb and beef on the roasts are always cooked to perfection! Had steak pie today that was lovely too! Never had a bad meal here.

Today 1st May me and my family ate at the Causeway Foot. I was alittle sceptical due to reviews that I had read about animals and the food.....But I can honestly say we had the best food😋, the food was so warm, tasty and potions sizes were amazing. Plenty of beef and gravy on the Sunday dinner, mash and roasts. My husband loved the fish pie filled with prawns, salmon with creamy mash, the scampi and Fish had the nicest chunky chips and the starters were so huge and lovely worth every penny. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend and return again......

Overwhelmed with lots of quality well cooked food . The portions were great. I opted for my favourite steak pie chips n peas. The pie was huge and filled to the lid with chunky steak n gravey , the steak pulled apart, lovely . My wife jules had the roast beef and Yorkshire ,which consisted of thick sliced beef that fell apart with the fork, and roasties .excellent. This food n drinks will take some beating. The waitresses were welcoming and very hospitable Nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely return again soon Thankyou for a comfortable warm experience Regards Rich n jules

3 of us each enjoyed a 2 course Sunday lunch here today. Starters were amazing & tradional Sunday lunch (1beef, 1 pork, 1 lamb) with all the trimmings were gorgeous.

Finally had a meal in here after many years visiting and 10 years living nearby. I wasn’t disappointed and definitely will be back again. My main meal was very tasty and full of flavour which is a must for me. Food was presented very well and the lady behind the bar serving was a lovely friendly lady that just made me feel really welcome

Excellent pub with great food close to good walks at Ogden Water Park. Good selection of ales. Food was of high quality - had the vegetarian Indian sharing platter, breaded mushrooms and halloumi fries. The dressing and sauces on the dishes were full of flavour....

Called after being recommended. We chose from the ‘Sunday Menu’. Our starters were well presented and plentiful. My smoked salmon was mildly smoked fresh salmon and was lovely. For mains we had the fish pie and leg of lamb. Both top quality and delicious. Too...

What can I say but 5 stars been for an evening meal to celebrate my mums 80th birthday had very nice meal of which everyone enjoyed their meal and afterwards had some birthday cake been lots of times before and always been happy. Fantastic place to eat and drink and relax with friends in comfortable surroundings with brilliant staff. Prices are amazing too and beautiful food .

We have been here many times and stayed at the super caravan site nearby. We love that this pub is so dog friendly and can definitely recommend it.

I'm vegan, age 12 and I loved it. Food was amazing. I had pizza it came full of veggies and home made falafel. The chips were home made too.

This pub/restaurant is amazing. Warm welcoming staff. Areas for people with dogs. Well kept ales. But it’s the food that blew us away. Really good quality food. Food that’s imaginative, great ingredients and plentiful. Probably the best mashed potato I have ever tasted! Can’t wait...
