The best restaurants serving British food in England

Absolutely nothing to fault here. One of the best pub meals we have ever had. It was recommended by our Airbnb hosts and we are so pleased we tried it out. The Belly Pork and the Lamb Shank were both so well cooked, seasoned and served with ample sauce/gravy. The apple sponge pudding was so light and fluffy and the ‘special’ dessert of chocolate and brandy torte was perfect. The staff were welcoming, polite, professional and did everything to please. Well done, we may live 125 miles away but next time we visit York we will be back. Thank you.

Big portions, proper tasty meal

Had a two night stay at this little gem, the rooms are situated in an old listed building but are modern and spacious, the bathroom being huge with tub big enough for two, if you book direct with the hotel you get a wonderful breakfast included in room rate, we also had dinner here, small menu done perfectly and great cocktails, would I stay here again? In a heart beat. Also staff were lovely 10/10 My only suggestion would be to have a topper on bed as it was quite firm, but that’s personal preference.

Nice friendly locals pub, in the wilds of somerset, yes the grass will be growing up the middle of the road as you seek to find it but its a gem worth seeking out. Really good food and well kept beer

Freezing cold outside so had my food in the table part of the shop, which i may add was virtually empty. After two bites was told to take my take away outside quite abruptly. No option on paying an additional cost for sitting on a table.. very disappointing..

We visited this morning for a family breakfast and were served by Molly, who was delightful. She was attentive and friendly. A great morning out!

Had a fantastic afternoon tea for my birthday! Lovely atmosphere and welcoming service they made my day so special and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend!! Cant thank the staff enough, definitely going to come back again and try to the main menu it looks great

Can't fault this restaurant, everything was excellent

Very sorry it no longer exists. A shame. It was a great cafe & the prawn sandwiches were epic. Generous portions. Delicious & filling. We always thought the evening menu looked so tempting too, with imaginative options. Coming here was always a treat.

Family birthday celebrations. 3 course Sunday lunch for £25 great quality & a bargain to boot.
