The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

It’s not often you can say you’ve had a faultless experience but Sunday lunch here was genuinely exceptional. Wonderful attentive but discreet service, a beautiful setting and most of all, the food was cooked to perfection. The Indian-spiced fish cake was a particular highlight. Really child-friendly as well. This was a repeat visit and we will be back again, without a doubt.

Dad's 83rd birthday party but just found out he needs surgery on the Monday so has a list of things he can and can't eat which makes it difficult. But dad insisted. On arrival the owner and chef was sat down so I spoke to him and straight away said what ever he can have that we have i will prepare for him. And true to his word he did. That means a great deal to us as a family and was appreciated. Booked again for mums birthday

Lunch for 6 for Mother’s Day - excellent service despite it being busy, and food was fantastic, large portions cooked beautifully and very tasty. Couldn’t fit in a dessert, though if Sticky Toffee Pudding and a cheeseboard had been on the menu it may have been a different story… Would definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great village pub for anyone visiting the area

Nice fish and chips, was busy early evening so had a short wait for food but was worth the wait.

I’ve visited here twice now for so many reasons I can’t even list them all. From the start to finish, all staff are so friendly, relaxed and attentive. We had massages & facials booked with a big weekend stay package, and nothing disappointed us. The food, the drinks, the room, I left a tiny ring and glasses at the spa, within minutes staff had let me know they had left them at hotel reception. I can’t believe anyone would ever have a bad experience here, unless you hate absolutely everything. I love the decor, the staff are happy to chat, not just ‘serve’ you, nothing to strict or wooden the policies are relaxed as in you can use the spa as much as you want until you leave. Such a special visit, thankyou to Alyssa, Gabi and Andy who made our stay the best!!! You certainly get what you pay for.

Booze was a bit pricey, but great venue for a party.

Fantastic cafe with good food, friendly staff, and a lovely exterior with seating in a nice area. Serves a range of toasties, sandwiches, breakfasts items and other cafe food along with drinks and cakes etc.

We're local, within walking distance, and went to celebrate a birthday. We all had a variety of dishes and every one was cooked to perfection, with plenty available. The staff were very helpful and service was very good. Even though we'd had plenty we still sampled the desserts, again all different. And again all excellent with plenty available. Would recommend the ship with its good selection of main courses and desserts, friendly staff and very efficient. Thanks again team ship.

Beautiful historic building, excellent food at very reasonable prices. Friendly and welcoming staff. Mark and Mandy are just about to celebrate their first year in and are doing a fantastic job. Well done.

You aren't able to access 90% of the house but the garden is well worth the visit.

Stumbled into here whilst visiting the Rhubarb Festival and glad we did. Great to have so many veggie/pesce options. Really enjoyed our lunch and the rhubarb and cream cake was delicious 😋. We were unrushed even though the cafe was extremely busy and service was welcoming and friendly.
