Stayed overnight of the 12th September 2024 and we ate our meal in the bar and the food was absolutely lovely, we stayed in an en-suite room which had a very comply bed and really nice en-suite. The room was clean and well decorated. The bedding was warm and spotless with a tea tray with plenty of tea,coffee and milk etc. Breakfast was between 9-10 and was delicious, husband had the full English and I had pancakes with bacon, scrambled eggs and maple syrup. Highly recommend this place to stay, very quiet and lovely staff.

Ate here twice during our 2 week stay in the Whitby area, returning after having had a fabulous and very reasonably priced Sunday lunch. They offer a choice of tables in the bar area, or the separate dining area, which I’d suggest you ask for if you don’t like having the bar and sports tv in the background. Have read comments about locals making visitors feel uncomfortable - at the end of the day what do folks expect from what is ultimately a village pub! People we saw on both occasions were nice enough and said hello.

Was a nice place amazing food and modern bedroom but we were made to feel very uncomfortable staying here, the staff was lovely but that can’t be said for the locals that drink in this pub, we was stared at and made to feel like we don’t belong and overheard some saying homophobic comments which made us feel on edge the whole time we was there. We didn’t get much sleep as you can hear doors slamming all night long and cars from the carpark outside.

Looking for somewhere new to eat while visiting Whitby Taxi driver took us here, and it’s the best steak pie ever, they homemade and bursting with tender chunks of meat 10/10

After struggling to find anywhere in Whitby rang the Windmill who were able to accommodate us. The food was fabulous as most of the reviews say. But the staff on duty really made it worth while. The two ladies working were lovely, smiley and super welcoming. I would definitely recommend.

My wife and I had a Sunday roast dinner here at The Windmill Inn. We were not disappointed has to be one of the best we have ever had also great size portions The staff were also friendly and very helpful. And great value for money .We would highly recommend it but book your table in advance to save any disappointment. We will stop by again before the end off our holiday. 5 Star all around

Visited for dinner with a group of 10 friends. Made to feel very welcome. Good menu. All the food we ordered was well cooked, good sized portions and of excellent quality.

Stayed here for 1 night and couldn’t fault it. Room had everything we needed for the night. Very clean and modern. Had food in the restaurant in the evening and was very good and reasonable prices. Bar area busy but easily got a seat and lovely fire. Breakfast excellent, plenty of choice and well cooked. Would definitely recommend and stay if you are visiting Whitby .

Booked for an overnight stay as visiting Whitby. Nice place, staff really friendly and welcoming. Room was lovely, only small but is fine for a one or 2 night stay. Large bathroom with nice bath but could do with a shower too. There was an electric heater that did take quite a while to warm the room up so could do with being put on 2-3 hours before check-in. Bathroom had a radiator and a heated towel rail so we tried leaving the door open for the warmth to circulate but there was a draft so that didn't work 😄 I think there's a crack in the bathroom window which probably should be looked at ! Slept fine, it's a double bed but we're used to a king size so seemed a little on the small side. We ate in the restaurant, we had a table near the bar which was very busy, but the food was really nice, the portions are HUGE, I probably left just as much as I ate which was a shame really ! Breakfast was included, there was a selection of cereals and orange juice. Cooked breakfast orders were taken at the table along with coffee/tea orders. Hubby opted for the Full English and I had the Veggie, both nice. Breakfast was served in a separate dining room to where we ate the evening before. Free parking is available but it is quite limited. There is road parking but it's a country lane so not a huge amount of space. We walked into Whitby, took about 30 minutes and then got a taxi back which was £9.00.

Great homecooked meals, big portions and decent prices. Can definitely recommend the gammon and the mill burger. We visited during a trip to Whitby as wanted to eat somewhere other than our hotel, and this place did not disappoint. Fire was lovely too.

Gorgeous little hidden gem, staff very friendly, rooms clean and breakfast was absolutely beautiful.. not too far out of Whitby, £8 in a taxi. We will return again

What a lovely lunch we had in this village pub. Service was great very friendly staff. We all had Steak & Guinness pie with mash and veg absolutely delicious, the wine was good too Highly recommended we will be back

Called in for lunch en route to Whitby for a few days. Staff very welcoming. Only had sandwiches, but they were really nice, decent amount of filling on nice soft fresh bread. As with everywhere in Whitby you can take your dog which I usually have no qualms about but unfortunately on this occasion even though there were no dogs in the room the smell of wet dog was rather overwhelming and off putting

This place is about 3 mikes from the centre of Whitby, just off the Scarborough Road. Food is served either in the lively bar or quieter dining room. Menu not that extensive but full of good pub grub, plus a couple of specials per course. We visit Whitby most years (long drive from Kent) and the Windmill has been on our list for dinner regularly. Prices reasonable, selection of ales and friendly staff.

Great pub! Very busy both nights we were there.....obviously a popular local for the workers! Staff very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Will definitely go again if in the area!

A bit of a rocky start with some bad attitude at the very beginning of our visit. Our reserved table was in the bar area. We didn't complain, however with 5 kids in tow and the terrible language coming from the customers at the bar WE WERE ASKED if we would like to move. As the swearing got worse, we accepted only to hear hushed grumbling about how busy they are and to be huffed at. We asked if it was a problem in the end and they responded with "well it's done now." However, soon redeemed by some delicious food. The bar area was super busy so definitely book if you want to visit.

We arrived a little early and were waiting for two of the group (nine of us altogether) We had several children with us. It was a busy and noisy pub but although we were seated near the bar it was fine. We were offered to move to another room and I expressed we would decide when the rest of the party arrived. When we had all arrived we asked to move to the other room as there was a lot of bad language near the bar and we had several children with us. You would have thought we had asked for the pub to be closed for us!! The staff were rude and unhelpful, someone from behind the bar told us to F**k off somewhere else if we didn't like it,. Loads of fuss banging tables around in the other room. Things said among themselves like "it a busy pub, what do they expect!" "why do they want to move now! When asked if there was a problem we were told its done now so it doesn't matter if there was a problem! We would have left if the children were no so hungry. We got settled in the other room and the only polite member of staff was the lady who served us. The food was excellent, but because of the attitude we received we will not be returning. The two stars are for the food.

Friendly Staff poor Shepherds hut accomadation beds very very uncomfortable. The main bed uncomfortable the sofa bedeven worse.. Had a meal in the bar all home cooked and lovely staff friendly. Arrived on a whim… friendly and welcoming… ordered sandwiches with chunky chips and sweet potato fries… bread clearly fresh as.. creamy coleslaw, fresh salad with a lovely dressing.. lots of locals so clearly popular..

Absolutely outstanding. We visited today Sunday 23/07/2023. Last minute booking as plans had been kiboshed due to atrocious weather. It was my Uncle's birthday we'd been discussing visiting the Windmill for a while. Today was the day. 2 beef dinners and a child's scampi. Portions were spot on. The beef was cooked perfectly not leathery. The gravy was nectar. I could of taken a portion home. My Uncle is hard to please with food and he was thrilled. Thank you. See you again soon.

My husband, dog and I dropped in without booking. Very friendly helpful lady got us a table without any hassle. The pub around the bar area was busy but had a good atmosphere. We ordered our meals and were served very quickly. My husband had the gammon and I had the scampi. Both meals were first class and, as many people have said before on their reviews, the portion sizes were really good too. We had kept open minds about having a dessert but neither of us could manage one! This was our last night staying in nearby Whitby and we were gutted to only find this little gem now as I’m sure we would have visited it several times during our week otherwise. We have eaten out in the area a few times this week and this was the best by far. Can’t rate The Windmill highly enough. Hopefully we’ll be back some time in the near future.

We always eat here a few times when in Whitby as the food is great and the staff are lovely. Unfortunately, maybe because it's in the middle of nowhere, locals drink here and get very rowdy and noisy. We've been in with the grandkids and although it's been early in the evening there has been a lot of men stood in the bar area, shouting and swearing. Not great around kids! There are many regulars rolling in, straight from work in their workwear getting very drunk very early in the evening. Some nights were great, usually when the rowdy locals weren't in but obviously staff cannot police this. They apologise for the noise but it really spoils the place.
