Post Gate Inn in Scarborough

The food here is superb. Served hot on hot plates. We had Doreen's black pudding on mustard mash to start and that was tasty with a lovely sauce. The mains of monkfish with scallops outstanding and again a superb sauce plus a great range of fresh vegetables. Highly recommended.

Wow! What an amazing meal. We went at 7pm on a Sunday night. It was relatively quiet but had a good atmosphere. We decided here after looking at a few places, this was closest so it was here we went. And I’m so glad we did. The food was delicious. We had steak with Stilton, a land off the specials, white chocolate brûlée & the apple crumble. All of the food was cooked beautifully and had amazing flavour. The veg was lovely, not at all over cooked. There is a very talented chef doing the cooking here and we would recommend anyone to go. Will be back when we’re back in Whitby

A small restaurant with a big atmosphere and great food. On a recent holiday, we made two visits to the Postgate for dinner and were delighted with the quality of the food and size of the portions. The service was relaxed, friendly, efficient and did not make us feel we had to hurry up so they could get more diners to our table. A memorable visit for all the right reasons.

Homely welcoming pub with an excellent, unusual and creative menu. Everything is cooked to order which, understandably, takes some time. The service is friendly and efficient and the whole establishment has a lovely feel. Highly recommended for a meal with a difference in the Whitby area.

Extremely good home cooked lunches. Good menu choices. Best pub food I remember having. Quite a long wait but that shows it’s made to order, however it wasn’t busy on the day we went so I do wonder how they manage when it is. They could do with spending some time and money on the ladies’ loos which were clean but very tired.

Stayed for 3 nights. The room we had was not up to standard. The room needed updating and there were also maintenance issues, cracked window in bathroom and an electric socket hanging off wall. Food was lovely but was expensive. Staff were friendly and approachable

Fabulous dinner on the last day of our holiday... Friendly barman & helpful waitress - Good beer, convivial atmosphere and not too busy. Great way to end our Northern oddessey.
