Wellington Heifer in Hambleton

Fabulous food and service. We were on our way to the new Everyman cinema in Northallerton. Perfect spot. Really enjoyed the food, tried the fish pie, delicious went down well with a glass of pic poul white wine. We ate early evening. Place was nicely buzzing. Very friendly. Recommended.

Yet again a brilliant stay at a first class country Inn. Food and accommodation excellent with a very attentive host and his efficient team. I wouldn't hesitate to return here...its a highly recommended experience...home from home!

Stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast. Host Rob greeted us and showed us to our lovely ensuite room. Spacious, comfy and clean. We had a lovely meal in a cosy atmosphere. Rob and a waitress served us. Set menu 2 courses for £20 or A la carte. Food delicious, service excellent, can't fault it. Lovely glasses of wine complimented the meal. We saw Rob again in the morn, he cooked and served our breakfast which was very nice. You can have cereal, porridge, juice, tea/coffee and a cooked breakfast. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast and toast with coffee. Rob is a very attentive host, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended for a night away with some special food and service.

Lovely Valentine's treat with a stay in this delightful inn. We received a very warm welcome, had a cosy room with a big comfy bed and a decent shower. The room was nice and quiet with no disturbance from the pub. Food and service was excellent with delicious steak and venison and a good bottle of Tuscan red. Roaring fire to warm you up. Definitely recommend.

Chose the Heifer based on a recommendation from a friend living locally whilst we were visiting. Recommendation was based on the food, but pleased to find that they also do rooms with breakfast. Staff were expecting our arrival, room was clean and well presented. The roof is a little low but it's what you get in older properties. Dinner was excellent - friends had a sharing platter (baked Camembert, olives, hummus, charcuterie) and were delighted - we tried the burgers and they were really good. Desserts were lovely. Nicely kept beer (Black Sheep) and a choice of wine. Accommodation was comfortable (though no facecloths provided / no hairdryer) - a decent nights sleep as the locale quietened down. Breakfast was prompt and well presented - overall a good experience and we'd happily stay again

First impression - this place is comfortable and cosy with lovely fires to warm up the rooms. Much larger inside than expected. We ate from the set menu and god was it good! The best meal we have eaten for a long time, The Daube of beef was outstanding, no need for a knife the meat was so tender and succulent and the mash was beautiful. We wish we had room for dessert and we will certainly be back to try Sunday lunch. Thank you to the chef and the gent who waited on us. This place is fine dining and deserves any accolades it gets. Fabulous food from the Xmas menu and really reasonably priced. Some of our group stayed over and rooms were clean n not over priced

Just want to say thankyou for a lovely lunch. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and we loved our table next to the open fire, its was so cozy. We will definitely back and I would highly recommend The Wellington Heifer. I had the gravadlax to start and it was absolutely delicious. The slow cooked beef for mains with hosre raddish mash was very tasty, and the sticky toffee pudding sublime.

Short and to the point… PERFECT free house pub, great staff…amazing value and quality food… First time visit, gutted it’s not my local!

It is rare that all three courses in a meal deliver at super quality. We chose game terrine followed by beef daube, then sticky toffee pudding and chocolate mousse and pistachio cake for desert. The americanos to follow hit the spot too. Ingredients, presentation, and culinary approach are all worthy of high praise. As an early evening set menu and lunch option we can't imagine it could be bettered including on value for money. The setting is relaxed country pub with the right kind of spacing of tables to allow for quiet sharing of the experience. This was our first visit and we booked straight away for the Christmas menu and are really looking forward to that. We thank the team for such a perfect time and congratulate them on everything they are achieving. Chef deserves a special mention for serving up dishes that in their look and clean flavours would not be out of place in the best of restaurants. Fine dining in a welcoming rural setting. What could be better!

The service was great, we had three courses that came out perfectly timed. The food was interesting and delicious. My husband had the black pudding, fish pie and sticky toffee pudding. I had chickpea curry and the dark chocolate torte. The portion sizes were spot on, we came away satisfied but not stuffed. If we are in the area again we’ll definitely be back.

Great little country hotel just off the motorway, clean and well appointed rooms. The highlight of the stay was the welcome by the staff, first class We were in town for the Polar Express Christmas steam train that was a short drive away, well positioned and only a short drive away. Evening meal and breakfast was excellent with some fine Montepulciano at a reasonable price, for dinner obviously 😂 Would highly recommend

Called in on a wet and foggy November evening. Meeting my son who was travelling down from Newcastle. I was coming up from York, so halfway meeting point! What a wonderful find for us! Lovely food, great service and warm ambience in the bar/restaurant. Highly recommend a visit to this great food led pub. We will certainly be returning.

Fantastic place, and great customer service. Me, my wife, daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter stopped here for a meal whist waiting to go on the Polar Express in Bedale. We had a warm welcome from the staff and also a real fire in the hearth. We were really impressed with the menu choices but more impressed with the quality of our meals. Thank you and well done.

A friend was passing through and was staying there so we decided that this would be the place to eat. I sadly haven't been for a while for no particular reason, just life gets in the way. I had the curried potato soup followed by the lamb. The soup was something different and I really enjoyed it, the lamb was perfectly pink as it should be, the veg was al dente as it should be and the sauce thick and tasty as it should be. The service was prompt and with a smile as it should be, the local (ish) beer from the Yorkshire dales was chilled and not too cold as it should be. To top it off it was reasonably priced as it should be. What more can I say? It was always okay on the previous times I've visited but they have upped their game. A most enjoyable evening, I certainly won't leave it so long before I return.

Warmly greeted and shown to our room which was lovely, later had a drink and. then ordered a meal which was delicious.,staff where ever so nice .bed was really comfortable,and bathroom was 1st class , had breakfast which was also very nice ,highly recommend.

Fantastic food, friendly staff and lovely rooms. Perfect night away. We booked to stay here as we were competing our horse at the local equestrian venue and it looked like it would be a great place to stay and how right we were! A delightful place for a stopover. We had an evening meal here which was brilliant. The best steak pudding I have had. We booked the suite for our bedroom which was lovely and spacious and very clean with beautiful views of the church across the road. Wouldn’t hesitate to book the wellington heifer again when in the area. The owner Rob and also the young gentleman in the bar area who showed us to our room (sorry we didn’t catch your name) were both so friendly and accommodating. You won’t be disappointed if you book for a meal or an overnight stay.

A very nice lunch, tasty and well presented. Service was very good. I was very pleased with their gluten free choice on both the set and a la carte menus. Also a nice GF pilsner - but not on tap. As we are up on holiday, unfortunately will not be able to gothere again.

We stayed at The Heifer for 6 nights, it was comfortable, friendly, good breakfasts and we ate there a few times, the menu was varied and the food good. Rob, the owner is a friendly host who ensures every customer is happy. If we are in need of accommodation in Yorkshire again we will not hesitate to book in.

We went for our anniversary. The food was lovely. I had the duck which was spot on and my husband had a rib eye steak (it was a little over seasoned for his taste) but still delicious. COVID-19 might have put a stop to lots of things, but we can still get a treat from the Wellington Heifer! Rob has continued to serve a tasty menu of dishes available for collection. The kids especially enjoy a takeaway fish and chips with mushy peas. Support a local business and treat yourself!

Birthday Dinner Second visit here. First time last August, when got engaged. This time for my Birthday. I don't know why we don't come more often, its only 20 minutes away. Absolutely fabulous food. During Jan & Feb they have a 20% Facebook discount, which we didn't know about until we were there, it was offered to us Wow. The normal prices are very reasonable, so an extra bonus. Highly recommend and we will be back soon.PS. The staff are the nicest peeps around.

Me and my partner had a lovely stay in December for our anniversary, Rob the owner was very helpful with all of my enquiries and sorted us out with a lovely room. We also had some food during our stay which was delicious. We had accidentally left our phone charger there after we left but Rob kindly posted it out to us free of charge. Would highly recommend and be happy to stay again.

Three visits in 2 months, 2 lunches and 1 evening meal. The food is very reasonably priced and very, very good. The staff are attentive and friendly. Take advantage of the 20% off food for January, we certainly will!!

We have eaten several times here and have always been delighted with the meals. Tonight we had a yorkshire steak and a burger and chunky chips. Middle eastern orange cake and a chocolste and coffee mouse. Food was outstanding and staff are so helpful and friendly.

Find an excuse to travel to East Yorkshire. Near Northallerton in Ainderby Steeple is this wonderful pub with 3 rooms. Rob, the owner is a magnificent host and ensures that your stay will be memorable. The food is delicious and the room - we were in- more than comfortable. Wish there were more finds like this when we travel in the UK.

Overnight stay in Northallerton found me staying in this thoroughly charming village pubNice clean room , large comfy bed with crisp linen and modern bathroom. Food was really excellent! Interesting menu using all local produce treated with care to extract maximum flavourIt was worth the visit for the breakfast alone!Bacon that tasted like it used to do; none of the supermarket rubbish that we’re now sold. Same with the sausages - just fantastic. I really recommend this pub for a visit but make sure you book a table as the place was full even on a Monday nightCredit to the staff as well, very friendly and efficient service without being overly fussy

We had the best stay over at this hotel and was very suprised at the high quality of service food and cleanliness. You dont expect this kind of quality from a pub in the middle of no where. The food was spectacular cooked by a top chef definitly 5 star. The bedrooms were immaculate and the bed so comfortable. The staff were above and beyound average they were so friendly, welcoming and very helpful. We have already booked our next stay.

This was such a super place to meet relatives. It was a drizzly Sunday lunchtime and the pub is so warm and cosy. We had our 104 yr old grandma with us and the staff were very patient and kind. 2 of our party were over from Canada and loved the real English pub touch. Not to mentioned the splendid Sunday lunch. We had beef and lamb on the table, bupoth were delicious. Lovely veg, well cooked and unusual cabbage! Very very good value for money!!!! Not overly expensive at all.

Called in hoping there was a table for Sunday dinner, luckily there was one table left. In the small room near the kitchen. Lovely area for a family meal. I feel it speaks volumes when you walk into a busy pub restaurant and only have one table left means it’s all booked up for a reason. This was definitely the correct assumption here, the food was amazing from a fab menu of many different options not just traditional Sunday lunch in other pubs near by. Caters for all, children gf vegetarian fish eaters ect. Very lovely helpful staff willing to go out of their way to help and offer choices off the menu should we have needed it.

We stayed at the Wellington heifer last Friday night and would definitely stay again, Nothing was to much trouble, the manager was worth her weight in gold . We had the evening meal which was delicious and the breakfast was also very good . Would definitely recommend this place .

After a day walking in Nidderdale our walking group of 13 stopped on the way home for a meal. They'd asked us to phone the order in a day or two before which was fair enough for a large party. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, some commenting it's the best meal out our group has had (and the belly pork was to die for!). A warm welcome with good beer (Taylor's Landlord) and wine as well as efficient friendly service. Thanks Welly, you finished off a great day out.

After trying 2 other pubs both of which were closed despite their web sites saying they were open!we stopped here and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service top notch. We would certainly come again to try the a la carte menu.

Called in on our way back from Epping.really good service My hubby had the Sunday roast and I had the scampi really nice food 2 course special we both chose to have the dessert .the staff were very nice and our food was served without any long wait ,we enjoyed it very much .we like the location not far off the motorway about 10 mins at the most .worth trying .we would go back again

We were camping locally and booked the this local pub for the evening meal. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and were treated to great service throughout the evening. The food was lovely - main course and pudding - and so too were the lager and wine we had with the meal. First class!

I'd been here many a time for a drink but never had a meal so rang to check whether the Mediterranean vegetable tart was vegan, Unfortunately there's butter in the pastry but I was told the chef could offer me a choice so I had a stir-fry with rice noodles. It could have contained a greater variety of vegetables (and at this time of year some mange-tout peas would have been particularly nice) but it did contain lots of mushrooms, not the boring white variety either, and was very tasty so we'll definitely go back.

My partner and I stayed here for the weekend as we were going to a wedding at solberge hall. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it. The staff and owner rob were very friendly and looked after us. The ambience was nice.

First-class quick and friendly service with clearly marked gluten-free options. I chose a risotto followed by sticky toffee pudding, both GF and both excellent. Very impressed.

We regularly stay in and around the Northallerton area in order to visit relatives so finding the right place to stay at the right price is very important to us. At the Wellington Heifer we have found, on a consistent basis, the food is good, it is always clean and the staff and in particular Louise, are always very efficient and very welcoming. Rob, the landlord does an excellent job and it is well worth a visit.
