Really lovely food, the pie was homemade. We went on a lunchtime but not sure if there was a specific lunch time menu. The wine was £8.90 for a large glass which I think is expensive and a pint of Pepsi is £4.00 a glass.

We visited as a family for Sunday Lunch. My Mum was in a wheelchair and the staff made her more than welcome and catered for her needs. The Sunday Lunch seemed expensive (we chose ‘The Ultimate’ ) however when it came, it was absolutely delicious and worth the price. The service was exceptional and staff friendly . We plan to return every couple of months for Sunday Lunch

Been many times the food is absolutely delicious and service is excellent. Decided to go again tonight for a late valentines meal . Very well priced and all three courses were fault less I’d advise anyone to go you won’t be disappointed

We recently visited the blacksmiths arm and had an amazing meal, there is a really good selection on the menu and all of our meals were presented well and taisted even better than they looked. Everyone was so friendly, great service throughout, and a friendly relaxed atmosphere, we will certainly be back as there were so many meals I really want to try.

Lovely atmosphere, service, and food As we walked in and took our seat the girls behind the bar greeted us with a smile, good afternoon and welcome ✅ They took our drinks order as we got seated which was very efficient ✅ Came and brought our drinks to us, another tick ✅ One of the girls took our order(fillet of salmon, pie of the day-steak n ale, and fish fingers for the little one Didn't have to wait long(half a pint wait) and tucked into our food which was good Everyone was happy and it was plentiful other than the salmon fillet Definitely recommend this place and we would happily go back Only issue was the bill were they added a service charge automatically which for me and my opinion I would like the option of tipping if I feel the staff, food, atmosphere, service was worth it. A tip shouldn't be automatically granted, you have to work for that.

We went for a dinner before new years, the service was so quick which gorgeous food and produce. The bartender was so lovely! Would recommend to anyone :)

So sad to see how this place has deteriorated over the last few years. This place is no longer value for money because of the price rise in food and drinks . Dogs allowed anywhere in the building even the women's toilets. It's not worth visiting anymore I've came here for years but not now. £15 for a half parmo and 10% on your bill I can see this shutting like the beautiful pub in North Stainley

We went to the blacksmiths arms for the Santa Special. We got a very tasty breakfast with smaller options for the kids. Santa greeted each of our children and gave them both a little present. We were well looked after and nothing was a trouble. Great entertainment for the kids and they enjoyed a play in the beer garden play area before we left. We will be back next year! Thank you all!

Chose The Blacksmiths for a birthday dinner last weekend. First visit. Being a cold January evening the pub was not busy so although we had booked, there was ample availability if we had not. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The ambience was typically country pub - log fire, warm, good range of ales, comfortable dining area. Food - fresh, hot, plentiful portions. We had a lovely evening and I’m sure we’ll visit again soon.

Wonderful warm ,friendly,accepting dogs,good selection of beers/lagers. Open all day, everyday,fully recommend.

What a lovely surprise, really responsive on Messenger to book a table on NYE. Amazing service from Catherine, fabulous table, we were really well looked after. The food was sooo fresh and tasty, the onion rings were to die for and the fish pie was gorgeous! The sticky toffee pudding was the best we’ve ever tasted 🤩 Really attentive service even though it was really busy. We’ll be back!

Hosting our family from America, 11 of us came for pre show food. Staff here are so great, very attentive and helpful. The log fire was burning, the food was so fantastic, traditional English pub food! Our 8 year old nephew spilt his drink over his trousers and they were tumble dried for him! Onwards to the show got more festive family fun! Thanks April xx

Came for Christmas dinner with the whole family. Great service and great food. In particular, catherine came across as kind and welcoming.

Just visited 18/12/24 food was average, price was ok . The 10% automatically added to bill was my issue . Hence won't be going back .

Visiting the village and was not disappointed when stumbling across this gorgeous pub, lovely vibe inside very homely and a warm open fire. The service was fantastic with happy welcoming start, the food was fresh, hot and had everything you could ask for. Could definitely tell it was proper home made food and not frozen or from a bag. Pork belly was gorgeous it wasn’t too sweet it was perfect and fell apart. Blacksmiths pie was delicious and the gravy with the chips on the side were fantastic. Well worth every penny, thank you and we will be back soon!

Probably the best pub meal I have ever had. Salmon fillet was amazing. Can’t fault anything. Dog friendly too. Carlos looked after us really well.

Excellent food, but if you want a dessert, don't have a starter, you won't have room. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Carlos very attentive and helpfull. Will definitely return.

We visited this pub for a family dinner while on holiday in the area. The food was tasty but nothing special and extremely overpriced for what it was. A 10% service charge was added to our bill without any prior mention of one which just isn't a thing for generic pub food, especially since the service here was pretty basic, a little slow even. As the service charge was not mentioned, even when handing us the bill, it made us feel like it wasn't optional and therefore we felt we could not ask for it to be removed despite being unhappy about it. We had mains, puddings and 2 drinks each for 2 adults and a teen and the bill was more expensive than some fancy restaurants we've been too. It's just not worth it. We were also sat in an area of the pub where there were dogs at tables barking at everyone who walked past which wasn't exactly a pleasant experience (we did not request dog friendly dining). Overall we left feeling robbed and disappointed with our experience here.

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Proper home cooked delicious food. Staff are great. Best part is the pub is dog friendly inside. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area!

Without a shadow of a doubt the worst meal I’ve had in my 50 years Ordered and paid for the food order before it was served my mixed grill arrived without the eggs that I requested the bill has charging me a service charge that I asked to be removed on notifying the landlady that I wasn’t happy with the chips was given a feeble excuse that the potatoes supply was no good and that was the problem causing them to be so soggy totally fobbed off. Tryed to suggest how the chips could be improved as I know how to cook in a commercial environment and the owner was uninterested and then five minutes later returns for the final insult with more soggy potatoes and some potato wedges totally saturated in rancid cooking oil as a compensatory gesture total rip off avoid at all cost going to try to be refunded for my meal and service charge Wish me luck!

Amazing pud. Food is great and the service is excellent. We have been a few times and Catherine always welcomes us with open arms. The atmosphere is very nice both during summer and winter. Very family friendly. I would highly recommend it.

2nd time this week eating here whilst on holiday in the area. First time was ok but not great but put that down to our choices and personal taste. 2nd time tonight was truly awful. Wouldn't think much could go awry with homemade pie and chips - wrong. Pie was tasteless, gravy tasteless and watery, peas like bullets and the chips - what is it about chips in this area? Dark brown and soggy, is that a Yorkshire thing? Then to add insult to injury a 10% "service charge" was automatically added to the bill!! Definitely would not waste our money there again.

True home cooked tasty food. Makes a lovely change from the normal pub chains microwaved tasteless offering. Our second visit and we'll be back. Excellent - 5 stars.

We are here in Swainby on week long break, we decided to try this pub as its Dog Friemdly 🐕 the staff are very friendly, great atmosphere n made to feel very welcome, and to top it off the food is excellent 👍🏿Thank you A+++

The lunch was very enjoyable but the service was poor. We had to keep getting up for things as we had clearly been forgotten about. The blonde middle aged waitress was very abrupt and unfriendly. We won't be returning because of this. Such a shame as it has the potential to be good. In this day and age service is key. This place was very poor with service

Nice pub and beer garden food very good staff friendly only down side for me is the 10% service charge that is put in your food bill which should be up to the customer to give their tip if justified a lot of places are doing this now which I think is wrong.

Really nice pub with an enormous beer garden. Roast beef sandwich and chips was excellent and Milo definitely enjoyed his sausage!

Haven't been here for a while but always enjoyed coming here. So booked for my daughters 16th birthday meal & we ordered the parmesans & vegetable lasagne. The food was all luke warm. The chicken parmesans were rubbish ( they used to be really nice! Couldn't believe the garlic bread starter we got to share.. it was tiny & looked like something cheap & nasty out of the freezer in iceland. The potato skins were the best thing we ordered. We were all soo disappointed... won't be going back there in a rush. Not sure If its been taken over but bar staff weren't very friendly & welcoming either.

Came here for a family meal. Food was nice, apart from one starter which was the prawns ..... one skewer, one half sliced cherry tomato and a bit of leaves 🙄 It was very POOR (pic included)!!

Food was amazing definitely deserved 5 stars. The gravy was the best I've ever tasted and the chips crispy but not dried out. Overall service was amazing and the entire staff deserve a pat on the back.

Love the food here, its a little pricey almost £20 for Sunday lunch, only go occasionally but it is always very enjoyable and they do Lamb! Plus the staff are very friendly and attentive

Excellent Sunday lunch and couldn’t be more accommodating. We called for a booking for Mother’s Day a party of 10 so friendly and helpful even got a high chair for granddaughters teddy ! The lunch was exceptional and plenty of it we all then decided on desserts and the fruit crumble was amazing. Definitely be back soon.

Myself, my parents and my son went for Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day yesterday, the lunch was lovely and fresh, my mam said the beef was beautiful and tender. 3 of us had the biscoff cheesecake which was recommended, my dad said it was the best cheesecake he has ever had, my son who is a fussy eater also ate all of his. I had the ice cream with the hot butterscotch sauce and would definitely recommend! The pub/restaurant was busy with it being Mother’s Day but all the staff where very friendly and attentive to everyone. We will definitely be coming again, thankyou!

Going out for a birthday meal. We found this place due to its ability to cater for gluten free and having booked for the steak on a stone we were looking forward to something a little different.. And as we were not from the area this was a new place for us to try. On arrival the place looked well presented and looked like a nice place to eat. We were taken to our table, where we were given a A4 laminated piece of paper with options on: we asked about the steak on a stone and told 'no were not doing that now' Somewhat dissapointing as we had booked under that intention and assured on booking. The table was dirty and sticky from previous, and cutlery dirty also. Everything just felt wrong and not the place we had hoped from first impressions. It's the little things but when they add up it's a no from me. We decided to have our drink and find somewhere else to eat. We were staying to be dissapointed further. Minimal staff interaction also and no explanation as to why a week earlier we could book for what we wanted then to turn up and be told no. This place definitely needs some fine refinement and it could be a very nice place to have a meal.

Stunning Restaurant, Food was Amazing, best mixed Grill I have ever had!!

After being served with dirty crockery and a miniscule serving of tea the lady was downright rude and disrespectful stating "well there is always one", as if I was to blame. The fact that our party of approx, 20 spent well and were patient and good natured seemed to be wasted on this pompous hostess.

Nice cosy pub with a big garden (for the summer). Good choice of Mains, Light Lunches and Specials. Three different meals were all good quality and tasty and the service was first class. The only downside is the added service charge which, of course, is optional but how many people knock it off? Overall, good and will return.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here yesterday. They managed to squeeze us in last minute (table of 9!). Food was amazing and so was the service. A lovely "home feel" pub, we will definitely be returning.

Had an excellent lunch, mince and dumplings on 26th Jan 24. Service was 1st class and the pub/restaurant was very homely.

Food is excellent and imaginative not the usual boring pub fair

This is pub food with a difference. For the main courses we opted for standards - a burger and lasagne. Both were good quality with their own individual twists which included much appreciated generous bacon and cheese on the burger and a comparatively pasta light and meat oriented version of beef lasagne. Thoroughly enjoyed. The starters generated a little bit of choice envy when the seared king prawns dish scored the major wow factor. Interestingly the tempura prawns with a very light batter were a close competitor. Both dishes were shared so nobody missed out on any of it. While this is a solid pub menu with a lot of choice we particularly appreciated the culinary fusion of creations and flavours. Relaxed atmosphere and welcoming service throughout. A dining experience that could definitely be repeated often to relish favourites as well as sampling new dishes. Compliments on the whole package which is out of the ordinary in good ways. We'll be back.

Great food and lovely staff The only thing that let's it down is that added tax on the bill you don't know about. 5 in our party we tipped 10 pounds then saw we'd been charged 17 pounds extra on the bill for service tax!!.

We went to this pub yesterday for Sunday lunch and we were very impressed. It’s a really nice cosy pub and the staff were all so polite and helpful. We both ordered a starter of chicken liver pate followed by beef with all the usual veg and Yorkshire puddings. In all honesty, next time we will order one portion of pate to share because it came with far more toasty bread than you usually get and we ended up asking to take quite a lot of the pate home with us. The pate was to die for, as was the excellent chutney. It was served with rocket and other leaves which were crisp, fresh and delicious. The main course wasn’t far behind and it was piping hot. The beef was so tender and tasty and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The gravy which was plentiful tasted incredible. It’s our first time and certainly won’t be the last that’s for sure.
