Yesterday visited Toft Gate Barn for lunch, ordered a bacon & brie on white with salad, coleslaw & crisps, sweet potato fries followed by a slice of raspberry & coconut cake. The view across Nidderdale is fantastic & the food was absolutely delicious 😋, the staff were all lovely especially Leila who made us feel very welcome, we will be visiting again soon 😃

We stopped for lunch and we're glad we picked Toft. Our friend and I had the Parsnip and Carrot Soup. It was delicious! My wife had the Quiche of the Day which she raved about. A great place to enjoy if you're in the area.

Very poor indeed, offered no choice on the bread, just gave us cheap white sliced without any explanation, when questioned they said they had no bread buns ! at 12-30 pm and hardly anyone in, Also there is a bakery in both Pateley Bridge and Grassington, get off your backsides and get some, no excuses at all. Give this place a miss

Reading the couple of bad reviews on here baffles me. I try to visit this lovely little hidden gem monthly and I am yet to be disappointed. Today I had a beautiful salad off the new menu and it was absolutely delicious. My daughters painted as they had pots to go pop up there and they also got to see the gorgeous farm kittens and peacock wandering around. They didn’t have what my daughter wanted for lunch on the menu but they were so accommodating and met her request. All staff were polite and couldn’t do enough. If you haven’t sampled the cake counter you’re missing out.

The waitress service was fine but the food was inedible and not worth the expense. We had a hot beef in gravy roll with chips but the beef was tasteless shredded and tepid in a cheap soft white roll served cold. The chips looked revolting being dark brown, greasy and tepid, which we left untouched for fear of gastric regret! Not at all what we’re used to or expect in Yorkshire, which is generally renowned for great food. We would suggest you drive on past.

I’m not a picky eater, I’ll eat up just about anything – especially when hungry, as we were when we arrived around 2 pm seeking a hot lunch (4 options), but my meal was among the worst I’ve ever been served. I ordered the hot beef with gravy (11;95), and got 2 rather thickish slices of spongy beef (?) seemingly boiled (?) and so tough, they were difficult to cut and even more difficult to chew. No gravy so I called over the server and asked for some, and it was provided - not much flavour and heavy on starch. Chips were skin-on – might have been nice had they not been cold and soggy. My partner had the steak pie (16.95), modest size and came with the same soggy chips. Said it was OK but he wouldn’t order it again. Stepped outside in the rain to enjoy the lovely views then drove on, looking for a spot to have a bite to eat. Lovely spot for a cofee though, had we stuck to that!

Such a fantastic place for coffee and cake! We topped a gorgeous winter walk in nidderdale with a trip to an old favourite and it lived up to expectations. Our last visit was probably pre lockdown and we so enjoyed going back. Great service, wonderful cakes and a view to die for, there cannot be many better coffee shops in the country! This is a great spot for a mid walk spot and recharge of the legs and batteries. We'd been out hiking and this lovely cafe/farm shop is open everyday (thankfully). We had a restorative tea/coffee and cake which was served by lovely friendly staff. Of course it was also dog friendly. The views across the dales were lovely and so peaceful. Visited Sunday morning for breakfast with family, we actually booked as we had 2 babies with us. The venue is stunning but the service is a huge let down we waited over 50 mins for our food! And it wasn’t that busy, when it finally arrived no sorry for the delay just a grumpy young lady put it on the table and walked off!! I had scrambled egg on toast! It was so over cooked and spongy it was hard to digest! I didn’t eat it all, my mother left most of her cremated bacon sandwich and my sisters full English was just so over cocked and microwaved the sausage was solid! Such a shame as we had heard good things we must of gone on a bad day but over £50 for four of us having breakfast o expected more! Won’t return sadly!

He came back to our table to say manager offered us more drinks but after my experience we said we wouldn’t be drinking another hot drink, but we were not even offered a refund for the scone!!! We had read lots of reviews and were really looking forward to trying here! Really disappointing!!! Will not be returning

You can easily see the precautions taken given the current climate, and the instructions were really easy to follow. My only concern was from a data protection point of view that the test and trace solution was a book of people’s names and numbers left unattended by the door. Other than that it was great, easy check in QR code, one way system clearly marked, lots of signs calling for mask use and hand sanitiser for use. The staff were lovely and welcoming. They sanitised our table for us to sit by the window which gave us a beautiful view to enjoy lunch with. We have a few dietary restrictions and requirements and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful with this, really put us at ease and made the visit easy. The food arrived quickly and was lovely. We had soup of the day with gluten free bread (which wasn’t an option on the menu but staff were happy to help out with this) and the quorn sausage sandwich with a portion of chips. All absolutely delicious. I take some peoples point about the slightly high pricing, but if a beautiful building in a remote area with stunning views, friendly staff and lovely food isn’t a reason to charge a slight premium I don’t know what is.

Having seen this cafe on the tv thought we would pay it a visit. You can tell it is a fairly new venture by the entrance, road in and car park in comparison to those “farm” cafe’s that are long established but once inside it has a really nice atmosphere with a cracking view across the Nidd Valley. There is an excellent choice of drinks & cake plus hot food. We stopped for our main meal of the day and chose the pork pie (local butchers) mushy peas and homemade freshly cooked chips for £6.60. Not only very good but excellent value. Staff were nice too. I am sure 5 stars will come but still little things to improve eg no condiments on the table, you have to ask. Toilets very nice but no lighting on and it was a bit of a grey day. A bigger sign at the entrance would help, also the colour means you can fly by and the road can be busy so easy to miss. We made an effort to find it and but will go again.

Having read the reviews of other travellers, I can only assume that our visit was the exception and not the norm. Although there were plenty of staff around, tables indoors were not cleared so we decided to sit outside to have scones and tea. The scones were poor & tasteless- they didn't appear to be freshly made- perhaps they had been made with either a scone mix or had been previously frozen. I was surprised to see that after the server brought the scones etc, she didn't bother to clear the table next to us and this, with other outside tables, remained uncleared during out visit. On the plus side, the views from the café are stunning.

Whenever we are in the area we visit here, the bacon and sausage sandwiches are excellent quality, always a varied selection of cakes, lovely coffee and a great view. What more do you need

We often stop off at this lovely converted barn cafe when walking in Nidderdale or Wharfedale way. The cafe offers a good range of scones, cakes & more substantial meals. Really helpful staff - offered to make us cheese & tomato on toast, even though it wasn't on the menu! Delicious scones too, with a good cup of tea, all served in and on very nice tableware. Lovely views from the tearoom windows - and also from the terrace, which is open in good weather.

Great breakfast sandwich (bacon and egg), nice tea, coffee and cakes. Lovely, cosey place but service is a bit slow.

After a lovely Autumn walk along the Nidd, we discovered that most of Pateley Bridge is closed on Mondays therefore six of us popped up the hill to Toft Gate for lunch. We're very pleased that we did.... great service, great food, stunning views and value for money. They couldn't do enough to look after our friend with special dietary requirements. We all ordered and enjoyed a mix of full meals and sandwiches ... all of which were delivered quickly with a smile. We bought a couple of beautiful scones to take home.... which they sealed in plastic Tupperware tubs for us ... even including some butter. We'll definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Great find high up the dale above Pateley Bridge. Simple breakfast menu offering high quality food served by lovely attentive and friendly staff. Menu a little pricey but the food was first class. Great old authentic farm building with excellent panoramic views, free parking, toilets and various locally sourced things to purchase. Worth a drive out!

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

After driving around the Yorkshire Dale's, we were in need of a drink and snack. We came across this lovely little tearoom and we weren't disappointed, quirky and quaint I would say, very friendly, great value for money too.

Fantastic place. Roll with bacon and sausage was lovely. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming here on caving trips for 25 years and always either start or finish the day in Inglesport. Love it. The only thing I'd say... bring back the pints of tea!!! And please don't ever stop doing the tiffin, it is the best on the planet.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.
