The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

We’ve been to McCallum’s Bank End Farm shop and Cafe for lunch. The farm shop is excellent, with a great choice of fresh produce so we stocked up on a few essentials like pork pie, cake and salad! We had lunch in the cafe, the guys had steak pie, chips and peas but I forgot to take a photo until they had almost finished eating 😞. The girls had home made lasagna, and quiche with salad. Everything was tasty and great value! I would have liked the meal to be served on hot / warm plates as everything cooled down quickly, and the coffee was not as hot as we like it, but other than these minor points, we enjoyed our lunch and will visit again soon!

Christmas lunch was the worst ever food quality served for a premium price. The turkey was dry and rubbery, potatoes were black in the middle with little gravy. The Christmas pudding served was absolute disgusting, it couldn’t be eaten, made with some kind of cheese sauce. We complained, but no answer given or explanation to my email, absolutely disgraceful! DONT BOOK TGE CHRISTMAS LUNCH 2025

Ok for a coffee but the staff were terrified of any customers. Not allowed to use the toilet. Long wait for coffee. Shouted at to wear masks we were already wearing. Seemed paralysed by fear - I would avoid even trying to sit inside. They were happy for people to sit outside. Though it was raining hard. Such a shame as a delightful village and would have been a nice break from our walk.

Had a flying experience today at Netherthorpe Airfield and it was brilliant. John, my pilot, was really friendly and flew expertly. He gave me lots of info all the time of where we were and even flew over my house so I could see it from the sky. John made the experience all the better and I highly recommend it. Netherthorpe Airfield is a lovely place and great when you can get something to eat and drink in The Skyways Bar and watch the planes taking off and landing.

Tenía un bocadillo muy sabroso. Tikka De Pollo. Un montón de sabor y buen café. Un poco de cola en hasta pero bajó lo suficientemente rápido.

breakfast box review: egg undercooked , Black pudding not cooked enough , fried (cheap) bread that was more like toast , hash brown was OK (had better) bacon (cheap bacon) was OK (again had better) , mushrooms were nice and the Fanta lemon I bought was nice i didn't touch the beans or tomatoes so can't comment on them the staff were nice though

Stayed at this hotel and had dinner here in the evening. Lovely cocktails to start for me and my daughter. Wine and meal were very nice. Every thing presented well. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff pleasant and efficient. The bread brought to each table with olive oil and balsamic at the start of the meal is exceptional. To follow, I had pate, fish and chips and rhubarb posset. All lovely. Breakfast in the orangery around the olive tree is lovely too. Light and airy. We will be back

I didn’t get it! The app claims that I did but I haven’t gotten anything

Ordered two meals from the senior menu offering either 2 or 3 courses. Placed order for first course which arrived in good time. Meal seemed good value. Went to order our desert and was told we had only paid for one course. On checking, we had only been charged for one course even though there is no option for this on the senior menu. We accepted a misunderstanding was made and requested to pay the extra to add a pudding. We were told this was not possible as the desert order had to be placed at the same time. After reasoning that there is no option to order a one course meal on the menu, we were told that the terms and conditions stated you had to order courses together. On checking the menu, including all the T and C's on the back (we have photographs), Nowhere does it indicate a price for a single course Or, that the 2nd course has to be ordered at the same time. Aware that most restaurants like an opportunity to be made aware of any issues, we asked to speak to the manager and she advised that she was the manager and would not entertain any further discussion. Very disappointing service and a manager with no common sense. Quoting lines from a menu that don't exist. Owner of Rockingham arms must also accept responsibility for not making menu clearer. A sham of a restaurant that can't even serve two scoops of ice cream right.

Nice place. Dog friendly and with a direct access to the park

We come quite frequently and almost have The Chicken Burger. Beef Burger or the Steak Salad.. We will be back. Brilliant pub. Definitely recommend.

We been going for years but tonight absolutely rubbish service , one waitress stood about a ll time we was there ,been waiting 20 minutes so asked manager if I should go to bar and order he said he would take it , food arrived and was really good so we ate dinner and waited for any signs of life, all I saw is waiters disappearing or busy doing nothing, I appreciate they were busy but at least 2 people were stood about it was annoying so I asked one for a desert menu and she said sure one minute 15 minutes later nobody came so I pulled someone and asked for bill 20 minutes later nothing!! So my wife payed at bar and we left, not going back again and I use to recommend all my friends but not anymore

This little gem is not to be missed. It's a great atmosphere, with young people who are learning their trade in hospitality. Great food overseen by a professional chef and front of house lead by manager John. Always a pleasure and we have never been disappointed. Give it a try, I'm certain you will enjoy the experience.
