Always go this bar when visiting bridlington very friendly and old fashioned but traditional great food great beers and george is really friendly and talkative keep up the great work george👍👍👍👍

Absolutely disgusting the owner was so rude and fed up with it. came in a few times for benefit of the doubt but so rude everytime honestly don’t come here. unless you’re a regular or from this area. last time i came in said i “should be barred” after asking the bar staff politely where my money will go after being robbed by the fruit machines. i work in hospitality and have done for past 6 years and the owner is absolutely horrible wouldn’t recommend going unless the isn’t there…. lol so disgusting said she would “take me outside” after crying over a 60 year old woman i work with collapsed and banged her head so i was upset. but she said she would “fight me” after i was crying my eyes out. went to scarborough hospital for 6 hours. !!!!!AVOID THE OWNER!!!!!!!

use to like going here for something to eat but not anymore. prices have gone up and the portions have been cut. service has never been good. it is not good value anymore and the place is rundown. wont even bother having a drink in there anymore.

Came for breakfast, we were warmly welcomed by George who helped us choose a fantasic breakfast. The service was outstanding and the breakfast is well worth the money. The service is a 5 star performance from all the staff involved. Thank you team.

Food here is delicious, but the wait is ages, far to big menu, portions are far to small, we both could have eaten it again, I like to say it was cheap eat but at 8.95 for a roast with 1 slice of beef, 1 little Yorkie, 2 tiny roasties, 1 teaspoon mash, peas not value for money, the pub had signs about saying no children allowed in the bar but the bosses grandchildren were running about all over. Not good

We first called in here with family who live in Bridlington , we all got served and went into a quiet back room where it was quiet and comfortable so a large party could enjoy each others company and anecdotes , all the chairs / seats did not match but were more than comfortable , the drinks were reasonably priced for a restaurant bar , the building and its decor were obviously dated but clean , we enjoyed drinks here for 3 nights and on our final morning we had the breakfast , it was huge , and for £ 5.95 it was good value , and with a cracking pot of tea , looking at the menu board we were impressed with the dishes on offer and we will definitely eat here next time we come to Bridlington , the staff were chatty and friendly .

If you want cheap drinks then this is the place to go but I wouldn't recommend as a place to stay. The staff were nice enough but the rooms are very dated and not very clean.

Breakfast was excellent, good choice, served by happy cheerful staff, treated as equal whether as hotel resident or just for breakfast

We have been coming here for 20 years and love it,we have a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the sea ,good home cooked food and very good breakfast,lovely and clean and the staff are so nice and friendly,it’s like home from home,we see the same staff and they are like one happy family,the young lass that we saw last week even carried our cases up for us,Joan who owns it is lovely ,couldn’t be better and we can’t wait till we come back in two weeks,thank you everyone for making our stay really enjoyable once again xxx Kitty and Mick Maloney ( room 18 ) xx

Friendly staff loverly spacious clean room with a beautiful balcony sea view looking at the sea .Breakfast was spot on.

Place was completely empty. Not impressed at all and 1 tea bag for 2 people and no spoons... really!! good job we didnt want sugar. The tables to both sides of us wanted cleaning

This was the only place we could get into to sit inside for lunch today as Brid was very busy. The service was friendly and the tables well spaced. We had the minced beef pie and mash and it was very tasty and good value. There were quite a number of elderly people sitting alone and having Sunday roast so I guess local people are their regulars and it is a bit dated in places. The toilets weren't great and are ready for a refurb

This is quite out of character for me, but I have nothing positive to say. I will also accept if the review is not published by Tripadvisor as we did not stay here or eat here. We went into eat, but were left standing un attended for some time. As if, if you were not a local, you did not exist. Finally got a table and again seemingly ignored. It was a t that point we upped and left. So I can only rate the service. There was none.

We held our wedding reception in the function room everyone had a great time and the food was great we were very pleased Would recommend

Great location but that’s @bout all that’s positive. Unbearable bright LEd lighting, the cold white bulbs make it as welcoming as a morgue, combine that with the stale smell of cooking oil and you’ve got a real winner. Staff nice and friendly, beer ok, but could be so, so much better. What a shame.

If you just want a pint in a typical English bar or even want to have a go at Karaoke on the week end this is the place, just opposite the Brid Spa lovely local people out ont town for good night out.

God food and reasonable priceses good entertainment easy to get to walking distance of town center and frienly staff.

Looking for somewhere to eat before a show at the Brid Spa, saw this place opposite which had some outdoors seating so we chose here, as my friend has just had an Op and couldnt walk far.First problem was they didnt take cards - cash only - so I had to go and get some cash out as we both only had cards.The Menu is very basic, not a great deal of choice - there are a few basics which are 2 for £7.95.We ordered a Steak Pie with Mash and a Ploughmans. Price was good under £10 for the two. The wait however for the food was not, there didnt seem to be that many people waiting for food, but it took almost 45 minutes - ordered at 17:30 food came about 18:15.The Ploughmans was Ok, not a traditional Ploughmans, it was two pieces of cheddar, some lettuce, couple slices of cucumber and tomato and then four little paper pots coleslaw / piccallili / pickled onions and one other I cant remember what that was. There was also a piece of baguette. It was good enough value and it filled a hole.My friend said that the Steak pie was nice (apart from the large crust being dry) but the meat was tender and not gristly at all.WARNING - The ladies loos are RANK - think there were 3 cubicles, one appeared to have someone in or the door was just locked. The end one was full, poo smeared around the bowl and rammed with paper - obviously not checked for a while. The middle one, I used was not great, it was dirty, untidy, scruffy little room, the toilet itself looked like it hadnt had a brush down it for months. I told my friend not to attempt the ramps to go through the Hotel with her hip. If Id have seen the loos before ordering, we probably wouldnt have.Its a shame it isnt being made to meet its potential, opposite the theatre it could make a killing, with better, higher quality, higher costing food and would do very well.

As we were going to a concert at the Spa we thought it looked handy as it was directly across the road. After ordering our meal we heard them say to somebody there was a 30 minute wait, so we waited after 40 minutes I asked where our food was it’s next she replied, so we waited 5 minutes later I asked again it’s coming they replied so we waited eventually after a 50 minute wait it finally came, OMG I wish we hadn’t waited. I had ordered scampi it came so hard and shrivelled I couldn’t of eaten it do I said this is burnt she said I know it is we are going to bring you some more!! Why put it on in the first place then I replied. After 10 minutes and no more brought I finally asked for my money back. The other 2 people with me struggled with there’s and ate half of it, so glad there were ice creams in the Spa and the show was excellent!!!

Called in for a quick drink, ended up staying all night. Great atmosphere with karaoke at the weekends. Lots of friendly locals.

Can't review the hotel because we didn't stay there but we did eat in the restaurant and the food was delicious and plentiful....served piping hot by a pleasant waitress and it did't cost an arm and a leg....... what more can you ask for!!

Great pub food and a very reasonable price. Drinks are also very well priced. Lots of space with separate rooms so even when music on, it's possible to find quiet spot to chat.

If you are looking for home made food at great prices then this is a great place to eat. We have been regular visitors for several.years. Good is always freshly cooked and servedrved hot. Our favourite is chicken and mushroom pie with chips and veg. The gravy here is so rich and tasty. Fish pie is good, as is cottage pie. OAPs can order a two course roast and pudding at a very cheap price.

We eat here when we want some good home cooked food. We must have eaten here about 20 times in the last 5 years and we have never had a bad meal. Lovely chicken and mushroom pie with thick, rich gravy and great thick hot chips. The fish pie is good too but I wish they served a different veg to lead as the pie already has peas in it. Great value.

They do meal deals, 2 for £7.95 very good value.Well cooked, can recommend the liver and onions. Karaoke nights were fun.

Visited here Saturday and the man taking orders was arrogant asked what was on breakfast and he just chucked about 20 menu's on the bar and the mega breakfast wasn't mega 1 little mushroom no butter for toast, menu doesn't explain what you get in the breakfast didn't bring sauce out so had to ask for it, the man didn't seem happy to go back and get them. He was not polite at all won't be going again

We visited Bridlington yesterday 9/8/18 and called into this pub with my 3 children and my mum for food close to tea time, the pub wasn’t really busy. Initially all was fine, we were seated in the family room as we had a buggy and children, Mum went to the bar and ordered food & drinks. To cut a long story short...almost an hour later we were still waiting for our food, a family that had arrived after us had there’s brought out, another family had been waiting 40 minutes. My children were hungry and irritable, we’d had 2 drinks whilst waiting, the waitress came in and asked if i was waiting for food to which i replied ‘yes I’ve been wIting an hour’ she told me ours was next out which we had been told 20mins prior, i replied it doesn’t matter we need to leave (didn’t have enough time on the car parking to stay) to which she looked at me with raised eyebrows and shrugged her shoulders walking off! We wasn’t issued a refund easily either and never once had an apology! Absolute joke. I will be sure to stay clear of this pub in the future.

Went for the breakfast as advertised and do regularly out of season when it is a £1.00 cheaper. Waitress told us we would have to wait until all guests had been served no apology and quite off hand. 2 parties of 4 also came in and were rudely told the same. The 2 parties promptly left and went to the Marina cafe next door. Made as a local to feel 2nd rate and during the winter months when the tourists have gone home then there are plenty of other businesses that welcome our business. Won’t be visiting again

Called in on a late Sunday afternoon for a couple of beers and something to eat. It was reasonably quiet so quick service.

HavIng stayed in Brid a week we stumble upon the South Cliffe for a meal. The food was excellent and was a very raosonable price. In fact the food was so good that we found ourselves eating there the whole week. Thank you South Cliffe, you made our week.

Great value for money. Would definitely recommend a lunch here. Friendly staff even when rushed off their feet!

Very slow service and meal wasn't worth waiting for. 2 out of 4 meals came out and then waited another 15 mins for other 2.

Called in here for a drink on the first day of arriving in Bridlington and then we used it all the time. The meals were excellent and very hot and filling. The large family room at the rear was great for our group as we could play pool or darts and keep our own company. The prices were very reasonable and the staff very friendly even after we tried to drink them dry!!!

we eat here all of the time and the food is great. The meals are 2 for £7? and you cannot get better value for money anywhere else. We have eaten off the full menu or the specials and always find it good.

Had meal here following recommendation from b&b; where staying in Bridlington. Had quiche with jacket potato & my partner had BBQ chicken with chips. Price reasonable but food not brilliant! Chips only warm & quiche seemed like it had been re-heated as it was very dry & tough round the edge. Had a longish wait although they were quite busy. Won't be returning.

We have been many times for a quick meal. The food is good, real, not out of a plastic bag and consistent. service is good and the staff are akways pleasant.

We live in Brid, so we often go to the South Cliffe for a reasonably priced meal, usually the food is good but you always have to wait a long time for it.

Last Saturday my daughter and her family went back to Brid for a 2week break ashave numerous other recommended by myself staying in an apt went for breakfast dinner drinks till yesterday. On entering chose a seat next to a family eating breakfast went to order only to be advised they couldn't have anything as they had a large party coming WHAT HAPPENED TO LOYALTY I will not return or recommend them again

Had breakfast here, well worth the £3.95 (maxi breakfast) just what I needed after a night on the drink! Only downside was the toast came out first and 5mins later the breakfast came out, which meant the toast was cold. Maybe bring it all out together next time. Apart from that it was lovely

I regularly eat at the south cliffe whilst working with a service user.The price can't be beaten in Bridlington and our favourite is home made steak pie and chips £3.50 though there are other home made dishes at this price as well as an extensive menu.The hotel has a resteraunt, a bar area and a nice family area with 2 tv,s in as well as a pool table and 2 dart boards. The Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Like I said the value is the best in Bridlington.

Was at the Spa so stopped here for a meal. I have to say it was average, nothing special but not disgusting either.

Went here on the annual scooter rally, although it's nothing special inside. music was good! But beer selection was poor, and glasses very dirty as all bubbles stuck to the side of the glass, when I pointed this out I was asked how I know that means the glass is dirty.. Because I have a craft ale house..which nobody had heard of craft ale/beers either? Never ate there.

Myself and 2 friends.(we are all local), had been to the vintage fair at the spa. 12pm we went in to the southcliffe. Looked at menu . Ordered food at 12.05 pm. 1 man on the bar taking orders. Hasten to add not looking very happy!! The order was for the same table. No6. Pot of tea for 3. 3 toasties. 2 cheese onion. 1 cheese tomato. All with chips. Not rocket science. The place was almost empty when we went in except for couple people drinking. We asked for the tea to be served with our meal. It came after 5 min.! 40 min later! 3 bowls of chips! 12.50pm 1 cheese onion. 1 cheese tomato toastie brought that luked as if it had been sat there for a day.!. 1pm complained as 2 where the 3rd toastie was?? Waitress just sed dont know! It came 10 min later. We said this wasnt good enough. Head of kitchen came asked wat the problem was!!. She then started 2 blame the bar man!. Told her we werent happy. She took it away muttered sum apology. Money was given back. Food was taken away. The southcliffe think as they have a prime position they can take peoples money , be rude and serve unaceptable food and waste peoples time.!! What happens when the holiday makers go home and only the locals are left! Later on we went down 2 richies bar, where they offer a 20% discount for locals. Food prices service excellent. Well done richies bar. Southcliffe take note re quality of food, staff, timing of meals. Oh also staff blaming other staff.

Very good night at the southcliffe, amazing lot of singers, normally I cringe at some of the so called singers, but they were surprisingly good, 'Ernie the fastest milkman' was really good. Will call again next time in Brid' .

A 2 course meal for two people at £6-odds? I don't think I've seen anything that cheap for decades, or certainly not anything as good as this! The home made steak pie I had was lovely and my other half was also impressed with her vegetarian dish (spaghetti Napolitan, I think?) There was plenty of it and the place itself was okay... nothing fancy, but by no means a dump. The beer was pretty good too!

Shabby and not too clean. Shame as location is good. Good views but outside spaces filled with smokers.mwe had to sit inside to have our drinks. Televisions blaring and seating poor.

Good wholesome food at reasonable prices? Definately worth a visit. Staff were really helpful and efficient. Situated across from the spa so very central.

We had roast dinner at the South Clife Hotel prior to attending an event at The Spa, which is just across the road. Food was delicious and well priced. Drinks are very reasonably priced and as we were there during happy hour, were even cheaper! Staff were very friendly and checked with us several times. We returned after the event and karaoke was in full swing. We enjoyed the atmosphere and people were really friendly. We didn't feel like strangers at all. We shall definitely go back here on our next trip to Bridlington.

Ate here 3 times during the week I stayed in Bridlington. 2 meals for £5.95 is amazing value and they weren't tiny portions either. I would definately eat there again in the future.

You struggle to get a seat in this pub when the Karaoke is on. Some really good singers but the pub is a bit 'rough' and needs updating.

Bridlington is not a town on the way up. I saw board after board of deals as we approached town Sunday lunch 2 for £15, 2 for £12, 2 for £10 at the South Cliffe they're £4 each. It's a race to the bottom and that's where the South Cliffe sits.Regulars seem to be focussed on cost and nothing else really matters.We were a group of 6, some of us locals who recommended this place because of the value. It's not my type of place - what are you going to get for £4 when they have to buy the ingredients, cook it and pay all the other overheads. About £2 worth of food I recon and that's what we got.Don't get me wrong if they were advertising it as cheap and cheerful I won't complain but on the menu my burger was a "Aberdeen Angus burger" - to most people that is a premium product. This was the cheapest burger I've ever had - there are better on the harbour. Other meals were OK but don't expect this to be an experience - the service is challenged - the waitress was nice enough but is running the place and here outfit looked like it still had yesterday's service down the front..One to avoid in my opinion.

On the 26 june we went for our tea the service was very poor the fire alarm went off which stopped the till working so could only get a drink if you had the correct money.the man who i assumed was the manager or the in charge person had not got a clue what to do luckily for him there was a female member of staff who i had seen there on many occasions who sorted the problem. unlucky for her though she was meeting herself coming back as the person doing the cooking also did not know there A....from there elbow, i had a refund on my microwaved meal so left happy as this was the first time i had to complain. today 6 july the meal again was very poor the cottage pie could not get any dryer even if you stuck it in a solarium for 3 days i am sad to say i will not be visiting again and i wish the blonde lady staff well and hope she is paid well. the gentleman in charge on the 26 th june who i had only ever seen once before may be new management as things seem to have gone down hill since he has been on the scene. todays chef was jenny i know as we asked

stayed at a great hotel for four nights bed and breakfast had to have our evening meal somewhere else went to this hotel had "homemade "chicken and mushroom pie chips and peas the pastry was sad the pie tasted terrible the chips had been warmed up that many times they they were so hard i could have broken my teeth on them never again

I don't know what has happened to what used to be a place that did excellent lunches but after todays visit I would not recommend it to anyone! What service there was available was slow and appalling. After a 45minute wait after placing our order we were served lasagne so over microwaved the sauce had dried up and the meat was hard, a jacket potato with skin too hard to cut with a knife, and steak pie (usually delicious and their best dish) also over microwaved causing rock hard meat and pastry which was served with dried up chips. When asked if we wanted anything with it we requested some brown sauce and extra butter for the potato none of which ever appeared - neither did any staff to complain to! We usually have a dessert as well but were so disgusted and hungry we just ate what was edible and left.Other hopeful diners were wondering about the whereabouts of their long ago ordered food as we left - probably never to return!

Had a few gud nites out in the Sutcliffe. Value for money food and drink but sometimes the place smells of hot oil like they bung everything in the deep fat fryer. Only stayed in the hotel once n it cud do with a good clean. It's cheap to stay there and I suppose you only get what you pay for...Wudnt stay again.

We used to go here regularly for the bargain food - can't beat two meals for £5.95! The beer can be really good but occasionally I've had a not so good pint. Very handy for the Spa!

I frequent the South Cliffe annually during the British Open Darts competition at the Spa. It is reasonably priced and the food is good value. During the weekend they have to put up with hundreds of loud drunken males which they deal with very well. When it is busy it can get very hot inside but the beer is well kept and cold! It hasn't changed in years so maybe with the thousands of pounds that they make over this weekend a slight update would benefit the place. Overall it is not posh but very good value especially when compared to the prices at the Spa opposite!

Really good value for money. cheap food and cheap drink. food at the quality you would expect for the price you pay. Service was nothing special brought the wrong meat on our sunday lunch but staff were too confused and inexperienced to change it. A massive bad point about this place was the investation of flies. They were everywhere. maybe time to hire a new cleaner! Not a bad place but would not go out of my way to return.

Value for money drinks and food, although it was very hot inside, but think they have to keep the doors closed when the Kareoke is on.

I frequented the South Cliffe years ago when I had a static caravan at Skipsea, just had a few days at Brid so called in again I was not disappointed.The food is very good, freshly cooked(you may have to wait a short while but it is worth the wait) it is also great value for the money, very inexpensive.It is easy to find directly opposite the Spa.Do not miss this jem.

Lovely friendly pub which serves the biggest mixed grill we have ever eaten. We literally had to crawl back to our apartment (Thank god it was a short distance) on our hands and knees lol

Had the best mixed grill for a long time and very affordable. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Next visit to Bridlington I would stay there for bead and breakfast!It is a good location opposite the Spa and close to the beach and was recommended by land lady at the Winston

Again I called in for something to eat with friends and I had the best home cooked food, the lasagna is beautiful with coleslaw garlic bread and chips for just £3.00 I would recommend anyone to visit here I will be returning

I can't believe looking at some of these reviews people are slagging off the food they must eat at 5 star restaurants We both found this place the day before going home wish we had found it earlier The food we ordered was excellent nicely presented and hot My wife is a fussy eater but could not praise it enough even the diners around us cleaned there plates that says it all Give it a try you won't be disappointed unless you are a 5 star diner

Had dinner here the first night we stayed in Bridlington as it was closest to our hotel. Ordered our food and paid for it. Went to sit in the bar with our wooden spoon with food collection number on it and our drinks. Then seeing a doorway that said dinner sitting area thought we had better go in there. We sat there for quite a while but as there seemed to be several people waiting for there food didnt worry to much just assumed they were busy. Then a waitress came in and asked if anyone was waiting for burgers and chips we said yes and was told that they had been sitting for about 10 minutes in the bar area on an empty table. Why bother giving you a wooden spoon with a number on it if you have no intention of using it to make sure the food gets to the right customer. There was no drinks on the table or any sign of either of us at that table yet they thought it ok to leave our food there unattended. By the time we got it it was cold and inedible. Not a good start to our holiday. Needless to say we didnt go back in there.

If you like good wholesome food why not give the Southcliffe Hotel directly opposite the Spa a try for one of the best lunches in town. They have a varied menu of home cooked food at extremely reasonable prices. The facilities are basic but the food & friendly service cannot be faulted.

was in bridlington weekend 24/26 november didnt stay in the hotel but ad 2 meals there at 2 meals for £6 well worth the money good choice and all well presented=== they also do a roast dinner every day for £4 again well worth it a member of our party ad it twice once with beef and then with lamb !!! bar area open to the public with karaoke on most nights Location is across from the spa and beach so hotel would be handy for these also only around corner from harbour 5 min flat walk. Would recommend for cheap good warm home cooked food+++++++++

I can thoroughly recommend the quality of the food, its variety and superb value for money;having recently sampled the food as a party of 12 on a cycle tour from Middlesbrough to Lincoln.We spent a lovely evening in the bar entertained by local and touring karaoke singers. This number of quality singers I have not seen together for some time.Shane and his bar staff were very friendly. We met the lovely Vicky the hostess and Joan, the landlady. We could not have been made more welcome.See you all next year.

Have visited the hotel for breakfast three times during August. I had the £3 smaller one but it was still a plate full and everything cooked to perfection. Also included in the price was tea and toast. I don't know how they do it for the money. The staff are very polite and welcoming. We also had a dinner there one day which was great value and lovely tasty homemade food, fresh veg, mash etc. My husband had braising steak with chips and veg, again wonderful food. No complaints from us and will certainly be visiting regularly as we are in Brid every other week.

After being told the meals were great, we decided to give it a go.The prices are really good..I wish i could say the same for the food. 1 steak and one mixed grill.....The steak was lovely. however...the meals were cold. The garlic bread was undercooked and under flavoured and served cold to the table...The mixed grill was returned because items were missing...The meat Undercooked. The lamb chop was bleeding ...the service would have been better, if the young boy knew what he was supposed to be doing. a request for condiments was greeted with " we aint got no mustard" Not terribly Exciting huh....It's a shame that the food didn't live up to the standard expected.I shall return today for a sunday lunch and give it another chance, If it fails then i shall not return or recommend it.
