Reasonable priced food, good service

First time l have visited The Angel l was very impressed the service was excelent, the young lady who served us was smiley friendly and very efficient. I do not live locally l live in West Yorkshire but would recommend the Angel and hope to visit again when l next visit my friend who took me there

Traditional pub, I thought almost had ceased to exist, good beer, great place to meet and chat.

While on holiday we always use The Angel for lunch and previously everything has been very good however our last two visits have been spoiled by our hot food being served on icy cold plates.I mentioned this to the lady who cleared our table and she said she would inform the cook.Ok maybe a one off so the next time we visited it was still the same.On mentioning it to the man who cleared the table i might as well have told the dartboard,no apology or customer service whatsoever.Well people you just lost two regular customers.Sad to say that after 4/5 years eating in The Angel but spoiling hot tasty food by using cold plates is to us a sign that our custom is not wanted.

Went for Wednesday night quiz , very good atmosphere and great quiz, pub quizzes can be slow and dull but this went really well, also have to mention the lovely food this pub serves and a decent price and good service with a smile from bar

Quiet on a Sunday lunch but the food has mice if just basic pub fare.

Had thai fishcakes sat outside in the beer garden. Lovely meal but think the inside of the pub needs updating. All in all a great place to have lunch as it was inexpensive and very tasty.

We popped in for lunch whilst shopping in the area and we were so glad we did. Two meals for £15.95 provided you bought two drinks. Excellent value, delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommended

Popped in for lunch. Never been before. Had Thai fishcake with chips, salad and sweet chilli dip. Was absolutely scrumptious. There's nothing I can fault with meal and service. Will definitely be going again.

Fabulous lunch menu, and a la carte, food was hot and very tasty, taff were very attentive, will definitely go again!!

Called in for lunch whilst working in the office in Beverley. Lovely old pub, friendly staff, lacked a bit of atmosphere but probably because it was lunchtime on a Tuesday. I ordered the lasagne which was good, nearby parking available in a public car park which is a short walk. No steps into the pub so easy access, quite spacious inside. Based on my experience I would recommend a visit.

Asked for omelette asked for it to be well done bar staff says can't do it well done as there bought in done asked her to put it in pan just to do it well done refused said its her husband cooking & he won't do it bar staff a bit cocky with me won't be going back knowing omelette is pre made & pinged in a microwave home cooked food my not 1 out of 10 I definitely won't be recommending this place

Dog friendly but not in main bar during food serving time but has a covered beer garden at the back. Basic but good pub grub, staff friendly and dog bowls and snacks available

Refused entry to this place because there was 14 of us ! 7 couples all over the age of 50 ! What’s wrong with this place ? It was Saturday night, the bar was not full and it was Karaoke night, think of the extra takings they could have had - there loss. Door supervisors need to use their discretion when allowing customers in to this pub.

We can't have a night in Beverley without visiting The Angel..it's like reliving my young adulthood again. The atmosphere is brilliant, it amuses me that one minute it's heaving and the next it's empty! Drinks prices are good, 2x doubles with mixers, glass of pinot and a pint of Peroni for less than £20 what's not to love. Personal favourite and highlight for me is Stu's Karaoke on a Saturday night. It's a great mixture of people like myself who really shouldn't sing and others who fill the room with awe, there are even a few who sing random novelty songs and pretty much everyone joins in. I've never eaten there, so can't comment but I've never heard a bad word said so thats a positive. If you haven't been,I'd highly recommend.

Called in for lunch today, nice window seat, all had the burger and chips, quite limited menu, but something for everyone in our party. Chips were gorgeous, I don't usually order burger and chips, but these were delicious. No frozen cheap ones here! Staff were friendly and polite. Would certainly call in again.

Visited Beverley and spotted the Angel as we walked past Dog friendly place we went in court yard at the back nice and sheltered. Had steak pie chips peas and gravy , Margaret had the fish chips and pea both off the 2for menu . Was excellent value for money and the food was very very nice. Enjoyed 2 meals a pint of Guinness and a tonic for less than £25 brilliant. Staff very Friendly we would return if in the area again well worth it

Kareoke night, some good singers some not so good! Good night though.

Had to spend over £10 to pay by card. The Black Sheep was disgusting, took it back to the bar, only for the bar staff to hand it to another customer to try before agreeing that it was no good before offering an alternative. Not a great experience

Called in one Saturday night, it was really quiet. Bar staff were very nice. Only had one and moved on .

Came for a meal today had a roast dinner it was lovely apart from the veg being hard couldn't cut it my friend left her veg as well carrots broccoli and cauliflower very hard to cut and eat

I am undergoing bereavement counselling and was told to visit happy places, i went to Angel pub for sunday lunch, was served a drink i never asked for, food was inedible, heated to beyond in microwave, i went to the counter to tell them, i was imminently told to leave, i left and called a taxi to go home, i was sat in the outside space, the lady came out & told me to f off the premises, i told her i was waiting for a taxi, I cannot stand nor walk far as im disabled, i explained this, she said i dont give a f, not my problem. I had happy memories of sunday lunch there, she has killed them all.

Old looking basic pub, but we visited after many positive reviews, and we're not disappointed we had food in fish and chips and the fish was lovely and real chips! Worth a visit only disappointment for many on a Friday afternoon was stopped serving grub after 2 of whichI remember seeing 4/5 couples turned away.

A really disappointing experience. We came on a busy Saturday last week with my partner and parents, immediately a barmaid told us they wouldn't serve large groups of 6 people, I explained that we were only 4 and the other group of chaps next to us were strangers only to be told by the second barmaid we were lying! Appealing was no use as they walked away, so did we. If you'd like a warm friendly welcome look elsewhere.

Myself, my husband and colleagues visited this pub. It was heaving with nowhere to sit. I have spinal problems and cannot stand for long. I got a stool and sat near the stairs to private residence to be near my friends etc. One security man asked me to move which I tried to explain my disability and reason I was there. He grabbed hold of me, witnessed by many people, and physically withdrew me from the premises. I wasn't abusive and didn't do anything to warrant this behaviour. I stood in the lobby and waited for my friends to finish their drinks. The other security man asked me to leave the lobby. As it was raining heavily I didn't want to obviously. After asking him to not call me 'Miss' he kept on. I felt he was antagonising me to get a reaction. I am 60 years old and have never been treat like this.

Very unfriendly pub - will not go again and definitely wouldn’t recommend it!! Much nicer pubs in beverley, don’t waste your time in this one.

First time here ,sunday lunch was good the beef was so so tender will be going back.

Decent home cooked food of reasonable sized portions for lunchtime.

Went on a busy Sunday afternoon, had to wait 10 mins for a table. We all had the Sunday lunch it was so tasty - the beef melted in your mouth. We had our dog with us - very friendly staff and exceptional value for money ! Fab

I went here to get lunch somewhere where I could safely sit down whilst having a hypo, whilst out with my mum who had a dentist app. I had a pint of diet coke and fish and chips with peas. Peas were so so, but the chips were very tasty and so was the fish which I hadn't had in a while. There were two hairs in food but it happens and food still tasted nice. Service was quick and barmaid was friendly. Was also able to use the restroom. Overall, good experience and very quiet at the start of lunch which is good as I have very sensitive hearing. Would recommend for a quick bite to eat and place to have a break whilst in the area. Reasonably priced too for the quality of the fish and chips.

Good value Sunday lunch deal and choice of drinks.

We only popped in here for a quick cheap lunch - it's a bit of a run down place, but ok. It was advertising outside 2 meals for £13.95 - including fish and chips. When I went to order at the bar, I was asked if I wanted medium fish, I said whatever the offer was for £14 and the barmaid said, 'that's small then', which I said 'ok - that's fine' I ordered a half cider and as my husband couldn't decide what drink he wanted immediately, I just paid for our food and my drinks. I was shocked that I appeared to have been charged £4.35 for half a draft cider. When the barmaid came back across, I queried it - and it became clear that because I had not ordered two drinks, we were charged for the medium sized fish anyway. When our meals arrived we'd been served small fish at medium prices - so essentially were ripped off The food itself was fresh and tasty - hence the 2 stars, but the experience was poor. The barmaid had every opportunity to put this right for us, (by at least ensuring we got the portion size of food we'd been inadvertently charged for) but chose not to - neither did she explain to me at the bar when I was originally ordering that I needed to order two drinks at the same time to get the 'deal' Thankfully, it wasn't a fortune, but I hate unfairness and being ripped off - won't be back and neither will I ever recommend it.

dog friendly which is great. visited for fish and chips as heard it was fresh fish and home cut chips. no idea on what the price wld be and after reading below it was no longer as good value as it once was I thought maybe the prices have gone up like most places. 2 fish and chips, upgrade to much peas, pint of black sheep and a pint of Pepsi max......£25! fish and chips was £9. its more expensive at the take away! the fish was fresh and well cooked too. the service was really good too. would highly recommend

Came here for lunch in the summer and had beautiful fish and chips, so when we were in the area on Sunday we decided to visit for lunch, so glad we did. We ordered Sunday lunch and it was fabulous, really tender roast beef, not slices of sandwich beef which we have had before at other places, and a homemade Yorkshire pudding, and it was only £9 each. It’s the place to go if you’re in Beverley.

Had a wonderful Sunday Lunch. The meat was tender and gravy was delicious.Food well presented and staff were friendly.

Went to Angel last night the door man was abusive and grabbed My female friend by throat because I fall asleep and also pushed my friend over took his sia license off so couldn't see his name shameful

We visited this pub yesterday before our train home back to hull. There was a karaoke evening on which we was really enjoying. One of our friends fell asleep and my partner at that time went to the toilet,the bouncer grabbed my friend who was asleep very aggressively and tried to throw him out I said what the hell you doing ! He then grabbed me by the neck with both hands and tried to throw me out !! I’m a tiny 5 foot women in her 50 s . As you can imagine I was horrified ,the owner needs to look at his cctv and contact me before I take this further!!

Never again would I go back to the angel, food was terrible cold and over done, chips was overdone and burger underdone, never again, love Beverly go often but never go in angel again,

The Angel has a good selection of beers including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. It's a large two room pub with a very attractive, nice big sheltered courtyard beer garden. It's a very food orientated pub no pool table or dart board. Nice friendly helpful staff.

Brilliant Kareoke ran by Stuart every Saturday night

Went in today for lunch & sat outside Firstly & prob most importantly the food was very good , best fish & chips i have tasted for a long time , everybody in our party of 5 was happy with the food . The only negative point i want to make is in my opinion the lady behind the bar who took our order (owner/ manageress? ) seemed stressed out & very short on patience . Cant be an easy job but we def noticed an air of agitation & lack of patience in her Manner . Every body has an off day so maybe next time things will be different & the food is excellent .Thanks for replying , cant be easy to operate with staff shortages & equipment failing. Our order was served in good time & was both great value & well cooked . We will def be back in

Came here with my son and husband for lunch today I myself had been before and had fish n chips and decided to come back with my family we ordered fish n chips twice but my husband fancied the burger although my son and myself really enjoyed the fish n chips my husband's burger wasn't very nice and he left some of it as he said he couldn't stomach it the young girl who came to clear the table asked if all was ok when we told her about the burger she said oh great so I repeated that it wasn't very nice but the fish n chips were lovely to which she replied I'll tell the kitchen I must admit I was a bit disheartened that no manager etc came over to find out the problem or apologise and it's put my husband off coming again

Ok for what it is. Does a very reasonable fish and chips at a very good price. Don't even think of asking for low alcohol beer as they only serve one of the worst. Their normal drinks seemed ok but lacked anything special.

First visit to this , what is abviously a very popular eating/ drinking establishment. Visited on a Friday lunch time, and we struggled to to get a free table. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious .Prices were very reasonable.

Two meals for £12.95. We had steak pie, chips, peas and gravy. Very good

Excellent tasty meal and good price too. Although they were really busy the service was quick, friendly and cheerful. And there's were clean and well kept - always a good sign! Well done The Angel.

Prices where a expensive and they had no mixer to cater for my diabetic mother in law so had to go purchase from a local shop and that would be ok, then we got told we was not allowed to use it!!

We had previously eaten here during a holiday in summer and wanted to try it again and pleasingly everything was perfect.So much so that we ate there three days later.On our first visit we had the fish and chips,BRILLIANT.Second time round we tried the steak pie.Very tasty.The chips are home made and not the frozen offerings of most places.We will be back.

Excellant service and great staff with great food and great prices and made our Lucy, (Greyhound) very welcome.

Went here today on the busy Beverley Christmas Market Day. The staff worked really hard offered a good service with a smile. The fish and chips very tasty the fish was white and flaky, will go again when they are not too busy
