Good pub nice staff very friendly

Proper good grub, relaxed family pud what more do u need for a lazy sunday. Fab food freindly staff the lady even took photos for us at the table. Love the oldy worldy decor and great selection of drinks at the bar. Perfect in a lovely small village location with idyllic surrounds 5*

Excellent service, excellent food served really quickly. Our group had 3 steak pies ,2 with mixed veg and 1 with chips, all went down a treat ! One Roast Pork carvery, also delicious. One portion of chips which were delicious and a large enough portion. Had a treat as were given cottage pie to sample, also delicious ! The Gentleman who served us was helpful and polite , wel deffo return , 5 stars.

If your looking for a Sunday lunch this is place to go, food is amazing. All staff were very friendly and a lovely atmosphere, will certainly be back. Thank you to all the staff for doing such a marvellous job

Very good Goole review tempted us for a first time meal. Got there for 1pm. Quite busy, queuing for 15 mins. Got a table sorted and paid for the carvery and 4 drinks. Came to £50 Got our food and sat down. All of us enjoyed it. Probably eat too much. They have pool table and a great family atmosphere. Would definitely go again.

Just back home in York after having a Christmas Dinner at the Blacksmiths Arms, Hook. Food plentiful and delicious, landlord very convivial and welcoming, tables very Christmassy. Cracking crackers! Feeling festive now. Thanks for a lovely afternoon with dear friends.

Went here for Sunday lunch. This time it was lovely it depends on when you arrive. Sometimes if you go later the meat can be dry and the veg cold.

Had lunch today at Blacksmiths arms same as usual the food was lovely n the staff nice n friendly. Would recommend to anyone who likes good food

Went to this pub yesterday with my brother for a Sunday lunch. This is a lovely friendly venue and a typically proper village pub atmosphere with a nice happy crowd. The roast dinner carvery was one of the very best I've ever had with a choice of many roasts and even steak pie. I had Beef and Turkey and both were cooked beautifully and tender. An array of choice in vegetables and different gravy's made this meal and venue an outstanding choice. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you..

Always good food, even at busy times they can always find space to squeeze 2 more in. The portions and food is far superior to a well know carvery chain (toby said) staff always friendly and helpful. It's my new go to place for a sunday dinner.

Had works party here to celebrate 35 years of being open, we had bar to ourselves, staff very charming and nice, the room was lovely, nice and clean place, had a fantastic night .

We called in while on a bike ride. Beer was lovely and I wanted to stay for a few more, but you need balance for biking........ Apparently. Dog friendly = major bonus.

Not from the area so had a google and was very impressed. Dinner is very good value for money and a very good choice of options.

This was the first time we have been hear .we had gone to celebrate an 80 birthday.the pup was clean friendly and the carvery was the best we have had out for a long time.there was plenty of meat and the veg was well cooked but not over done .we are going back in a few weeks time as it's my daughter birthday .I gave this place a five star because it was the best we have had ,the only fault we had was the rough potatoes beautiful on the outside a little bit undercooked on the inside but still worth the five we gave it thank you very much the blacksmith arms see you soon

Lovely pub great food but staff could do with knowing if serving food or not. Told on arrival they were then by person taking order no. Checked and then bought out menu only to be told by next person could only have sandwich

It's a locals pub, can feel a tad intimidating walking in but the staff are fine. Outdoor seating in the carpark.

My family went for Sunday lunch on 26th January to celebrate my 80th birthday and was so surprised to see they had given us a long table (12 people) and decorated it with "Happy Birthday" strips and little bowls of Quality sweets and flowers. The meal was excellant and the thoughtfulness was second to none so THANK YOU all of you very much and will be back. Mary Baxter

We went there for first time £5 thats all it costs and the carvery was really really good will be going again

We visited on Boxing day and had the carvery. We had a table booked but it was very quiet. There was a choice of meats and a home cooked steak pie to choose from along with the usual veg and ready made Yorkshire puddings. The chef was a bit odd and we did find him unprofessional in the way he spoke to us and his topic of conversation but there was nothing wrong with the food. The pub was generally clean. There is a damp problem and the paint was flaking off the wall and was all over the booth we were sat at and on the floor. Rest of the staff were friendly.

Felt very uncomfortable, maybe good if you are local.

Found this pub 2 weeks ago my partner is in a wheelchair and must admit what great people there Eva one is willing to help etc has a proper disable toilet too , the food is awesome best food we have had in a long time well worth a try peeps , big thank you too the staff with helping me get my misses food many thanks 🙏

Came upon this pub unexpectedly and fortuitously. Didn't know they produce a carvery everyday from 12-8. Extremely reasonable. Pork very tender. Vegetables looked a bit tired to begin with but fresh roasties and green beans brought out..very tasty. Friendly staff

Been here numerous times in past through the week food has always ways been brilliant. Not this time meat dry what food was there was dried. up and what was brought our wasn't hot.Usually a adult and kids price not this time was charged all the same wouldn't of minded if the quality was still the same .

Friendly staff helpful customers and brilliant food.

Some of the veg looked quite dry and unappealing. Some of the dishes of veg had bits of other veg dropped in. Not enough serving spoons. Roast potatoes quite insipid and needed slightly longer in the oven. 'Not a crispy spud anywhere! Meats were OK.

Can't fault the place the price is right

Nice seating area, Staff are very friendly and food is excellent well worth the visit.. Also if staying over night rooms are absolutely spotless. Nice clean and comfy.

Lovely food the chef Steve was so caring for my 84 year old mum he even helped serving her dinner out whilst busy doing the carvery . Will be going back here very soon

Food very nice hot too would defo go again

Visit here quite regularly for carvery, have unfortunately noticed the last couple of times the restricted amount of meat served. 1 slice (ONE) is all that was given on our last two visits. Came away disappointed again today. Such a shame.

£5.00 for a lunch carvery fantastic. Plenty of meat which you don't always get at Toby etc. Very friendly staff. A very comfortable lounge and dining area.

Excellent carvery at a very reasonable price, friendly, efficient staff. For me the only improvements would be : an option of a larger sized meal and real ale.

I went here on mother's day with my family, it was very busy and even though everyone had booked tables the staff seemed a little unorganised with managing the tables and seating everyone. The only food on offer was carvery, but there was a huge selection of veg and potatoes and the usual cuts of meat. Been a vegetarian I had a carvery without meat as there seemed to be no other option, I still had to pay full price for this. The man serving did make me some vegetarian gravy for which I am very grateful. The rest of my family had standard carverys, and there was no complaints, the quality and taste of the food was great and portion sizes are big, I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Excellent service and they was able to cater for my daughter being gluten intollerant it was very very busy being Mothers day but it didn't phase them one ĺittle bit everything was just taken in its stride but dealt with quickly

Went there to treat my mum for mothers day and pre booked for the occasion i have coeliac disease so knew the Blacksmiths arms catered for me it was very busy being mothers day but the staff was always polite helpful they was cleaning tables down as soon as they was vacant the carvery was lovely lots of choice of meat veg and roast potatoes and mash then the chef brought me my own gluten free yorkshire pudding and gluten free gravy to my table they were yummy too then after the carvery i had a gluten free chocolate cheesecake well that was really delicious and better than the token chocolate brownie i will definitely be going again well done to all at the blacksmith arms

Unfortunately this place is up for sale, but we had a lovely Christmas meal there and the staff were very accommodating.
