Cafe on the Wolds in East Riding of Yorkshire

It was ok. We'd nearly finished a nice bike ride and stopped here for lunch. J-pot ok, soup was hit and miss. Not sure it was home cooked. Came with copious amounts of sliced bread and margarine. But it was nice and hot.

Small cafe on the high street. We had a toasted sandwich with tortilla chips and salad, jacket potato with cheese and salad, large latte and large americano, all for just under £20. Some dressing on the salad would have been good, but otherwise couldn't fault it. If you do find yourself in MW give it a try

We stopped as part of a long journey and needed somewhere to give our 1 year old lunch and have a rest. Everyone was so friendly and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. A really lovely little find - we do the journey fairly often so will definitely be back.

People asked me why l like the wolds cafe well it's pet friendly it's absolutely 💯 spotless and food is fresh well presented in a friendly atmosphere service is good you wait longer if you want fresh food and a nice summer garden

I’ve been to many cafes all around York, Leeds, Harrogate and it’s the first time I will ever write a good review because it’s gorgeous I asked for a bacon sandwich they made it fresh in 5 minutes 6 pieces of freshly cut bacon very soft bread buns and a delightful god given heavenly piece of there homemade Victoria Sponge Cake I can’t say enough about this place it’s just truly a gem for Market Weighton I suggest that you try out this amazing dog friendly one of a beautiful kind cafe. My respects to the gaffer Mrs Lynn for giving me a good day.

Came here today as we haven’t been to market weighton for a while, nice cafe dog friendly had two bacon sandwiches which were the worst we have ever had. The bread was the cheapest and thinest you can buy and it contained one piece of bacon which was very greasy and made the bread fall apart. There was no small extras on the plate like a few crisps or salad which would be a nice touch. Definately won’t be returning.

Poped in as wanted a light bite and was passing. We were greatest with a warm welcome and a smile. The food we have was cooked well and really tasty and the coffee was good as well. Good food and a reasonable price. Great service and a chilled relaxed atmosphere

I don't normally do this but it was so noticeable I feel like I have to. As we were eating our breakfast, the food delivery came. It was a tesco delivery - we saw the stock they bought to make their menu items and I can honestly say, every item is the cheapest product you can buy from tesco, so I did some maths for the full breakfast (£11.00!!!!) Beans - £0.14 Bacon - £0.44 Sausage - £0.50 Tinned Tomato - £0.16 Mushrooms - £0.29 Bread (white) - £0.23 "complimentary" coffee - a generous £0.50 All equaling £2.36 That's 486% mark up!!!!! Obviously I'm not counting labour cost etc but come on!!!! That's crazy The average breakfast cost in London is is only 33p more than this and I can most guarantee the ingredients used would warrant that price! I just think, if you are going to charge £11 for a full English, atleast buy butcher quality meat or make it an actual large breakfast. Or, by all means serve the food you want to but charge the £6/£7 that this breakfast is worth! Cheeky! I saw that they even buy in pre smashed avocado, honestly do the 4 members of staff on a quiet morning not have time to prep some fresh avocado's instead of talking about their new neck coolers? 😂 I know this seems mean but in a small town like that, it's clearly a cafe taking advantage of no competition. Do better

Great, little dog friendly café. Staff are very helpful and go out of their way to make you and your four legged friends welcome. We enjoyed our lunch and the doggies loved their treats and puppicino bowls.

Really disappointing. Staff were indifferent and disinterested. Food overpriced as mediocre. No sauces, condiments or napkins provided. Had to keep my coat on as not very warm. Our first visit to Market Weighton and our last to this cafe.

Very nice clean place, only small, dog friendly. Had the best jacket potatoe I've ever had, coffee and walnut cake was lovely, coffee not the best 😔 but the food made up for it, staff friendly. Would go again.

Lovely cafe and staff but the toasted tea cake was the smallest I have ever seen and definitely not worth the money even another customer said where is the other half ! Other meals looked good and if looking for a snack with less calories then have the toasted tea cake as it’s half the calories than at other cafes !

Avoid! We went here with my elderly mother and immediately upon entering you could sense an atmosphere from the clique “locals” and it felt very uncomfortable. Seated straight away and ordered teas and sandwiches. The sandwiches arrived which for £5 each you got two buttered slices of bread and 1 and a half slices of bacon!! No salad garnish, no condiments, nothing. Just two half’s of an anorexic looking sandwich on a plate! 5 minutes later the tea finally arrived and was weak. The milk in the cute little milk churn was warm and didn’t taste great. Also ordered a can of lemonade which was listed as R Whites but when came was a cheap cloudy lemonade which I can’t drink being too bitter. We paid up and left. I’m all for supporting local business where I can especially in my beloved Yorkshire, but this just wasn’t great at all I’m sorry to say! Never again!

Went here on an Early Sunday afternoon with some of my mates and ordered some flat whites. The server was polite, we paid and left. When I took my first sip, something was off, it was the milkiest flat white in existance. Weak, lukewarm, unimaginative. We should have went elsewhere upon reading the other reviews here but decided to give it a shot. The server clearly made a mistake or does not know how to make our beverages correctly. But to make the same error FOUR times? Such a pity because the cafe itself looked like a typical charming cafe. Extremely disappointing coffee, left half of it in a bin down the road.

Staff were so rude, especially the person who seemed to be the manager. Imagine asking for a coffee in a coffee shop! Left empty handed.

Really good quick service. Food also good. The seating in the garden was not very comfortable but it was a lovely area to sit.

Staff were not friendly at all, borderline rude. Felt completely unwelcome. Soup was clearly out of a tin and microwaved. Other dishes were very poor quality and some inedible. Would not recommend and would never go back again. A shame given we’d had such a positive shopping experience in the area that morning.

Beautifully cooked breakfast. Eggs cooked to perfection, thick cut bacon. And spam!!! The gentleman cooking and serving very kind and welcoming Will be coming back for sure.

I purchased 3 bacon sandwiches for the handsome price of £18.00 We asked for brown bread and got white, the bacon was poor quality, over cooked and clearly had been re heated, due to the look and texture. We spoke about locally sourced products and they joked that they did purchase locally...they bought from Tesco up the road! The cafe was empty and I'm not surprised, to charge £18.00 for 3 basic sandwiches is appalling. I would hate to think what a family of 4 who work on minimum wage would do? If you are serving premium food then I would understand the price, but serving Tesco bacon and inferior condiments (My colleague who was buying the sandwiches asked for HP and they had some non branded sauce...£6.00 a sandwich! ) You should hang your heads in shame selling at that price! No wonder it was empty! Please avoid this place if you have any sense.

We stopped here for coffee on our Sunday tandem ride. We chose to sit outside at the front of the cafe as we needed to keep an eye on the bike. The staff told us we were welcome to take the bike into the little outside seating area behind the cafe but tandems aren’t the easiest things to manoeuvre so decided to stay at the front. We had coffee and poached eggs on toast, both of which were very good. Free range eggs with lovely yellow yolks and crusty wholemeal bread. The coffee was so nice we ended up having 2 cups! The staff, Kirby and Amelie, were welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be visiting again the next time we cycle through Market Weighton.

Got recommended here from the hotel we stayed at..also from friends..they said lovely food... correct Friendly staff...wrong Quick service...wrong We must of had different staff as they were miserable maybe hungover like we were but we weren't working maybe a lesson to all don't party on a work night...

Been here a few times lovely food and staff always look great with uniforms on....apart for the last time a lady had stretched black tshirt and a apron ...it was a shame as let it down ...always make a place look better if staff are uniformed....I will be revisiting tho as its a great cafe

Friendly cafe with good food. Stopped for lunch while on a motorbike ride & was able to park on street outside for free which was handy. Service was very good, panini was very tasty & a good cup of tea. Would revisit if passing.

Called in very recently ie 5 months ago and was pleasantly surprised. Food very good, service friendly and very helpful. Dog friendly, ie well behaved dogs. Your dog even gets free treats!Definitely worth a visit. Revisited 23rd February 2023.Was going to celebrate my birthday there Called about 10-30ish.Wanted a table for 4 as meeting friends. Told by counter staff to come back in half an hour. 2 ladies were working on a table for 4. 1 lady turned and looked at us and commented we couldn't have a table for 4 as(holding a list up) she had all this to do!She was not very happy at all. !Fantastic 5 months ago. WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN after this experience. Gave 5 stars 5 months ago. After this experience doesn't deserve ANY stars, but had to give 1 star to post review. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Food is nice, just cold beans, and the rest warmish, nice friendly staff though, so overall a little pricey for what it was.

An impromptu visit to this pleasant cafe as my vehicle was being serviced at a local garage. Staff provided a friendly greeting, free Wi-Fi and good food/service.

We popped in yesterday for a breakfast as this was the only cafe open.Looked better outside then inside? English breakfast £6 no tea or coffee included in price.Breakfast was terrible!! Portion size was more a children's size? As for the toast- had barely touched the sides of the toaster? When I complained about the toast the women from the kitchen came to acknowledge my complaint but just said " sorry but the toaster is a bit hit & miss" so I thought 'get a new toaster 'and surely due to the current utility bill fiasco they would not just turn the setting down on the toaster?? Vegetarian sausage was discusting & hash brown dripping in fat. Cafe down the road which had much better reviews was closed mondays which is a shame as they do breakfasts with tea or coffee included & you get 2 of everything on your breakfast place.

Ordered the big breakfast, my wife had the normal breakfast. My breakfast included two sausage, two bacon, baked beans, plum tomatoes and two eggs. There appeared to be quite a lot of grease on the plate. There were 2 slices of toast which has not crispy. Coffee was extra. They provided marmalade but the toast was served buttered but on the same plate as the other items so the toast has sauce from the baked beans on the edges. The lady on the front area was very serious and did not smile. Not sure if we would return. Two breakfasts cost more than £20.

Food cooked well. I had the chunky vegetable soup which was lovely. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Only one grumble, the toilet is outside, ok in fine weather but a walk if it's raining. Prices are reasonable.

We stopped off in Market Weighton to break up a long car journey so it was rather pleasant to stumble across this cafe which suited our needs perfectly. A smiley server seated us to a table straight away, then Ben came to take our order. Even though the staff were busy, nothing was too much of a problem and our drinks came out quickly. We had already eaten but couldn’t help notice how reasonable the prices were for food and drink, there was plenty of variety and it’s good that there were milk alternatives. Lovely atmosphere, just feel that the tables could do with covers, or an upgrade, as they were quite waxy which made it feel unclean to touch.

Been in Market Weighton a few times and always gone to the National Bakers opposite for a sandwich " Not Anymore" Had a bacon sandwich here and you couldn't ask for better service, the lady even cut all the fat off the bacon for us

I visited for the first time on Saturday 8th October in passing. Really lovely large breakfast. Very well cooked. Waitress was Emelia I think. She was really nice and top marks for customer care. Will definitely be back if in the area again.

Nice coffee in pleasant surroundings

I had a strong coffee with milk on the side, and my partner had a pot of tea with milk on the side, and a biscuit was presented with each drink. I also had an ice cream - two flavours cream and mango & bubblegum - the drinks were hot and refreshing, and the ice cream was lovely. The place had a nice atmosphere, it was clean and the staff were friendly; it is a shame that we do not live nearby because we would go back.

The worst service we have ever experienced in a cafe. No seating inside but we were happy to sit outside. We Had to wait over 25 minutes for two flat white coffees which were just basically very milky coffees. I Spoke to staff member about the coffee, she said that's how they serve a regular flat white with one shot of coffee. !!!! The cake wasn't served with the coffee it arrived much later by which time we had finished our coffee. Staff need to get their act together. We wouldn't visit again.

First visit here looked great from Rd. Sat out back with dog. Awful !! Weeds - dripping external tap - gushing waste pipes - large bin of stale dirty water with rubbish in right by the table - back gate open not secure for small children - dirty toilets - delayed food - over cooked tea cake - cold coffee - uncomfortable cheap flimsy outside chairs that were wet on a sunny day !! Will never visit again goodness only knows how dirty it was behind scenes

We visited on a Friday afternoon, for a late lunch after a long walk. Staff very friendly & helpful. We were shown to a table after it had been cleaned down. Food well presented & side salad fresh. Will visit again when we are in the area.

Visited with friends with the hope of a relaxing coffee and cake experience. Unfortunately it was most unpleasant and served with below standard food. The tables and menus were dirty, so we decided to sit outside but that was just as bad. There were cups...

Visited a few times but won't be visiting again. Usually they have a mature lady running the cafe but this visit it was two young teenagers. It states breakfast served till 12.00 it was 11.45 and I was told that the breakfast menu was finished,...

Awful coffee, cheap sausage, tomato from can.... And it took an hour for a simple breakfast, just because they served people who arrived after us! Never sit outside if you want to be served and not to be forgotten. No picture, sorry. Wasn't worth for it . If you want to eat good quality food, go to FRANCESCA's Café in SCARBOROUGH where you will have a quality food for reasonable price .

I came in as I had to wait around so thought I'd treat myself to a breakfast... Well cafe wasn't busy but the breakfast took a while so I thought yes all freshly cooked and I wasn't in a hurry so didn't mind the wait......

Been before and it was ok so went again when passing through. Wow this place has gone downhill. Other customers complaining they had been waiting half an hour for coffee and cake. We ordered soft drinks as it was warm and were given cans from a multipack and a dirty glass. Waited over half an hour for a cheese sandwich. When it finally turned up it was thick with margarine and barely a sprinkling of cheese. Ate half but could only taste marg. No cutlery around even though there was a large dollop of coleslaw and salad on the plate. Staff didn't seem to have a clue. Would avoid in future.

Café On the Wolds appears to be a popular cafe and most of the tables were occupied when we arrived. The staff were friendly but the service was somewhat slow.

Popped in for a cuppa with my family and my mum being gluten and dairy free we were unsure of the options. The staff were very accommodating and made sure that she could eat all the ingredients. The latte made with coconut milk went down...

Went in, told to take a seat and she'd come over. Had to wait until she served another customer who came in after us. The coffee was nice, but had to drink it quickly because of the service.

Myself and my partner came in on a Wednesday morning. When we arrived it looked like the staff were unprepared for opening as there was still cash over the counter side even though it was twenty minutes after the stated opening time. The drinks arrived...

Been a few times with friends as its a lovely cafe with gorgeous coffee... 1 fault is the young member of staff...leaning on counter texting and I'm sure taking selfies...unprofessional ...and off putting ...more important then the job sometimes as shes texting and other staff...

Had a lovely impromptu breakfast was greated by 2 lovely smiles food was freshly prepared so the little wait was well worth it as the breakfasts we had were lovely and fresh . Service was fast and the price was well worth it will pop again when j have another day off . Keep up the great work ladies .

Sadly not impressed at all waited 45 minutes for this breakfast , only us waiting for cooked food , it arrived half cold , beans by the tin load , mushrooms very sparse , bacon see through , sausage pasty, toast already buttered , table not cleaned , pots just cleared not wiped we watched this happen , the girl putting her fingers in her mouth then serving drinks etc absolutely disgusting , will never visit again 🤮

Stopped here whilst visiting Market Weighton for a coffee and to feed the little ones when we first arrived the member of staff rather rudely informed us there was no seats inside which was fine we don't mind a bit of Al fresco dining even...

Nice place for a drink or bite to eat.

Visited today and I was sadly disappointed to say the least. Ordered a bacon sandwich which cost £3.50 and came on very basic white bread and very simple looking bacon, for that price I would at least expect some decent bread. Also the table hadn't been wiped down from the previous visit. Sadly I won't be returning.

Had a bacon butty, it was ok bread was cheap and nasty and expensive for what you got. I wouldn’t recommend.

I took my sister and family here for her birthday and we all had a cooked breakfast. It was very good value for money and a really tasty breakfast. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, hoping to go again soon.

Nice food, just a slight mix up with the order. My partner doesn't like cucumber, and this was noted next to his order, but the cucumber was put on his plate and left off mine. Reasonably priced, quick service. Staff were chatty.

One child is gluten free and was pleased to hear they had gluten free bread so decided on having brunch there. Our server, Ben, was exceptional. So helpful and happy. Food was outstanding! Nothing but praise for the cafe, staff & food. Thank you Lynne for a pleasant experience. If we didn't live so far away (Kent), we would be visiting regularly. We'll done!!
