The Hall and Grounds were beautiful and perfect for the type of day we wanted/expected, the staff were all very lovely and helpful also, we hope to revisit in warmer weather. The place as a whole seemed all rather confusing when there to what the website stated, we weren’t sure where to go for what as you pay the person at the gate as you drive in but then if you want more things you pay in the gift shop....?? The main issue we had was visiting the cafe first, we were all quite hungry, it was about 13:15, we then spent about 50 minutes from ordering to receiving our few basic meals. The cafe was fairly busy but I wouldn’t say excessively. The food order that arrived was also wrongly taken but by that point we were that hungry we just accepted it. Having said that the food when it finally arrived was decent. This severely cut into the time we had before darkness fell to get round everything before they stopped/closed.

Popped in for a lunchtime snack, good choice of hot and cold food. A variety of cakes, drinks and ice creams to choose from. Ordered two ham and cheese paninis, took a short time for them to arrive however we would rather have nicely cooked fresh food than a poor imitation. Good quality ingredients used which resulted in a delicious meal. Staff are polite and efficient, we will definitely pay another visit to this cafe.

They need a time and motion study or at least some spoons to give out with numbers on as staff wander around looking for customers and some are to shy to shout out. It is clean enough and the food isn't to bad.

I was looking forward to having a Christmas Lunch experience in the grand house at normanby hall, what a total and utter disappointment it was! On arriving we were greeted by a lovely lady who was friendly and welcoming. The entrance looked lovely, Christmas decorations together with a beautiful open fire. We were directed to the bar to purchase drinks and this is where it all started to go wrong. We entered the dining room, found our own table by reading the name tags. We sat and waited and waited. I eventually got up and asked what the procedure would be. Eventually the starter was brought out (which I have to say was very nice). Then for the main course. We opted for turkey which was dry, the Brussel sprouts were mush, gravy tasteless but worst of all everything was cold, it was awful. The dessert was ok but by this time my partner who virtually ate nothing had given up and we left, we didn’t even wait for coffee. The room despite having a tree and a garland on the mantle was void of any Christmas ambience, just nothing, it resembled eating in a works canteen! The service was appalling not what I would expect for £26 a head. I was soooo disappointed and would NEVER recommend it to anyone or go again.

Well presented Hall, good farming museum display (though the display brochures need referencing better to the displays), the grounds are extensive. Catering needs a makeover (teapots that don't pour and fill the saucer, and a rather uninspired chips and cheesy wedge menu means a picnic hamper makes the Day)Land train and model railway rides are good value,we spent a full day here and went home happy. Needs the catering bringing out of the greasy food age,but it is a good venue, with scope for detail management improvement.Enjoy!

I personally found this venue to be of a very plesant area . It has many delightful features . dotted around the park that tell its own story , The children s area is quit good with peacocks and other birds out and about . The lake is a pretty peaceful area to view filled with many large fish and ducks that one can feed , if you wish to purchase some food . The antique shop is interesting - The Restaurant Sells wonderful fresh cut sandwiches a good selection of snacks available , all in all a very pleasant day out for both couples singles and familial alike .

Really nice place, beautiful grounds, outstanding outside walking area right through a forest and gardens. A bit disappointed that there wasn't more of the house to see.. Considering it's size there wasn't even a quarter of it to look around which was a shame ... Staff were very friendly and the housekeeper was a lovely lady who gave us a lot of information on the history of the house and the Richards family.. A lot of building and renovation work going on but it can't be helped.. Lovely place though :-)

A great time for all ages. There's a play area as a first 'port of call' from the car park for kids, a shop, demonstrations, huge grounds to play ball games etc, pond, Country House former home of the Sheffield family, a deer park and much more. Check out dates for events. Recent events were a classic car show and new car/custom car show. A family season ticket (2 + 2) is £22 for 2015. Well worth it if you're likely to make even two visits in the year. We only live 5 miles away, but thoroughly enjoy just taking a walk around the grounds on a weekend or a sunny evening. There's a cafe too and the Sheffield Arms pub just a mile or so away in Burton.

A last minute decision to visit Normanby Hall Country park was an eye opener for a different park to walk round. Its a hidden gem steeped in History which was involved in providing convalescence for 1st World war soldiers. The grounds has an excellent area for picnics even though there's a cafe and food available at reasonable prices. The train takes you round to see the deer which roam freely, there is a lovely walled garden, and a farming museum.prices are reasonable with annual pass available.great for all ages.

Even though I live only 22 miles away from here I had never visited before. Arrived as the grounds opened but had to wait until 1 pm for the house and farming museum to open. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit around the house and thought the farming museum was exceptional. The food in the cafe is nothing special so I will be taking a picnic next time as plenty of grass to sit on or tables and seats around the park. Well catered for children with playgrounds and walks. A thoroughly enjoyable day out. I will be back.

We're a family of 2 adults & 3 children who like to take days out, visiting local areas. We decided to visit Normandby Hall (Sunday 27th July) for a walk with our dog and picnic. We got there to find the per person rate at nearly £6 per adult and nearly £3 per child to be extremely over priced for what you get for your money. I appreciate that the upkeep of the Hall and grounds need to be met but the price is way too high. We purchased a seasonal ticket as this only cost £2 more but as we sat there having our picnic, it dawned on me that we had paid a lot of money to do so!! Hubbards Hills is not too far away& is just £1 for the car park and the rest is free, including a play in the stream for the kids. The 2 places are similar (excluding the hall but having a dog with us prevented us from going in anyway). The Land train was an extra expense at £1per person, and the steam train (only 20p) but this was not in operation at the time we went. We did have an enjoyable day out as they had an orchestra playing, but £22 is too much, lower the prices and see many more people through the gates. We did visit the café, very mediocre, had a monopoly and found the prices to be on the high side, so all in all, an expensive picnic!!

Living locally we visit the park year round. The entrance fee is way over priced through the summer months but buying an annual pass gives you a great cheaper option. This also includes free enter entrance to the hall. The cafe is ok for a coffee but I wouldn't bother with the food.

This country pile is owned by the council and is surrounded by grounds suitable for a pleasant stroll. The weather was against this the day we visited for a Christmas meal. Entrance door with a notice saying 'closed' a poor start, as they were open. The meal itself was solid canteen standard. The dreaded carvery meats, lots of massed veg on trays, and some tasteless stuffing. For pud I took what I thought was a safe choice, cheese. The crackers were soft and the precut cheese had been cut sometime earlier. A Xmas cracker obtained a tiny plastic gift. The staff OK. The room clean, the background carols a little loud at the start. This might be better if in a large noisy party but all in all underwhelming. Good thing that we were with friends.
