Urban Deli in Sheffield

Good food, kind setvice. A nice place where you can enjoy a breakfast or sandwich. Some plates have reasonable prices, others look overpriced.

I was meeting a friend around 8.30 am and needed somewhere that opened early for an indoors breakfast with table service. Sheffield city centre has many cafes in the centre doing takeaway breakfasts, but surprisingly few with a table service full English. The city has just emerged from the latest Covid lockdown which doesn't help. This place was a good find, but I had to ring to check as the indoors menu wasn't easy to locate online. It is located in a pleasant location behind the cathedral. The interior is quite large, so social distancing is very reassuring here. We both ordered the British breakfast - the only slight disappointment was that black pudding wasn't in stock on the day we visited. The food was well presented, generously portioned and tasty although perhaps the baked beans could have been warmer - a common bugbear. The price at £8.25 was slightly higher than local average but not unreasonable. This consisted of 2 bacon, 2 sausage, scrambled egg, hash brown, mushroom, beans, tomato and toast if I remember correctly. The Cappuccino was very nice and quite large for £3. Staff were friendly and didn't rush us. Would probably use again

Leí una reseña antes de aceptar un turno de prueba que decía que UrbanDeli no le había pagado a una joven por su trabajo, y que sentía que la habían aprovechado como estudiante. Lo ignoré, sin pensarlo mucho, ya que también hay muchas críticas positivas de la compañía. Sin embargo, tres turnos más tarde, estoy en la misma posición donde la compañía no me ha pagado por mi trabajo.

Visitamos un martes, probablemente después de las 2 pm, así que fue bastante tranquilo. Pedimos un sándwich caliente que era muy sabroso y venía con una buena ensalada. También teníamos una taza de té para dos que tenía al menos 6 tazas llenas. Para el desierto tuvimos una galleta y galletas de mantequilla millonarias. Bonito lugar que volvería de nuevo.

I was looking for a light lunch. First visit, and the food in the fridge at the front counter looked yummy. I wanted a vegetable samosa from the counter. I was asked if I wanted to eat in or take out. I decided to eat in and found a table. The food on the menu was completely different to what was in the fridges, and the menu had very little choice for vegetarians. I asked if I could have the samosa to eat in, but no, I was not allowed. I left, confused.

We knew this place jad nice coffee and lunch but the breakfast were amazing! We had the eggs Benedict and eggs royale. Perfectly cooked. It cost more than usual places but really recommend it (£7-£9) Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

The wife and I went around midday, walked in and looked at the large menu straight ahead of us. Deciding that we wanted a hot sandwich, we made our choice, then saw a board which advised if we were wanting to eat in, to find a table and someone would be along to take our order. On taking a seat, we noticed there were about 4 other tables full, one lady taking orders and another at the till, serving people who wanted takeaway food/drinks. Now, we only had 40 minutes before we had to be back at the office, so hoped there wouldn't be too long of a wait. After about 10 minutes our order was taken, one pot of tea, one hot chicken and stuffing sandwich and one hot pork and trimmings sandwich. Since we had waited a while already we did ask whether the food would be long and were told they would be made straight away. The tea arrived around 10 minutes later. Then the lady who took our order came to check whether the pork and trimmings sandwich was in fact a BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, to which we replied no. Another 10 minutes later, our food arrived. With only 10 minutes to go, we asked that they were packaged up to take out. This was done and my wife went to pay. £14.25 ! On our reckoning, the 2 sandwiches and pot of tea should have come to around £9. It so transpired that despite being told twice that we wanted a hot pork and trimmings sandwich, we were given a BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, from the 'eat in' menu, which was for some reason double the price of the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich from the main menu on the wall. Looking around, it is hard to determine that there is a separate eat in and eat out menu, no obvious signage anywhere. Needless to say, after waiting 30 minutes for a simple order, and being given a different order to that requested, we returned the sandwiches and were given a refund, minus the tea. A lunchtime wasted in my opinion, we left hungry, annoyed and disappointed. At least we know where never to go in the future.

Was impressed with the quality at this stylish place- my breakfast breadcake was packed with great bacon and my flat white was smooth and tasty. Staff were friendly and it is a buzzy but unhurried atmosphere- I sat at a table and did some work and wasn't bothered. A bit tucked away but actually very central. Prices on the high side but justified by the quality on my visit.

Used to be a regular haunt on a Friday when I worked in Sheffield, as a treat. Went back to meet with old work mates and it didn’t disappoint. Always friendly and the lamb samosa - can’t beat it. Recommended.

Good breakfast and great service. Prices are not the cheapest,but you pay for what you get in life so I would definitely return. All in all would definitely recommend

We went for breakfast. Great breakfast menu. Usual things I.e. full fried breakfast but you could have 4 portions or 5 of your choice in place of the full breakfast. Loads of other thing to choose from. I had a croissant filled with Brie, avocado and salmon. Have to say it was delicious. Friendly staff and good service. The deli part of the shop looked well stocked with interesting things. Prices were very reasonable all round. Would highly recommend this deli. Lunch menu also looked very varied and interesting.

Their lunch salad is good no doubt, and they seems to have instructions not to fill it fully. If you are nice then you will be handed partially filled salad box, and that's unfair

Title explains it all really but great fresh salad on offer that you can customize in a box to go. Tasty sausage rolls on offer including chorizo and black pudding and hearty hot sandwiches

Me and my other half went here a few weeks ago and we found when we walked in the takeaway menu looked great, with a wide range of selection. The inside menu looks good. We ordered the cheese burger and it came medium, but then as we ate it, it got rarer as it went through and at the end it was rare. Wasn’t overly impressed. At the time there was a ‘we’re hiring’ poster on the door and you could tell they needed more staff inside.

Great food, with lots of choice. Not eaten in but a regular at work lunch. Often busy but managed well.

Called her today to have lunch with my other half, I ordered the spicy veggie Burger was looking forward to a tasty homemade burger what I got was a Birdseye Vegetable burger served with ice cold roasted vegetables that totally overpowered the whole meal, the bread was vet dry and far too thick. My other half ordered the pulled pork sandwich, he said this was ok but the coleslaw that came on the sandwich was too much and again overpowered the toast of the pork may have been better served on the side.

I've been in for take away sandwiches on a few occasions and the food has always been really good. I'll keep visiting on a regular basis for lunch.

This deli is very nice - good range of drinks, excellent food and a nice vibe. The location is ok - probably a bit too 'tucked away' - unless you know it's here, you'd miss it. Would recommend.

Así Urbano Delicatessen tiene críticas mixtas (aunque lo experiencia de una persona de ser empleado por ellos tiene que ver con una experiencia que no sé). De todas maneras, que casi disuadir por algunas de las críticas, pero me alegro de que no lo era. El lugar tiene un buen ambiente, con un montón de madera (mesas, platos, contadores), aunque la temperatura ligeramente en el lado guay! Tuve un gran Sandwich scot, que era una delicia caliente y picante de salmón; y un americano, que era tan bueno como el de tarde. El servicio fue rápido y con una sonrisa, aunque a la hora de pagar el miembro de personal no parecía notarlo yo estaba allí, y lo dejé a alguien, que parecía un poco molesto. En general, no está mal, y no está tan mal como algunos de los comentarios sugieren.

No TRABAJO PARA ESTAS PERSONAS. ! ! ! Espantoso, aplicado para un trabajo antes de Navidad trabajó 8 horas 12 incluyendo una prueba y aún no se han pagado casi 3 meses más tarde! Como un estudiante que aprovechamos, no me sorprende si han hecho antes o lo hará de nuevo! Innumerables mails solicitando ser abonado y no recibí nada! Tan inmoral y asqueroso!

Un buen servicio y un buen desayuno: salchichas, huevos cocinados perfectamente bien, presentada de forma ligeramente gruesas. pan tostado blanco

Llegamos a las 3 de la tarde, la comida era aferrarse - filmó pero personal begrudginly dijeron que sería abierto hasta las 4. 30:00 h. Mi comida, pero nunca he estado hicieron sentir muy incómodos en cualquier lugar antes, la camarera me parecían odiar. Justo antes de las 4 pm apagaron las luces, así que conseguimos la indirecta y la izquierda. Sinceramente, no me habría importado si tenían vino y me explicó que necesitaba para cerrar temprano y preguntó si nos marchábamos. Te recomiendo que pruebes en realidad hablando con la gente en vez de hacer que se sientan tan incómodos que no tienes más remedio que salir. Como alternativa, ¿por qué no cerrar antes si es tan incómodo tener clientes entrando en este momento?

Had breakfast here today, went for the scrambled eggs and salmon however no salmon was available so I opted for the breakfast without toast. Very good quality ingredients and a very good black coffee with it.£10.25 all today so more expensive than a greasy spoon but then again you get better quality ingredients!!Excellent service from all the staff

It gets busy at lunchtime and can get very warm but at quieter times it's great. Great salads and soups and lovely cakes!

Oh my! The Bbq pulled pork sandwich is just so good!! Great service, great food, great vibe!! Definitely recommend!

Due to my coffee habit I popped in when in Sheffield to grab a flat white , I ended up getting another and a sandwich to take out .Coffee is really nice and flat white was made well , asked if I wanted it slightly hotter as they knew I was taking it somewhere else to drink . Massive choice for take out lunches , salads , sandwiches , etc .Different breads ,generous fillings but on the expensive side but they do fill the sandwich up so you don't feel short changed .But they do sell fruit at the counter and I'm sure I only paid 35p for a banana which was great as Ive paid 95p at greggs before !!!! ( I'm fully aware I can get a bunch for a pound but they get squashed in my bag )I really like it here but I find the staff efficient and nice but no one ever seems to smile .

I love the decor and the vibe and I really love the bbq pulled pork sandwich!!! Great place for a quick snack or meal.

Went a few years ago. So I return on 25th April. As the previous visit was so good. Again, Great breakfast really tasty and reasonably priced. Service was lovely too. :)

I called in for a lunchtime lunch and was very pleased with my experience here.This is a large place with a mix of sit-in and take-away food. I had an eat-in NYPD burger which was delicious. There is plenty of space inside and so the atmosphere was relaxed and I could eat without the intrusion of neighbouring tables. My coffee was very good indeed.Call in for great combination of food, facilities and price.

Have had a few lunches here, all very high quality, service is good...nice healthy choice of food and drink

I needed to get dinner at lunch on a short time scale so I decided to try this place. The food did come quickly but sadly this was because it wasn't properly cooked. I ordered a burger and wedges and the burger was pink most of the way through. The wedges were nice but there were only four of them. Given that it cost me £10.90 for a meal I couldn't eat and a coke, I would suggest you avoid this place.

Always great cobs/barms here. Had just a lamb samosa and coffee today though. Very nice indeed. I like the location as well. Just off West Street. Central but not on the main road.

Went here at lunchtime twice last week. Great range of sandwiches, cobs and baguettes. Coffee nice. Didn't have a cake but they looked great. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended.

Our second visit for a late breakfast .The staff are always friendly and the service is quick .The coffee is always really good and reasonably priced.I really like the breakfast menu and love the eggs with pesto and Parmesan and my husband enjoyed his eggs florentine as well .The only thing I would prefer is a pepper grinder as I find the pepper shakers a bit tasteless on eggs but then I do like ALOT of pepper on my food.Also I know it's not aimed at children and is more suited to office workers due to its position but it would be nice to have a highchair ( although I've never asked directly so they might have one ) we do tend to go to a lot of similar style places and they tend to have one or two tucked away. The deli area and the seating area are always spotless and it's very spacious as well.

Such a bad visit. Terrible service but above all the food was awful. The food is nothing what is described in the menu! The staff and menu need a big overhaul. No where near the standard it should be. Sheffield should be better than this!

Stopped here for a bite to eat in the afternoon. Had a great coffee and a nice chocolate cake. The other items looked equally tempting. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Not too busy in the afternoon after the office rush at lunch - nice.

No one took our order so had to order at the till.Brought the wrong drinks at the first attempt.We were then asked to move so people could sit down who were eating as we were 'only drinking'.Tried to complain when paying. The girl was only interested in where we had been sitting so she could take the money.No acknowledgement of the complaint other than an indifferent 'I will pass your comments on'.

I popped in here for lunch with a colleague. We both chose the pulled pork special and a coke. It was a pretty good sandwich, although a handful to eat, as it kept wanting to disintegrate in my hands. I think I will be trying this again, even if just for a coffee and cake.

The first morning wandering around Sheffield I was looking for a hip little bustling cafe to have a nice big English breakfast. I walked past this one early on, thinking that I could find a bit more bustle but returned half an hour later after not finding it. There were a few more people by the time I got back, but still not much bustle!The space is quite nice and funky from the inside, which can be a bit hard to appreciate from the street. It certainly is nothing too original on the world cafe scene, kinda balancing on the edge between large quality cafe chain and independent cafe made with love. I would give it a thumbs up though, nice spot to be.I have been here a couple of times over the last couple of days now and may well find myself here again this morning when they open, can't sleep - jet lag!I ordered the full English breakfast both days and it has been consistent and a good size. Forgot to eat lunch after on both days and survived! It is served on a platter which is the rage at the moment, which works well.The orange juice is not freshly squeezed but despite being kinda brown in colour - I am assuming there is a reason for this - is still good.The service is nice and reasonably efficient. I was remembered on my second visit, which is always nice. You won't get that in a cafe chain!

I have used Urban Deli many times, mainly because my office is a minute away and it's convenient. However, I have noticed over the past few months the place is getting worse. My recent sandwich order, with next to no filling was atrocious for the price. I always give it another go despite being unimpressed on more than several occasions. I definitely wont be returning.

I would not recommend this deli to my worst nightmare. I ordered an overpriced sandwich, of which the bread was off and the contents I could hardly taste, a Brie, cranberry and bacon. The bacon black and left for too long on display and the Brie rock hard. The gentlemen serving had no gloves and dirty fingernails and the service was very poor, he was trying to explain a little too much about his fresh produce when the product was far from it. If i had not been starving I would not have ate the quater of the sandwich before discarding the rest. Don't waste time or money.

Took a friend here for a cooked breakfast. Quiet spot in Sheffield, comfortable and friendly and beautifully served and cooked food.

I have been ordering sandwiches for my work place for a while now, and we all love Urban Deli. Good selection, prompt delivery or collection every time and lovely food.

Sorry guys but £4.50 for a fresh ciabatta sandwich with next to no filling and soggy bread is just not good. Wouldn't return.

My team and I have been a couple of times for lunch - it is decent food and portions, compared to some other similar places near by.Service has always been good and food tasty and filling. The burgers look good though I've not had one yet.

Went for there great british breakfast lovely full breakfast door stop toast enjoyed everything on the plate and good service

Just been for my 2nd visit here and have to say the food was excellent, as good as the first time. I had an english breakfast brunch, which was fantastic. Cappuccinos are good too, just as I like them - strong.

Went for breakfast with my friends.. waited over 30mins for a veggie breakfast... and we all received the wrong order with greeny blue mould on the all the toast.. absolutly disgusted by it.. could have ate this and im pregnant!!! sky high prices... for poor service and contaminated food. never going back again.

This is my regular lunch stop when i have meetings in Sheffield. Great choice of sandwich fillings and bread types, good coffee, plenty of other bits; e.g. cakes, crisps etc.. Nice atmosphere.

Very good café in the centre of Sheffield in a city which is really short on quality places to eat. Prices are about the same as a gastro pub but the portions are good sized and tasty. Service is friendly and swift and the food is of a good quality. Would visit again

The deli is amazing, great food with lots of variety. The staff are amazing, always helpful and although very busy always take the time to discuss what you want and even when you don't know they will come up with something. I go 3 times a week for lunch/sandwich and it never varies, always consistently good. They locally source food and use local artwork. Everything is fresh. The toilets are very clean and always spotless. I would recommend this place to anyone from a simple coffee, to coffee and cake, lunch or sandwich. Very friendly staff at breakfast time and they do the best scrambled egg I've eaten!Coffee is good, very strong and gives you a proper wake up after a long drive.It could be argued that it's a bit pricey but I think the quality of the food/drink makes it worth it.

Was passing this today and called in for a spot of lunch.Unhappy & unhelpful staff.Very Expensive.Small portions.More like a 2nd rate copy of a costa than an independent coffee shop/cafe.Visit Blue Moon instead.

Just been for lunch and am really disappointed by the experience. On the positives: menu interesting and varied, the space is airy and pleasant, we found a table easily. On the downside we waited 40 minutes after we ordered for our food to arrive. We were told different things - that all orders are prepared in order - clearly not true as we saw people who came after us get theirs before us. We were told that it was being served up (we waited another 15 mins after that). I just wish they's admitted they'd forgotten the order. That wasn't the only thing though. My daughter explicitly asked for no tomatoes. We could have opened a tomato shop with the number that came with her order. My partner's meal should - according to the menu - have had two poached eggs. It came with one. My Moroccan lamb with pesto and harissa was definitely more Italian than North African - barely any cumin or harissa. On their own, these wouldn't have been major issues, but together it showed that someone has lost a grip on the quality of this cafe. And with the prices they charge - it isn't cheap - I'd expected better.Having said that, things do go wrong, and it's how a business deals with its mistakes that can make a difference. All we got were blank looks and a very limp 'really?' when I explained what had happened. Wouldn't recommend it (except perhaps as a take away or as an emergency if the nearby Blue Moon or Wig & pen is full)

Opens good and early just after 7-7.30 and ideal for a excellent breakfast - especially the eggs benedict topped of with a strong latte coffee - for less than you'd pay for breakfast in a hotel! Lunches equally good and a delightful range of favourites but all presented a little bit differently. Wonderful bread they have here too. . .free WiFi making this an excellent venue for an early morning meeting. I really cannot find anything to dislike. The staff are brilliant, polite, helpful and patient and along with keen prices I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Had breakfast at Urban Deli and it was excellent! All ingredients were lovely, but the bacon was excellent. Food came quickly, but was obviously freshly cooked. It cost £10 for two breakfasts on a Saturday morning - fantastic value.My only irritant was the way it was served on a bowl shaped plate on a wooden tray, which made it a bit difficult to eat.

Urban Deli has a delicious range of sandwiches, salads and snacks however although the food is really good, the portions are so small. The price of food is quite expensive compared to your average sandwich bar, however if I am paying £3 plus for a sandwich I would expect the fillings to be generous. Although I always enjoy the food I am always left hungry after. The shop itself is really nice, it also has a lovely seating area and the staff are always really friendly, as mentioned my only issue is with the tight portion sizes and expensive prices for what you receive.

Food is lovely but its too expensive, apart from the samosa which is cheap and really nice i have one for lunch regularly :)

I used to come here for lunch very often, and when you stay in to eat the food is fantastic. The service is friendly, if a little slow for lunchtime trade, but I think that depends on what you order. The sandwiches that they make for you to take out, however, look shoddily thrown together and are a bit on the stingy side considering the price. However, having said that, this is a review of the restaurant and that is very good.

I had an all day breakfast here on 10th and 11th Jan and it was freshly cooked, delicious, with good quality ingredients, it kept me full all day. The cafe is quiet and nice to sit in, it was open at 7.30am which meant I had peaty of time to enjoy my breakfast and ad one of the free papers. The breakfast was far better value than in a hotel, I paid £9.50 for a generous plate full, two eggs, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes plus toast and a huge cup of tea. Well worth a visit, much better than hotel food!

Don't understand the negative reviews on here, went in today for breakfast and it was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best in Sheffield, food quality is great and you can tell they must have got good local suppliers. will go back next Saturday morning!

Sub standard bland sandwich, green salad instead to the listed rocket. Told I had to sit in the window if I wanted to eat in and out of my paper bag, not given dining in option. Won't return..

Dont waste your time or money. Poor service, poor quality, a lot of talk but no action...I would have rated this a zero if possible. I thought Gusto Italanio was bad, but Urban Deli - wins the competition for the worst dining experience in Sheffield that I have had after over a decade and a half of living here...

The decor and fixtures and fittings suggest that Urban Deli fancy themselves as a hip hang-out rather than the tatty greasy spoon they really are. The prices are astronomical considering the quality and the service. The bread was stale and hard and the chicken was that processed re-formed stuff that I hate! I only went there because I thought they were supposed to be conscienciously against that sort of thing... fresh and locally sourced? Yeah right. Vacuum packed and frozen more like.

Nice pasta and meatballs - good for lunch.
