Visited Waggon and Horses on November 1st and had a good experience. The steak and ale pie was top notch, and the pint of Thornbridge Jaipur was perfectly poured. The cask ale selection is always impressive, and I appreciate that they usually have a good pale ale available. The pub itself is a beautiful old building, with a cozy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing evening out. The location is also great, right next to Millhouses Park, making it a great stop after a walk in the park. I highly recommend Waggon and Horses to anyone looking for a great pub experience in Sheffield. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food and drink were excellent. We'll definitely be back!

I had lunch here on Wednesday 30th with my daughter in law and my baby grandson. My daughter in law ordered a pizza which was nice. I ordered the chicken pie and chips with mushy peas. However. The pie crust and pastry was so hard to get into, the chips weren't chips but potato wedges which were obviously heated up from before and hard plus they were cold. They tasted disgusting The only good thing was the mushy peas and even the gravy wouldn't even soften the pie. Very disappointed indeed. This is a place where I used to enjoy going to.

Dropped in for lunch & really enjoyed it. Fairly good menu, with vegetarian and vegan options. My companion & I both had sausage & mash, and it was a very good portion & I loved the inclusion of cabbage as a veggie side. My only criticism was that it came with a rich onion gravy & mine was more onions than gravy, but it tasted good. Staff very pleasant & helpful. It's on the edge of a busy park, so whilst there is some parking off-street, it is limited and in-street can be full. Definitely will go back.

Had a family meal here with the Kids , service and food was of a reasonably good standard. We tried Haddock and chips, Fish pie, kids veggie burger and veggie pasta. All of it was of a decent standard. It was our second visit for lunch. This place is so convenient for Millhouses Park and even has a private gate from the car park directly into the park.

Sunday roast post: I recently saw an article for the best roast in the city from the local paper claiming that X might be the best in the city. Clearly they didn’t visit the Waggon on a Sunday before writing the article. Then they would know that it IS the best roast in the city. You’d think if it’s a True North (of which I love all) then surly they’d all be the same? How wrong you are. Broadfield’s is very good too but, the Waggon, oh my! The Waggons 😙 🤌🏻 Because whoever is chef at the Waggon on a Sunday, knows how to treat a ‘tato / piece of meat. Plus mixing it up with fresh seasonal veg, it keeps you interested. I the lamb 10/10 same for the beef (and turkey at Xmas) However, I need to tell you about the pork belly. I have never liked pork belly. Chewy and something about the inch of fat has never sat right with me. My partner is mad for it and she always orders it. When it came I was like, “okay, I’ve never seen it like that. And what’s the crispy char all about? And why does it smell so damn good!?”. I tried some of hers. I still don’t like pork belly. BUT I LIKE THE WAGGON’S GOD DAMN PORK BELLY! If that’s not a compliment then I don’t know what is. From the varying images we have from our many visits gloating to friends and family where we are on a Sunday. THIS is the best Sunday roast in Sheffield. It’s quality, the right portion because you’re satisfied (and I’m a greedy git) tastes perfect and is cooked to perfection. Bravo 👏 Ps. If the chef changes then this review is null and void 😂 but I still ❤️ the Waggon

Usually such places offer an extremely limited selection for non-animal eaters. Not so here! The advantage of a limited selection is that the choice is easy. Here, I had a real problem – spoilt for choice! I went for the nori marinated tofu with creamy leek and potatoes and I'd recommend you do the same. It tasted delicious, absolutely divine! Loved it! And washed down with a nice pint of Stones bitter in a welcoming pub ambiance – what's not to like?

This restaurant used to great spot for food unsure if under new terrible management and the food is horrendous . I order a burger with truffles ( addictions cost) and the pizza ( pizza was decent ) . The fries came separate in which took 20 minutes for my burger to arrive I then I had to ask for fresh fries and had advocate for myself . When I order my burger I specific said NO BACON as I had an allergy . Sent back by this time I didn’t even want to and had to request a manager and once again advocate for a refund . She didn’t even want to know what was wrong with my experience and the rest the people that also were unsatisfied . I told the manager I paid extra for truffle fries and I also needed that refunded - she turned around and I asked me if I had eaten them ? Like what? After just explained to you all your food was cold, uncooked fries from inside ( and which I don’t how it is possible as this frozen French fries ) , unflavoured, and you could have caused me an allergy , and she asked me that. I could not believe . This manager requires training because anyone with great standard of customer service skills to ease the experience tension would ask for an alternative and fully refund my whole meal with an apologise , which she did not . She told me I had to be more specific about my allergies . Disappointing as this is great spot but I will never be returning or recommend to anyone .

my first visit was a Sunday roast lunch, it was delicious so much better than Toby carvery, however on my second visit for dinner I ordered fish and chips the fish was good but the chips very terrible it appear soak in oil very brown as if it was refried, for those who eat with their eyes, it was not an eye candy, it basically did not look delicious, when I ask about the appearance the waitress said it was blanched but the chip was not described on the menu as blanched,, so they offer my friend and I fries instead

The Wobbly Wanderers were here for a Funeral Wake. It is a large pub serving a variety of Beers & Lagers. The food was good.quality quantity and well presented. The only complaint is parking.... as it was busy we had to park in a raised section on the right hand side as you enter. It is a very tight entrance turn with a large high wall and narrow opening. Judging by the scuffs on the wall there's been quite a few scrapes getting in.

Not sure if it’s been taken over by someone but couldn’t have been more disappointed. Used to really enjoy the food here, but couldn’t eat what we had today. The aranchini was flavourless and came with a strange sweet chilli sauce. The terrine lacked flavour and didn’t come with any bread so was quite literally a slab on the plate. We had 3 roast dinners. Roast potatoes had never seen an oven in their life, boiled potatoes at best, and the Yorkshire puddings were very clearly cooked previously and re-heated. And the servers clearly didn’t want to be there. Although no one was particularly rude there was little to no enthusiasm. There are lovely fires, but don’t expect to get warm after a wet walk, the staff don’t seem to want them on. All in all, won’t be rushing back and won’t be recommending either.

Okay, the Sunday Lunch review: The food is absolutely stunning, there is no denying it. Quality cuts of butchers meat, delicious roasted vegetables, perfect Yorkshire puddings. The ideal viscosity of gravy, with more provided when asked. You’re paying £16 - £18.50 for a roast. It’s pretty standard if you don’t want the average crap you could easily make at home. This is a cut above your usual roast that’s for sure and the quality of the meat is worth it. OKAY! Why 4 stars? Because they ran out of chicken and beef before we even ordered at 2pm!! Please sort this out! I saw another review mention this and thought surely they wouldn’t let that happen again. Chicken and Beef!! Literally the 2 biggest players in the roast dinner game. We were a table of 11 and they smashed it with the service. 2 younger girls I wish I got their names to mention them but they did really well (we were in Sunday 21st at 1:30pm so whoever was working then that fits the description lol) give them extra tips!! Dessert was delicious but again they’d ran out of crème brûlée. Increase your preparations to increase customer satisfaction 📈 You’ve definitely earned repeat customers - just make sure you have beef next time - you upset half of our table with that one! 🥩🚫☹️

A really nice pub with lots of character, large but broken up into lots of nooks and crannies. Unfortunately for me I was very let down by the food. I have food intolerances including wheat and milk. I was handed the Allergen menu which consisted of several A4 pages. However, out of all the food available there were only 2 items that did not contain either Wheat or Milk - these were chips and Tomato and Rocket salad which consisted of a bowl of tomatoes and rocket which was soaked in balsamic vinegar (I assumed it would come with the dressing separate). They were unable to provide me with a meal.

We chose the W&H as the menu catered for all of us. Unfortunately when we came to order here was very limited vegan options and the one we chose only had three servings available. When a menu claims to have vegan and vegetarian options available, it's very disappointing to not be catered for when you arrive for lunch. The one meat option we ordered was also not available. What we eventually ate was ok, but it wasn't what we wanted or expected. Pretty poor really. I rated a three as the waiter was nice, apologetic and possibly a bit embarrassed by having to keep returning to our table with bad news.

Food tasted reheated and pre-prepared, I.e. not fresh. The least I expect when I pay for someone to cook me food is that they make it fresh. I couldn’t pinpoint a single fresh element, other than the under-seasoned garnish for the disappointing Wellington, which was a strange concoction of crispy dough and old pork, wrapped in a cheap imitation chorizo. I was pleased that the establishment saw fit to comp the meal, but it just shouldn’t have happened. The atmosphere is lovely though. Just be cautious with what you order (I wouldn’t go with anything too complex - stick to pub food and you may get something fresh).

I remember driving into Sheffield for years and years thinking how nice this pub looked as I drove past and one day I'd like to visit it. Well after about 30 years that day finally came on my birthday this year. We were in the area and thought what the hell and went to the Waggon. It's a lovely pub inside and out, really nice layout, great ales to choose from. Left the bar, went around the corner and there's a roaring log fire. Bonus! And the staff actually tended to it. And just when I thought it couldn't get better, we chose to eat bar snacks. Talloy chips, pork jowls and Henderson's onion rings. Oh my god they were so good, really filling and incredible value for money. It's a great bar and I cannot wait to go back again.

Great menu ideas with poor execution. On the two times I've visited the food has never been as good as it sounds, or as the high price would suggest. Lovely atmosphere inside most of the time, but for the price I would expect quicker service (not a 1 hour wait between courses like I had last time) with well-seasoned and fairly portioned food (the tiniest bit of gravy on the pie, a stingy scoop of ice cream with the brownie). It's really disappointing, the ideas and the atmosphere are there but the service and food are both unsatisfactory.

Really disappointing experience yesterday unfortunately. Entered the pub from the car park and sat down at one of the many empty tables on the road side of lower level, to be quickly ‘told off’ and sent to the check in point. Then we got sat in the far corner at a very small table despite lots of tables being free in the main and area. We ordered dinner and drinks which was fine. Our Sunday lunches arrived very quickly before the kids burgers, which we had to wait c5 minutes for. And drinks arrived after all dinners which was a shame. Quality of the food was ok, except spare Yorkshire puddings we’d ordered for the kids were COLD and very oily. The biggest disappointment was the kids burgers though, which turned up and were TINY. The burgers were no more than 6/7cm in width and the bread bun had been cut into quarters (two of the sides of the bun had been straight cut with a knife). We checked with the lady who’d served us (who was excellent) if those sizes were normal - she checked and apparently they were. I’d hope that we weren’t mislead, but if the portion size for kids burgers is as served, maybe a note on the menu stating toddler size might have stopped us ordering it for our 10 year old! Won’t be rushing back as felt massively underwhelmed by our visit.

I wasn’t overly impressed. Ants all over the tables outside and my food was a little disappointing. The steak arrived lukewarm, Mac and cheese lacked flavour and I was given the wrong salad. The service was great but I probably won’t be coming back any time soon.

Decent pub grub in a comfortable setting, not too pricey.

We used the outdoor cafe area, rather than the pub. Had a good coffee, milkshakes, and smoothies out facing the park. Would happily come back :) Friendly staff were preparing the drinks outside and open for a chat... Which made the service a bit slow. The menu looks extensive and looking forward to come back for lunch soon!

Great ambience and excellent service. I enjoyed the coffee and cake offer which was not only good value for money, but the cake was delicious too. Nice selection of seating with lots of nooks and crannies. Background music was a little loud but turned down on request. Car parking on site was good at the time I visited (lunchtime). Well trimmed up for Halloween.
