Can’t comment on the rooms as I only went with my family for Sunday dinner which was appalling and the portion sizes was beyond small compared to other pubs/restaurants. I will attach some images wish I had taken more to show the little amount of food I got for £12.50(including my drink) chicken was inedible very tough as if it had been cooked and left under a light for a very long time or cooked in the microwave. This was the same for the veg. The Yorkshire pudding probably could’ve gone through the window if I had tried. The only decent part was the potato roasties which were tiny. Staff also didn’t seem interested in any criticism and the atmosphere was poor. Overall wouldn’t recommend and I do wonder if the chef got their cooking skills from temu.

Can’t comment on the rooms as haven’t seen them, but was on a walk with family and friends today and we decided to stop here for a refreshment with the kids, as I used to come in a few years ago it was a brilliant place with a brilliant atmosphere. There’s a big sign outside saying under new management…. If that’s what you call it. They couldn’t manage if they tried the service is appalling. I ordered an alcohol free product and was told it was same price as the alcoholic version this is not the case in any other establishment then she started shouting “I will show you the paper work on what we pay for them” she lacked customer service skills and was very high rate and didn’t really know what she was doing, same with the male staff behind the bar, he didn’t know the products (even when in line of sight). The pub was empty nobody in at all except staff, no background music or anything just a tv playing day time tv very loud. Cleanliness is not a thing the pub is dirty and the toilets are even worse. My friends went to the toilet and saw the muck everywhere. I was also appalled at how they charged £4.95 for a kids cone with 1 scoop of ice cream on!! My cousin was charged around £6 too much on her card. They just make things up as they go along…. So sad to see once a good pub go down hill…. It needs closing down or managers what know what they are doing!

Had Christmas 🎄 dinner 🍽 here with the ball and chain ⛓️, and both my parents, service excellent, food excellent, atmosphere excellent. I was more than a little concerned that it would be a ping dinner 🍽! I was wrong! The food was all cooked fresh by Chef's, absolutely delicious meal, staff were absolutely faultless and nothing was too much trouble, so impressed we've made enquiries for next Christmas 🎄, and if all goes well we'll be there next year. Can't thank all the staff enough. Thankyou to you all, and a v happy new year. Very reasonable prices as well, also Moretti on draught as well.

The Norfolk Arms is situated on the edge of Sheffield, at the top of Ringinglow Road, opposite the Roundhouse. I used to visit often, from my teenage years onwards, and it was always a great place for a few drinks. After an absence of nearly 20 years, due to no longer living in Sheffield, I was surprised at the changes which had been made, in terms of the entrance being altered and the interior rooms knocked through. I have to say that I preferred it as it was, but it's still a nice place to visit, and the staff were very friendly. It seems to be primarily a restaurant now, but we were still able to get a couple of decent pints before continuing on The Sheffield Round Walk. I'm glad to see that The Norfolk Arms is still open at least.

We ordered our meals my husband stood in a queue for fifteen minutes , we ordered a nachos starter all day breakfast and pie and chips . After just under an hour , the waiter brought out the starter and one main meal I said we didn't want the starter with the meal and he plonked down the plates and walked away I caught the eye of the waitress and she asked if we wanted the meal taking back my husband said he may as well eat it since it was there . The waitress went away and came back with my main meal asking do I want this now I said no and she went away with it I finished my starter by this time my hubby had finished his meal she brought back my meal and asked do I want gravy it was supposed to come with it my hubby's was supposed to come with tea or coffe he never got it . The pie and pastry had no taste the chips were soggy and the gravy was like brown water with lumps in because it wasn't mixed properly . We stayed the night here and the room was lovely and the receptionist was great and the breakfast was nice as well. I would definitely again but I wouldn't eat here staff are slow and don't seem to be able to cope .

No te molestes.

Popped in here for a quiet drink with a view to eating here later in the week....big mistake.Despite only four people been in i have never been so disgusted by the ammount of swear words i had to listen too.you had two older blokes useing the c word all the time. And dont even get me started on the drunk who informed us all that his gf was useing the toilets while on her phone and trust me this review is very tonned down.why the bar person continued to serve this person or never asked people to watch what they were saying i dont know but its little wonder only four people were in here.needless to say we wont be using this cess pool of a place again and will be making sure our friends and family dont.a utter disgrace i look forward to the day it shutsdown....never been so angry in my life.

went to the norfolk arms for sunday lunch we didn't wait long for our lunch .when it came we noticed straight away the roast potatoes were burnt the mashed potatoes were just crushed not mashed and the Yorkshire pudding was like a sponge cake to be fair the veg was nice it was still crunchy .WHen we told the waitress she apologised but when we went to pay the guy behind the bar asked us and again we told him the manager of the restaurant was there she never even looked at us in fact she had her back to us and as we walked out she just looked at the bar man and pulled a face ( as if to say who cares) and believe me she didn't.

If you're going to pay £16.00 for a mixed grill in Yorkshire then you expect it to be of a reasonable standard - both in terms of quantity - and more importantly, quality. This meal did neither. The majority of it, to be frank, was like munching on an overpriced roll of loft insulation. The pork chop was actually 'off' and tasted rancid. The pork sausage was (cheap and) barely cooked. The chicken goujon was tough and overcooked. The mushrooms were barely cooked. The chips (albeit home-made) were lukewarm. The garden peas were like tasteless bullets. My steak – despite requesting rare-medium was well done. Its wafer thin replacement was full of chewy fat and sinew. On the plus side, the gammon was tender and the sauce sachets were...well...sauce sachets.None of us were asked how our meal was - always a big gripe of mine. No hint of an apology was offered when I said I couldn't eat it for the reasons outlined - I was just offered something else from the menu. I politely declined. To be fair to the owner/manager, he did take on board my comments and went some way towards explaining why things had been lacking of late. I hope that the food issues can be resolved and that the venue can secure a good chef, because food issues aside, there was a cosy ambience about the place that I quite liked. The food just let it down.

My second visit to The Norfolk Arms, was not up to scratch!I had a jacket potato with tuna and spring onions, served with a side salad.Cold potato. No spring onions.Paper label included in the salad. After running catering establishments I can only conclude, either, a non qualified chef, or very lazy chef.Beer.... I can only discribe as..... thin. A pint that I am very familiar with, literally tasted watery.

Went Sunday, just after they have had a busy day. they advertise 3 courses including sunday lunch for £10 which sounded great, however they were out of the sunday lunch, we were offered no alternative, just to choose something else from the menu. My husband ordered a pricey mixed grill and I ordered lasagne, we waited 1 hour! Nobody told us there was going to be a delay,We were almost about to leave, his very pricey grill was nothing special and my garlic bread had been cremated so I asked for replacement which I never got.I understand it has been busy but a bit of communication would have been good. nobody asked us how our meals were. I wanted to complain but at the til the chef came out and was stood at the bar looking really hot and bothered so we felt sorry for him and ended up paying full whack for our night.I was quite disgruntled. Its not cheap pub grub, for the price I would have expected better.

Just a few minutes and you're into the tranquil surroundings of the countryside. The Norfolk Arms is in a great spot with great views of the surrounding area.My wife and I went for a spur of the moment meal and a pint. The outdoor area is well kept and seemed to be regularly cleared of empty plates and glasses etc. Plenty of seating and space for kids to run around etc.We decided to eat indoors. The interior is cosy and traditional with a pretty well kept decor. The menu was pretty varied and had plenty of options. I'd always prefer to visit a place that does a few things really well than a huge menu all done badly. The meals we decided on were very tasty, hot and well presented. The quality out-did the price which is always good. Good value for money in my opinion with friendly staff to boot.I would certainly recommend and visit again.

just on the outskirts of sheffield and bordering the peak district with lovely views from the garden. dogs (and smokers) welcome outside and a jar of dog biscuits inside on the bar. busy place with a good atmosphere on a warm sunny day. we were warned that there would be a 40 minute wait and there was. we shared a plate of antipasti which was a little sparse for 10.95 and the bread had clearly been cut many hours previously and had dried out and curled up and the outside softened. wine was ok though and reasonably priced. rest of our party fine with standard pub fare.toilets not attended to with rolls of unravelled toilet paper over the floor and no other available.wouldn't go again

Norfolk Arms seems to have gone through several incarnations over the last few years. Attracting an interesting mix of clientele, from hungry mountain bikers and climbers stopping off for a pint and perhaps a meal on the way home from the Peak district (i am one of these), to 'hoity toity overdressed ecclesall show offs' (i live in ecclesall but am not - i hope - one of these!). Its position, of course, is superb: only a few minutes out from (the west side of) Sheffield, with a lovely view of the Mayfield valley.I've visited the Norfolk Arms many a time for a quick pint over the last few years. 3 or 4 years ago it underwent a major transformation and over-up-marketed itself, seeming to disdain the walkers, climbers and bikers that do make up alot of its market, and chucking out the long-standing jazz nights. They must have realised that they'd tried to push upwards too far, because they subsequently got rid of some of their airs and graces, reinstated the really popular live jazz on Monday nights, and introduced a more sensibly priced menu.My visits over the last few years have only ever been for a swift ale - they have a good range of cask and handpulled ales, and it's a lovely place to sit of an evening, whether in winter in front of a fire or in summer outside enjoying the view. I've often taken a look at the menu, and have meant to eat here for a while, so 7 of us booked a table for Sunday lunch last weekend.Good pub food is glorious: hearty, homemade and satisfying. The Norfolk Arms introduced a brand new menu recently (January 2012) with really tasty looking pub staples (menu is available on their website so i won't list it here). We ate in the centre of the dining room, which is a lovely space - it is pub food, so you do order and pay at the bar (you can book tables though). We enjoyed the food: Sunday roast beef was tender; vegetarian burger (bean and stilton) a gloriously tall feast; giant yorkshire puddings filled with beef, vegetables, gravy and chips went down well too. And the food is excellent value. But the meal and the experience, sadly, was let down somewhat by chaotic service:i) they couldn't sell us our first choice bottle of wine because - believe it or not - they didn't have a bottle opener! They had the wine in stock, but no corkscrew. Seriously, folks - this is a somewhat grave omission.ii) the staff were friendly and welcoming but the service was slow and chaotic (and the staff became more and more harried during the afternoon). Big, big queues at the bar to order food, with the staff not knowing who to serve next meaning some people waited ages to order food (and drinks) while others pushed in. Not clever.iii) l-o-n-g wait - about 55 minutes - for the food to arrive. Yes - it was a busy Sunday (though they were nowhere near capacity). And of course, fresh proper food involves a wait. But the impression which we (and other) diners got was that they couldn't cope because they were understaffed and chaotic. We'd have spent more, of course, if the food had come faster and if every visit to the bar to replenish drinks didn't involve a 10 minute wait. We'll continue to pop in for a pint of a weekday evening; and will probably eat there again - for pub food it's excellent and it's good value - but not for Sunday lunch.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago for a bite to eat and a drink with the g/f. I’ve been many times before for a quick pint or 2 after a walk round Fox House/Burbage rocks but this was the first time I’d actually had anything to eat there. The interior is quite cosy and welcoming and there’s also a dog friendly area of the bar which is exactly what we needed with the hound in tow. They even had a jar of free dog treats on the bar so he could have his fill too.We were lucky enough to get a table sat directly next to the wood burning stove which considering the arctic weather outside meant our trip was always going to be on to a winner, regardless of how the food was. Thankfully though that lived up to the surroundings too. We both went for haddock and chips which arrived in good time and was an absolutely massive portion. Fish was cooked perfectly with batter light and not too greasy. The generous amount of mushy peas and tartare sauce on the side too was a winner in my eyes as well.My only complaint (if you can call it that) was that the chunky chips were a little bit too chunky for my liking. More like potato wedges rather than what I would call an actual chip. But to be honest seeing as that was the worst thing I could find about the meal I don’t think they did too badly – and it didn’t stop me from finishing the whole plate regardless. All in all a very satisfying visit with friendly/quick service and good quality food. Certainly won’t hesitate to return for more than just a drink again.

Pub Sunday lunch tends to be a budget meal and a bit of a cash cow to the landlord. The problem is, you cant chuck a couple of paper thin slices of poor quality beef on a plate with a Yorkshire pud, charge the top end of the local price range and expect people to be happy. If you do this don't expect people to come back, don't expect the grape vine to work in your favour. You can't aproach gastro pub prices with greasy spoon food.

Visited Waggon and Horses on November 1st and had a good experience. The steak and ale pie was top notch, and the pint of Thornbridge Jaipur was perfectly poured. The cask ale selection is always impressive, and I appreciate that they usually have a good pale ale available. The pub itself is a beautiful old building, with a cozy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing evening out. The location is also great, right next to Millhouses Park, making it a great stop after a walk in the park. I highly recommend Waggon and Horses to anyone looking for a great pub experience in Sheffield. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food and drink were excellent. We'll definitely be back!
