We came here primarily for lunch but ended up having a look round the shop, having a go on the train and using the 'pick your own' facilities! The cafe was full when we arrived but the gave us a little pager and it said it would beep when a table was available so we decided to have a look around the shop. It went off after about 10 minutes even though they estimated 30 minutes, so that was good. The staff in the cafe are friendly and the food is fantastic. We had a ride on the train around the farm which was nice. We also decided to pick our own strawberries. There wasn't many left as they had been picked through, but we did get as many as we wanted and they were cheap too. Fantastic little place.

We love calling in, (on our way North, or South, from Whitby) for a meal as the staff are always very pleasant and the food good. However I was disappointed at our last visit to find that the Burger was not homemade - I guess I should have asked.

From the outside, The Buck Inn looked warm and inviting and as we entered the main bar area we weren't disappointed. A roaring log fire added to the already warm, friendly ambience. We were greeted with a smile at the bar and shown to our table. It was a Friday night and very busy so we were glad we had reserved. Drinks selection was good with a couple of decent local ales on tap. I had the Viking blonde ale which was excellent. The menu wasn't massive which I prefer, quality over quantity! I went for the black pudding and Stilton starter followed by the pork belly and mash. My wife had the soup, which was pea and spinach, followed by fish and chips. We both give our meals 10 out of 10. Service was quick and unobtrusive. The cost for the meal (not including drinks) was a touch under £50 which is excellent value considering the quality of the food. Overall a wonderful evening, great hosts and exceptional food.

We called into the fascinating little attraction on the way out of Scarborough at the end of October On entering we were immediately transported into what seemed like a cross between the Shambles and a movie set. Lovely little craft shops lined the narrow Victorian lanes selling everything from beautifully leather bound note books and Christmas decorations to baked goods. We particularly loved the gift basket shop. There were gift baskets made up for all genders and ages set in beautiful boxes and birdcages and all were so inexpensive that I did most of my Christmas shopping there and then. At the end we called into the charming tea room for a very nice sandwich and drink. Everything was superbly presented and at the time dressed for Halloween. I would love to see it decorated for Christmas. I do hope that this lovely attraction is successful as we would love to visit time and again.

Really disappointed Booked a table for 2pm for 2 people. Arrived at 2pm to have no record of our booking. Got told we could sit anywhere we wanted, but got told to move as we sat on a big table ( the rest of the tables were reserved and that was the only free one in that room so we moved into the dining room. horrible start to the visit! On the phone when making the booking i got told there was a selection of vegetarian options, and the male who took my booking said he made note that we required one vegetarian meal, I booked here because of the selection of vegetarian meals. When ordering I asked for the vegetarian options and the only option was a meat roast without the meat. When asked about the other options i simply got told ‘no’. After driving an hour to visit this place, we felt we had to get food here. food came within 5 minutes of ordering (very very fast, too fast to be fresh that’s for sure!) we recieved one small pot of gravy, a small bowl of leak, turnip and cauliflower for 2 people! We got told the veg was for the bangers and mash and the extra gravy was for my meal. A VEGetian meals WITHOUT VEG?!? the veggie sunday lunch consisted of 2 small roasties, a small bit of lumpy, dry mash and 2 yorkshire puddings! for £13! the large bangers and mash consisted of 2 sausages and a small bit of mash absolutely soaked in gravy. we originally thought the waitress was getting more food from the kitchen, so waited & them realised that was it. after trying to get the attention of the waitress and failing, and her somewhat hiding in the kitchen and serving tables far away from us, we gave up. when clearing out plates, we got asked was everything okay? we answered it was alright but.. but the waitress was quick to inturpt asking if we wanted anything else. we honestly just gave up. there was no customer service displayed, and one disappoint after the next. £40 for 2 drinks and 2 bland meals, and we ending up feeling we were the burdens. i would recommend giving this place a miss. never been more disappointed and defeated about a place. customer service is very much lacking and the food isn’t worth the money.

In all of the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Market and the hordes of people traversing the Shambles it would be very easy to overlook the hidden gem that is Sandwitches. We almost did, but by chance noticed it and ventured in out of the crowds. In such a small setting we were not hopeful of a table but as luck had it there was one free on the first floor. The cafe promises 2 floors of themed and informal dining and it did not disappoint. The chairs were comfortable, tables felt a little low (but I'm well over 6 foot so most things are) but the surroundings were cosy and the staff were quick and attentive. We were there at lunch time so my partner ordered a Sandwich and I had the steak and mushroom filled jacket. Considering there was not much difference in the price, we felt the Sandwich was a bit disappointing. 4 triangles on supermarket bread and basically some crisps... But on the other hand, when you order a sandwich in a cafe... You get what you get and you don't get upset! My loaded jacket was excellent, steak was a little bit over how I prefer it (blue/rare)... but I'm fairness, I didn't ask for it a certain way and I'm not exactly sure what the random dusting on the edges of the serving plate was meant to be but it definitely didn't have a negative impact on the taste meal as a whole. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't have picked a nicer, more intimate place to celebrate our anniversary! Staff must have legs of steel going up and down those stairs all day and still keeping a smile on their faces! If you changed the bread on the Sandwiches to be home/local bakery made or even a thick farmhouse/crusty it would have been 5* without question and if we were more local we would definitely be back!!

Visited on a Monday evening for dinner. The staff were absolutely fantastic and welcoming. The steak pie was excellent and there was plenty of it. Sadly though we were put into a separate, dark and soulless room because we had our dog with us - this spoiled the whole evening. No other pubs we visited in the area made us go into a ‘dog’ room - disappointed!
